Reviews for Knowles Marine Yacht Services
Nice facility, 2017-04-04
Captain: , Ocala FL (546)

Rate is $1/foot and electric was flat $15 per night. Cash payment saved 4.5% credit card charge.
Charlton, owner, is very busy trying to repair the damage from Hurricane Matthew. He is making repairs faster than most of the area as we observed.
I judge a shop by how clean it keeps it's floors and how well organized it is. I give them a 4stars for cleanliness and 3 for organization (work in progress)
He is replacing his destroyed canvas paint spray booth with an environmentally controlled building. All things in time.
Watch the channel approach as there is a LARGE rock on the Sbd side of the channel, inbound, that has a temporary float attached to it. Stay to the Left of the rock and then return to the center of the channel. Charleton hopes to once again get the channel to where 100 footers can enter the harbor.
Best WiFi is from the Sunrise resort if you are docked near the fuel dock.
Very helpful, courtious, clean facilities and we will be happy to visit here again!

Bottom job..., 2016-03-04
Captain: , Ft. Lauderdale (10)

Hauled my Grand Banks with Knowles. Got an estimate first. Estimate was right on the moneys, and the haulout was fast. Out of the water on a Sat. and back in the water on the next Wed. Good pressure sprayer, good electric sanding of bottom, one primer coat..Primocon...two coats of bottom paint. (The good bottom paint!) Very happy with job and price. Keep in mind, this was only a bottom job, with no other issues. I was allowed to service all my thru hulls myself. Mr. Knowles is a nice man, and plesent to talk to/with. Convient grocery store and liquor store within walking/bicycle distance. Was able to stay on boat, and the restroom and shower was clean for a boat yard.

Good service and towing, 2015-03-06
Captain: , Key West, FL (150)

Had our boat towed by Knowles from Great Harbor Cay. They did a great job even tho it was quite expensive. Also had engine work done here. Very well done by George. Charlton and Cameron (father/son owners) very accomodating. Only issue was cost. The cost of engine exhaust manifold was extremely high (5 times US cost). Even given general cost markup and travel, I felt taken advantage of with this exorbitant cost markup. I should have ordered it on Ebay, and had it shipped to Freeport myself.

Great boatyard - inexpensive and reliable!, 2014-08-24

This is a great inexpensive place to dock your boat and get maintenance done. Not that scenic, but safe and protected. Entrance channel can be less than 5ft at low tide.

Honest - reliable - knowledgeable, 2014-07-30
Captain: , Toronto (80)

we arrange with mr Knowles on hard storage for hurricane season 2014. we arrived and as promised were escorted into the inlet from one mile out. That's service! lots of water to the inlet, visible shoaling in the inlet, sufficient for 6 foot draft at high tide. Arrive during daytime. We required engine and outboard servicing. We found them to be very knowledgeable and flexible. Facilities are basic and ok for short term live aboard. water was included and wi fi was good.
Cameron (son) was always ready to help! Haul out went great! close to marina is a mini mall - Britannia Town Plaza - food stores - liquor store - laundry mart - local restaurant da Clapboard Cafe - great lunch 8.00 bucks for a large daily special ie beans/rice curry chicken mac and cheese coleslaw big enough to share! we went 3 times!! The best is the fish stand located in the parking lot - amazing conch salad! made fresh in front of you!! opened most nights. do not miss this place! $10. for a large conch salad.

Mr. Knowles and his son are great!, 2014-03-02
Captain: , Palm Beach, FL (341)

stayed at Sunrise during tuna season and needed to fuel up in the evening so we can go hunting before sunrise. Mr. Knowles sent his son over at 8pm one evening so we can fuel up and run as early as we want.

Sometimes however they do run out of fuel and you'll have to go a couple of miles away to the Bell channel and get fuel at the Port Lucaya Marina.

Watch the entrance into Knowles / Sunrise. At low tide, you'll have to deal with 3'

Great Service, 2012-03-06
Captain: , Tampa (93)

Dropped into Old Bahama Bay for an one day stay after heavy crossing. Phoned Knowles about doing a quick repair (12 hrs). Agreed on a not to exceed price without his seeing actual repair. Droper item to be repaired at 0945. Repiar was completed by early evening and he hand delivered back to boat for 1/2 of the not to exceed price. Doesn't get much better!
