There is a marked reef about a half mile off shore. The south end of the reef can be passed by with boats drawing less than 4'. Deep draft boats should go around the north end of the reef. The reef can be as shallow as 4' at mean low water. This will depend on lake levels.
After passing the reef, head in to the cut marked by the Jefferson Beach sign. There are two large tour boats on the north side of the cut near theentrance. The Jefferson Beach fuel dock is about a quarter mile inside the cut on your right.

Reviews for Jefferson Beach Marina
Nice staff, just dont expect a call back, 2015-08-04
Captain: , Meinke Marina (20)

We wanted to stay in a transiant slip for a month, nice place. The lady we called never called back. When we went there to buy a boat, again asked about trans slip in person, she said she would call back. Never did. So we went next door to Miller Marina.

Loud, obnoxious won't stay here again, 2015-07-04

I get it that it is a holiday weekend but that is no excuse for the foul language being screamed from the boats, drunks fighting and trying to throw each other off boats. Okay so that was just the boat in the next slip - bad luck. Okay there was also the bar at the next marina with the outdoor band, the boats going up and down with their radios blasting and the bar at the Tin Fish with the music blaring. And yes this is all going on while I sit in my boat trying to sleep at 11:45 at night. So much for quiet hours of 11 p.m. til 8 a.m.

It all depends, 2014-03-19

If your looking for a wild, fun time, this is the place to be. You can't beat the price either. If you want to relax and not socialize; you will find this place ugly and annoying. A lot of day boaters and not many really commited sailors but I will stop here when ever I am traveling through.

Bustling party spot, 2011-08-20

Huge place. Don't think I've ever walked so far for everything at a marina.

Docks had pleny of length for my 30' LOA boat, so bow in is extremely possible while still a good way to board over gunnels. Thus you're left with stern in, which the posts aren't set up for very well.

Power and water post on end of finger pier not my choice, but whatever I guess. Good solid dock, only cleats on land end, so better practice up on or post hitch tie.

Bath house at lake end is too small for such a huge marina, but it is new, clean and nice. The shower/bathroom portapotti trailer is an absolute disgrace and enought that I probably won't come here permanently, or at least on this end of the marina. HORRIBLE smelling little shacks. My wife walked off disgusted. For all the money they must bring in, they should be able to build a real shower house that;s not on wheels. heck, give a free slip to a handy man and he'll build you one for materials alone and maybe not even that. Ridiculous!!!

Park and gazebo are nice, but you could walk a full mile from the inner harbor back to land and back out to the park BRING a BIKE.

Pool is another 1/2 mile out to road at least. I know that ain't far to walk, and it's not; unless it's 95F and 90%RH and you nearly pass out under the sun on the way. Then you'll wish it were closer.

Very loud restaurant/clubs on each end of marina, so if you wan't quiet, better let them know.

Good store, good attendants came to help.

Jeffersen Beach Marina, 2011-08-11
Captain: , Lake in The Hills, Illinois (542)

We left our sailboat here for two weeks while we returned home. The marina staff worked with us on a discount price. The marina is very large and the walk to the restroom and showers can be very long. Many slip holders park their cars at their boats and use these to get around the marina. A long walk from the larger docks out of the marina.

Big marina, gas dock with small store, 2011-07-03
Captain: , Oak Park, Michigan (123)

This is a local marina. It has transient slips. There is a nice restaurant and access to St Clare Shores. Nice people.

OK stop, but nothing special, 2010-07-28
Captain: , Newport, RI (10275)

The docks are narrow, fixed, high wood/steel with pilings between slips. Pumpout was $10. There's a shuttle that only runs on weekends, but the staff gave us a ride to West Marine. It's a potentially a long from your slip to the road (2/3 mile) and then to wherever you're going.

full service, 2009-07-12
Captain: , Michigan (519)

JBM is the largest marina in the area. There are several travel lifts. Sailboats can be hoisted as well as very large power boats. A sail rigger is on the premises. Check with the marina website for better info on lift capacity.

The Beach grill is on site and there are several others nearby.
The marina is under new management and is geting a thorough renovation.
The gas dock tanks are all new for 2009.

Security is very good, although not an issue to begin with.
A shuttle bus is available to wide variety of shops, restaruants & bars on nautical mile.
Wi-Fi is reported to be upgraded this spring (2009) and will be free with dockage.

This is the best marina in the area for transients.
