Reviews for Isle of Hope Marina
Wonderful Marina, 2016-12-06
Captain: , Bono, OH (60)

This is a very clean marina. I was impressed with the people guiding us into the dock. We stayed two nights due to the impending weather forecast. The first night when the thunderstorm you would not even had known it was a nasty night out if you didn't s from hear the thunder and rain. The internet runs from fair to poor on the far finger dock and we had no cable the first night (Monday night football on ESPN), oh well. There are unisex shower/restrooms (2). Great Verizon cell reception. We used the courtesy car. All in all great people, great place and beautiful area.

Management response:
Thank you very much for your review and your kind words about our marina! We are thrilled that you had a positive experience and we will try to improve the tv/internet troubles. We appreciate you taking the time to let us know and hope to see you again as your travels bring you to our beautiful area.

Nice, quiet marina directly on ICW, 2016-08-11
Captain: , Hampton, Virginia (226)

We stayed here for two nights in early May. The staff was very friendly and knowlegeable. The approach is simple and very convenient. Isle of Hope is a sleepy little village, but close to a commercial area several miles away. The marina has a loaner care that we used several times to go to the store. We took an Uber into Savannah twice and had a good experience both times. It took us about 25 minutes to get into downtown and the cost was around $15. The marina is relatively small and the facilities are in good condition. This is a nice marina to stop at if you want a quiet out of the way place to be with great access, but close enough to stores and downtown Savannah if you want more activity.

Management response:
Thanks for the review! We love being in the quiet and relaxing part of busy Savannah and the loaner cars and Uber make it easy for our guests to get into town when needed. We appreciate your kind words about the marina and we hope that you enjoy your travels! Keep us in mind if you return to our beautiful area.

Isle of Hope Marina, 2016-08-08
Captain: , Stuart, Fl (20)

Came north on the ICW from Golden Isles - St Somons to Isle of Hope near Savannah and found shallow spots between markers 209 - 202 Very shallow during hour around low tide. less than 4.5 feet in ICW channel. Once here at Isle of Hope all is well.

Management response:
Thanks for the review! We hope that you enjoyed your stay at the marina and continue to stay with us as your travel plans bring you to our beautiful area.

No More Discounts, 2016-07-22
Captain: , Stuart FL (508)

As of this date, at least, there no longer is a discount for BoatUS members. Still, a good value: friendly, helpful staff, convenient location and courtesy car(s) when you need to run errands. Well worth your consideration.

Management response:
Hi! Thanks for taking a moment to review the marina. We appreciate your feedback and we are glad that you felt that the value was good. While we have never offered boat us discounts, we do have in house discounts that we offer for extended stays at the marina. Currently, a three night stay will reduce your rate for every night. We hope that you will return if your travel plans every bring you back to our beautiful area.

Isle of Hope is where it's at, 2016-06-30
Captain: , Charleston, SC (180)

Stayed here two nights in late June. Marina is in a small bend in the river. This plus the old homes along the waterfront give this marina a feeling of seclusion despite the fact that it's close to the city of Savannah. My wife and I used the loaner car to visit the nearby restaurant, Driftaway, at Kimberly's suggestion. Loved it. Used loaner bikes to visit nearby Wormsloe plantation with its alley of oaks. All in all a great stay.

Management response:
Hey Guys! Thanks for taking the time to write a review and for the five stars! We love the area our marina and really like it when our guests see the beauty that we get to see everyday. Please have a safe trip and we look forward to seeing you guys again soon!

Great Marina, 2016-06-19
Captain: , Newport RI (470)

We had ordered a refrig to be installed at another marina, but they were full and would not release their fuel dock until late in the day, late for the mechanics. Kimberly at Is of Hope save the day! She called a couple of inbound boats and determined that she could get us in early in the day. The new refrigerator is wonderful. We ending up staying two days for weather and to enjoy Savannah. "A" plus all around. The marina is in a beautiful historic district, perfect for walking and running. We hope to stay longer next time. BTW, C.E. Donnelly Yachts did a perfect job refitting the new refrig. Chris Donnelly 912-897-1572

Management response:
Thanks so much for taking a moment to share your thoughts about our marina and staff. We are thrilled that we were able to accommodate you coming in early and we are happy that Chris Donnelly gave you excellent service. We do hope that you are able to make it back and stay with us even longer to enjoy our beautiful area. Thanks again!

A Delighful Stop, 2016-05-19
Captain: , Longboat Key, FL (955)

This is the second time I have stayed here and once agin, was very pleased with this marina. Right on the ICW (in a no wake zone), floating docks, fuel, ships store, loaner car, clean heads. Great staff, firendly and helpful! Only downside is no restaurant on premise but there are a few options within walking distance. Uber or taxi into downtown Savannah is about 20 minutes.

Management response:
Thanks so much for taking a minute to let us and others know about your experience here at our marina. We take pride in what we do and we are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay. Hope to host you again as your travels bring you back to our beautiful corner of the world.

great diesel mechanic available, 2016-05-08
Captain: , Oriental, NC (20)

Elfin at Complete Marine Services is very good. he helped us fix a failing raw water pump on a weekend with great enthusiasm. this guy deserves your business. 912-665-0213

Management response:
Thanks for the review! We AGREE that Elfin is GREAT and we are glad that he was able to assist you with your water pump. We appreciate you getting the word about his great business.

Can't beat the service!, 2016-05-07
Captain: , Michigan City, IN (828)

Date of stay: 4/27 and 4/28/16
Shout out to Kimberly in the front office. We were hoping to arrive on 4/27 and the marina was full. She went out of her way to call all incoming boats to see if there were any cancellations, staying in touch with us the whole time. Bonus points for having courtesy cars. We arrived slack tide and pulled up to face dock. Plenty of water for 4' draft. It's located on a sharp bend in the ICW; most passing boats slowed for the curve which helped cut down on boat wakes. The neighborhood along the marina is worth a walk or bike ride; it's beautiful, lined with magnificent trees. Sandfly BBQ was worth a visit, too. We Uber'd to Savannah for an enjoyable day of sight-seeing. Weak dockside wifi is all that keeps this from being 5 stars.

Management response:
Hi Guys, Thanks for the review! We are glad that we were able to accommodate you and we are glad that you enjoyed your stay. We are always striving to improve the wifi connection so we appreciate you letting us know of the situation. Hoping to host you again as your travels bring you back to our area.

Lovely spot, 2016-04-30
Captain: , Essex, CT (1675)

Walk the shore line road and see some of the most spectacular old live oaks anywhere. The walk alone was worth the stop. But add a well run marina, easy drive into Savannah via one of there two loaner cars and a staff that was ready to assist at any moment and you get a wonderful stop along the ICW.

Management response:
We agree that it is BEAUTIFUL here and we are glad that you agree! We just wanted to say thanks for the kind words about the marina and your stop here. Hope that you have a safe trip and that we will host you again as your travels return you to our great area.

Great Marina to stop at it, 2016-04-26
Captain: , Kent Island, Maryland (115)

We have stayed here a couple of times and the staff is always professional, friendly and accommodating. Facilities are clean and the marina has courtesy cars to allow you to visit Savannah if you so desire. This is a must stop if in the Savannah area.

Management response:
Thanks for the kind words! And thanks for returning to visit the marina. We appreciate you taking the time to share with others that you enjoy your stay with us. Have a safe trip and we look forward to seeing you again and again!

The Way Marinas Should Be, 2016-04-18
Captain: , Grand Rivers, KY (110)

Isle of Hope Marina is set on a gem of an island thick with ancient live oaks, draped with Spanish moss and wisteria and full of genteel cottages and summer homes. The marina was used as a film set just before we arrived and it's no wonder they picked Isle of Hope. It's that picturesque.

