Reviews for Jekyll Harbor Marina
Very Friendly Staff, 2017-05-22
Captain: , Ft Lauderdale (221)

Very friendly and helpful staff here. Bikes and a golf cart are available as part of the dock fee. Restaurant on site was excellent for fresh seafood. Great spot for a layover day to explore the history of the island. Marina itself isn't fancy but it's well kept and the scenery is fantastic and very quiet. Easy access from offshore through St Simons Inlet but suggest mid tide or better for Jekyll creek. All in all one of our favorite stops in the low country.

Friendly and helpful staff on historic quiet island, 2017-05-05
Captain: , Punta Gorda, Fl (960)

We stayed here for the first time, 2 nights while southbound. Dock men knew exactly how to get us docked for fuel and pump out that worked well, and then tie up for overnight. The outside lay along dock is exposed to the winds and wakes. We have had NW winds each day rocking us, but calm by sunset for sleeping. Boaters seem to adhere to no wake zone most of the time. Great location to see the island, either by bikes (marina has nice loaners or use your own), golf cart courtesy of marina, or rent one if here for a longer stay. Docks are cement floating in good repair. Premises clean and well maintained. Pool, private bath/showers and laundry convenient and clean. BBQ good and several shaded picnic tables. Restaurant on site ok. Good wifi and cable
The island is 35% developed, with the remaining a state park. This is a quiet island with great history, natural areas, biking on paved paths about 16 miles, upscale or casual dining, a small grocery and amenities for provisioning, small shops, golf, water park, beautiful beach, and nice hotels if you need to get off the boat.
Prepare for noseeums, even in spring.
We will return here, JI is a special place.
April 2017: this is one of our favorite stops---island has new construction for shops and dining/ Beach gorgeous.

We stayed at Jekyll Harbor Marina on our trip north. I wasa under the gun to get some paperwork done. Chris was very accomodating. He printed my documents so I could sign them and meet the end of April deadline. Thnks Chris!

Great Little Place, 2017-05-05
Captain: , Wilmington, NC (415)

We stopped here to be sure we had high tide to get through Jekyll Creek and wound up staying several days due to weather. Staff we great getting us pumped out and then to our spot along the face dock. The have bikes and golf carts available to tour the island or for shopping. Only drawback was the extreme WSW winds and the 3+ foot waves for which there was no shelter.

Time & Tide, 2017-04-25
Captain: , Longboat Key, FL (1089)

Jekyll Creek always requires extra attention to the tide and time to pass. On this trip, we arrived and dead low tide and opted to hold up at Jekyll Harbor Marina.

Not only is this an easy stop with fueal and face dock tie-up right on the ICW, but the folks here are about as nice and as helpful as they come. The facilities are "okay" and in good condtion. The restaurant right on property is a real plus and the food was quite good.

Only downside is if there is a strong west wind (like last night), then the wave action banging against the side of the boat can be rather loud. Other than that, nothing to complain about at this great location and marina!

plan to stay forever!, 2017-04-15
Captain: , Annapolis (20)

Wonderful location, incredible marina staff with great amenities. Take the bikes and it's a 10 min ride to some of the best beaches we have seen on the ICW. New restaurant, right at marina, Zachary's and wonderful high end grocery store at Beaches "mall" on the beach.

Great Location Great people, 2017-04-14
Captain: , Boca Raton, FL (1522)

This is a great stop. The staff is top shelf and will help in anyway they can. The restaurant has been reopened for about a month. I hate to say it but it was average with a average menu. Hopefully that will improve. If you are going to be there for even a day, you need to rent a Red Bug electric car and explore the island and go to the beach area for dinner and shopping. We went to Tortuga Jacks Restaurant and had a great dinner while watching the moon come up while a great musician performed. Played golf while there and loved the course. Definitely will come back.

Don't miss this one!, 2017-04-12
Captain: , Kemah (130)

Even if you only have a day to check out this place, it is worth your while. Beautiful historic part of the island and great bike, walking trails. Marina is clean and well organized. We stayed two days and loived it.

Extended Stay, 2017-04-02
Captain: , Annapolis (170)

We had only planned on one night but there was so much to do and the people were so fabulous we stayed an extra night. Loaner bikes are great for visiting the island and there are bike paths every where. The restaurant on site is excellent. The slip renters kindly included us in their Saturday night supper. Chris in the office is a sweetheart- Southern hospitality at it's best! Don't miss touring the historic village to see how the 1% used to spend the "winter season".

Great stop - highly recommend!, 2017-03-25
Captain: , Port Aransas, TX (1453)

We stopped for 1 night and stayed 3, 3/8-10/17. What a wonderful island! Marina has a few rough edges (restrooms / showers were very long in the tooth), but can't beat loaner golf carts and bicycles and helpful staff. Docks are in good shape. Restaurant opened just before we left and the fried shrimp were great and very reasonable! Friendly locals added to our pleasant stay. It's an easy bike ride to the beach and historic dictrict. Use a golf cart for longer excursions to the ends of the island.

Restaurant is open!, 2017-03-23
Captain: , Norfolk, VA, USA (185)

We came here planning to stay 2 days and stayed 3 so we could explore the island by bike. The restaurant has reopened and is great. We borrowed the courtesy golf cart the first day to take a quick ride around and figure where we would ride on our bikes the next two days. The staff here was very accommodating and helpful. We didn't use their laundry or shower facilities but they looked to be well maintained and nice.

Love the Island, looked past the faults at the Marina, 2017-02-02
Captain: , Fanning Island, FL (248)

Our 4th visit and we will return just to enjoy Jekyll Island. We were up for Wine & Wiskey festival. It was amazing!!! Had a wonderful time. The marine is getting run down and we were told they were for sale or looking for new managment. The restaurant was closed due to health code violations and has yet to re open. We heard there needed to be some major renovations in the kitchen before they would be allowed to open. We loved sitting by the pool and the hot tub was HOT so that was all great. People are awesome, transient boaters are fun! We will be back but hope for new managers soon.

Charming Island, 2016-12-25
Captain: , Annapolis (3379)

Our third visit. Very helpful staff. Very friendly boat owners. Facilities are OK, but not the best. We dropped our bikes and explored the historic district. Loaner golf cart provides easy access and a tour of the old village and a run into town. Went to the Sea Turtle Center. They do good work but the center itself is light weight; aimed and grade school level. Biked to the grocery store. Marginally adequate offerings, but have a big wine selection. I loved our visit and will be back.

Great stop, 2016-11-25
Captain: , Massapequa,NY (1176)

Good marina with floating docks. Plenty of water in the slips. Helpful & friendly staff. Wifi works great. Nice pool & hot tub. Restaurant is undergoing renovations. Awesome bike trails on the island with plenty to see.

18 Nov Visit, 2016-11-18
Captain: , Colonial Beach, VA (650)

Really disapointed. Made reservations and lady said "but you must leave the next morning. I'm full. No matter the weather." Arrived on Friday to dockhands that could not tie up boat without stern floating away from pier. Had to tie up myself. Once landed found out on site restaurant was closed for remodel. No info on that in web site or when I made reserations. We did get golf carts but had to have them back by 5:30. No exceptions. Trainee registered us and trainer said put "no discounts" in computer. I asked about discounts and they said BOATUS and Active Captain got discounts. I belong to both. Finally got $0.25 per foot discount but only because I heard trainer talkiing to trainee. Final pay per foot was $2.00. Not a chance I'll pay this again for poor service and lack of info. It really is about expectations and mine were not met.

Nice Stop, But Rundown (edited), 2016-11-13
Captain: , Virginia Beach (290)

Jekyll Island is a great place to visit. The Marina could be outstanding, but it appears rundown. I'm sure Hurricane Matthew had some effect, but that doesn't explain the really poor condition of the bathrooms...lights out, holes in walls, not clean, etc.

Marina personnel are very nice and helpful.
With a little work, this Marina could be a showplace. Unfortunately, it is not.

