Reviews for Jacobson Marina Resort, Inc.
Great Location, 2016-09-14
Captain: , Milwaukee, WI (358)

Stayed here two nights late August 2016, as well as several times in past years. Though expensive, the staff is somewhat helpful, bathrooms are nice (except for the doors), docks and landscaping nice, and hot tub and pool small but nice. Location is very, very good… several good restaurants (like The Fusion) very close, a good brewery a short walk, and the beach is less than a 10 minute walk. We will return again.

Great place, 2016-07-26
Captain: , Milwaukee, WI (10)

We stayed 4 nights in July 2016. Location is excellent, nearly on Main St. Dockhands and owners all helped make our stay really nice. The picnic tables next to the docks on the north side were convenient for socializing. We had crab legs/steaks cooked for us by the marina galley and delivered to us there on two nights. Excellent meals.

Greal location in nice town, 2015-09-06
Captain: , Wilmington, DE (780)

Crusher's review nailed it. I've little to add. Very nice amenities at the marina and a great local environment. Really enjoyed Frankfort and even saw a first run movie in their historic deco movie house!Would love to come back sometime.

Jacobson's is the place to stay, 2015-08-22
Captain: , Ft Myers, Florida (1663)

Friendly helpful staff, 85 degree pool, hot tub, very clean restrooms and showers. Some Really neat slips with grills and tables right next to dock. Town is interesting, good bike and walking trail and town roads, movie theatre in town showing first run movie. Ice cream, shopping etc.many good restaurants including unique dining service at the Marina.
We rented a car at Marina and did a winery tour on a windy day, lots of fun. Were here 3 nights due to bad weather, very enjoyable.

Awesome Facility, 2015-08-06
Captain: , Orange TX (130)

Pulled in on a Saturday in dire need of a dentist. The harbormaster contacted his brother who is an ortodontist and after some phone calls we were directed to a dentist that could open up his office that afternoon. A fellow boater down the dock heard of our situation and insisted that he provide transpotation to and from the dentist. This kind of help is a testament to the staffs desire to make your stay a pleasent experience. The marina offers a ships store and a nightly menu to some very good meals. Very clean facility with pool and hot tub. HIGHLY recommended.

Perfect place to stop, 2015-07-07
Captain: , St Louis (240)

I stopped to fuel, diesel, and get the holding tank pumped out, but found out that they also have small store at the fuel dock. A welcome suprise. There is a large screen TV, board games, and pool table above the store/office. Showers are very clean.

The town of Frankfort has most everything that you might want, and all within walking distance. Try FrankZ's for fantastic hot dogs, especially with the "mandip."

The service was great and friendly, and the water was deep, I need 7 ft. We spent two nights here in 6/2015, awesome place.

Really enjoyed our stay in Frankfort!, 2015-06-17
Captain: , Bloomington, IN (156)

I would highly recommend this marina to anyone! We liked it so well we decided to stay a second night! Clean facility, friendly and helpful staff. John and Lori obviously take great pride in their marina, and can be seen working hard all day long to keep it nice. Nice pool and hot tub. Those grousing about the fact that the muni marina charges less obviously haven't grasped the concept that you get what you pay for! There is no comparison between these two facilities! Wonderful, amazingly well stocked True Value hardware store 2 blocks away that has almost anything you could ever need. Had an awesome meal at Dinghy's. We will definitely stay again when in the area!

Nice marina close to everything, 2014-08-10
Captain: , Venice, Fl. (919)

We stopped on the recomendation of an acquaintance. It is pricer than the city marina but does have a pool, hot tub and lounge. restaurants are right here. They have loaner bikes for the 7 block trip to the grocery. Friendly owner who lives on the premises. Clean restrooms and laundry.

Disappointing, 2014-07-15
Captain: , Milwaukee (10)

Their fuel dock staff was poorly trained and contributed to some damage to our boat. Facilities are OK but nothing exceptional. We will not return.

Marina not a resort, 2013-08-25
Captain: , Patrick AFB Florida (1254)

Notice the name of the marina - it's Jacobson Marina Resort, not Jacobson Marina and Resort! To call this marina a resort is a stretch - the only thing going for it beyond being a typical marina is a small swimming pool and an in-ground hot tube that would be really crowded with six people. Otherwise, the heads are as clean and nice as any you'll find anywhere and it's centrally located a block from the town's main street. Overpriced compared to the municipal marina a few short blocks further east and the docks are essentially identical in construction.

All the marinas here (at least on the north shore of the harbor) have high docks, probably 5-6 feet off the water, so tieing up can be a challenge. They do have 8X8s attached vertically which can help hold you off the finger pier and with the proper use of fender board or horizontally placed fenders can keep your hand and cap rails from sawing away at the structure.