That might be enough to justify a bunch of stars, but the staff is tops. They're friendly, knowledgable and helpful. They care. And if you doubt that, check out the marina's responses here. How often do you see the courtesy of a thank you for a good rating on Active Captain. But you will here, because Isle of Hope Marina is a class act.

Management response:
Wow! What a great review! We are THRILLED that you enjoyed your stay with us at Isle of Hope Marina and the beautiful area we are blessed to be in. Of course, we also think it is one of the most gorgeous spots on the map and we are so glad that you agree. We also really appreciate your comments of our staff. We do try very hard to maintain an excellent standard of customer service and it is nice to hear when we have succeeded. Have a safe trip and we hope to see you again!

Can't say enough about this marina. Very professional staff. Left a message for a reservation on Thanksgiving Day expecting a call back the next day. One of the staff came in on the holiday to check on things and called us back to confirm. above and beyone the call of duty, 2015-11-29
Captain: , solomons md (190)

Stopped both north and south bound. Not a lot of frills, but everything here is done right. It starts with the top notch dock hands and follows with well maintained docks, baths and laundry. The loaner cars are certainly a plus. This place just has a good feel.

Management response:
Sorry that we did not respond sooner! Thank you very much for each of your reviews about your stay with us. We are glad that you enjoyed your stays with us and hope to see you again and again as your travels bring you back to our beautiful area. We appreciate your kind words.

Awesome Marina With Helpful Staff, 2015-11-24
Captain: , Dewey Beach, Delaware (121)

Pulled in here via Towboat US due to engine issues. A staff of four men were out there to catch our lines and help pull up. They were accommodating by moving other boats to make room for us. Courtesy car four two hours or from 7pm on! Awesome bbq right down the road

Management response:
Hi Alex! Thanks for taking the time to write a review about the marina! We are so glad that you had a pleasant experience here and we hope that your travels from here on out do not involve a tow boat ;) Thanks again for stopping with us and we hope to host you again in the future.

This is an exceptional marina, 2015-11-16
Captain: , Christmas Cove ME (120)

Isle of Hope Marina has been here since 1926 and that is no surprise...when you do business as well as they do, longevity will follow. Charlie made a point of working us in on a busy day. The marina has all amenities, including a loaner car which we used to go to dinner at the superb Saltwater Grill about a mile away. The neighborhood is well worth the time for a walk...twisted oaks, spanish moss, beautiful southern homes and low country cottages.
This will be on our "must stop" list!

Management response:
Thank you so much! We really appreciate your excellent review and we are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay with us. We love our marina and the gorgeous area we are blessed to be in and we are glad that you made time to experience it. Hoping that you will have a safe trip and visit again as your travels bring you to our area. Thanks!

Good...no Great place to stop, 2015-11-02
Captain: , Wickford, RI (937)

Roberto and Maria
Kadey Krogen
Gratitude

I know I'm repeating myself, but they deserve it. We always look forward to returning to Isle of Hope on our way south and back north on the ICW. This is by far one of our favorite stops. Chris is the most accommodating, friendly and respectful dock master I have met. Great wifi, clean showers, loaner car for 2 hours....They know how to cater and accommodate boaters.

Will be back in the Spring.

Roberto and Maria
48' Kadey Krogen, "Gratitude"

As previously posted, this is one of our favorite stops along the ICW. Not going to get into the town and the amount of stores around, which allow a boater to provision for anything needed.
But to me it's more about the people who run the marina. Everyone is so incredibly nice, friendly and accommodating. Charlie the dock master is one of the nicest, most accommodating person I've met. He and his staff go beyond their duty to make sure you, (the customer) is happy and satisfied. Looking forward to returning in the Fall.

10/31/14
Roberto and Maria
Kadey Krogen
"Gratitude"

We stayed here three nights on our way south. Chris, dock master is friendly, helpful and just plain nice. Good WiFi, the bathrooms and showers were recently re-done so they are nice and clean. They have a loaner car you can use for 2 hours.
Within a 5 minute drive there is a small shopping center with a food market, Walmart, Mexican and Japanese restaurant. But drive another 10 minutes and you will find yourself in "Mall Land".
Miles of stores: Whole Foods, Home Depot, Macy's, Best Buy, Kroger, Sears, Home Depot, West Marine... on and on
A favorite spot.

Management response:
What a nice review! Thank you for letting us know your thoughts and we are very appreciative of our return guests! We love that we are a favorite spot and we hope that we will always be for y'all! Charlie sends his thanks for the nice words as well! See y'all in the fall!

Nice Marina with great amenities, 2015-10-31
Captain: , Hull, MA (700)

Marina staff is extremely helpful. Marina is located in a nice residential section. When we called to make a reservation for 3 days the face dock was full but they found space for us on B dock. Floating docks are in good condition. The marina has two very clean private combination shower/restrooms. a small laundry facility(1washer/dryer), small ship store and diesel fuel at $2.79/gal.
They offer 2 courtesy cars that you can reserve for 2 hours periods but if not reserved you can keep car for longer periods. Also available are 2 courtesy bikes, great area to bike and explore. They will also give you a ride to the local bus stop if you want to take a bus into Savannah. The bus costs $1.50 each way versus a taxi one way ride for $30-35. The marina is a very popular stopover so make a reservation and please cancel if your plans change.

Management response:
Thanks for writing a review about your stay! We are glad that it was a pleasant experience for you. It is true that we do book up fast and it is always VERY helpful when boaters let us know of their plans changing as soon as possible. Another popular way to travel around town is Uber and it is quickly becoming the easiest most reliable way to get around. We hope that you will visit us again if your travel plans bring you this way!

Nice Marina and Savannah is just a courtesy car ride away, 2015-10-29
Captain: , Wickford, RI (380)

This is a marina with a personality. Even though they were filled up, they let me stay at the fuel dock. The help is courteous, friendly and helpful. Docking was easy, and they know how to handle boats in the current. We took one of the two courtesy cars into Savannah for shopping and a resturant. Wifi was excellent, one of the strongest we've seen since leaving RI.

We definitely will be back in the Spring.

Management response:
Thanks for writing a review about your stay at our marina! We love to hear how our boaters enjoyed their stay and we are thrilled that you enjoyed yours! Hoping to host you again as your travels bring you back to beautiful Savannah!

Great American history stop over., 2015-10-27
Captain: , Savannah, GA (320)

This is a great marina to visit if you would like a convenient place to explore the Isle of Hope, Wormsloe Plantation, Pin Point museum, Bethedsa and only 7 miles from historic downtown Savannah.
Charlie and his staff are up to date on transiet needs. Great check in brouchue with all you need to know information about the marina and surrounding area. TWO loaner cars are available. You just replace the fuel that you use. Very nice docks, restrooms, etc. They are a pet friendly marina. We stayed 3 nights and the fourth night was free. That helps lower their $2,00 per foot rate. They have ample room on their face dock. Make sure you make a reservation during the busy season. Also cancel a reservation immediately if your schedule changes. They are a popular stop over, so give other boats a chance for your slip. They have limited cable channels, but what the heck, we re-visited the area where we raised our children on the Isle of Hope.

Management response:
We agree that it is a great location! And we thank you for the great review and the advice for boaters. We love hearing from our guest and we truly appreciate that you took the time to review. We hope that you have a safe trip and come back again. Also, we want to correct that our transient rate is currently $1.92/foot per night.

Excelent Stop, 2015-10-26
Captain: , Cape May, NJ (130)

This is a little gem. Very nice place to spend a few days. Dock hands experienced and curteous. The marina office very friendly and helpful. There are 2 loaner cars available with shopping and restaurants nearby. Bicycles also available. The showers are very clean and nicely appointed. We would definitely stop here again. Charning homes and scenery all around

Management response:
Thank your for your kind words! We love that you took the time to let us know that you enjoyed your stay! It was a pleasure to host y'all as well and hope to have the chance to do it again. Have a safe trip!