Edit: i have to say that the condition of the bathrooms is even worse than I described above. And I really can't believe that we spent almost $100 for these facilities. We won't make the same mistake again. We love the island, so we will be back. But we will anchor nearby and dinghy in. This place really needs some work...and a new supply of light bulbs

Great place to visit, 2016-10-19
Captain: , Largo, FL (120)

The marina is good and everyone is very friendly. Everyone has stopped to ask how we are, where we're headed etc. We were concerned about the condition of the waterway after the hurricane. There were some Coast Guard guys on the dock who said, as far as they know, all of the displaced markers as far as Miami have been replaced.
The Island is historic and beautiful . Worth the stop.

This is a great place, lots of history, 2016-09-23
Captain: , Not Currently Applicable (71)

This marina was very nice. The marina has a pool, hot tub, free loaner golf cart, free loaner bikes. You can get pretty much anywhere on the island in a short amount of time with the bikes. Great town for history. This town is where the private bank known as the Federal Reserve was cooked up by robber barons in the early 1900s. Make sure to take a history tour while you're there. Only possible downside is that the bathrooms aren't air conditioned, so just take your showers early morning or late evening if you're here in the warmer months. Very great helpful staff.

great marina, complimentary golf carts, 2016-05-16
Captain: , Mystic,CT (202)

Stayed in early May 2016 for one night. One of my favorite islands. Great marina but the onsite restaurant was shut down. The newly opened convention center about an easy bicycle ride away had mini grocery store (little expensive).

Very nice, 2016-05-08
Captain: , Cape Canaveral (1191)

We had a very nice couple days here without expense as promised over a year ago. The new manager Bill and dockmaster Terry could not have been nicer. Bikes and golf cart were made available for exploring the island. The restaurant under renovation, but it is a lovely older buildign in a beautiful setting, so we look forward to it reopening. While there, we experienced unusually low tides exacerbated by 35+ kt winds out of the WNW, but our 4' draft Krogen Express remained [barely] afloat on the outside of the transient face dock very near the southern end. We'll be back.

The ugly incident below occured Dec 1, 2014. A few days after leaving, management called, apologized for the incident, and refunded the two nights we stayed at the marina. He said he would send a letter offering a week free stay, then changed it to a free weekend but have not received it as of Dec 17, 2014.

We were put on the fuel dock Saturday evening and not asked to move on Sunday, which we would have been happy to do. We had a nice experience and inquired about staying on a monthly basis. NOT NOW.

Monday morning at 7:35 AM, what appeared to be a marina employee beat his fist loudly on our pilot house door demanding my intentions and wanting me off in 5 minutes. We quickly got ready to go, but this guy remained nearby aggressively pacing back and forth, evicting several other boats on the face dock, and blocking me from dock water hose. Dockmaster Terry came down and I asked her if this dude worked for her and she said he was a local boater that helps them out. Apparently, Terry dispatched him to get us off the dock because her assistants, two young guys, let me stay there Sunday night and told her I refused to leave. A lie. I respect dockmasters and would not refuse any reasonable request, especially to move off the fuel dock. This dude sent to evict me wanted a fist fight and I was happy to oblige, but he backed off and returned to the dockmaster office.

Too much drama. Too many other nice marinas. Never coming back to Jekyll and Hyde Marina. ZERO STARS. I only put 1 star because that was the least Active Captain permitted.

Nice Marina, 2016-05-06
Captain: , St Marys GA (30)

We spend the night there on our 44 ft sailboat. The staff was very courteous.

Very friendly, helpful staff, nice dock., 2016-04-24
Captain: , Southport, NC (637)

Enjoyed the great paved bike trails on the island. Friendly atmosphere on docks.

Loved it here! Nice people, easy docking, free bikes!, 2016-03-22
Captain: , Panama City FL (330)

Enjoyed our day/ night here. Used the free bikes to go to lunch at the Rah Bar just north of us. Fabulous Dungeness Crabs, She Crab Soup and fresh Redfish for lunch although $$. Then biked to the beach and the Wee Pub and explored the south side of the island. So happy to see the new improvements, a mini- san destin now without all of the people (maybe still early in the season). The weather was perfect - cool and no bugs.

Easy access and warm welcome, 2016-03-19
Captain: , Milwaukee, Wisconsin (60)

This Marina is a gem located right on the ICW with easy access on and off the face dock. With 3 dock hands to assist, a friendly and warm welcome, office staff who go over and above providing information about the history/things to do on the island, this experience was great. The island has well kept walking / bike paths and is rich in history (of the rich!).

Best stop on the ICW, 2016-03-15
Captain: , Sanibel (195)

We stayed the month of Feb. 2016. You do not need the restaurant at the marina.( restaurant is closed but will re open) The marina will lend you bikes for the BEST bike trails anywhere. You can access all the restaurants in 5 min by bike including the Jekyll Island Club. The whole island is a State park 15 miles of public access beach. Can not say enough nice things about staff, restrooms modern and clean

A nice way to see the Jekyl Island Club, 2016-02-04
Captain: , Hilton Head Island, SC (365)

Stopped here the other day to do the walk through of the historic area. Jekyll Creek is a "little skinny" at low tide but workable. The marina staff was very helpful but we were disappointed to find the restaurant at the Marina is closed for good, as of 12/31/15. The Walk to the Historic area is only a mile on a walking path and the Jekyll Island Club staff will pick you up and take you back to the marina if you ask them. It was perfect for an after dark trip in for a wonderful dinner. We ate at the Crane "cottage" which has excellent food without the "pretension" of dressing for dinner.

Stopped for dog to poop, 2016-02-01
Captain: , southport nc (30)

Great place. The people were great and the loaned me a bike to go to the store. Shoveled the poop and rolled out.

A nice place to stay for a while, 2016-01-01
Captain: , Beaufort, NC (531)

If it were not for the exposure to the weather, I would have given this marina five stars. You are tied up to a face dock and wind out of the south can make things exciting. There can also be a wake problem when one of the jerks who can not understand the "no wake" sign come past.

Aside from the above the place is wonderful. It is right on the ICW, has fuel, a pumpout ($15.00) and the rate is reasonable. The staff is on the ball and will be happy to help you with any questions. There is a restaurant at the marina but for serious dining you want to head for the Jekyll Island Club. In fact, if you have the time a tour of the historic distric is a must. You can find out hown the rich and famous lived back aroud 1900.

They have made quite a few chages over the last few years. There is now a high end market available next to the convention center. It is well stocked and also has a few restaurants inside. Be forwarned, nothing on Jekyll Island is cheap.

Public transportation is very limited, so bring your bikes or be prepared to rent a car from Enterprise, in Brunswick, they will pick you up at the marina. If you rent a car, everything that you will ever need is in Brunswick.

If you like to ride bikes, the Island has over 20 miles of trails. The locals will stop for you where the trail crosses the road. Most tourists, not so. They will flatten you ass in a heartbeat.

We arrived in early December and ended up staying for the entire month. We will be back in the spring.

Jekyll Harbor Marina, 2015-11-28
Captain: , NY NY (40)

Great stop, laundry 5.00 for day, cable, golf carts to borrow for an hour and a half, so you can cruise to town. The grocery store flash foods is awesome it's small but has everything you could imagine and the aroma is awesome. This was a hard Marina to leave, people very friendly and helpful.

Nice Marina and Great Staff, 2015-11-27
Captain: , Oriental, NC (190)

Everything worked and the staff was great. Well maintained, clean and very responsive to a call on 16. A nice perk was the availability of golf carts to run into the shopping area. The restaurant on site is OK but not the best experiience for us.

