Reviews for Jack London Square Marina
great place to visit!, 2016-10-17

We take our dinghy here frequently to visit all the things Jack London Square has to offer. The other reviewers have given a lot of pertinent info. One other local attraction is the USS Potomac which is berthed here. It was the presidential yacht used by FDR.

Great location, many bars and restaurants, 2015-02-23

We stayed here on a 30' sailboat on Valentine's Day 2015. I called ahead (510-834-4591) before leaving our marina in Richmond to make sure they had availability. The first lady I spoke to seemed mystified my request for transient dockage and told me that she would have to call me back. Two hours later I called back and the gentleman I spoke to was far more helpful and reserved a slip for me and gave me directions within the course of a 60 second phone call. Much better.

Our spot had a single finger on one side and a 40' sailboat on the other side within a stone's throw from Kincaid's. Very calm inside the marina most of the time, the exception being the ocasional wake from a passing ferry.

Check in at the fuel dock office was painless. $25 deposit for a gate key card and $1.50/ft for the boat.

Location is fantastic. Really easy for Oakland friends to come join us for a drink on the boat and steps away from many bars and restaurants.

Bathrooms were the only down side to the marina. Not awful, but you definitely wouldn't want to let a bare foot touch the ground in the showers.

They have a lot of fun little events., 2013-08-06

Jack London Square is a great place to dock if you're interested in exploring Oakland, without having to deal with traffic / parking. There are two guest docks. The one by Scott's Seafood is for regular boats, whereas the one just east of Kincade's (on the California Canoe & Kayak dock) is perfect for dinghies.

There is a free shuttle (it's lime green, you can't miss it) that runs up/down Broadway to Jack London Square, for those who want to check out Oakland proper. Chinatown is also within walking distance. Also, be sure to check out the Jack London Square farmer's market on Sundays, and other events, such as their dancing under the stars, moonlight kayaking, waterfront flicks, etcetera.

There's a lot happening in Jack London Square. There's a dinghy dock with easy access (perhaps too easy? It's Oakland!) and dock space for larger boats in front of Scott's restaurant. There are many restaurants in the area - I'm not sure what the previous reviewer considers early, but most are open well past 9pm, and there are some good bars in the area open later. Yoshi's is a famous Jazz Club very close to the docks.

Theoretically there are time limits on the docks and they are day use only, but I have often seen boats here past sunset. I doubt if there would be any issues until fairly late.

The restaurants in the area are superb and there is a large selection.

Jack London Square offers several events - check the web listings. Often there are bands on weekends.

This is also the site of the Oakland Boat Show - it can be convenient to take your dinghy to the boat show and avoid parking.

Quiet Marina - Facilities close early, 2011-07-29

My experience was that the restaurants in the area close early.