Great little marina that can pack the boats in!, 2015-10-23
Captain: , Hampton, VA (150)

Stay here last night. Dock hands had us tied to the fuel dock quickly to refuel and then again on the inside for a side tie up. Very friendly folks. We used the free courtesy car to go to Walmart and Kroger for provisions with a map provided by the marina of the area. Locked gates with proximity card access after hours. Decent wifi and phone signals are strong. Definitely recommend this marina.

Management response:
Thanks for letting us know that you enjoyed the marina! As we take great pride in what we do, we love hearing from our boaters and we appreciate that you took the time. Have a safe trip onward and we hope to host you again as your travels bring your back to our area.

Quiet place to stay, 2015-09-28

Quiet location, 2015-07-14
Captain: , Honolulu (531)

Quiet marina in a suburban Savannah location. Great historical neighborhood, the pool is a community pool that grants mariina residents access. Sandfly BBQ is excellent, a few miles away, Driftaway Cafe, in the same area, served one of the best grouper sandwiches I have ever had. Rented a car from Enterprise and toured Savannah, wonderful Southern city, spared from the ravages of the civil war.

Management response:
Thanks for your review! We appreciate you taking the time to let us know about your stay. We are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay and experienced some of our awesome area restaurants. Hope y'all have safe travels and return again if your travels bring you back to the area.

Nice place , but full, 2015-07-08
Captain: , Montgomery Alabama (1102)

We stopped here and planned to stay a week , but they were booked up , so we were only able to stay thru July 4th and leave the next day . The staff made every effort to find us a slip either at their marina or another with no luck . The marina has loaner cars and a Super Wal-Mart mearby . We enjoyed our short stay .

Management response:
Thanks for your review! We appreciate you taking the time to let us know about your stay. We are sorry that you were not able to stay with us longer and we hope that you will be able to next time you are in our area. Safe travels!!!!

Very Courteous, 2015-06-20
Captain: , Austin, Texas (1774)

Isle of Hope has been a mainstay for years, and they have maintained their high level of professional service. The docks are convenient, and the dockhands were very helpful. We used their complimentary loaner vehicle to run some errands, which is always helpful when you are boating. All in all a good stop.

Management response:
We appreciate you taking a moment to tell us and other guests about your experience. We strive to always provide an excellent level of service to our guests and are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay with us. Hopefully, we will be able to host you again as your travels bring you back to our beautiful area.

Well worth a visit., 2015-05-28
Captain: , Ft. Lauderdale (1134)

Have stopped here several times over the years. Friendly people and very accomodating marina staff. Loaner car makes for easy shopping at Pigley Wigley, Walmart or Sams or dinner at one of the several resturants. Short drive into Savanah. Pretty water front for walking. Docks could use some maintenance, lights not working and needs a good coat of paint in places. Good power and water pressure. Easy docking on long face, but watch the current.

5/25/15
Still the same frendly place. Competent and helpful dock hands. Long floating face dock for easy in and out. Watch the current. Good access to downtown Savannah.

Management response:
Thanks for your review and your kind words about our marina and staff! We appreciate your comments and we will strive to always be able to provide the level of standard you enjoy at our marina. Safe travels!

Had a great stay, 2015-05-26
Captain: , Venice, Fl. (919)

Wonderful staff. Used the courtesy car a couple of times. Took the #31 bus to downtown Savannah for the day. Beautiful city. Grocery, Walmart and drug stores close by. Several good restaurants.

Management response:
Thanks for the review! We appreciate our boaters telling how we were helpful and ways that we can improve. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay with us and we hope to be able to host you again!

Spot on marina, 2015-05-26
Captain: , Grand Haven, MI (674)

Plenty of help arriving at the dock. Moved to the inside instead of face dock and received a discount price. It can get pretty tight on the inside. Friendly neighbors in and out of the marina. Walking the dog had a local lady offer a cart for the old dog to visit Savannah. Tried to rent a car but were put on a waiting list, boat owners behind us gave us their car for the weekend they were on their boat. Spent two days in Savannah looking around. Took the "Old Savannah Tour", white tour busses, pet friendly. Many restaurants also pet friendly.
Coffee and newspaper in the mornings, two in-suite showers and bath can be a backup sometimes on a busy weekend. Courtesy cars available made the immediate area accessable with shopping and PO not far.

Management response:
We are so thrilled that you had an enjoyable visit at the marina! We appreciate you taking a moment to tell us about your experience. We love of our neighbors around here and we are excited that each of them took a moment to extend their hospitality to you and your family. Hope to host you and your family again!

Won't Return, 2015-04-25
Captain: , Charleston, SC (30)

We decided to stop here overnight because we needed fuel and we needed wifi. Diesel was 20 cents a gallon higher than the rate posted on AC a few days earlier. When we asked about that, the young man told us that their fuel prices change all the time and that AC usually does a better job of keeping up.

We stopped here last year and found the staff friendly and helpful. The dock staff and office staff we encountered this year were quite different. Customer service was severely lacking. Maybe everyone was just having a bad day and were ready to go home.

The wifi that we needed was non-existent at our slip. The AC reviewers that report a strong signal were probably docked closer to the marina office. The statement "High-speed wireless internet access at every slip." is not accurate. As we walked back to our slip, one of the marina residents told us that the wifi was always awful.

Missing essential services, 2015-04-15
Captain: , Solomons, MD (232)

When we stop at a Marina there are certain services that we consider essential. Foremost are an ability to provision and good WIFI. As nice as this Marina is in many ways, it fails on those essentials. The loaner cars were already committed and there is no provisioning without them since there is nothing within easy walking distance, this also includes restaurants. And their WIFI is pathetic.
We had just learned that our son had become engaged and there was no way to use Skype or FaceTime, nor even receive pictures. And efforts to send emails was near impossible.

Nice Place to Stay, 2015-04-14
Captain: , Fayetteville, Arkansas (671)

The marina is nice, the wifi is good, and the loaner cars are adequate and necesary to get to shoping. We enjoyed a a 4 night stay here taking into consideration the free night. The pump out was 10.00 with fuel, which we find a bit pricey. We would stay again.

Management response:
Thanks for your review! We are glad that you enjoyed your stay with us and would come back! We hope that the four night special allows our boaters to stop and enjoy the relaxing area while not feeling rushed. Looking forward to hosting you again.

Great laid back town, marina, 2015-04-13
Captain: , Atlanta (770)

Really enjoyed our stay here. Quiet marina with very helpful dock hands and not 1, but 2, loaner cars. Driftaway Cafe about a mile away is excellent, as is Sand Fly BBQ. Walmart, CVS nearby. We did a day trip to Savannah City docks on River Street for lunch - 2 hours each way.

Great walking around beautiful neighborhoods.

Management response:
Thanks for your review! We always encourage our boaters to take a moment and walk and bike the gorgeous neighborhood we are in. It is refreshing and relaxing and we are blessed to be in such a nice area. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay with us and we hope to be able to host you again!

Good facilities and easy to see Savannah, 2015-03-31
Captain: , Moyock, NC (984)

This marina has a good floating dock, easy tie-up even with a swift running tide change, clean facilities, and readily available courtsey car. They were good with making a courtsey car available for longer than 2 hrs when needed/available and when the marina office is closed.

Management response:
Thank you for your review! We appreciate your kind words about our marina. We will always try to accommodate our boaters when we are able and we are glad you were able to use the courtesy car to meet your needs. We look forward to hosting you again as your travels bring you back to our area.