A Nice Stop After A Long Day, 2015-11-20
Captain: , Aurora, Indiana (100)

We were thinking of crossing St Andrews Bay and finding a late anchorage on the other side. We decided to call and check on availability. Megan, the dockmaster had one spot left and offered it to us. We decided to stop and enjoy a marina. And had a great time.

nice island, marina should upgrade a bit, 2015-11-20
Captain: , annapolis, MD (120)

Jekyll Island is a very nice place. The marina is ok but could use a little upgrade to match. Electrical on the long, easy approach pier for example, was short on 50A outlets. Restrooms about average. On site restaruant looks ok for very casual but there is a nicer restaurant a walk or short bike ride away, Lattitude 31.
Approach depths in Jekyll Creek to the north were very low at low tide, maybe just five feet.

very nice place to stop / side to, 2015-11-14
Captain: , Rock Hall, MD (110)

floating docks, competent staff, restaurant on site. easy walk to beach. shopping area limited: seems very new, but several store fronts are vacant.

Great marina to visit Jekyll Island, 2015-11-04
Captain: , Fort Pierce City Marina, FL (460)

We spent 2 nights here and thoroughly enjoyed the marina & the island. Be sure to use the marina's bikes to visit the historic district & take the tram tour. An amazing piece of history here!
Good wifi, laundry facilities and a clean pool & nice hot tub for the marina.

A first class facility, 2015-11-04
Captain: , Rowayton, CT (199)

The only negative is the restaurant which serves mediocre food

Great marina and a fun place to visit, 2015-10-26
Captain: , Charleston, SC (74)

We have really enjoyed our week stay here, the staff is very out going in making our stay pleasent.

We have spent everday exploring the 25+ miles of outstanding bike trails, the beach and the historical village. The drift wood beach on the north end is a must see (at low tide). We started at Clam Creek fishing pier and then followed the beach back to the Village, a 6 mile beach ride.

The great sunsets have been a nice way to end our day. We will be back in the spring!

Good place to stop south of the shallow area, 2015-10-24

Rock sideways in west wind, 2015-09-15
Captain: , Ocean Spings Mississippi (225)

Very good atmosphere restaurant and bar. Small showers. Spent one night alongside north-south pier. Wind from west, long fetch no protection. Pretty uncomfortable. Nothing management can do anything about.

Got taken advantage of , poor service, 2015-07-08
Captain: , Montgomery Alabama (1102)

A black wicked cloud on the horizon with strong wind made us decide to pull into this marina . The only dock space I could find was on the inside , so I went for it . After several attempts to dock in the strong wind and current , I finally succeeded with the help of some fellow boaters . I went up to the office and found the dock hands . I also saw our Gypsy on the extensive array of cameras . They had watched our ordeal and didn't come down to lend a hand . I was told I wasn't in a real slip and would have to be out by 8:00 am . Perhaps if a dockhand had shown up , I could have gotten into a "real" slip . I told them we were just looking for a safe place in case the storm hit . I was then charged the price of a "real" slip . $58.00 to tie up two lines to their cleats .There was no offer to help me move or offer me a discount because of where I was at .
To top it all off , the shower bathroom had two of three lightbulbs burned out . We had to shower in a dimly lit room .
We will never stop here again , not even with a pending storm !

Love Jekyll Island, 2015-06-16
Captain: , Sunbury, Ga (352)

Great stop with free golf cart usage, pool, clean restrooms. Easy in and out.

Laid back and very historical, 2015-05-20
Captain: , Midway,GA (261)

Called the marina and was met at the dock by Megan and she helped us into our slip and tied us up. When going to slips be sure to get instructions from the marina on how to approach the slip side of the face dock. Megan was great checking us in and giving us local information. The free bicycles and the golf carts were an added plus for our stay. We were warned the resturant on site was over priced and the quality of food was a little short of being good and we found this out to be true. Restrooms and showers were clean. We will stay here again ,had a wonderful time except we will find another resturant to have dinner.

our favorite place, 2015-05-16
Captain: , Pungoteague, VA (272)

We came for a week and stayed for 5, and at that, we hated to leave. This is partly because Jekyll Island is a magical place. But also, JIM is a great marina. They have a terrific monthly rate (but be careful, if you stay an extra couple of days, that's at the regular daily rate).

They have plenty of loaner bikes and a couple of loaner golf carts (with a strict 1-1/2 hour limit).

A lot of no-seems, but can't blame the marina for that. Everyone was very friendly.

great location to see the island, 2015-05-16
Captain: , Merritt Island Florida (250)

Spent 2 nights here to explore the island, restaurant on site was very good. Personnel were very helpful and nice. Used courtesy golf cart to run to grocery store. clean shower/bathroom/laundry facilities. Walked to Jekyll Island Club in historic district, island has a lot of history. Bike paths all over island so you don't have to walk on highways. Definitely will stop here again.

Great stay and service, 2015-04-13
Captain: , Sanford, FL (206)

We stayed here for three nights last week and really enjoyed it. The marina was well kept with nice floating concrete docks and some nice ammenities like loaner golf carts and bicycles. WiFi was also good. We recieved excellent service by the entire crew when arriving and later when fueling. We did not try the onsite restaurant as others were highly recommended--our favorite being Driftwood Bistro on the other side of the island. (FYI decent bottles of wine for $15 and a great story from the owner as to why...)
I'd highly recommend a tour or even electric car rental for a day to explore the island if you have time. A convienence store is with in walking distance and the island's only grocery store (IGA) is located beachside a couple of miles a way but reachable with the loaner carts.

My only caution would be the gnats/noseeums that frequent this island in spring and fall. You will need some type of repellant or you get eaten alive at certain times of the day in certain locactions. I noticed some for sale in the marina office.

Fairly priced with discounts for active captain and boatus, extremely pet friendly, and southern hospitality make this a great stop for a couple of days.

Great experience, 2015-04-12
Captain: , Oxford, MD (810)

We stopped on our way south in January for fuel and staff and other boaters were so nice. They suggested we stop on our way back north and stay for a night or two. We just completed our third night and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We biked around the island on the marina bikes. Because it was threatening rain, Megan at the office, suggested we call if we wanted someone to come and get us later. She was also helpful with restaurant suggestions and said we should take the tram tour. We did and it was a wonderful experience. We learned about the history of JI and toured two of the "cottages" in the historic district. Today we borrowed one of the golf carts and provisioned, also had a great brunch at the hotel. The island is very beautiful and the hospitality here is hard to beat. Thank you everyone at JIM!

great location poor service and management, 2015-04-05
Captain: , Ft Myers, Florida (1804)

Great location near Jekyll Hotel. Hotel will pick u up for dinner!
Marina has nice concrete docks and helpful dock hands.
Power pedestal did not work even though it had been worked on the prior day by an electrician. We had to move the boat after getting all tied up . We're not charged for power. The second pedestal worked. The manager got the electrician out right away to check out the problem .
Had a terrible experience at the restaurant. We arrive at 145pm waiting 20 min had two waitresses walk past us 10 times never bothered to stop and ask us anything. Seemed to just want us to leave which we did.
The office clerk was very nice but the office was somewhat of a mess as was the high and dry. Seems this place has management issues. Too bad as it is really the only spot for Jekyll.

Very helpful and friendly staff., 2015-03-19
Captain: , Montgomery, AL (161)

Great location and easy docking. Had abundant help getting in from friendly and courteous staff. On-site restaurant was a bit disappointing with very long wait and average food. Might have just been an off night, as it came highly recommended. Waitress allowed that they were short-handed. I would give them another shot.

4 stars only because the Island doesn't have much to offer, 2015-02-28
Captain: , Hampton, VA (271)

The marina is great, good people that respect your business. The restaurant is good, with a (limited) bar. There is a pool but it is under the trees and gets lots of tree debris. They keep it as clean as possible, but the trees don't cooperate. Showers and laundry are well maintained.

GREAT UPGRADES, 2015-02-26

We stay at this marina a few times a year and it just gets better. Wifi is great and they now have cable. Staff is superb and very helpful.

We docked the boat very easily of the ICW after a long day on a long open T head. The forcast was cold and windy for that night. The dock master was nice and helpful even though it was nearly closing time. They let us burrow a fancy golf cart the next morning to explore the island and get groceries, no charge. We bought diesel cheap, with free water and pump out. On our way South and happy.

