Reviews for Kap's Marina
the way it used to be, 2016-08-01

Kap's is like I remember it in the North Channel in the late 50's, but with Internet, floating docks and the Cherry Train to give you a tour around the Island. it is an Island, gas is $$$' and the slip fees, but it's worth it. a little grumpy at first but they warm up.

Solid docks, well protected, 2016-06-15

This is an "off the beaten path" location, not a resort luxury destination. Still $2 ft in 2016. The Prime Rib at the restaurant on Saturday night is superb. We took a tram ride around the island. Couldn't hear much of the narration but was good to see the island. Kap arranged for one of the ferry boat captains to bring us some smoked fish. It was so good we ordered some more that came on the later ferry.

We loved it here!, 2015-10-20

Kap's harkens back to days gone by. Expect excellent help with lines, but not a concierge service. We were there over Independance Day weekend and they even had their own fireworks. The restaurant was fun with a 50's motif. If you remember Northwoods resorts of the 60's and 70's you should be right at home here.

Not a Corporate facility, 2014-08-26

Family owned and run Kap's is a step back in time. Like many island people the family is independent and can come across to some as surly. But after talking and sharing stories with family members found everyone very helpful and willing to help.
This is not a 300+ slip facility with lots of dock hands, so don't expect to be catered to. Father and son helped us into the slip and to tie off. Then made sure we were OK while helping 2 other larger boats do the same.
Will, the owner works at every job in the marina and resturant. I walked into the resturant and found him washing dishes then shortly after heading out the channel to assist a stranded boater.
The bathroom facility were better than expected, and the food at the resturant good.
The marina is shared by the Coast Guard facility and adds added security. Our boat was docked close to the Guard's boat and in the zone where regular passers bys were discouraged to go. I would not hesitate to recomend Kap's. To us it was like the family camp grounds of the 50's and early 60's.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kap's 15-18 August. Booked 2 nights and stayed a third. We found the facilites clean, the family very friendly and helpful, and the restaurant the best on the island (also stated by some locals) esp the prime rib. Not the place to go if you're in a huge hurry. The owner wears many hats, works hard and tries to please. We relaxed, thoroughly enjoyed the island, and will definitely stay here again.

Zero stars, this is not a marina, it is a dump! the owner/operator is a frustrated old man who does not need further business, at least not mine, the facility is rundown and the bathrooms are fillthy, do not stay here unless you do not have any where else to go.

Good people, 2012-07-10

Great protection from weather, shallower than normal docks, so be careful which one you venture into. Owner and family run the whole place with a smile. Don't like the island much, but that's not the marina's issue.

Nice marina with restaurant on the grounds. Showers are clean and they have power and water. Only complaint is the dockage fees are about double of any one else

Left turn in before the ferry dock. Call on radio and make sure you have enough water, this can be shallow. I draw 5 and was showing less than one foot. Wooden fixed dock, excellent weather protection. Good resturant.
