This is a LONG floating dock. Make sure to call them before attempting to tie up. You can dock facing east or west. Watch the current and watch the power pods on the dock (are are pretty close to the edge and easy to knock out). You may have to wait for a break in the traffic to cut over from the west. Bridge traffic can make a real jam up sometimes.

Reviews for Knapp's Narrows Marina and Inn
A wonderful place to stop, 2016-08-23
Captain: , St. Margarets, MD (10)

A wonderful place to stop, very helpful gas and dock hands, and everything one could ask for, for an overnight stay. Showers and heads are clean and decent, the office staff is friendly, and the grounds are very well cared for and attractive. The marina has a great swimming pool. Good restaurants and bars are right there. Our stay included a continental breakfast, available for the marina and hotel guests.

Approaches are tricky, they say the west channel will be dredged soon. We went aground comming from the west, with a 4.5 foot draft, but a good semaritan pulled us off. They say, the channel is along the red markers, in the west channel, not the middle, where we were. They also say, stay to the green markers in the east channel. We read about 6 feet or more in both channels, maybe more in the east channel.

We stopped at the marina overnight twice, on a trip to Cambridge, and again on the return, we liked it so much.

Great stop, 2016-07-12
Captain: , Stafford, VA (1063)

There is just something about this place. The staff is very helpful and the view from the transient dock can't be beat. The entrances can be a bit tricky, but just stop and watch a local transit the entrance to see how to do it - there's always a boat coming or going.

Our Favorite Place on Bay - Marker 5 is open!, 2016-06-29
Captain: , Chesapeake Bay MD (495)

July 2016 -
The restaurant is OPEN and called Marker 5 Restaurant and Tiki Bar - it was excellent and has over 40 draft beers at reasonable prices.
The lunch menu is simple but good! The inside or restaurant has been 100% remodeled and they have the nicest bathrooms on the Eastern Shore.
Glad to see a good place back in location and plan to go often!

June 2015 - restaurant on hotel side "Bay 100" closed - dock person said will be open soon but sure did not look like any time real soon

Been coming here for over ten years. Stress level is zero on island. What happens on the island stays on the island.

Sunsets rival Key West.
Friendly and helpful staff.
Everything on Island is within walking distance.

Very accommodating facilities. Staff very helpful, 2016-06-14
Captain: , Fort Worth (179)

Enjoyed the Inn and amenities over Memorial Day weekend. Staff were polite, helpful and above all else, very friendly. Fuel price were good. Really enjoyed the restaurant (ahi burrito was outstanding.
Only reason (and this is petty) I didn't give five stars was due to an absence of trash receptacles around harbor.

Great Place to Stay, 2015-10-10
Captain: , Solomons, MD (10)

We stopped here on a fall trip from Solomons to St. Mike's. Very easy tie up on the long floating dock. nice continental breakfast in the hotel lobby, clean bathrooms, nice pool. it also has a restaurant with an outside bar. After we arrived, we were happy to find that they had happy hour with $5.00 nachos and pork sliders. I would highly recommend this as a good option in Knapps Narrows.

Great Place, 2015-07-24
Captain: , Blackstone Marina, MD (50)

Visited there on a busy summer weekend and was taken care by the staff. Got a transient slip without reservation, very lucky. Great amenities in the marina and awesome staff. The restaurant across the bridge has awesome food. Will be back soon....

Still Nice and Clean, 2014-10-21
Captain: , Galesville, Md (116)

The Dock Hand was very informative about local conditions and VERY good and helping dock/tie up. Still very clean heads and nice folks.

I love this place, 2014-10-02
Captain: , Cambridge md (47)

We go here a few times a years and the facility is very clean. the staff is first rate, the pool is a great feature. I will be back. It can get croewded on weekends during the peak season.

Land that time forgot, 2014-09-15
Captain: , Bear Cr,MD (145)

One of our favorite places. Not a lot to do except relax and enjoy the view the sunset...aaah!Nice facility w/cont breakfast, great staff, loner car and bikes. Its a place to see what the bay is really about with the workboats accross the narrows unloading their catch and re-fueling their craft. such expert boat handling!!