Very friendly staff, 2015-01-21
Captain: , Clayton, NY (655)

They are doing some renovations to make it even nicer - picnic area and new grill and fire pit. Nice looking pool and hot tub which were closed when we were there. Bathrooms were clean and they had space heaters since it was cold. We used their new bikes are rod the beautiful bike trails around the island. Very easy ride since it was flat. I think we rode the entire 50 mi or more the 3 days we were there.

Great service, 2015-01-01

Dock help was outstanding in some very difficult winds. Definitely would stop here again. The food at the restaurant was inedible and service was very poor. Date original entry was 11/27/2014

Excellent Marina, 2014-12-22

First visit. Will be back. Easy docking with great help from the staff. Free golf carts and brand new bicycles to explore the island. The restaurant at the marina had great food and was a lot of fun. Good locals crowd.

Don't Miss Jekyll Island...Dinghy deal, 2014-12-13
Captain: , Rockland, ME (283)

For $ can tie up either your boat or dinghy for 4 hours and use their showers, bikes and laundry and then anchor across or down the river. Would have used the bikes but they didn't have kid bikes that fit our needs so we dinghied down to the Wharf Marina and tied up for free and walked through the Historic District.

Great people and service, 2014-11-27
Captain: , Huntsville, AL (588)

Great place for overnight or longer term. Gas, pump-out, clean showers, pool, hot tub and laundry. Laundry available, but it costs extra and only one machne is available. The restaurant onsite has live music on Thu, Fri, and Sat, and has a new owner that brought in a great chef along with a fantastic new menu. The sunsets from the dock are amazing. What makes this place so great is the people and the marina staff. Scott does a fantastic job with this place and is the reason we decided to leave our boat here for our home base.

November Visit, 2014-11-26
Captain: , Christmas Cove ME (150)

We stopped for the night on the way South...we have stayed many times before and always thought this was a home run. This was no exception. The dock attendant couldn't have been more helpful, even to asking if we had trash to send with him after we'd tied up. New bicycles this year, no charge, and NEW GOLF CARTS (complimentary) which are road legal on the Island. We all piled in and went to the Jekyll Wharf for raw oysters and beer.

A must stop over, 2014-11-24
Captain: , Beaufort, NC (282)

Marina folks very friendly and accommodating. They made room for us on a very busy day of ICW traffic. Jekyll is the real treat for stopping and staying a the Harbor Marina. Do the tour of the Historic District and enjoy the miles of true bike paths.

A Little Piece of Paradise!, 2014-11-05
Captain: , Annapolis (1465)

Very laid back and relaxing marina and staff. They really go out of their way to make you feel at home.

They now have two 4-person golf carts (at no cost) to drive around the island. Also, they just purchased 10 new bikes!

Laundry no longer requires tokens. $5 gets use of the two washer/driers for the entire day!

A Very Quiet Friendly Marina, 2014-10-24
Captain: , New Rochelle, NY (1000)

I've been here before, but it was late in the season, cold and we arrived late in the day and left early the next day. This time we got here early and got to experience what makes this place special. The new owner of the SeaJay Cafe and Pub, Vic, can't do enough to make you happy. Great entertainment and the food was terrific! Last night he set up a bar on the porch and there was free cocktails all night long.
Today we're spending the day enjoying the numerous bike trails covering the entire island.

Easy bike ride to action. The restaurant at the marina was very good. Showers were a bit dated but OK.

We'll be back and stay a few days, for sure.

Great place to spend a few days., 2014-08-04
Captain: , Jacksonville Fl (1550)

Good facility, friendly staff, pool and cable TV. We like exploring by bike and this is a great place for it. Don't worry if you don't have one, they have loaners. Bike trails all around the island and at low tide the beach is endless. We like stopping here and it's easy as you pass right next to the docks anyway as you travel north or south.

Nice marina with great bike trails along the beach and into the historic area, 2014-06-19
Captain: , St Pete Beach, Florida (278)

The marina staff was welcomoing and accomodating. The showers were nice, and we enjoyed the pool. Bicycles are available and ithe excellent bike trails provide easy rides along the beach (you can ride on the beach at low tide), or ride into the historic district. Take the tram tour of the historic area. The best deal is lunch at the elegant Jekyll Island Club Grand Dining Room. The on site restaurant is average, but handy for a quick lunch. The courtesy car was not in service but the staff provided a ride into the historic district, and a pick up if we needed it. The Island Club gave us a ride back to the marina. The only area needing improvement is the laundry room, which was being renovated.

beautiful island and friendly marina, 2014-04-28
Captain: , Newark DE (110)

We stayed here three nights. We love Jekyll Island. So much history and what a beautiful place. The marina has an okay restaurant on site but the marina has loaner bikes and you can ride to other restaurants in the Historic District. The staff at this marina will go out of their way to accommodate your needs. We needed to refill a prescription and Scott offered to drive us the eleven miles to the pharmacy. He and his staff are the best! He even gave us free tokens for the laundry facilities. Friendly live a boards on the docks, too.

Really friendly area!, 2014-04-25
Captain: , Sanford, Fl. (887)

We have been going past this place for years but decided to stop this time. Spent 2 nights and really enjoyed the place. The dock staff and office staff were more than just welcoming they acted like they were really glad you stopped by. Spent most of one day riding bicycles around the island on the over 30 miles of paths. What a really cool place. Good food at the restaurant right at the marina with several other choices within a short bike ride.

Jekyll Island Harbor Marina, 2014-04-24

Easy stop for fuel. Good prices with Boat US discount. Asked if they had a store. Needed a loaf of bread. They offered to loan me a bike. I have trouble with my knee. One of the dock hands drove me to the local store. Great little place. Bought some of the best meat there. Every one at the Marina was super Nice and very Helpfull.

What took us so long?, 2014-04-14
Captain: , MV Red Head (3106)

This is one of those stops that we kept talking about making but never quite did. We finally pulled in for a night and wished we could have stayed longer. The marina is nice and the staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. If you need anything do not hesitate to ask as they will help if they can.

Since our stay was short, Scott and Jeff took us on a guided tour of the island and we quickly could see that we needed to come back for a spell. There are wonderful bike trails all over the island taking you through quiet woods and marshes, as well as, to a choice of restaurants, bars, and shops. They are separated from the traffic making your trip safe. And if you don't have your own bike onboard you can borrow one of theirs.

If you're into golf this is the stop for you. Or you can tour the beautiful "summer cottages" of Americas wealthiest families. But whatever you do, do not miss Driftwood Beach - I've never seen anything like it! We had a great time and will definitely plan on staying longer next time. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Nice Small Marina, 2014-03-14
Captain: , Deltaville, VA (602)

Very nice small marina right on the Atlantic ICW. Gas, diesel, pumpout, 30 and 50 amp, water, strong WIFI, Cable TV, Restrooms are at the onsite SeaJay restaurant and are unisex. Bicycles are available for trips into the town for provisions.
It is a little over one mile to the Jekyl Island Club Hotel in the historic district which is very nice with a few shops and fine dining restaurant.
Transient dockage is on a floating long dock that is totally exposed to the ICW wakes and waves.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Good place to stop for a night or a week.

Warm Welcome, 2014-03-07

Just leaving after 3 months at Jekyll Island Marina. Highly recommend this marina - beautiful sunsets and helpful friendly staff. After 3 months we feel like family. SeaJays restaurant has music Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. The Wharf Ratz's music on Thursday night is great fun. Jekyll Island is a beautiful place with 20 miles of bike paths along the beach, historical district, and through the maritime forest. Do not miss this!

The marina delat with the problem in great fashoion and I am grateful for their help and generosity. The Coast Guard docked in fornt of us after replacing Marker 31A in St. Andrews Sound. A good day after all

A great place to Bike, 2014-01-30
Captain: , Shelburne, VT (120)

We stayed here in December. Xmas lights were pretty in town we used the marina bikes to bike around the island. Staff was helpful they provided cable tv boxes for Sunday games. A quiet place to relax. We arrived during low tide which made it easy to see where the channel is. Clean restrooms and showers and a resaurant on premises.

