On approach to fixed docks and fuel dock mind the current. It can easily reach or exceed 2 kts, and on low tide it will cling you to the fuel dock, so you'll need some springline wizardry to cast off.

Reviews for John's Pass Marina
Pretty much just a fuel dock, 2015-08-13
Captain: , New Port Richey (123)

Marina seems to be just for quick turn around fueling. Dock hands weren't helpful. Restrooms weren't clean. Store had little to offer. Conveniently located though.

OK if you know what you need., 2015-04-06
Captain: , New castle, DE (423)

This marina clearly has some good features. Night time security guard, clean heads, excellent protection from wake, OK protection from the wind, reasonably away from the noise of bars over the channel. Just mind the depth and narrow channel, consider the tidal streams and be ready to dock by yourself.

No frills, but at least away from the boardwalk, 2015-04-02

We were a 36 foot, 5' draft, 57' masted sailboat. Appears only two docks can accommodate us - was not willing to give the floating dock a try. Staff assistance was basic and mostly caters to gas fills, bait and odd replacement parts. Electrical hookup was a problem as we were 30AMP and needed to go three docks over as all other stations were 50 only. Caused and issue with a fellow boater and had to eventually disconnect. Never assume! Did not bother to ask for the 10.00 for the overnight electrical back. Easy walk across bridge and access to the beach/boardwalk - while we love to party, it equally nice to also be far away from the bars/restaurants as well! One side note, bridge operators were very cool and responsive on the opening.

Could be a lot better, 2015-01-15

Staff completely disinterested, no ice and didn%u2019t care, no bait and lied that no one would have any in the area - told there was 6 feet of water at low tide - wrong again - sat on the bottom a few times with a 3'8 draft.
They did have security one guy and he was actually very good.
Bathroom was a single but reasonably good.
We were waked often by fishing charters going in and out, no fault of the marina.
Good spot to walk to Johns Pass shopping and good access to the beach are the only positives %u2013 worst rating I%u2019ve done to date.

Bought 100 gal fuel, 2014-07-05

2 deck hands there(guy and girl)...they both acted like i was putting them out by stopping....they mostly watched as we docked our 40ft regal and then complained that the boat was too big.

John's Pass Marina, 2014-04-21
Captain: , Grand Isle (96)

Called in to reserve a slip and purchase fuel. After the fuel was purchase I was advised that the marina was probably too shallow for a 41' sailor. Wish that I would have been told that ahead of time and I would have continued on to another location.

Great refueling stop, 2013-03-09
Captain: , Gulfport, FL (80)

Stopped here to refuel and the facilities were nice. I was refueled and on my way in less than 20 minutes. The employee was very helpful and had great advice on leaving the dock. The boardwalk is excellent and provides many things to do.

Cheap! 1$/ft Great Value and Location, 2013-01-28
Captain: , St Petersburg FL (110)

This is a dock just off the ICW right at the Pass. Some of the water and electric works. Good restaurants are close. You can watch the boat traffic through the pass. The bathroom is clean. I liked it because it was simple and cheap. There is a lot of shopping on the other side of the bridge and a great restaurant (Gators) on the near side. Quiet spot, friendly staff. They have fuel.

Convenient and inexpensive., 2011-11-16
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (639)

We came in for 5 days with another trawler. One trawler is at the floating dock with water and power in the rear canal. The other trawler is in a fixed wooden dock ain the rear canal alongside charter fishing boats. We purchased stone crabs off one of the boats at a good price. Dock staff is friendly and helpful. They don't get many transients but were happy that we came in. The rate is $1/ft less the 25% BoatUS discount plus electric ($10 for 5 nights). Location is superb. Gator's Restaurant is on site and has courtesy docks. Walk across bridge to lots of shops and restaurants at John's Pass Village and Boardwalk. The Suncoast Ttrolley runs up and down the beach from Clearwater to Pass-a-Grille - inexpensive. Publix is about 1.2 miles south. The marina facilities are run-down, but the price and location makes it a bargain. The depths referred to herein are erroneous - plenty of water all around - 8' or better. There is no pumpout. There is only one restroom - a one holer with a shower - and a community key you need to borrow from the dockmaster. There is a nice freezer in the dockhouse that contains ice cream cones, klondike bars, ice cream sandwiches, etc. We will be returning to this marina in the future.

Enjoyable experience., 2011-04-13

Great place to work on your vessel. Just changed management so, we'll see how it gets better.