One of my favorites, 2014-08-14
Captain: , Middle River (130)

This is one of my favorite marinas on the upper Bay. We love to tie up on the long floating pier and watch the traffic and the local crabbers unload across the channel. The dockmaster is excellent always helpful and very knowledgable. Nice continental breakfast at the Inn and bikes and curtesy car if needed. Go late in the season or September when they are not so busy.

Good spot before crossing the Bay--or after crossing, 2014-07-03
Captain: , Northport MI (405)

Very nice, friendly and helpful marina. Long floating dock. Showers and restroom in the Inn very clean. Showers near the pool (unsecured during the daytime, not so much. Take advantage of loaner bikes for nice tour of the Island...or 12 miles to St Michaels in loaner car. Museums and Nautical Book Store opened only on Weekends.

Out of gas, 2014-06-12
Captain: , Houston, Texas (970)

Memorial Day 2014
Didn't stay there, but what kind of management operates so poorly as to be out of gas on Memorial Day?

Knapp's Narrows Marina, 2014-05-17
Captain: , Sandwich (692)

Knapps Narrows Marina & Inn protected on 3-sides directly off Knapps Narrows. Bath/shower facilities clean. Courtesy white bath towel mat adds nice touch getting out of shower. Continental breakfast served from 7am-10am mariners welcomed. Guest lounge best place for WiFi. Cell phone signal very weak. Too soon for outdoor pool. Laundry room with 1 washer/dryer $1/load. Easy walk to restaurants. Best bets are Tilghman Island Country Store on Friday wine tasting night serving up some nice finger food munchies along with a sampling of red and white wines and meet some of the locals including the owners Patricia and John. Buy your wine and head to Two-If-By-Sea Cafe dinners Friday/Saturday prepared by renowned Chef Henry Miller and serving breakfast/lunch weekdays.

OK but there are better choices, 2014-01-09
Captain: , Chester, MD (225)

This is a decent facility. transients, however, are often relegted to slips on a dock in the main channel where it gets quite busy , rocky and noisy.

simply delightful, 2013-09-12
Captain: , jackson, TN (884)

Inn and Marina staffed by very friendly people with a nice facilty. Pool, continental breakfast, excellent restaurant on site, courtsey car (15 miles to St. Michaels) Quaint waterman's town with Skipjacks that still fish the bay.

Stopped for Fuel, 2013-08-16
Captain: , Galesville, MD (1037)

We just stopped for fuel. We had called ahead and were told it is self-serve with credit cards. We pulled up and the dockmaster came to help with lines and helped with the fuel. Paid $3.55/gal for diesel. He also gave us some local knowledge about transitting the narrows. Heading west from the bridge stay left and well away from the green markers. There is a private green shoal marker. Favor reds and make the turn between the two outer reds as a "pivot". We draw 6' and had no trouble on the rising tide. We certainly appreciated his help!

Nice Surprise!, 2013-06-17
Captain: , Jacksonville, FL (161)

We stayed here on June 11, 2013. After reading the warnings about skinny water in the approach channel to the Narrows, we were surprised at having 5' under the keel an hour after low tide. The marina offers an easy to negotiate long concrete face dock just West of the bridge. Watch the current which can run fast through the narrows. The dock master was very efficient, attentive, and helpful in docking. The power pedestals are very close to the outside of the dock, and we hit one with our hull overhang. The dock master brought rubbing compound and buffed out the oxidation from the pedestal to my satisfaction. Knapp's Narrows is a waterman's area with plenty of seafood boats going by the dock. Even with this traffic, rock and roll was minimal. We enjoyed a nice complimentary continental breakfast at the Inn, and there are several restaurants nearby, with one on the premises. All in all, this was a very nice stop!

Kid Friendly and Very Helpful, 2013-06-14
Captain: , Charlottesville (265)

Agree with most other reviews. The people here are very nice and super helpful. If they tie you to the long dock outside the lagoon, you can take some wakes from boats passing in the narrows but no worse than in many marinas. Note that the Bay Hundred restaurant right next door is now open as of 6-13-13 and was a great place for dinner. The pool, a free continental breakfast, and a park/playground next door (not to mention the bascule bridge itself) make this an ideal stop with kids.