You are there!, 2014-01-15
Captain: , Jekyll Island, GA (10)

GREAT, SCENIC location on the ICW. Draws you in and makes you want to stay. STAFF is superb. Scott the manager has brought a lot of life to the Marina. Easy access to a great island to tour. Biking, beach, historic area, restaurants all close by and the list goes on. Be sure to make this a destination stop. You will not be dissapointed! PS: Bring your dog as this is a dog friendly dock and they will get a lot of lovin! OK.. and the people are freindly too!

Even better than before, 2014-01-14
Captain: , Portsmouth NH (10)

We have stayed here many times in past years but this year was even better. Scott Todd and the dock crew were very accommodating and we're able to get us an excellent mechanic (Leo Ross) who fixed our overheating problem and saved us a trip to a yard. We left the boat for a month in an inside berth and stayed several more weeks before heading South.
The bike paths on the island have been improved and extended and one can ride the beach from one end to the other at low tide.

A great little marina, 2014-01-14
Captain: , Jekyll island Marina (10)

I have had boats here for several years... I would not want to be anywhere else on the intercoastal. Name the ammenities one wants in a marina ...they are here plus much else...Where can one walk to the beach...and to a new and great sea side village coming next year.
But, things do not make a marina. The new manager that we have now is tops where it counts.. He knows people and customer service as well as any one I have observed. Managing lots of people in the customer service business for 40 years I know professional when I see it. Scott is as good as they come when dealing with people. People at a marina, those staying and passing are a hard lot to please. People who deal with Scott have many compliments for him..He is the major asset here, more importantly than all the physical assets that this places has. I have seen what it is like when people try to lead here not having the people skills that Scott possesses...not pretty.

We have moved South and already we miss JHM, 2014-01-13
Captain: , Jekyll Island Ga (482)

After four years keeping sometimes 2 boats at JHM, Jean and I have started our move South. This was our plan to move off the sailboat and onto the trawler "The Office" and travel South in the winter and back to JHM for the summer. We suffered a couple of dock masters that were average or below in customer service and peolpe skills. Then Scott took over! After Scott we enjoyed the integrity and attitude of the marina towards customer service. Many times we observed Scott going the extra mile to help boaters. Working long days and sometimes extra days , Scott would make sure people came first. I told him many times if I still had an automotive dealership he would be running it for me at three times the pay. We plan to return to JHM if Scott is still there because we like the island, ammenities and the people on the docks. Thanks to Scott for bringing JHM out of it's sleep and into the 21st Century of boating. It is always good to deal with people that have the right attitudes.

Great little marina, 2014-01-13
Captain: , Wilmington DE (10)

Be sure to stop here. It is dog friendly and people friendly too. Scott and his crew go out of their way to make your stay pleasurable. The marina is well run, clean and you will want to return. Jekyll Island is pedestrian and bike friendly and the marina has bikes to use on site. Highly recommended.

Come on! It's easy to get here!, 2014-01-13
Captain: , Jekyll Island, Ga (10)

The Ga coast is such a pictoral place - the misinformation of low water is untrue. Pay attention to your piloting.
Jekyll Harbor Marina - pool, tub, pic-nic area with grills, friendly accomodating staff! One of the most attractive things about this marina is the green space between the docks and parking - no hot asphalt right off the dock....nice and easy!

Worth a visit, 2013-12-03
Captain: , Baltimore, MD (1190)

Stayed two nights and enjoyed the historic area. Nice marina with competent dock hands. Didn't use the facilities so can't comment. The face dock is exposed to passing boats but never got rocked as most everyone seems to pass by slowly. Very friendly people on resident boats all up and down the dock. The marina appears to be a common stopping point for snowbirds as we ran into a few we've seen throughout the trip.

Took a nice walk along a path and foot bridges to the historic area. Nice old homes and hotel as all as numerous gift shops all within a small area. Friends took an early evening carriage ride to see the homes all lit up for Christmas.

A Destination, 2013-12-01
Captain: , Buffalo, New York (1809)

LOVE Jekyll Harbor Marina! The team is incredibly service-oriented, friendly, and, they attend to detail. A special thanks to the help and patience docking (they were very full, and, our vessel does not do "sideways" well....). The marina has many bicycles with which to explore, and, there is alot to explore on foot (the beach is a 10 minute walk, and, the historic town isn't much further...). The marina offered to take us in whatever direction we needed (including off the island for robust groceries). Can't wait to return and spend more time. Thank you Terry, Randy and Scott!

Nice stop for Jekyll Island, 2013-11-19
Captain: , Lewis Creek, Md (1304)

Recently visited, the rental car was broken. I had a boat put 2 feet in front of me. When I asked to move because of a 5:30 am start, they would get me out at 5:30,a deck hand was sent, but the departure did not go well causing $600 of gelcoat damage. Beware!

Still one of our favorite stops, 2013-11-05
Captain: , baltimore md (644)

Scott and Megan were quick to catch and secure our lines, always nice when you have some current to deal with. We particularly like this Sea Island and recommend the trolley tour. We also find The Sea Jays low country boil very good. There is a very nice group of liveaboards to chat with. We were there 10/22-23/13 and found the Marina just about at capacity. Maybe calling ahead would be wise.

Great little marina with excellent staff, 2013-10-18
Captain: , Key West, FL (150)

Had a great stay here. Nice marina, great staff who helped us tie up. Pool, nice private showers, hot tub, restaurant on site, courtesy bikes to ride around the Island. Scott, the dockmaster, gave us lots of local info and good advice. Restaurant on site was OK, but Renee the bartender was great and allowed us to watch a baseball playoff game outside on the deck TV, after they closed up!). We had the best low country boil ever at the Rah Bar (FYI-Loretta is a great waitress!), about a mile away at Jekyll Wharf Marina (which is currently closed due to shoaling, but is scheduled to be dredged soon, or so we heard). Excellent marina and we hope to return one day.

Plesant surprise, 2013-09-23
Captain: , Marco Island, FL (1145)

UPDDATE!!! We have stayed here mulitple times and every time has been great. This time, we kept calling but didn't get an answer either on the radio or phone. Quite we heard from another boater which way the current was running and have no problem tying up without help. But as we got really close, they hailed us and did everything they could to help tie us up. Turns out they had a problem with a dredge and all hands on deck! Well we got in with no problem - one of the guys got back in time to grab lines. What happened next was truly unexpected. We were told due to their problems, our night would be comped - just pay for electric!!!! $7 for the night. Truly unexepected and appreciated.

The dockhands are great! We fought tide and wind when we tied up. They had us in with ease. There's a pool and restaurant that we were told was so-so and were right. But the dockmaster lives on his boat right at the marina. He offered to drive us and pick us up if we wanted to go to a great restaurant! There is a historic district that is made up of old plantations. Nice bike ride away but there's not much else there. Short bike ride to the beach - a great restaurant Fins is right on the beach.

Superb stop, 2013-08-13
Captain: , Mayport Florida (452)

Fantastic stopover with excellent service. Kudos especially to Megan. Free use of bikes and courtesy car put this marina over the top. On site pool was a big relief during our hot August visit. Rich, local TowboatUS operator, is a big help for local knowledge navigation. Don't recommend approaching Jekyll island from the sea via St Andrews sound if you draw more than 4 ft. Charted depth is much less at low tide and numerous markers are missing inside of "STA".

Great stop, don't pass up Jekyll Harbor, 2013-07-17
Captain: , Englewood, Fl (351)

We enjoyed three days at Jekyll Harbor Marina. The harbormaster, Scott Todd, was extremly helpful. They have a courtesy car, and the use of bikes is included with dockage. Jekyell Island is worth exploring and Latitude 31 is a good restaurant. We did not eat at the on site restaurant but the beer was ice cold.