The cost ($2/foot for our 41 footer) compared to the muni marina ($1.25/foot) isn't justified by adding "Resort" to the name. We ended up here because it had one slip available when we called (during a weekend when a fishing tournament was going on).

It's a nice place, but definitely not a resort. Something to keep in mind when deciding between marinas here in Frankfort.

Not What We Expected, 2013-08-19
Captain: , Portage Indiana (503)

8/2010 We still talk about our stay here but not in the glowing manner everyone else seems to. During our stay we experenced some of the worst customer service but for the sake of space I'll narrow it down to the top 3.

Upon arrival we were asked if we wanted assistance docking and we accepted but when we got to the dock no one was there. Not a big deal but the dock was in the corner next to a current machine and had bikes on the stern which made it a little difficult to dock. When we went to check in we were asked if someone helped us and when we said no the man responded "sorry but we had a big boat come in so they must have been helping over there." So no help for the little boats?....Strike one.

After settling in we walked downtown and had a nice rib dinner at Dinghy's. When we got back to the marina we went to use the shower facilities only to find we needed a code that wasn't given to us when we checked in. My wife and I sat outside the bathroom with our shower supplies for 20 minutes until another patron walked up so we could get the code from her....Strike 2

When we left the marina I told the gentlemen working the counter we were departing and needed to fill up with gas. As we were pulling up to the gas dock the guy standing there waiting for us got a call on his radio, turned around and walked away. What happended did another big boat come in?...Strike 3!!

We pulled away and went to the Municiple next door to fill up. We didn't expect the world here but we did expect to be treated as we would at a Municiple marina and we weren't. The facilities here are great and it's perfectly located steps from downtown, so I can see how this marina could be a 5 star rating. Years have passed and we have stayed at many marina's but have yet to duplicate the disapointment we experienced here.

Kick back and enjoy, 2013-07-12
Captain: , Chicago, IL (160)

Freindly helpful staff. The lounge area was great to watch a little TV and surf the internet, or play a couple of games of pool. Very clean well maintained restrooms and showers. Hot tub to relax after cruising all day. Glen's grocery store about 1/4 mile. Restauarants and bars nearby plus a movie theatre too.

Fantastic Facility, 2013-02-06
Captain: , Lakeside Yacht Club (250)

The folks here know how to run a marina. One of the best on Lake Michigan. Docks in th back face a wooded area wiht picnic tables and grills. Newer pool and hot tub. walk to town. Excellent sushi spot. Marina also has steaks and sefood for sale.

Great facility with great service in a great little town!, 2011-10-28
Captain: , Milwaukee (121)

Most boaters already know about Jacobson Marina but for those who don't, we highly recommend stopping as you head up or down the lake. The new ownership is very service oriented and accomodating.

Top Notch Facility, but with high docks., 2011-08-25
Captain: , Mesa AZ (1609)

On site owners and seasoned staff really take care of patrons and facility. Two bikes available...use bike path to visit Elberta. Town shops a bit dated. Marina will prepare meat & seafood for you. Pool is nice. Good shoe store in town.

Nice marina, nice people, 2011-06-06
Captain: , Cheboygan, MI (10)

Had a chance to stay there a couple weeks back. Close to downtown, close to beach, clean restrooms.

New for 2011, 2011-03-21
Captain: , Frankfort (48)

Jacobson Marina Resort is adding 16' of deli counter space and food prep area for expanded service to large groups and parties. Will definitely be a great addition. A bit more expensive but much more to offer than any other marina on the Great Lakes. Well worth the extra cost.

Jacobsen Marina, 2010-08-19

Friendly staff. Good facilities. But expensive: I paid $68 for 36-foot sailboat.

Very Nice, 2009-08-30

Great dock staff, deli in the office, and we wish we had taken advantage of the dockside delivery of dinner. Nice laundry, and wi-fi in the boater's lounge.

A long Time Home, 2009-03-22
Captain: , Waukegan, IL. (50)

Jodi M has been using Jacobson Marina from the first year it opened. Buzz and Art were the first managers and truly were the heart and soul of the marina. The clean facilities, warm welcome and willingness to greet you whenever you arrive has been their hallmark. The marina has changed hands twice since it's original foujnding, but I understand the current (2009) owner is cut from the same cloth as Buzz and Art. Jodi M will be arriving there in early July and expects to continue a most rewarding relationship. Just as an aside , we have held two of our Grand Banks meetings at Jacobson's.--30--

Topnotch, 2007-11-16
Captain: , Punta Gorda. FL (360)

Excellent facility, generally has transient space. Pleasant barbecue facilities at land side slips. Bath/head facilities excellent. Fixed docks can be a challenge with low water. Close to restaurants, drugstore and ice cream.
