Reviews for Kean's Detroit Yacht Harbor
Sailboaters and diesel users a worthwhile stop, 2016-12-27
Captain: , Ashland, wi (200)

Its interesting to note that transiting the Detroit area there is a scarcity of diesel pumps. Topping up when you have the chance is a good idea and Kean's is worth a stop even if you don't need fuel.

You can get just about anything you need here and the staff is friendly, efficient and patient, everything you could hope for wherever you tie up. They're a very busy location but you come away knowing that they paid particular attention to you, which is a good feeling.

They have the best pump out system you will see anywhere. I'm going to be making a copy for my own marina guys based on Kean's design.

Have not did an overnighter here, so unaware of the electrical, but entire marina seems well kept, knowledgeable staff & friendly to customers.

Great marina, 2015-08-31
Captain: , Mitchells Bay (60)

The cemnt docks are rather imposing trying to dock stern in. Just the thought of the concrete docks meeting fiberglass is troubling.
But othe than that marina is a great destination with Sinbads resturant just next door, call Sinbads and they will pick you, dont recommend walking.
Take limo to Greek town an casino is always good.
Great SAFE destination for Detroit stopover.

Huge, and convenient, but not in very great condition, 2015-06-25
Captain: , Iuka, MS (1130)

Fairly skinny water at the fairway entrance to 200 dock matches the very skinny finger piers of the slips. Just off the Detroit River is a plus, and completely without current within the basin. The river there is also a well-enforced No Wake zone. Weak electrical power--had to pick & choose which loads to run to keep from tripping out my inverter/battery charger due to low-voltage/power-quality.

Great Location, 2015-06-24
Captain: , St. Clair Shores (121)

They have everything. Close to Sinbads for dinner. Nice tiki bar, pool. Great facility with all the extras.

Nice one night stop, 2013-08-05
Captain: , Safety Harbor, Florida (40)

Easy access marina, great staff, clean restrooms. must take a cab to get anywhere in Detroit. Brian, the Owner of Sinbads, the restaurant a few blocks away came over and gave us ride to his fine establishment.

Nice facility great people, 2013-06-16
Captain: , escanaba, mi (283)

The people couldn't have been better, both workers and boaters. Came in on a Saturday and harbor was full of people grilling and enjoying the afternoon. Staff was great and did everything they could to help. Nice laundry facility and you can get food in the store of pizza in the yacht club on the second floor.

Nice facility Not a great area, 2013-02-06
Captain: , Lakeside Yacht Club (250)

Facility is decent, but nothing to do in the area. You'll have to take a cab to get anywhere nice. Pool on site, no restaurant. Stuck here 3 days, and rented a limo to get us out for a while

Average in the bigger mix- good for the area, 2012-05-09
Captain: , Midland Ontario (660)

340 slips but best suited to boats with beams < 15'11" and < 50 feet. Harbor is 5'6" deep because my props plowed it to that depth all the way to the gas dock at the back. Friendly people. Looks clean and tidy but a bit tired.

Customer Service is the key, 2011-09-15
Captain: , Detroit (720)

Oddly enough, while I stayed at Kean's for 3 months this summer, I am paying the crappy marina next door.

What I saw at Kean's was a commitement to customer service so fundamental that even when they don't get it right, you don't even mind, because you know they meant well.

Great landscaping and cleaning of a small place but it shows pride and care. Fuel dock and store help is so nice, helpful, knowledgeable and available that it makes the place next door look like a bad joke. I see even the owner go around and lower the picnic umbrellas each night.

Tenants are so nice and happy again compared to next door that it blows my mind.

I love Kean's and it really showed me what a marina could be like, compared to the poorly (bareley) run Harbor Hill next door.

I'm coming to Kean's next year and anticipate a actually good and happy marina experience compared to the hell I've endured the last 2 years.