Pretty town , 2015-03-22
Captain: , Cape Cod, MA (179)

Stopped here because of weather concerns after a short hop from Delegal Creek Marina. Loaner car really necessary to get to restaurants. Only one washer/dryer and expensive at $2 each. Pump out also expensive at $10 and the hose has no elbow at the nozzle so stuff flows back in and it wasn't obvious that the tank was completely emptied. Good Wi-Fi so they must have upgraded. Take a walk along Bluff Drive and enjoy the architecture.

Management response:
Thank you for your review! We wanted to let you know that our pump out nozzles are equipped with a split check valve which minimizes any drainage back into the boat's tank. We are glad that you enjoyed the beauty of Isle of Hope.

Great Facility, 2015-03-16
Captain: , Daytona (410)

2-16-15: Our 2nd time staying here. Marina is clean and the staff extremely helpful & professional. The surrounding area is so quaint and just beautiful - a real step back in time that is such a treat. We will definitely visit again!

2-20-12:
We commssioned our new 43' North Pacific here. Facility was great, clean and the staff very professional. The location is ~ 4 miles from a West Marine, and it gave us a couple hour head start on our trip back to Daytona.

Management response:
Thank you for your review! We are thrilled that you returned to stay with us and that you enjoyed your visit a second time. We look forward to seeing y'all again as your travels bring you back to our part of the world.

Great find!, 2015-02-15
Captain: , CHARLESTON (330)

We have cruisied this area numerous times but had not had the need to stop in this area. We had made reservations on line and did not realize they were closed (check operating hours) but the manager tried to reach us and when we called the number, he came in shortly after we had docked. Loved the marina and the surrounding village. A step back in time - great restaurant close by - Drift Away Cafe - a real surprise. Left our boat here for a few days. Very helpful staff at marina and we will definitely stay again! Only suggestion - need to upgrade washer/dryer.

Management response:
What a nice review! Thank you for taking a moment to share your experience. We do try to take a day to rest in the winter season but we are always available to any boater that needs a place to stay. We love our neighborhood and Drift Away is always a treat. We hope that should your travel plans bring you back to our area, we will be able to host you.

NICE PLACE, 2015-02-09
Captain: , Savannah GA (10)

The Dockmaster Chris and the staff are friendly and very helpful. My only ciritcism would be the extremely poor WIFI and poor cable. You should not even advertise that you have it. Unless you are the one lucky location you can not even download a book on your kindle or check emails. I spoke to our neighboring vessels and they had the same complaint. The cable consisits of approximately 10 channels. However the marina is nice, clean and friendly and in a no wake zone. Overall great place.

Management response:
Thank you for your thoughts and your kind words about the marina. We are in the process of getting our cable channels working. As well, we are looking into options for boosting the signal on your dock.

Great service when it counted, 2015-02-08
Captain: , Evergreen , Colorado (181)

Originally came to the area a few days before Christmas looking for a marina . Due to the holidays surrounding marinas were eather full or available . The owner called me right back and was able fit me in . The crew there were fantasic in helping me out . Thank you so very much !

Management response:
Awesome! We are glad that we were able to accommodate you! You are very welcome and we hope to be able to host you again!

Like the others said, 2014-12-22
Captain: , Bristol, RI (766)

Great place. Nice people and they couldn't have been more helpful. Left the boat here for two months with no concerns. The loaner cars make it easy to enjoy Savannah's astonishingly good restaurants.

Updated 12/2014

Another several week visit. Isle of Hope is on my list of "10 best marinas on the East Coast"

Management response:
WOW! We are so happy that our marina made your top 10! We strive to maintain an atmosphere where boaters feel comfortable leaving their boats. We hope to have you stay with us as your travels return you to our area.

great place to tuck in, 2014-11-01
Captain: , Bristol, RI (240)

Isle of Hope Marina was a great find. The staff is helpful and professional. We had current when we were entering and needed fuel. They did a great job bringing us in, fueling, and securing us in a slip.
The office staff answered every question and provided us with many things to do during our stay. The information packet they provided was perfect for all things local. The bikes and courtesy car were readily accessible and fantastic to have. The area around the marina is friendly to visitors. It was Halloween. We saw the community having a great time together. We hope to return in the spring.

Easy In/Out, 2014-10-23
Captain: , Leonardtown, MD (10)

Nice people. Two loaner cars. Great Resturant Pearls Saltwater Grill. 5 minutes away(by car). Grocery store 3 minutes away

Great place to stop, 2014-09-02
Captain: , Newport (131)

Just a little past busy Thunderbolt and easy in and out. Nice facility and beautiful village, great for an early morning or evening walk under huge old trees overlooking the water.
Courtesy car to Bi-Lo and other stores nearby. Wall Street Journal and coffee in the morning.

Management response:
Thank you for your review! We are pleased that you enjoyed our beautiful area and the gorgeous oak trees that line Bluff Drive. Hopefully the courtesy car, complimentary coffee and paper made your stay more enjoyable. Looking forward to having you visit again.

Quiet marina near Savannah, 2014-08-24
Captain: , Pensacola, FL (532)

Arrived for a month 4/17/2014. If you're not interested in the busy Savannah marinas then IOH is THE place for you. Although long t piers are parallel with the river, boat wakes were minimal as long as you're tied on the inside. Draw back is this requires parallel parking in very narrow fairways. We did not plan on using the boat while in the area, otherwise it would have been impossible to come and go at your leisure without dockhands climbing on and off other boats fending off thru the narrow passage. Travel to/from Savannah on short day trips with two available courteous cars, we also took advantage of Enterprise $10/day weekend rentals, Friday thru Monday mornings. Nestled near IOH community neighborhood, with beautiful homes, huge live oaks draped with Spanish moss, churches and most shopping needs within long walk, short bike ride or the use of one of their vehicles, this marina was ideal for us. Area things to do are visiting the Eighth Air Force Museum, Sand Gnats baseball (single A farm league), Tybee Island by car, as was Hilton Head, along with walking downtown historic Savannah.

Management response:
Thank you for your review! We also love our quiet spot away from the hustle of the city and it is why our boaters return year after year. We are thrilled that your extended time here allowed you to explore some of the many attractions Savannah has to offer. We are looking forward to having you stay with us next time your travels bring you to the area.

Great marina amoung plantation style waterfront homes, 2014-08-13
Captain: , St. Petersburg, FL (210)

This is my favorite place to stay in the Savannah area. The loaner car will get you to the Savannah waterfront district so no need to tie up there.

Friendly helpful staff and free Wall Street Journal. Get out and walk the area, you won't be disappointed.

The staff will take you to a Wal Mart or use the loaner car and go to West Marine.

Management response:
What a nice thing to say! We thank you for your review! We are glad that you enjoyed your visits here and we will always strive to keep Isle of Hope Marina your favorite place to stay! Looking forward to seeing y'all next time.

Quiet marina just a quick run from the busier marinas, 2014-07-23
Captain: , St Thomas, USVI (10)

I just arrived a few weeks ago after long sail from BVI and I must say that this marina was easy to arrange things with even as my arrival changed a few days due to weather and though they have a small staff, they are always available. All the other reviews about amenities and surrounding amenities are spot on.

Management response:
Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review! We are thrilled that you were accommodated efficiently despite the weather not cooperating. We are looking forward to making your stay with us enjoyable.

Full complement of amenities, 2014-06-24
Captain: , Park City, UT (20)

Arrived from offshore via Wilmington & Skidaway Rivers--easy, well-marked, plenty of depth for our 6.5 foot draft. Tied up on face dock for 7 nights, last 2 nights free. Dock staff readily available & helpful. Current can be swift but approach/departure paths are wide and deep enough. Most passing boats on the ICW politely slow down but there is the occasional moron creating large swells. Quiet and beautiful setting, especially after and before working hours.