Thought we would stop here to see what was happening with TS Chantel but she broke apart. we took advantage of the 3 for 2 special ther are having. Nice spot with a nice pool, hot tub, free car and bicycles. Went to the local IGA small store about 1.5 miles away and stocked up. They had everything but was a bit high priced. We took our two grands sons who are traveling with us for a few weeks to the water park near by and had a fun day.We are going to tour the island on bikes and see the sites. The staff here are great to work with. This is a great stop to relax if you are cruising up or down the ICW.

Hat's off to Megan, very helpful and friendly. Rented bikes one day and then got fuel and water the next morning. So helpful in both cases. Easy approach at slack tide and with parallel floating dock would be just as easy when running. Would refuel here again

Captain: , Stuart Fl (300)

May 5, 2013 -We arrived 3:45PM. Terri the dockmastergot us docked andset upwith power and water. Since we were too far from the power post for our 50 AMP cord to reach she provided arevese Y and connected us to a closer post with 2x 30 AMPcircuits. This worked until I startedcooking dinner. We poppedthe circuit twice. At this point we dug out our 10 foot extension and connected to the original power post. OK after that. Friendy staff-easy in and out and convenient stop on the ICW.

Very good floating docks. Dock staff very competent and friendly. Also in at 7AM to make getting off a little easier. They pack the boats in tight.

Holy Cats! Incredible Service, 2013-05-20
Captain: , St. Louis, MO (1850)

We have been to several marinas with staffs that rocked. The folks here are the best so far. SCOTT is too awesome for words. SERVICE, FRIENDLINESS, ACCOMADATING, READY TO PLEASE, EAGER TO PLEASE. We got laid up here for some big service issues and MIss Terri (also great) took us to a hotel. Found the room had a refrigerator. Scott picked us back up and took us back to the marina then back to the hotel with all of our food. Unbelievable.
Shore power might be bit suspcious. Several boats, including us, had issues with circuits tripping while trying to establish shore power.

When our engine overheated in St Andrews Sound, TowBoat/US towed us into this marina. The staff was extremely helpful in tying us up. Offered the use of their courtesy car so that I could replace a lost bolt for my raw water pump. We were only there to complete the repair but there were no charges. Very nice marina and facilities. Highly recommend.

Good Marina but Plan for Additional Charges, 2013-04-20
Captain: , oriental, nc (10)

We are currently staying at this marina and having a great experience except that we are a 37 ft. sail and they wanted to charge us for 49 ft. They said our dinghy, davits, and even our anchor took up space on their face dock. Finally settled on paying for 42 ft., a first for us in 6 yrs of cruising. Scott is great and does all he can do to help. Appreciate the clean showers, wifi that actually works, courtesy car and loaner bikes. Just budget for extra charges on dockage.

Great place, exceedingly helpful staff, 2013-04-16
Captain: , Eastport, MD (532)

Agree with other reviewers. Plus the Jekyll Island Club (i.e. Millionaires Club) will provide transportation to their restaurant for dinner (or champagne Sundy Brunch in our case - expensive but fabulous). Bike's are in excellent shape - rode to the far north end of the Island one day (nice bike path along north side of the marsh past the fishing pier) and to the south end the next. I highly recommend the bike paths through the prehistoric seeming nature preserve just south of the marina driveway. The only downside is the bugs - sometimes not bad, other times voracious. The marina sells bug repellant that appears to work (i.e. it's loaded with DEET), but don't get it near your brightwork. (don't ask how I know that:-) Oh, and WIFI is excellent - seemd faster than our cable internet at home. We're at the far southern end of the dock and have strong signal on the laptops themselves - no need to use our external high power antenna.

What a great marina! And it will be better!, 2013-04-15
Captain: , Hartfield (281)

Spent three days here waiting for weather and the tides to straighten out. Read a previous review and told the dockmaster Scott Todd that it was true--this is a what else can we do for you marina. He said that is his whole mantra. In June they begin dredging so that the slips behind the face dock will be deep and can be utilized as well by transients; right now they are pretty much limited to the face dock. There is a pretty large liveaboard community here and quite frankly, we looked into winter space as well. Much quieter than Florida. There is a courtesy car which will get you to the pretty good IGA on the island and loaner bikes to have as long as you like. I would give it a five, except there are a few places for improvement, like the restaurant, which is not part of the marina. Showers are not gold plated, like the five star marinas, but exceeding clean.
Good dock hands handle the strong currents at the face dock beautifully.

The Staff will always great you with a smile and the new manager is there to make sure the guest comes first. Great Prices and Service.

I don't give five stars very often, 2013-04-02
Captain: , Athens, AL (641)

This is a "how else can I help you marina." Wow. Can't list all the ways they tried to help. Bathrooms/showers were spotless. 3 nights for the price of three and the regular rate was already competitive. Lots of loopers here. Courtesy car available for a limited time so it's available to all but the staff will take you where you need to go also. Great food at SeaJay's and plenty to see on Jekyll.

What a great stop, 2013-03-29
Captain: , Reedville, VA (689)

This is the only place on three trips up and down the ICW where I have been thanked for stopping on arrival and departure. The staff is the best. Dropped us off in town and picked us up. We will be regulars at this marina. Many items to try at the onsite restaurant.

Jekyll Harbor Marina, 2013-03-25
Captain: , Kenosha, WI (13)

Nice Marina with great help and everything you need. Provisioning is limited but ok. The Island is adding walk ways to the Historic District so you will no longer have to walk in the street to get there. There is a tram for a tour of the Historic Distric and many older homes to see. Also the Georgia Sea Turtle Center is worth a visit. Overall it is a great place to stop and spend a coulple of days walking around the Island. They also rent electric cars, bikes, etc for those that do no want to walk.

Quaint and charming, 2013-03-13
Captain: , St. Thomas, USVI (624)

What an adorable, quaint little place. The staff and residents of the marina were all very friendly and many were regular guests providing a family-like atmosphere. The beach out on the east side of the island is beautiful and we would have liked to spend more time exploring, but we were passing through and stayed only one night (January 2013). There are no big developments here or old homes knocked down to make way for McMansions. It is charming and nostalgic and many of the 40%u2019s and 50%u2019s era dwellings are in impeccable condition in keeping with their original design. The marina itself is small, but it has everything you need for an enjoyable stay including a courtesy car.

Very nice location, 2013-01-19
Captain: , Topsail Beach, NC (480)

This Marina has everything you could want - courtesy car, laundry, pool, clean private baths, floating docks. Jekyll is a nice place to visit. Beautiful trees covered with Spanish Moss, nice beach. Restaurant at marina is very good and reasonable.

We had stayed here once before about 3 years ago and they still had us in their system and welcomed us back like we were old friends. Very helpful at the dock.

Captain: , Oriental (270)

This is a llovely marina with great access to visit Jekyll Island. It is nicely located at about the midpoint for seeing the island. They have free loaner beach comber bikes that were great (and the manager wants to get newer ones!) Despite being on an outside facedock we had no trouble with rocking or waves. All the dock hands were very friendly, helpful, and customer oriented. The grounds are shady and very nice. There is a lovely pool and hot tub (but they were just closing up for the season.) The showers are very clean and nice. The laundry is handy and the dryers run 55 minutes and very hot so all the clothes in a full washer load dried just fine with one cycle. They have a courtesy van you can borrow and when there was a mix up on the scheduling they were kind enough to borrow a local member's car to drive us on our errand!

Mixed plus/minus: there is a pleasant restaurant on site. We enjoyed a sandwhich and a beer and salads, but the food did not knock my sox off; it was just adequate and convenient. Dairy Queen is very close by bike!

Great visit, 2012-11-29
Captain: , Edgewater, MD (97)

Scott (Dockmaster) met us at the dock, after closing on Thanksgiving, secured us to his last tieup on facedock; invited us to an exceptional Thanksgiving dinner and bonfire with nice, friendly atmosphere and many other boaters. Private, clean showers, courtesy car, bikes; much to do on Jekyll Island. Will be back!