Decent stop for the night, 2013-04-03
Captain: , Kent Narrows MD (70)

Dock along the long pier. Good restaurants and bars for a fun night. Watch for sea nettles. My air conditioner has clogged with sea nettles several times while at this marina.

Pleasant stop, nice pool, good on-site restaurant, 2012-08-21
Captain: , Londontowne, MD (470)

We've stayed here several times over the years, usually when en route to or from Cambridge and/or Oxford... but our latest stop (8/12/12) was a one-nighter with landlubber guests aboard simply because this is a nice, representative for the area, quiet place to enjoy some time. The Marina (including working boatyard) and the Inn are both well-run, transient docking (usually) on the long floating face dock is usually easy enough, and dock staff is very helpful with setting lines on cleats and helping with shorepower and water. Good fenders are a must, given various interpretations of "no wake" and who's supposed to abide by that... but with good fenders deployed the rocking effect is easily minimized. There are still a couple off-site restaurants -- Harrison's, and Tilghman Island Inn -- within walking/cycling distance (or they'll come get you), althoough the Bridge restaurant is currently closed. It's pleasant to just sit and watch the bridge openings (Channel 13) and to watch the boat traffic go by...

Lunch Stop, 2012-07-30
Captain: , Deale, MD (347)

Will let you tie up, no charge, to have lunch at Bay Hundred Restaurant. Staff is very helpful both with entry instructions and securing your boat. Approach from the Bay is tight. Pleanty of water but a very narrow channel. Hug the red markers! Turn close aboard R4 and head to the first marina entrance. Stay to the right side of the channel until you are abeam the floating dock to port. Bay Hundred restaurant serves basic fare with good service.

Knapps Narrows, 2012-07-29
Captain: , Annapolis (2892)

As "locals" we have gone past this marina dozens of times without stopping: Our loss. On Friday we were being overtaken by a thunderstorm and decided to get off the bay. We found it to be a friendly comefortable spot to wait out the storm,. Dinner at Bay Hundred was wonderfull too. We willl certainly be back here.

Ablin Owners Group Rendevous, 2012-07-02
Captain: , Herrington Harbour South (318)

Spent the weekend here for our annual Albin Rendevous. Great marina with helpful staff. Courtesy bikes AND car available. Continental breakfast. Refreshing pool. Kayaks for rent. The 'no wake' zone doesn't apply to the local watermen but it didn't bother me and it's fun to watch them zip around. Short bike ride to Lowes Wharf Marina if you want something different then Bay 100 (which also has a nice tiki bar). Harrison's Rest. a short walk/bike ride away. Deli/store just across brige.

Quick repair, 2012-06-24
Captain: , Sue Island, Maryland (131)

We were on the way to Cambridge and stopped to check a packing nut. After that was repaired I had them look at my generator. Ended up with a short haul where they found barnacles had obstruced 90% of sea water intake. They cleaned all barnacles off hull and metal. All work was completed in 2 hours at a reasonable price and we were on our way.

Very good marina and restuarant, 2012-06-19
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (366)

We opted to pull in here instead of going to our original destination (Bay Bridge Marina) on the suggestion from friends. Glad we did. The marina is nicely laid out and turning around in the channel was not a problem. We loved the restuarant which have sexy glasses from a company called "govino" that have a thumb notch.

Nice Visit, 2012-06-05
Captain: , Springfield, VA (10)

Marina hosted 4 boats from our club. Very attentive manager, good facilities, Bay Hundred Restaurant managed all of us at once.

Marina to the Chesapeake or Choptank in 5 minutes., 2012-03-09
Captain: , Tilghman Island, MD (41)

Marina gives you access to the Chesapaeake or Choptank River in 5 minutes. Three restaurants nearby. Great sunsets over the Bay. A full service Inn for your guests. Friendly and helpful staff.

Expected More, 2011-10-09
Captain: , New Rochelle, NY (1000)

Friendly staff and nice grounds, but at $2/ft I expected more. We dinghied over to The Tilghman Inn for an outstanding gournet dinner. Owner, Dave, very gracious host.

Great Marina Despite Theft, 2011-07-27
Captain: , East Goshen, PA (106)

We were there less than 24 hours. Our tender outboard motor and gas tank were stollen right off the back of our boat during the night. Had to be a local. We were on the west end of the floating dock.