Electronic access via coded card makes the property truly secure, including the 2 showers and one washer/dryer. Nice concrete floating docks in good condition; water; 30/50A power; cable TV; wifi internet (good signal but sometimes drops); loaner cars (2); loaner bikes; pet-friendly. Good restaurants & shopping an easy bike-ride away; there is no bike path along the highway but traffic is relatively light and polite. Great walking village w/ quiet streets, nice views of the Skidaway ecosystem A tour of the nearby (walking-distance) Wormsloe Plantation is an absolute must.

Kimberly runs the office and is very proficient and efficient and freindly, as are Chris and Cory. Many marinas provide some of these elements but none we've been to have combined so many of them at one place.

Management response:
Thank you so much for giving us such a positive review. We are thrilled that our accommodations, staff, amenities and location made your stay so enjoyable. We love hearing from our guests and knowing that their stay was a success. We appreciate the time you took to write a detailed review and we strive to have each guest that comes to the marina experience the same. Looking forward to seeing y'all again as your travels bring you back to our area.

Isle of Hope, 2014-06-10
Captain: , Wickford, RI (1637)

Great place, efficient help, loaner car. What else do you need.
Try to get to the Sandfly BBQ if you can. It has some of the best ribs I have ever eaten.

Management response:
Thanks for your review! We LOVE the ribs at Sandfly BBQ and pretty much everything else there too :) Hoping to meet you again as your travels bring you back to the area.

Good spot on ICW, 2014-06-01
Captain: , Punta Gorda, Fl (880)

Good location on ICW and short taxi ride to Savannah. Courtesy car to grocery. Small laundry and bath/showers.

Management response:
Thanks so much for your review! We hope that you enjoyed your stay and remember us if your travels bring you back to the area!

Feels like home, 2014-05-19
Captain: , Savannah (20)

Always happy to visit IOH Marina! Clean, heated and cooled bathrooms, great staff, beautiful surroundings in a historic neighborhood. Security gate and access to the neighborhood pool. Concrete docks are well maintained and they have two courtesy cars! Great for a dash to the grocery store and good restaurants. Driftaway is our favorite!

Pretty Community, 2014-05-10
Captain: , North Myrtle Beach, SC (115)

Great stop, helpful staff and a loaner car. Office staff offered a nice information packet and dock staff was very helpful with docking. Wind was blowing 20+, but with their help it was easy.

Good marina well worth stopping, 2014-05-03
Captain: , Palm Beach Gardens, FL (1897)

A good place to pull in with very attentive staff.
The loaner car program was well laid out and with several couples we had the van for 6 hours so that we could really explore Savannah.
Friendly staff but we did not use restrooms or laundry.
Easy ingress and egress if on the face dock.

Outstanding, 2014-04-19
Captain: , Tarpon Springs (983)

Outstanding in every way.

Good Stop here, 2014-04-15
Captain: , Herrington Harbour, MD (680)

April 14th 2014
Spent three days here and enjoyed the loaner car to stock up on food.
Good laundry, but small, a washer and one dryer.
Will stop again.

Great Place & Base Camp for Savannah, 2014-04-09
Captain: , Everett, Washington (824)

We stayed 10 days and only intended to stay a couple with a plan to move on. With a 29' tug, they had room to move us on the inside where the wind and current was less than the face dock. The rates were great and the weekly rate was better. We loved the village of Isle of Hope with the best walking neighborhood. Biked to Wormsloe State Historical Area, used the loaner car repeatedly for exploring and provisioning. Sandfly BBQ, 1.5 miles away was awesome. Great employees and owners. They would be our base camp again.

Nice Place, Nice People, 2014-03-25
Captain: , Deltaville, VA (602)

Isle of Hope is not the most convenient location to the downtown area but they make up for it with 2 courtesy cars and great hospitality.
Has all amenities except onsite restaurant. Free coffee and newspaper each morning.
Would stop here again.

A Gem of a Place, 2014-01-10
Captain: , St. Thomas, USVI (624)

We loved this marina and will definitely go back for a longer stay. The little town is quiet and adorable and seems remote but is nearby to Savannah proper if you wanted to go into the city. The courtesy car is available for short trips to the town where there are numerous restaurants and a Piggly Wiggly. We liked the Driftaway Cafe. The current can be very strong getting in here as the marina is on what one staff member described as one of the sharpest turns on the ICW. It is often hard to plan arrival and departure time with a favorable tide but the staff here are experienced in getting you in and out with the current so don't worry. As long as you communicate with them they will help you in.

UPDATE December 2013: We stopped here again and ended up staying several weeks over Christmas and New Years with engine trouble. We were assited in finding a first-rate mechanic who we could not be more happy with. His name was Dennis Pierce of DOG, Inc. (deisel or gas, inc.). He got us up and running with skill, a charming personality and worked on the holidays even though we would not have minded if he took off. All staff were great but especially Kim Sutton, who co- manages the marina with her brother - she was amazing. She went above and beyond putting up with our needs during the holidays. The area is wonderful, the scenery beautiful and although we did not plan on staying so long, we were glad we were there. Don't miss Jalapenos Mexican Food!

Great place to layover, 2013-12-12
Captain: , Las Vegas (282)

A bit dated but managed by pros. All of the necessary stuff works as advertised including wifi, cable, loaner cars, and nice showers. We are staying 4 days and paying for 3. Staff is very helpful and here to make your stay pleasurable. Downside is there isn't a lot to do without wheels as everything is at least 1.5 miles away. Buses to Savannah are available but tedious. Loaner cars take care of most of your needs. We'll be back.

A Stop (versus A Destination), 2013-11-28
Captain: , Buffalo, New York (1727)

We appreciate the IOH Marina accommodating us on a holiday eve, and, a special thanks to Gent, for his skills in docking a heavy vessel in the cold, wind, and tide! Kimberely was warm and inviting, and, we were able to borrow the loaner car before the marina closed for the holiday, for a quick run to the BiLo. When we pass Savannah again, we will likely look for other dock options, simply based on our style. When we pay, we aim for a community to explore by foot or bike, or, some unique offering at the marina. IOH is a bit too far from anything --- something they make up for with two loaner cars, if that is your liking. They also provide you with comprehensive information about the surrounding area, in a very professional format.

Good haven in a blow, 2013-11-13
Captain: , Portsmouth, Va (174)

A cold front with 40 mph gusts had everyone looking for a haven of some type. We were at anchor at Beaulieu and were lucky to get reservations here. We back tracked 6 miles to find a very courteous staff, excellent service, a loaner car for a trip to Savannah and the WalMart. Diesel price and dockage fees seemed fair especially considering the location, facilities and impending weather. A good place to stop. Thank you IoH.

We stop each year - again 11-1-13, 2013-11-02
Captain: , Michigan (583)

Very friendly and helpful. Have stopped eight times. Courtesy cars work great for an evening out to Jalapeno restaurant and pick up a few supplies from Piggly Wiggly! It's showing age but a great place to stop and rest up.

Enjoy Savannah, 2013-10-31
Captain: , Portland, Oregon (20)

Extended our one month stay to 2 1/2 months because Isle of Hope is such a great community, and the marina staff are so delightful and helpful. Savannah has so much to see, and the loaner car makes that all possible. Marina fees include membership at the community pool (open during the summer) which is a very easy walk from the marina. Took water aerobic classes twice a week and survived the summer heat at the pool.

Southern Charm, 2013-10-15
Captain: , Athens, GA (110)

We stayed here for two months in the summer and enjoyed the hospitality and the ability to explore such an historic area. Back again for one night in October and it is just as beautiful but cooler which is a plus. The people here are super helpful.

