Reviews for Island Yacht Club
Unfriendly staff and decrepit docks, 2015-08-22
Captain: , Toronto (22)

As a former IYC member the downward slide of this club is painful to observe. The staff were unhelpful then and still are today. They demand a full days dock fee to stop by for a one hour lunch. Very aggressive dockmaster with an "attitude'. Its no wonder they are on the verge of bankrupcty and have lost so many members in the last few years. Try the Queen City Yacht Club or RCYC or the National Yacht Club if you want a warm welcome.

Great Club--friendly staff and members, 2014-07-30
Captain: , Pickering (10)

We have been visiting this club for years and we have always been given a warm welcome by members and staff. If not being utilized, visitors may also use the tennis courts. Pool is usually quite comfortable for swimming in the summer. Nice, isolated location for a two day escape. If you wish to visits the other islands you will need a dinghy.

Great Club House, 2013-02-21
Captain: , Bronte Harbor Oakville Ontario (203)

This is a great club but not truly reciprical. They will charge for the first night. If you have to pay I would try another marina where there's more to offer

Picturesque Club Setting, 2012-04-19
Captain: , Mimico Cruising Club ON Canada (1210)

We love the dining facility. The pool is unheated, but has a complimentary towel service. Some of the docks are a bit on the wobbly side and sometimes it is hard to find someone to sign in.

I am not a member but as a marine surveyor I have been going over there for a good ten years and have developed a lot of client / friend relationships.
If you are looking to join a club in Toronto IYC is the place.
Down to earth but upscale enough to offer top notch amenities. Members are non pretentious, good people and the staff is great. Some of them have worked there for 25+ years!
When you disembark the tender, you have lost the city and you are now on island time.....

Great location. Civilized atmosphere., 2011-05-18
Captain: , Toronto (11)

Disclaimer: this is from a proud member. The club is beautifully situated on leafy grounds. The handsome, contemporary clubhouse is comfortable and informal. There is no friction between sail and power. The social vibe is warm, personable but not gregarious. This is not a hard-drinking party club; it's a place for a good meal and good conversation with good friends. For me, there's no better place to be on a summer afternoon.

Nice club house, pool, scenic grounds.
Members lack friendly welcoming attitude, and don't like other clubs using reciprocal privileges here. Generally, this club logs few miles so is not interested in reciprocity.