However, the Marina management have been great!! They have issued a cash reward for information on the event and even offered to give me a replacement motor to make things right. This is far and beyound what a marina should do and that means they are great people.

Marina management and others we have spoken to in the area all agree and are networking around to nip this in the bud. I impressed with the reaction of the community and their collective interest in keeping Tilghman a safe a pleasant place to visit. We will definately visit there again.

Love the Inn, quaint quiet pretty, 2011-07-12
Captain: , Washington, DC (350)

Again, a wonderful place to spend the weekend, with a quiet setting. Not too busy, but in the Narrows, so some passage of traffic. Some waves.

Changes to the marina, 2011-06-13
Captain: , Jensen Beach FL (138)

As of 6/6/11 The manager Mark is no longer here. They do not have gas at this time, no idea when they will get it. Gas and diesel are available across the Narrows at Fairbanks.
AMENDMENT! As of June 12th they now have gas and diesel available. THe marina is open for business as is the Bay Hundred Restaurant.

Knapps Narrows Marina and Inn, 2011-05-30
Captain: , Wilsonville, AL (300)

Bathrooms not sufficient for marina. One shower closes @ dusk leaving only 2 showers available. No bicycles or loaner cars. Not near any shopping. Inlet shoals going into marina and all docks are not floating. Could not put us @ floating dock because water depth @ low tide less than 3.5'.

pretty facility, 2010-11-02
Captain: , Galena MD (171)

Stopped by chance on the way south. Wonderful place with decent/fair priced restaurant. Continental breakfast in a really nice room with verenda type setting outside. It was so nice that our early mornig departure was delayed by 2 hours--too comfortable sitting outside with such a pleaseant view and fresh brewed coffee not by us. Will be back.

Nice views and snug little marina, 2010-07-30
Captain: , Cornwall PA (421)

We stayed here one weekend (by car) in the fall, and even though the weather wasn't perfect, we enjoyed it a lot. The motel is well run, clean and nice, the views are great- the bay on one side, the marina and the Narrows on the other. Several restaurants within walking (or short drive) distance, lots of history of Tilghman Island to learn about.

Floating Docks, 2010-06-05
Captain: , Wicomico Creek, MD (494)

Convenient floating docks right on the narrows. Swift tidal current and much traffic during the day (some waking). Walk to restaurants but no shopping. Fuel up across the narrows at the filling station for low prices (but backing in can be tricky).

Fun overnighter, 2010-01-12
Captain: , Albemarle Plantation, NC (389)

The narrows is heavily utilized, but traffic eases in the evening. Very shallow (<2') near north end of transient docks. 3+ kt current in the narrows, so docking requires full attention. Good pet-friendly (lot of grass) facility. Tiki bar is fun, family-friendly.

Basic marina, no complaints, 2009-09-26
Captain: , Block Island (1679)

Stayed here in 2007 for one night. Fair rates and easy side tie.

Good stop. Very busy., 2009-09-09
Captain: , Charleston, SC (364)

Only negative are wakes on a very busy waterway. No wake zone so only a small problem. Excellent facility with pool, free continental breakfast, very good resturant nearby.

Nice place, great views, 2009-07-04
Captain: , Patuxent River, MD (387)

Spent one night here, try to get a slip in the basin if you can. If you are on the floating dock you will be waked by all the watermen (and everyone else) going by. Smallish but nice pool, clean showers, and great food onsite.

Knapps Narrows Marina, 2007-08-20
Captain: , Annapolis (14)

Easy access and sailboat docking on floating dock. Knapps narrows was recently dredged and was about 8 ft deep. Marina pool was great but restaurant was fair. Shower and toilet facilities relatively clean.

Friendly Value, 2007-04-15
Captain: , Chesapeake (47)

We stay here on our first and last outing of every season. The people are friendly, and the rates are regionally low. The restaurant is very good and other choices are not very long walks. Knapps Narrows Channel can be very tricky and a high tide entry and departure are a good idea (especially from the Bay side). Currents near the bridge are strong and unpredicatably swirly. DO NOT get near the bridge until it is open and you are committed to going through. One downside is the marina basin acts as a catch basin for trash blown down channel from the Choptank side.