Great stop, 2013-08-03
Captain: , Port Everglades (525)

Very courteous staff, excellent service, nice to use loaner car for a trip to the restaurant. fair price for fuel and dockage.

nice setting amoung the old homes, 2013-07-14
Captain: , Vero Beach, FL (654)

marina has a good staff and helps anytime someone need to move their boat. marina is nessled in a nice neighbor hood with spanish moss covered trees everything you expected Savannah to look like

ioh update, 2013-07-07
Captain: , sarasota fl (20)

As of 6-29-13, both of the bathrooms-showers were well tiled, clean and readily accessible with no evidence of disrepair or lack of maintenance. The staff: Chris,Steven, Thompson and Kimberly, were courteous, competent and prompt. There is access to a community pool and there are loaner bicycles and cars for use in rides through beautiful old neighborhoods. Isle of hope is still a nice place to stay and rates are competitive for the area.

An OK stop if you need a car, 2013-06-28
Captain: , St. Petersburg, FL (328)

If they did not have a loaner car i would not return. The marina is very small with little to offer.

Wouldn't stay here again for the price - dirty bathrooms, 2013-06-17
Captain: , Nashville (315)

We stayed there for one night. The location is great, just off the channel and the docks were clean and well kept. Beautiful neighborhood to explore by foot or bike. However, at $2.00/foot, I wouldn't stay here again. The bathrooms were not up to standard. When I stay at a marina for that price I expect a clean place to shower and use the facilities. I chose instead to use the restroom on our boat and showered in their shower where there were old pieces of bars of soap that had been left there, and the floor was dirty, broken tiles, etc. I was very disappointed. Otherwise, the staff was very nice. I just wouldn't stay there for $2.00/ft again until the bathrooms are remodeled, or at least cleaned.

Still A Good Stop, But Work Needed, 2013-05-17
Captain: , Vero Beach, FL (884)

We stayed one night mid-May. Competent help with docking in current, cheerful staff. We enjoyed using the courtesy car for provisioning in Sandfly stores.
Most positive comments made by others are still applicable. However, there are only two bathrooms there, and one is unavailable while being renovated. The other was grubby late in the day. The cards they supply for the bathrooms and security gate were not needed, as the locks were not working during our stay. The marina will charge you for the cards if not returned and the office doesn't open until 8:00AM, with no convenient options to return the card if you depart early.
Aside from these minor issues, it remains a pleasant option.

Bathrooms need upgrade, 2013-05-03
Captain: , Salem, MA (372)

I would give them a 5 if it was not for the bathrooms. The tile is falling off the wall in one of them and the shower does not drain. The dock hands are good at getting you tied up in strong current and getting you out against it. Try the Driftaway Cafe, the fish is great.

Not again, thank you!, 2013-04-26
Captain: , Trenton ON (668)

We anchored out in the designated anchoring area. There was only room for one boat to anchor, the place is full of crab pots and local moorings. Our friends moved on to Turner creek and I wish we did too. I would not stop here again. $20 for a dingy dock pass, 1 washing machine and 1 dryer and denied use of the courtesy car. Oh well, lesson learnt. In my opinion if you want to anchor out, go a little further to Turner creek where the dingy dock is only$10 and public transport and shopping is easier to get to.

Super Friendly Staff, 2013-04-19
Captain: , Hollywood, MD (271)

We've stayed at Isle of Hope Marina several times and it gets better. Complimentary loaner car was very helpful. This is a place where we could stop and stay. Nice town, friendly folks, and professional staff. Small things like complimentary coffee and newspaper are a special touch.

Nice Marina and helpful staff, 2013-04-05
Captain: , Lewis Creek, Md (1234)

Stayed a week here. Bicycling to Winsloe Historic Site is easy. The internet works best at night when everyone else is off. Fuel was $4.44 no the cheapest at this time, but not high either. Overall the staff and the marina are nice.

Great Place..., 2013-01-30
Captain: , Savannah Ga (22)

This is a wonderful marina. Very friendly and helpfull staff. You could not ask for a better location...beautiful old homes and in an historic district. The town of SANDFLY is moments away and the restaurants that are suggested on the marina handout are great. Don't pass up the Sandfly BBQ it is wondeful...my wife said it was the best ribs she has ever had.

Great stop, 2013-01-03
Captain: , San Francisco, CA (51)

12/31/12 The marina was closed for the holiday but staff came down to check us in and provide keys to one of the curtesy cars. iOH is a very charming place to visit. Antebellum homes line the lane across from the marina. Great walk and dog friendly.

Nice marina in a very nice suburb, 2012-12-15
Captain: , Wilmington, DE (780)

clean restrooms and showers, very good staff and dockhands, complimentary loaner cars make it easy to vist savannah or run errands, beautiful suburban setting with lots of large antebellum homes and oaks with spanish moss. careful with the current tho!

Great place to stop, 2012-12-14
Captain: , Oklahoma City, Ok (21)

We stayed two months in Isle of Hope Marina (nov-dec) and have only good things to say! The dock hands are so nice, helpful and polite.....and the owners are just the same. We really enjoyed walking our two toy poodles along Bluff Drive. The people we met along the way were very friendly as well. Beautiful area!!!
We will return on our trip north next spring!

Will no longer stay here, 2012-12-10
Captain: , Sanford, Fl. (887)

We stayed here summer of 2011 and June/July of 2012 everything is still great except it has gotten more pricey since last year.
We have spent a lot of time here but no more. We stayed here for the month of June and July. Our average electric for those 2 months was $187. Yet when we stayed a month in November (with an average temperature of 70 degrees, check Savannah average temp for November) we were hit with a $418.00 electric bill. The owner could not see that there was something wrong with either the meter reading or the meter itself and refused to give us a reasonable electric bill. I recommend if you do decide to stay here that you pay your bill before you leave, (they had our credit card info and collect a months dockage in advance). Read the electric meter with a dock worker immediately on arrival and again before you depart.

As Always a Great Stop, 2012-11-27
Captain: , Fort Pierce Florida (300)

We alsways make it a point to stop here. The marina is nothing fancy, but it is clean and the staff is excellent. The loaner cars are great and readily available and there is both WiFi and cable TV. The local neighborhood is beautiful old school south. Old houses with hugh live oaks and spanish moss. Its worth the stay just to walk the neighborhood.

Great stop, expensive laundry, 2012-11-24
Captain: , Philadelphia (450)

This was our first stop at the Isle of Hope Marina. We came in on Thanksgiving day, the marina office was closed, but despite the current the tie up at the outside dock was easy, with some help of two other cruisers. We did laundry, there is only one washer and one dryer, medium sized, and expensive at $2 each. WiFi reception at our slip was marginal. Next day a staff member drove us to the bus stop to downtown Savannah (bus # 31, 45 min, at $1.75). We took a taxi back later that day, at $22 plus tip.

Refund of unused deposit received, 2012-11-19
Captain: , Sitka (39)

Please be absolutly certain of your needs before you provide this marina with the requested one month deposit to hold a two month anticipated stay. After attempting to aquire parts for the raw water circuit on our 65' Outer Reef for 3 days we discovered that the parts were not available in the area. We also wanted to get further south to avoid any exposure to Sandy. Our Visa was charged approximately $900 in March. Refund received after this review was posted.

Great stop, 2012-11-18
Captain: , Ophelia, VA (849)

This is a great marina to stop at to see Savanna without having to leave the ICW. We have stayed several times and have always had top notch dockhands, etc. The loaner cars are a plus.

This time there was a wedding reception on the deck off the dock with loud music until about 11 PM. Not very conducive for early-to-bed cruisers. At least we enjoyed the type of music they were playing. If that would bother you, I suggest you inquire about whether there will be any parties on the deck before reserving a spot.

