Reviews for Kingston Yacht Club
Limited dock space, great location, 2015-12-15

We have used the reciprical privileges at KYC a few times. They always seem willing to try to accomodate you, but the docks are old and the visitors space is very limited, it is a tie up wall which is nice.

Our biggest problem when visiting KYC is their lack of shore power for reciprical clubs, there is none, and members give you a hard time if you try to tap in. This was a problem for us on our first visit as we had to go into town to buy ice for my sons medication. On subsquent visits, we bought ice before we arrived so we wouldn't have to worry about running the fridge.

If you have recirical privileges- hey it's a free place to tie up near down town Kingston, I wouldn't pay to dock somewhere without shore power though.

We love KYC, but................................, 2015-08-06

Update - 08/04/15
It has been three years since our last visit. Once again the club staff was awesome and the service simply excellent.
The food was great (try the "Shark Plate") and reasonably priced.
However, once again, we were highly disappointed in the shower and head facilities condition.
Three years ago the club manager told us they were going to revamp the atrocious conditions in the head and showers. Unfortunately, nothing has been done. They have gotten worse.
When we went to take a shower, it was so filthy and spider infested, that we opted for a bath in the lake instead of using the head.
i would gladly pay three times the price for a clean facility. KYC please address this issue!!
Evidently we've been very fortunate as we've always gotten a slip here. Kingston is an wonderful town to explore.
A bit tricky with the med moor but very doable.
Wonderful swim point off outer dock area.
Love the clubhouse, friendly and helpful staff.
The only down side was their showers and bathrooms. Not what you expect from a club this nice. Think the heavy use of the facilities by the sailing teams hits them hard. Hopefully they will fix them up in the near future.

Not that bad, 2013-08-31
Captain: , Toronto (30)

KYC is just ok, small and crowded. Staff is friendly and helpful restaurant is't that bad and prices are reasonable. The restrooms and shower however are another story, horrible and dirty and full of bugs, wasn't even comfortable standing a foot from the urinal. We went up the chanel to the other marina the next day, much better there.

Reciprocal?, 2011-07-29
Captain: , Toronto, ON (1729)

I have tried every time I have been in Kingston to get a recip slip at this club. There are none, period. This year I couldn't even get them to answer the phone. Don't waste your time. And I would suggest that other Yacht Clubs seriosuly consider their "reciprocal" status.

Picturesque, friendly and down to earth, 2009-08-19

KYC is a very homey kind of place. Very welcoming and comfortable, like a well worn reading chair. The available transient dockage is very limited and somewhat exposed but it is a very convenient location both from the water and for its access to Kingston's downtown core. A short 15 minute walk will get you to the center of town where you have access to a variety of resources from restaurants to marine hardware (Vandervoorts). There is a little beach beside the club facility as well as a bar and restaurant in the club house. It is also an excellent stopover for services such as pumpouts, fuel and water. They offer reciprocity to a large number of other yacht clubs making it a prime site for visitors from other clubs. Staff are very friendly and helpful. I wholeheartedly recommend a visit to this fine club if you are passing through Kingston. It is the kind of place that makes it easy to meet fellow sailors.