Convenient fuel stop, price competitive, 2012-11-27
Captain: , Where ever the hook is (573)

We were planning on going up to Ocean Petroleum in Brunswick on our Southbound trip but then learned TAX is not included in their online price, so with tax, we would've saved 1 penny per gallon going to Ocean Petro. We opted for Jekyll instead and it is right on the ICW, easy dock, great help and, actually saved money by not burning several extra gallons running up to Ocean Petro.

Thanksgiving 2012, 2012-11-23

Very friendly staff and helpful. Went out of their way to please. Invited all transients to a Thanksgiving Pot Luck and they suppled the turkey and ham. We will return in the spring!

Great marina, easy in and out., 2012-11-21
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (280)

Had a very nice overnight visit at this marina (11/20-11/21/12). Borrowed the marina's courtesy van and reprovisioned at the local grocery store. In the morning, borrowed their bicycles and had a fantastic ride around the historic district and out to the beach. Wish we had more time, would have enjoyed their hot tub. Bathrooms and showers were clean and the water was hot.

Small but convenient, 2012-10-27
Captain: , Amelia Island, FL (507)

jekyll Harbor marina is right on the ICW. The transient dock is an easy in and out. The staff are friendly; the facilities clean. The marina is a long walk to the Jekyll Island Club and historic area but doable. The trolley tour around the historic area includes stops at a couple of the "cottages". Jekyll Creek has some shallow spots as does the Cumberland River so plan on a mid to high tide transit southbound.

Great marina in a great place!, 2012-10-25
Captain: , Mystic, CT (270)

We are currently staying here for a week while transiting the ICW south - October 2012. They have a weekly special here that makes this a cost effective stop right on the ICW. Friendly and helpful staff, fuel, pool, hot tub, laundry, nice showers, loaner car, and loaner bikes make this a superb marina for cruisers. Not to mention that Jekyll Island is a beautiful, scenic place with beautiful beaches and miles of bike paths!

Very convenient and friendly, 2012-08-09
Captain: , Va Beach, VA (151)

Nice floating docks right on the waterway.
Very shallow water near low tide, especially at green 19.
The locals suggested that we eat elsewhere, so we did.
Power and water pressure were good, but cable TV was out.
Diesel was very expensive! 67 cents a gallon more than we paid 3 days go in VA.
Very convenient - at a price.

Very user friendly marina and island, 2012-06-17
Captain: , Cleveland (2083)

Update 6/4/12: we stopped again going north. It's a great place to wait for higher tide on Jekyll Creek. We came through it at low tide last year and don't want to repeat that trip! And we draw only 3'8". Same friendly service - great help with docking as we came in with both wind and current.

Original Post Spring 2011: The docks were very nice and the staff especially helpful and friendly. The courtesy car was appreciated and the island is extremely bike firendly with many bike paths all over the island. There is an IGA, somewhat expensive, which has most of what you might want but not as much variety as a full sized store. We stayed only one night but we will come back to Jekyll Island.

Nice folks and location. Easy docking, 2012-05-21
Captain: , North Myrtle Beach, SC (3210)

Even though it faces the ICW, wakes are not bad. Folks herer are great, and the courtesy car is a huge plus. Pool, etc also. Short bike ride to beach. Spend a few days here if you can. Price is a little high, but they do have to pay for car, pool, hot tub... which costs. We are repeat visitors.

April 12-13, 2012
Easy in and out right off the ICW, good dock hands. A great stop to visit and tour Jekyll Island State Park. Had a great lunch so reasonably price at the Jekyll Island Culb. Took a trolley tour the was very informative about the history and well to do families that spent summers here. We used the free bikes to get around.
The Jekyll Creek or Mud River needs to be navigated at high tide and watch the marks closely leaving the dock.

Good Convenient Stop, 2012-04-20
Captain: , punta gorda, fl (1448)

Very convenient stop on ICW along floating face dock. Strong currents. Good staff. Good place to tour Jekyll Island. Restaurant "low country boil" is good. Diesel fuel was a bit on the high side but you pay for convenience.

Nice marina, friendly people, convenient for biking to historic district, 2012-04-15
Captain: , Cape Coral, FL (1541)

We pulled in after a quick decision not to anchor out, deciding to get a dock for the night so we could bike over to the historic district. Great choice! Very friendly dockmaster, nice docks. Had dinner at the restaurant, SeaJays, and the crab chowder was so good that we went back for lunch the next day. Convenient for biking to Jekyll Island historic district. Also, two good washer/dryers operated by tokens. Great stop, glad we did it.

Wonderful people, lots of history nearby, 2012-04-02
Captain: , Westbrook, CT (453)

The people were great, all chose to be in Jekyll because they love it, and it showed. Bicycles were available for use, as was a courtesy van to go to the local IGA (stocked and priced island style). Showers were terrific. Only downside is the channel north of the marina (about 1 mile) which has shoaled considerably. One needs to watch the depthsounder carefully towards low tide.

Makes you want to stay, 2012-03-29
Captain: , Cromartie Beach, Albany.Ga. (115)

There is so much offered here that you want to stay. We took advantage of the free bike rentals to ride around the island. There's a swimming pool, grilling area and a nice little ship's store. Also important are the hot shower's and laundry. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
Negatives? Sand Gnats can be ferocious if your not prepared. Also, the south end of the outer facing dock can get lumpy on southerly or eastery winds.

good safe stop, 2012-02-15
Captain: , Galesville, MD (481)

We enjoyed exploring the island by bike. Had a family obligation and had to leave the boat. Staff was helpful, especially Megan, and had no problem renting a car. Very friendly boating community.

One of the friendliest marinas we stayed at. Staff is courteous, competent and helpful, recruiting resouces as needed. A beautiful natural setting with a very good restaurant.

Try the Brunswick Stew at SeaJays, 2011-11-30
Captain: , Algonac, MI (1926)

We ate the stew at the marina restaurant. It was very good. It was a highlight of our trip to tour the historic area by bicycle. Ask for directions to the nature trail that leads directly to the historica area. We also enjoyed a loop ride along the beach.

Nice Marina, 2011-11-29
Captain: , Marathon (275)

Docking wasn't an issue with the parallel current. Competent and helpful dockhands got us in easily. We were worried about being so far from the historic area but it wasn't an issue with the loaner bicycles. Clean heads and showers and a friendly more than adequate restaurant on the premises.

Goo docks and good staff, 2011-11-22
Captain: , Stuart FL (835)

5 Nov 2011

Decided to dock vs. anchor at Jeykll today since wind was 25-30 knots. The marina saved us a spot but with our 42 foot boat trying to get in a less than 60' space was a bit worrisome in 25+knot winds. Fortunately the wind was blowing towards the dock and the staff was very good at knowing what to do with lines to help. Price is normal for this area. Bikes and a courtest car (only for the island) are available. A good stop

Jekyll Harbor Marina - stellar hospitality, 2011-11-06
Captain: , Harrison Twp, MI (350)

Really a great place if you can resereve a tie-up. Friendly staff and wonderful ambience. Good stop to just rest up. Unfortunately, groceries are slim and expensive at island store. Good restaurant, clean facilities, beautiful island to explore. Something for everyone here.

A wonderful stopover on an ICW voyage. The island is great for exploring. Staff very helpfull. Can't wait to revisit.

Improved but lacking, 2011-08-15
Captain: , Savannah GA (131)

Can't say enough nice things about the helpful staff: pleasant, cooperative, friendlly. This new managment is working to upgrade, but dock facilities have a way to go. Dock water pressure was low, and electrical service was low both amps and volts (it was very hot, demand was high); forced to run generator for several days as shore power was not adequate.

Debated about posting anything negative,, 2011-07-16
Captain: , Marathon, FL, USA (70)

because these folks really tried to accomodate us. We had stopped for repairs, repairs at the waterline so we needed things fairly flat , something that the location simply couldn't offer. The good people there tried fitting us inside the dock to avoid all the wakes from the 10% of the passing traffic that just couldn't slow down and anytime the wind came anywhere except the east, but to no avail. So, if you don't mind being tossed a bit this is a wonderful place...