Really Great Marina, 2012-11-13
Captain: , St. James, NC (253)

Add one more positive comment about the dockhands, they are very, very good. The docks are great. tv is so/so, wifi comes and goes but the location is beautiful. By all means take a walk around the neighborhood. The Driftaway Cafe is a very good restaurant, too far to walk but easy with one of the loaner cars. We've stayed here 4 times and it is always a most enjoyable stop.

Nice ssouthbound jumping off spot, 2012-10-17
Captain: , Amelia Island, FL (507)

The marina staff are fantastic. The dockhands know what they are doing, the price is right and the docks themselves are in great shape. The heads and showers could use a good scrubbing and the cable TV is practically useless. There is good reception for over the air digital though. The Wifi is adequate. The two loaner cars are a nice touch as there is not much within walking distance. The marina is a good jumping off spot for destinations south but do top of your fuel tanks. There is no fuel between Isle of Hope and St. Simons some 90 miles away. We'd definitely stay there again.

Great transient stop, 2012-10-12
Captain: , florida (230)

This marina is a great place to stop for a few days. The dock hands are courteous and boat savvy and owners Rick and Patti top shelf. There are two loaner cars to reprovision with.

The liveaboard community mentioned in previous ratings have left, however, so I'm guessing there are no more Thursday potluck dinners.

Friendly and great services, 2012-07-02
Captain: , Newport, RI (156)

This is a beautiful little marina with a super friendly staff. I've been through here twice now and it really is one of the better marinas I've been too.
It's not terribly convenient to town, but it's only about a mile to the grocery store, AND they have loaner cars that you can take for two hours at a time to go into Savannah or get some other errands done.

Love it there.

No Mechanic, 2012-05-27
Captain: , Wilmington DE (792)

I came in early one afternoon for repairs and thought they would have a mechanic look at the job that day. It turns out they use a contract mechanic, who was good, but did not get to see what was needed until the second day, and fixed the problem in an hour the third day.

Also note the bus ride to Savannah is a local that takes ~1.5 hours. The cab ride back was $28.

Overall a pleasant experience, fine staff etc except for the cost of an extra day that would have been avoided at a marina with an on-site mechanic.

First Class and they are proud of it., 2012-05-21
Captain: , North Myrtle Beach, SC (3210)

Everything is true what the others said, on positive side, but it is pricy. Our cable did not work, and the WiFi was terrible. However, the staff more than make up for the negatives, including price.

Super accommodating staff, friendly locals, 2012-05-18
Captain: , Dunedin, FL (6484)

Great stop just outside Savannah in historic Isle of Hope. Very nice walking area along the river and through the neighborhood. Staff great help with lines and getting set up. Marina provides 2 hour courtesy car and will also deliver you / pickup from Wal-Mart bus stop (there is a closer bus route #20, but schedule has only one local stop in the morning and two in the afternoon.) Downtown Savannah is a 30 minute bus ride, $3.00 for an all-day pass. Stay 3 nights and the 4th is free. Several close by restaurants, although none in walking distance. Marina arranges use of local pool in the summer. Many boaters here are liveaboards, very active and social group. Potluck on Thursday nights.

this place is awesome, 2012-05-04

second time here, PLAN to stay here !

Friendly Place, Great Facilities, 2012-04-27
Captain: , Castine, Maine (2997)

From the dockhands who grabbed our lines to the boaters we joined for a potluck, everyone was helpful and friendly. The floating concrete docks are great and everything about the facility is clean and well maintained. Charlie and Rick go out of their way to make sure everything is right. Their staff was always courteous, knowledgable about handling lines, and willing to help when needed.

This was our first stop at Isle of Hope and I can't think of why we waited so long. I used the courtesy car to mail some hats and pickup some provisions. Got lost twice which only made me wish we had more time to see the beautiful town.

We happened to arrive on Thursday when the weekly potluck occurs. Georgia recently changed their liveaboard law and now there is a vibrant community at the marina that organizes these events. It was a terrific night and we were welcomed right into the group. Dyna and Dylan even got to enjoy an evening play-date - 9 dogs from the transient and liveaboard community. We will most definitely be back. Next time we'll stay a spell to see more of the area and hopefully enjoy another potluck.

Nice place with courtesy car, 2012-04-23
Captain: , Marietta, GA (260)

Courtesy car made marina ideal. Location was quiet with friendly staff. Tied up on facedock, but calm and located in idle speed area.

Good Stop, 2012-03-20
Captain: , Cincinnati (1810)

Stopped here to reprovision and laundry. Having the courtesy cars made it very easy. The staff is helpful, friendly, and knowledgable and the facility is clean and concrete docks are floating and newer. Security gate, locked at night, makes you feel secure at night. Good restaurants and laundry and shopping are close by.

Very Good Marina, 2012-03-01
Captain: , N Fort Myers, Florida (516)

Very nice marina, floating concrete docks, security gate, One shower and head for each sex. They have fuel, charge $10 for pumpout, $13 per day for 50 amp electric.

Great Marina, 2012-01-26
Captain: , Cambridge, MD (170)

Stopped for a few days and stayed two months. The owners and staff are first class. Wonderful village of friendly folks and very close to Savannah via their two loaner cars. Their two showers may be crowded during busy times. Rick can arrange for any repairs and West Marine is only a few miles away.

Pleased with the peace and quiet., 2012-01-20
Captain: , Pinnacle, NC, USA (1340)

Not to mention great service, the loan of a car to shop the Pig, and assistance finding a vet in advance of our arrival. Clean, secured bathrooms. Lot's of help docking. Poop bags for the doggies and great walks in the village -- a place where everyone waves. Special!

Clean, safe, friendly, 2012-01-11
Captain: , Galesville, MD (441)

We stayed here while a weather system passed. Great staff, two cars, and free bikes. Beautiful town and easy to get to Savannah. Will definately stay there again.

Beautiful Stop, 2011-11-24
Captain: , City Island New York (600)

Forget Savannah and stay here! The setting is glorious, the people are friendly, they have 2 loaner cars to use. We are staying 2 days over Thanksgiving and have the car the whole day. Showers and laundry OK, but that's it. Take a walk down Bluff Drive to see lovely homes in the "southern" style. Easy drive to shop. Love it!

Pretty much everything you need!, 2011-11-18
Captain: , Cleveland (2083)

Although it is a bit expensive, Isle of Hope was worth it for us because we used the courtesy car to shop and go out to breakfast. Showers/restrooms were very nice as well as clean. Only downside is there are only 2 unisex showers. Pool, cable tv, wifi included in docking price.

Walmart is a couple of miles away - just about any kind of store is available within a few miles. Also, this is a very convenient location right off of the ICW. Although it is NOT a no wake zone, the many homes with boats out and the marina tend to keep the wakes down.

FUEL DOCK ... GOOD STOP, 2011-11-13
Captain: , Quebec City (90)

We stopped for fuel, water and pump out. People are really nice and offered us a really good service. Easy access by the ICW. Place to stop.

Isle of Hope Marina, 2011-11-09
Captain: , Stuart Fl (300)

Very nice facility right on the ICW. Very friendly staff. Courtesy car available. Very quiet. We were there on Halloween. Lots of activity on Bluff Road. Interesting to watch from the boat.

Glad we stopped, 2011-08-09
Captain: , Palmetto Fl (545)

Stopped for two nights. Dockhands were friendly and very capable young men. We had the use of a courtesy car to go to the grocery store and Wal-Mart one day and because it was not the busy season we were able to use it to go to the movie theater one afternoon. They have an excellent welcome packet for all boaters and are dog friendly. Clean bathrooms and laundry available.

