Reviews for Kinsale Harbour Marina

Not a fency marina, but very well protected and calm bay.
The restroons was clean with good showers.
Pool was clean as well. Power and water on the docks working fine. No shopping around. Fresh eggs up hill from Gene and jimmy . If you are lucky, you will meet captain Rhon Nelson from S/V Southern Drawl(irwin 37), a really nice guy who know a lot about boating on the area.

We liked it!, 2016-08-03

I think it ireally funny how someone would complain about frogs in a pool in a vey inexpensive marina in December VA! Sheesh. We stayed here a night and it was perfect for us. Great rates, great people. The dockmaster/owner? is just revoering from not only a broken leg, but also a stroke so give him a break! He wants badly to bring the marina back to what is was, but it can't be easy with the little traffic he gets. We gives full marks for trying!

Tried calling but went straight to voicemail which was full. I talked to a couple of the slip holders and they seemed nice enough but explained the owner was, well...just not present. The marina looks as though it's falling apart. Bathroom is in disrepair and the pool clearly hasn't been cleaned in quite a while. Many dead frogs in the water. Too bad, looks like it could be a nice place. Off to find another marina I guess.

Untended marina is great for a day trip layover, 2015-05-08

We anchored out in one of the many nearby gunkholes and pulled up to the marina in the morning looking for fuel and a pump out. The local slip holders (and all residents) were extremely warm and welcoming. They informed us that the manager lived near Richmond and that they doubted if anyone would mind if we slipped or moored for the day. They also advised that anchoring off the marina would have been fine as well. We hesitantly moored on the T-pier (concerned we would be in the limited fairway) and walked to town. The museam is small but nice (30-60 minutes). They have info on a walking tour which will take about an hour. We walked about 2.2mi to a local restuant call the Backdraft. The best in Kinsail...nearly the only. The town was an agricultural hub before produce was moved so quickly by truck. Local produce (tomatoes) were canned in one of the many local canneries and then shipped world wide via the Chesapeake Bay. Since then the town has rolled up and now acts mostly as a quiet vacation or retirement communitee. Locals are very happy to see new comers and willing to help any way possible. On our walk we recieved and offer to borrow someones car and 2 offers for a ride.

Kinsale Harbour Marina, 2014-07-12

We anchored off Port kinsale Marina and kayaked up to Kinsale Harbour Marina, as we draw over 6 feet. The marina was deserted and rather dismal. Calls to the marina went to voicemail, but the mailbox was full. When we were eventually called back, the man was unhelpful. Other than the Museum, open at weekends, there are few facilities, if any, in Kinsale itself. A very kind man sold us the steak he had bought for his supper, while another gave us two bottles of water. The post office ladies were charming, though.

The restaurnat closed suddenly May 29, 2014. It may reopen. Call first.

It's a nice spot, 2010-12-05

The facilities are not highly fancy but the place is friendly and showers very clean and the food is good when they are open. There have been a few turnovers in the restaurant.

It's one of the lowest cost marinas on the Chesapeake and you can get water and 30 amps.

Deep water all the way. It's next door to the grain elevator. When the grain is moving they run a barge every day in and out so it's worth watching for. The town is a nice place to walk around and the park has heavy shade when it's warm. There is an interesting museum there as well.

The marina does have a pool.
No shopping of any kind and you'll need a car for provisions. They don't have repair facilities of fuel.

as of 7-20-10 resturant is closed - marina owner said he was trying to get someone new in it

The town of Kinsale is a very quanit and quiet place, and so is the marina. The marina is actually a marina, resteraunt, and campgrounds. Nice folks, good food (I've been told the Sunday brunch can't be beat). The facilities are in good shape and it appears to do some work. They do have a travel lift and one tall bay.

The marina is not convient to much, so if you can't be satisified with just hanging out here, you'll move on quickly. I've used this place a few times as an overnight stop.
