Reviews for Key West Harbor Marina
Very nice, well protected marina, 2016-02-27
Captain: , Grand Rivers, Ky (1522)

We stayed here the month of February, it is a very well protected marina. The restaurant has a Sunday brunch that is absolutely fabulous. They also have happy hour from 5 to 7. They have Valve Tec fuel, diesel $2.25/ gal (2-25-16). One washer and one dryer, but there is no charge to use it. Also two ice machines, at no charge. You also have access to a small beach, and outdoor pool. The Wi-Fi was better than most places we have stayed, and cable TV is also included. I found the staff to be very friendly. I changed my oil and the maintenance shop will take the used oil for $1/gallon.
Our only disappointment was transportation. You can ride your bike the 5 or 6 miles to downtown Key West. A cab will cost $25 each way, but the city bus stop is 1 mile from the marina and seniors (60 and over) can ride for $0.50. We were told the marina is currently negotiating some type of shuttle service.
The pump out system is at each slip. During our first three weeks the pump out cost $15 on Wednesday, if you needed a pump out any other day it was $25. During our last week, there was no charge for a pump out Monday- Friday.

Beautiful facilities! Brutal & Consistently Poor Service!!!, 2015-04-07
Captain: , Alexandria Bay, NY (33)

I had heard great things from a few different people & Active Captain about the price & location is great for Key West. I agree that the price is competitive for the area, but not acceptable for the level of consistently poor service we have received. We booked for 2 months and were extremely excited to finally make it here. The facilities are nice and marina is pretty sheltered. My 2 major issues are the staff & the Internet access. In my opinion: The staff is what either makes or breaks a marina! We have stayed at moderately well maintained marinas with exceptional staff and the experience has always been dramatically better than this marina. The other marina staff cares! That is NOT the case at Key West Harbour Yacht Club! At least for the staff at the ship store, club house, as well as the management! The staff (excluding 2 dock hands)! Terrible customer service!!! When we checked in, we expected that they would at least know their own services and facility. The lady said, "I don't know, because I have only worked here 2 months" to most of the questions I had asked and they were basic questions that most marinas proactively tell you about their facilities. Clueless & clearly did not care what so ever!I have heard "I don't know" and "It's corporate that is the problem" more times than I have ever heard it at any other marina! When checking in and going to the Ship Store & Club House - It has been 100% consistent with those two answers! Appalling for a "Yacht Club" or any other business for that matter!! There have been a couple of helpful staff (The deck hands that pump out the boats & assist on the docks), but almost everyone else is not proactive in providing any type of service and to make it even worse, acts like you are bothering them when you ask them a question. I'm flat our tired of it and will not be back!I have many many examples of POOR service, but just a few are what I have already mentioned and things like, I would call ahead and ask for help from a dock hand when coming in with our boat and being told - No - We are too busy... The dogs (and their owners) at this marina are also ridiculous! They are barking a tremendous amount! They are not on leashes (the boat owners that live there permanently just let them jump off their boats and run around)! There wasn't a morning that we walked out to the tiki hut to watch the sunrise, that we didn't have to dodge several piles of dog pee & poop on the docks! Every morning!!! Ridiculous!!The 2nd issue is the Internet: It is terrible!! Once I actually spoke with the "IT Guy" his answers were once again - "I don't know", "It's corporate that is the problem" and also "Maybe next month it will be fixed". Next month came and went! It was fixed! I have been cruising quite a while and understand that most marinas have terrible Internet access, but this is supposed to be a "Yacht Club" and I expected at least moderately acceptable levels of Internet access. When questioned a little deeper, his answer was "Call Com Cast and have them install Internet on your boat", of course at my expense. Once the 'IT Guy" actually came to my boat (since they knew I had IT experience) and asked me to go troubleshoot it for them. I said no problem and I can fix it too! One 2 conditions: 1) I will not fix it for free (He said that they would not pay to have it fixed or even reduce my slip fee's at all.) 2) If it is hardware related, that they will need to purchase some additional hardware to replace it. (He said no! They are not willing to spend any money at all!) Needless to say - I didn't fix their Internet issues for free and pay for the hardware out of my own pocket!!! Ridiculous! One last note / joke! They have just increased their transient monthly rate from by $10.00 per foot / per month! If someone came in and trained this staff properly, replaced the dead weight and invested a little money into their Internet, then this would be an exceptional place to stay.Until that happens, I will not be back!!

Nice amenities but poorly managed, 2015-03-18
Captain: , Chelsea, NY12512 (481)

Potentially first class protected marina with restaurant, pool, gym. Wifi at slips is week, but strong at club house. Nearby US Naval air base creates a lot of loud noise with fly-bys/landings during the day. Dock area near mangroves is neglected: bathrooms often not clean or working; garbage in the water not removed; dock itself needs repair as do most of the chairs at the tiki; dogs run wild and often poop on dock. Prices have skyrocketed from $20/ft/slip size/monthly in 2011 to $35 in 2015.This was a much better marina in 2011. Have been coming here for winters for 4 years, but will not return.

hidden gem, 2014-09-21

great facility, pool, resturant, dockage, safe, staff helpful and friendly when ask for advice, liked it much more than Marinas at Key West Bright and a better value for longer term stay. Duval St is 15 min cab ride or 30 min bus ride, bike it in 30 min as well. stayed 70 days winter 2014

Nicest Facility in the KW area, 2013-08-14
Captain: , Palmetto, Fl (145)

This is probably the nicest facility in all of the Keys. Wish the staff was a little more friently, but they are helpful. Stayed for a month and alwasy felt that the boat was secure when we were not around.

Great place to stay, 2013-06-18
Captain: , Miami (61)

We stayed here for a few months. Its a great location if you want to be away from all the action for some peace and quiet.

Wifi is spotty and there is better covereage by the clubhouse. We enjoyed all the convienieces this marina has to offer. The people that work there are professional and courteous.

a very beautiful marina. Only a few years old, it has great amenities. What's missing is a laundry. You have to go offsite for all laundry. You are a bit of a hike from Duval street, but the pool and beach at the marina are first rate. Nice restaurant and bar on site.

Grerat place to stay, 2012-03-04

We stayed there for 4 months and loved it. Great pool, great happy hour and great food. This facility is top notch

Great Marina - Excellent rates, 2011-03-15
Captain: , Palm Beach Gardens, FL (1897)

We just finished staying here for a month from mid Feb through mid March and we both found the marina and facilites very clean with a very good staff especially Brandon who bent over backwards to help in any way he could.
We would definitely stay here again and it is only 4 miles into downtown Key West and it is a quiet marina except for the fighter jets flying overhead but hey its a free airshow everyday.
The pool is excellent with a nice restaurant if not a little pricey.
Only reason I would not give it 5 stars is that it cost $25.00 each time to pump out the black water.

Yacht Club newly converted to transient availability, 2010-01-02
Captain: , South Portland, ME (537)

KWHYC is an outstanding facility that was originally a private only yacht club. Summer of 2009, they began renting slips. Great price for monthly stay. Substantially lower than anywhere else in Key West. The facility is outstanding, including a restaurant, bar, health club, pool and beach. Docks are new. Outer lagoon docks are floating cement docks and inner lagoon docks are new fixed docks. Currently they do not answer vhf radio so your need to call in advance on a cell phone. They are still learning how to be a transient friendly marina and don't have it right yet but are getting better.