Isle of Hope Marina - Great Stop, 2011-06-27
Captain: , Pensacola (449)

This was our 2nd stay at Isle of Hope Marina and we think it is a great place. The people at the marina are super nice and the marina is in an attractive area for walking or biking the neighborhoods. Although there is a grocery and several good restaurants about a mile away, it is via a busy road with no shoulders. The marina provides courtesy cars though which is great for reprovisioning. There is a Sams Club, Super Walmart and West Marine, alll within a reasonable distance.

Isle of Hope - Outstanding, 2011-06-27
Captain: , Dataw Island, SC (290)

stayed here one night. Staff very helpful and presented a welcoming package upon arrival that answered all of our questions. Courtesy bikes and loaner car were both used. Recommend the bike ride along the water. West Marine, Walmart close by. One of the most attractive settings we've seen so far.

Isle of Hope 2nd Visit, 2011-05-25
Captain: , Madison, Ohio (400)

This is our second stay here, will be a favorite stop for us. Staff very friendly and helpful. Loaner cars, West Marine, and Walmart nearby.

Very Friendly, 2011-05-10

Stayed here twice in the last thirty days. Great docks - secure - very little traffic. Facilities are adequate and clean. Dock hands were great!!

Great Marina, 2011-04-21
Captain: , Caseville, MI (341)

Nice floating docks, appreciate use of loaner cars to replenish supplies. About a 2 block walk to pick up bus to tour Savannah; about a 45 minute ride there, 1 Hr. 35 minutes coming back. 1 washer & dryer, but no problem using when wanted to.

Classy place, 2011-04-20
Captain: , port townsend wash. (40)

We arrived end of March and took moorage for a month. We were gone for 3 weeks. Rick (owner) took care of our windlass problem. Fun place, great peoplel (both cruisers and staff) We almost hate to leave in the morning.

Everything you want a marina to be, 2011-04-14
Captain: , Poughkeepsie, NY (5686)

The marina has been renovated with all new concrete docks and also ceramic tiled showers and bathrooms, very nice. Best of all, they have two courtesy cars free of charge for use by transients in two hour increments. The courtesy cars open up all of Savannah to explore with access to several shopping centers and many, many supermarkets as well as Wal-Marts. During the week, they offer few newspaper.

The staff is ever helpful and friendly, what more to ask?

very friendly, 2011-04-10
Captain: , Westport,Ma (700)

nice floating docks super friendly free laundry, wifi, cable courtesy car, west marine 5 miles away pretty town.

Beyond the call of duty, 2011-04-06
Captain: , Savannah,GA (376)

One of my buddies was cruising north on the ICW today and he called me since he was arriving too late in Savannah to get fuel and planning to leave in the morning before the fuel docks opened. I called Charlie at Isle of Hope marina and he agreed to take care of my fellow cruiser and he made arrangements directly to get him fuel. This marina really understands what it takes to build a solid repeat customer base. Please visit here on your travels and tell them "Olive or Twist" sent you. Give Charlie and big "Thank you" for supporting Active Captain and our boating community.

Isle of Hope Marina, 2011-04-06
Captain: , Wilsonville, AL (474)

Friendly and helpful staff. Free loaner cars. Nice floating docks. You do not want to be on the northern end of the transient dock in a S or SW wind.

Great Place to stay, 2011-04-01
Captain: , Sarasota Fl (106)

We came in late but talked with the staff by phone before they closed for the night. Everything was arranged as planned and even the neighbors were delightful. I really hope to stop again when I can spend more time in the area.

Nice Marina, Pool a Few Blocks, 2011-03-28
Captain: , Indian Harbour Beach, FL (105)

The title says it all. Stopped here in June 2010 in the 92 degree weather as the info in the guide book specified a pool. The pool in a community pool a couple blocks away. Everything else good.

Nice stop..., 2011-03-28
Captain: , North Carolina (344)

We were here for almost a week and have enjoyed the stay. Marina is quiet and secure. Everyone that works here has been attentive and knowledgable. Loaner cars (2) are available.

If you like Low Country Boil, there is a seafood market (Jackie's) about a mile west of the Truman Highway. For only $6.99, you get a huge serving. You have to get it to go, no place to eat at the market.

A REAL JEWEL!, 2011-03-13
Captain: , Fort Collins, CO (492)

Located in a lovely, historical neighborhood with many beautiful homes, made walking and biking (free loaner bikes with baskets) a real treat. Groceries and dining only 1 mile away, Walmart and Sams club 1 1/2 miles. 2 courtesy cars! Bus stop to hisorical Savannah 1 block from marina( $1.50/seniors $.75) took 45 minutes. Nice ride. Welcome packet has all the info. Service here was top notch! So happy we stayed here and not in Savannah.

Good, but not great, at least for me., 2011-02-18
Captain: , West Palm Beach, FL (82)

Good marina with good floating docks. Staff were friendly and helpful. But marina is a bit isolated. I was hoping for at least a restaurant within walking distance. To be fair, they have a loaner car, but I didn't take them up on that.

a good stop over, 2011-02-14
Captain: , Kilmarnock, VA (290)

Very nice floating docks with good power. We have found the staff to be very frinedly and helpful. We have made good use of the marina loaner car.

Great spot, 2010-12-19
Captain: , Detroit, MI (160)

Very conveniently located off the ICW! The marina has everything here that a sailor might need - great restaurant, well provisioned store, ice, clean showers. We will visit again for sure.

great stop between Charleston and Jekyll, 2010-12-09
Captain: , Wilmington Deleware (330)

The staff is very friendly. They have a loaner car and there is a grocery store and restaurants a short drive away.
The waterfront homes are lovely and the locals very friendly. a wonderful spot for a walk.

Captain: , Kingston, Ontario (1890)

Super friendly and helpfull staff. Lots of services avail and reasonable price. Will definately stay here next time when we visit Savannah.

Great Stay, 2010-07-29
Captain: , Warsaw, Ky (875)

We spent two months here leaving the last week of July. Owners and staff very professional, helpful, and friendly. Helped arrange needed maintenance.

Rick, one of the owners, assists in moving boats around.
The fairways can be tight for extended docking, when you are on the inside. Rick will help or will actually move your boat for you.

Courtesy cars a plus, can use two hours at a time. Three very nice restaurants within a mile or so of the marina.

Walmart within a five minute drive.

Savannah is an interesting city to visit. Very good restaurants.

Great Marina!, 2010-06-11
Captain: , Orange Park, FL (171)

The marina is beautiful. The staff is exceptional! Prices are reasonable. Great location with access to numerous stores, restaurants and a pool nearby.

Safe marina to leave your vessel, 2010-05-04
Captain: , Mesa AZ (1609)

Accommodating owners. Courtesy vehicles; bikes a real plus. Secure. Bus to Savannah. Protection from current and wind. Dock hands helpful.

Good Marina, 2010-04-23
Captain: , Old Saybrook, CT (1021)

We enjoyed the WiFi and the 2 courtesy cars. Nice restaurants and Super Walmart (also West Marine and major shopping centers) available by car. Easy walk to the bus TO Savannah, but, if you want to stay for more a a few hours, you've got to get a cab back. If you're using it primarily for access to Savannah, think about Thunderbolt as a better base. If you want a nice, well run marina, Isle of Hope is fine.

Nice overnight stay, 2010-04-19
Captain: , Red Wing, MN (384)

Nice place to stay after a long day's cruise from St Simons island. Lots of help at the dock with a strong wind blowing. They have a nice informational welcome packet for the marina and Isle of Hope. Had a nice chance to talk to a lot of fellow loopers staying here.

Beautiful Setting, 2010-04-14
Captain: , Louisville (291)

Very nice neighborhood of beautiful homes surrounds this marina. 2 courtesy cars a plus, given the distance to shopping and restaurants. Very helpful staff, showers and laundry very clean