Nice Floating Docks, 2011-05-24
Captain: , Aquia Harbour, VA (1177)

Docks in good shape and helpful staff. Casual restaurant on site. Enjoyed the historic district.

Good amenities - we decided to stay a 2nd night, 2011-04-22
Captain: , Lansdale, PA (330)

We used the courtesy bikes to tour the island on their great bike trails to the beach and historic area. There is a restaurant/bar with live music at the marina. We received laundry tokens for free washer/dryer and the staff gave a nice welcome packet at check in. The pool/hot tub looked great, but we didn't have time to use them. Long face dock made fueling and docking easy.

Always a great place to stay, for a night or the winter, 2011-04-11
Captain: , Green Cove Springs FL (44)

This is a special place. While the island is currently in an unusual state of massive re-construction/rehabilitation, it still has plenty of charm: no traffic signals, miles of gorgeous bike paths and miles of uncrowded wide beaches. Marina grounds are well maintained and beautiful, and the staff is eager to please. Music lovers should plan their stopovers for Thursday, Friday or Saturday nights when SeaJay's has live music. Stunning sunsets. So many things to do on the island that one night here just won't do it justice.

Loved the pool and restaurant., 2011-04-05
Captain: , Indian Harbour Beach, FL (105)

Had to spend 2-3 days here waiting for a water pump repair and loved the marina and island. Used their loaner van for shopping. Would stop again, definitely.

One of our best stops - ever!, 2011-03-10
Captain: , Fort Collins, CO (492)

We loved this marina! The dock masters could not be more helful. They were out of biking maps (free loaner bikes to ride the many trails on the island) they had a case of maps the next day. The hot tub was not hot, it was by the time we returned from biking, and was wonderful. showers are the best! Dont miss this marina and Island

Great place, 2011-01-03
Captain: , Epilogue (326)

The Jekyll Harbor Resort Marina has seen better days, but we really enjoyed our stop here because of the people and definitely would not only recommend it but certainly would come back. Randy and Diana are wonderful. Other boaters - many who are here part-time -- are great, especially Lynn and Paul. We were here over Christmas (and stayed two more days because of weather). The marina has a loaner van (thank you!) and bicycles. We had a fabulous Christmas night dinner at the Crane and the grounds are a must-see to learn more about the rich history of the island. The restaurant is a fun place to have a drink with other boaters -- great atmosphere. The food, though, was bad and overpriced; not recommended. Drinks, definitely.

Great stop, 2010-11-22
Captain: , Houston, Texas (164)

This is a great place to stop. You can either bring yor big boat or your dink. The dink fee is $20 per day. This provides you with bikes for the day, use of the swimming pool, and showers. You can ride all over the island on the bikes, to the beach, the wonderful historical sites, and there are many great restaurants, too. Enjoy! We rode in our dink from St. Simons Island, GA anchorage to Jekyll Harbor and it took about 1 hour.

Jekyll Harbor, 2010-11-12
Captain: , Mattituck, NY. (391)

One of our favorite stops. This Island is worth seeing. You can borrow bikes and visit the Historic District, ride along the beach or shop, small grocery store. Great bike trails.
They also have a loaner car. Roads and shops along the ocean are being renovated so there are some detours. All shops are in portable buildings for the next few years and moved further away but can still bike to them.
They have a restaurant and pool. People are very friendly and helpful.

Great stop, 2010-10-31
Captain: , Point Marina, Whortonsville, NC (506)

Stopped here on 10/31/2010 and anchored just south of the marina near the public boat ramp. Took the dinghy to the marina and they said that we could use all of their facilities for $10/head. $20 for two of us was a lot better than paying up to $72.00 a night as we had been for a marina stop and the $10 included a bicycle!
The resturant was good for lunch but we had dinner on the boat so cannot say how good the food is there for dinner.

Worth the stop, 2010-10-19
Captain: , Amelia Island, FL (10)

Jekyll Harbor Resort Marina is a great little place to lay over and watch the sunset. Others have reported on facilities - no complaints. Staff is excellent - helpful and informative.

If planning an extended stay, you will need transportation. Courtesy car is for on island only. Limited supplies/groceries locally.

We'll stop again.

Excellent Marina with Lots to Offer, 2010-10-01
Captain: , Marietta GA (416)

We're here for a month and absolutely love the island and the marina. The new marina manager (Jessie) is putting things in tip-top condition (like replacing weathered boards on the walkway to the concrete docks) and making sure the pool and showers are scrubbed till they shine.

Plus they have started a free Boater Rewards program aimed at transients. Just tell them you want to join (they'll ask for an email address or at least your boat's name but no membership card or the like) and you get 50% off pumpout, two loads of laundry free, and 25% off a month's dockage during peak season. Can't beat that.

They've improved the free WiFi and now there's a strong signal all along the dock so we logon below without having to sit in the cockpit and squint.

Jekyll Creek (just north of the marina) has some narrow spots with shallow water outside the channel. Tugs with barges run the channel regularly and don't seem to have any trouble. With an 8' tide it's easy find lots of water at half-tide rising. Current runs parallel to the transient and fuel docks, which takes most of the sport out of docking (compared to other marinas in the area).

Jekyll has always been our favorite stop because of the staff, the island, and the free bikes. Now it's even better.

Very Nice Accomodating Folks, 2010-06-14
Captain: , St. Simons Ilsland, GA (547)

The marina is your gateway to Jekyll Island. The Historical District is about a mile walk/bike ride away and is a must see. SeaJays Restaurant at the marina is convenient and good but don't expect a gourmet meal. The pool area is very attractive and well maintained, as is the entire facility. The beach is less than a mile away and is excellent. The shopping area service/convenience station and other facilities onthe island will soon undergo a complete rebuild. It's long overdue, but the construction is certaily going to disrupt the quiet life on this state owned island. The construction will not affect the marina. I highly recommend a stopover here. The marina is on the ICW so it's easily accessible. It's not where you want to be if there's a hurricane or severe storm, but it is on the back side of Jekyll Island so there's some protection. Watch Jekyll Creek/ICW to the north of the marina. It can be very shallow at low tide. The channel south to Jekyll Sound has plenty of depth even at low tide.

Fantasy Island, 2010-02-24
Captain: , Wilmington Deleware (330)

This is our second time at this marina. We were here for 4 months in 2008 and stayed on the face dock. This year we will be here for a month as we head south and have an inside slip. The slip has reduced the rocking but we miss more of the sun sets. We love this marina, the staff is so fantastically layed back but very helpful. We are a few minute walk to the beach and shops and just as close to the resort. The Rah-bar is a must stop, best shrimp ever and their specialty drinks will sure put one in an island mood. Don't miss the Sunday brunch at the club. Jekyll feels like home for cruisers.

We stopped for a pump out & some fuel; ended up deciding to leave the bot here for the rest of the month while we went back to PA to handle some pop up work requirements. Teri(sp) the dock person is without a doubt the best dock hand we have seen; period! SeaJays food leaves a bit to be desired. Everything else here is great. We'll be back

Perfect Spot, 2008-08-20

We agree with the other reviews. This marina is secure and very service oriented. We had everything we needed. But the best feature is the wonderful swimming pool located under the live oak trees which keeps the water cool. It is VERY refreshing after a long trip in a hot sail boat!

We loved the Sunday brunch at the Jekyll Island Club. Yummy!

For a small (38 slips) marina, they take very good care of you. Manager is also an excellent mechanic. Dominey, one of the finest prop repair shops in the country is only 15 minutes away.
Free courtesy car to use on the island. Bikes also available.
Only 1 mile up the road to some beautiful beaches on the Atlantic side. Seajay's, the restaurant at the marina, has great local seafood and live entertainment Thurs-Sun (check for changes)

Jekyll Harbor caters to the transient crowd and is the place to stay if you want a modern marina. Currents are 2+ knots. Docking is alongside. Decent restaurant is at head of dock. Walk about a mile to historic area. Great biking area. Free wifi even if you just pass by
