Yes - Rockland Diner is a little south on Main St. They make fresh fishcakes every day which which you can even have for breakfast. Somewhat farther south is Amalfi, a nice informal mediterranean bistro, a sushi bar a female sushi chef (unusual), and a very pleasant wine bar. All recommended. Primo would be a fair hike from Knight's. There are many other restaurants within walking distance, both north and south along Main Street. Cafe Miranda has a very inventive menu, well worth a visit.

At one time, Knight's was the only game in town. Still in the family, this operation has not kept up with current expectations of service quality and responsiveness and in my mind offers only so-so professionalism. Primarily a storage business, with average for the area rates, most customers are there for the ability to do their own work and keep the mast/rig up during winter layup. Their service offerings beyond storage are minimal. They do offer mast step/unstep service. I have heard several complaints about mast/rig damage and their rate is the same whether 15 minutes with a deck step rig or an hour with a large wood spar in a local wooden boat--$200 plus 1 hour minimum labor. Also, q friend's boat incurred fiberglass damage at the keel during moving within the yard and it was a major hassle to get the yard to own up and fix it.Though they have a mechanic on-site, it appears that he is mostly involved in winterzation and commissioning work and minor service such as fuel system troubleshooting, fuel polishing and other in-boat service. Major repairs do not appear to be a part of the program, though Journey's End across the harbor is a major player in that area. It behooves the potential customer to be very clear about the terms of service, in particular if they will be storing for less than a full season-September 21 to June 21. One should be aware that the summer storage season is billed at about 2/3 the full winter rate and for only a third of the time-pretty pricy. I'm obviously not thrilled with my experience here, but have attempted to give an unbiased picture. That said, many people return each year-again, just be very clear beforehand about the terms of your agreement.

Stored our boat here for winter. Knights can only haul during high tide. Next to ferry dock and during haulout the swirliness of ferry sucked our boat towards rocks; no damage but they could have staffed the haulout better. Bathrooms/showers/laundry 1960's vintage mobile home style are inside pole barn only open during weekday business hours. Once we launched in spring, no place to tie up even for an hour to take on water, and also no moorings, but was able to go over to town dock for that. Knights charges $9/ dayto leave car so ended up leaving it at ferry dock parking lot.

Excellen repair, not good scenery, 2013-07-26

With a recommendation from the Captain of the windjammer, Nathaniel Bowditch, we contacted Art Stanley (207.594.7246), Owls Head to repair a leaking transmission. Art could fix the transmission but has no dock space. He suggested we contact Knight Marine Service in Rockland. Their mechanic, Ed, was outstanding. Ed pulled the transmission, Art repaired it at his shop, and Ed replaced. This was completed in three days. We were very impressed we were able to get into Knight%u2019s and very lucky to have Ed%u2019s knowledge, positive attitude, and friendliness. The shop rate at Knight%u2019s was $57 per hour which was a nice surprise! However, they charged us $2 per foot to stay for three nights. We have generally had the experience of the yard not charging as they are doing the repairs. We thought $2 was high for a view of the ferry dock and the rock wall. However, glad to be on our way and have the transmission fixed.
We are very happy with service but giving them a 4 not 5 because they charged for dockage.

Very Professional, Reasonable prices. Affordable inside storage. Protected but limited number of moorings. Shore side ammenities are on the spartan side. Closest to shopping but stillabout a mile. Right next to ferry landing so watch for them and keep out of the fairway. Also close to industrial complex but then so is most of Rockland harbor.

I rate this lower than Journeys End because of showers inside the shed, so inaccessible when they are closed. No Laundry .

Knight is adjacent to the ferry docks for North Haven and Hurricane Island. That is also where the twice daily coastal Trailways bus stops.

It is closer than Journeys end to the Rockland diner. About the same for the other three restauarants I mentioned on Main St.
