Reviews for Island Moorings Yacht Club and Marina
Engine Exhaust , 2016-08-30
Captain: , Port A (40)

Engine idling and neighbors, have you ever been downwind from a powerboat running engines for an extended time? I have several times with a boater who idles for hours on end. This would common for any Marina, however this is becoming dangerous for me. This is a reminder others are here in the marina too!

Best spot on the island., 2016-08-11
Captain: , Port Aransas, TX (44)

Stayed here for almost a year before we cast off permanently. Great marina, helpful and friendly staff. Great community with plenty of local liveaboards around. Extra bonus if you are an aviation fan, the Mustang Beach Airport next door offers plenty of great planes to watch and look at.

Nice quiet marina, 2015-08-30
Captain: , League City (194)

Stayed here for several nights mid August, 2015. Most facilites are in good condition. The marina has the standard double slip setup. The fairways are narrow and with a robust south wind getting in can be a challenge. Have lots of fenders out before hand. The docks are concrete and float pretty low in the water. The approach has gotten a little shallower than the reported 8'. We saw high 6' range in a couple of spots and mostly 7'-8'. I uploaded my logged depth data of the channel to Navionics SonarCharts. This should be avaliable on their free web app on their website (click the little sonar button on the lower left of the screen to enable viewing the logged data when in Navionic's web app). Not much within walking distance but there is a Corpus Christi bus route that stops a few blocks away. This will take you all the way to La Palmera Mall in Corpus where there is, in addition to shopping of all sorts, a couple of rental car agencies.

Great place to call HomePort (Gypsy Soul), 2014-07-27
Captain: , Corpus Christi (221)

We love it! Great people...Great Pool...the world's greatest restaurant, a true 5 star restaurant...

Bathrooms and Laundry are Air-conditioned and always clean...

In my opinion this is the best Marina West of even gives most Florida Marinas run for the money....

This is a highly recommend "HomePort"

Way better than the city marina, 2014-03-24
Captain: , Kemah (65)

Although a little further than the City marina going South this is a great place to stop over. Bar great drinks, we wanted to eat at the restaurant but as we passed the kitchen there was a lady with a dog in her arms in the kitchen, this put us off so we took a cab into town.
Cannot say anything bad about the marina and bar both great value and service.

Island Moorings getting better and better, 2013-10-24
Captain: , La Porte (30)

Entrance channel deeper than ever. Hospitality great! Rolled out the red carpet for all of the Harvest Moon participants.

Island Moorings Yacht Club and Marina, 2013-03-13
Captain: , Houston, TX (553)

Stayed there for a night at the end of the 2012 Harvest Moon Regatta in late October. Nice facilities and nice folks running it. They had a BBQ in the evening and breakfast in the morning for the racers. Good showers and laundry facilities. Worth a stay, although it is a bit away from Port Aransas.

Great Place, 2012-12-02
Captain: , Kettering, Ohio (250)

Entrance channel in great shape with 7 plus feet. Floating docks, walking distance to gulf beach, staff friendly and helpful.

Friendly place, 2012-06-19
Captain: , clear lake texas (435)

Channel has been dredged. The shallowest area (8') was at the entrance just off the ICW. Stay in the middle of the well marked channel. Friendly staff and nice facilities with pool. Town is about 1.5 miles away. Lots to do in town... Drink & eat. Beach is a 10 min.walk

Our Friends, 2012-02-27
Captain: , Port Isabel TX (640)

Stay here, so we stopped here to visit with them. It is a great marina with a store and fuel. The rest rooms and showers are clean. Good security. If you do not want to tie up to the long transient dock ask for an interior vacant slip. Friendly and helpful staff.

Great Place to Call Home!, 2012-01-14
Captain: , Fort Myers Beach, FL (110)

This marina may be a little off the beaten path, but the dredged canal is a scenic way to start or finish your day of cruising with dolphins and colorful shorebirds seen on almost every outing. The floating docks are great and the people are really friendly here. Plus the security at night is a real piece of mind!

Nobody answers phone, 2011-12-30
Captain: , Corpus Christi, Texas (11)

Callled twice to make reservations, no answer either time, moved on to Rockport marina.

Nice facility, 2011-11-23
Captain: , Nassau Bay (185)

Have been into this marina several times in the past couple of years. Always find clean facilities and friendly people. The channel in seems to be maintained and well marked. Came thru with a 5.5 foot draft, stayed in the middle and had no worries.

Shallow Entrance - Be Careful, 2011-10-16
Captain: , Road Harbour - BVI (699)

The entrance of this marina is subject to shoaling due to the passing ship traffic on the ICW. If you draw more than 5'6" do not try to get in here. You will get stuck at the entrance.

Alternate options are Corpus Christi or Port Aransas.

Restaurant and Shuttle, 2011-06-29
Captain: , Port Aransas, Texas (85)

We stayed here during a trip in mid June. Originally planned to stay at the Port A Muni marina, but numerous phone calls went unreturned - so we sailed further to get to Island Moorings. Glad we did. Pool was delightful, all the facilities are very clean. We tried the restuarant and found the food excellent. (The homemade bread with garlic, EVO and cheese served with each dinner is killer. As was the free wine tasting on Wednesday night.) I believe the restaurant has changed ownership several times, and they currently have a winner.

Marina staff were very friendly. Originally we wanted to be in the Muni marina because it was right in the middle of town. Island Moorings is a bit further out, but we found there is a shuttle that runs from around 9 am to 6 pm, that picks up right at the adjacent airfield. (Maybe 30 yards from the marina office.) Cost $0.25 each time you get on. Makes a loop thru town. Get back on - for another $0.25 to get back. Air conditioned.

very nice, very clean, 2011-01-26

Nice Friendly Marina, 2010-11-10
Captain: , San Leon, Texas (246)

Each year I stay at the Island Moorings Marina. The facilities have always been clean, in very good condition and landscaped very nice. The marina has a nice ships store on the dock, a pool, hot tub, and outside bar in a rasied patio area overlooking the water. They also have a small resturant on the premise. The resturant service was a little slow this year. But the marina staff are very friendly and helpful. The rates are very reasonable and they have a fuel dock that has diesel. The marina channel has been dredged, new jetties and is well marked. Just a few minutes away from all the attractions and beach.

New Home, 2010-01-29
Captain: , san antonio, tx (260)

Island Moorings seems to have friendly staff and good facilities. We just moved our boat here after touring several of the options in the area. The pool and hot tub look good but we haven't tried them yet. The restrooms and showers are clean as is the laundry room.

Best pool in the area, 2008-01-22
Captain: , Corpus Christi, TX (70)

Very nice facility about 3 hours across the bay from where I live, so it makes for a nice afternoon cruise ond overnight trip. Facilities are all good, clean modern showers and a beautiful pool and jacuzzi. . Much easier to access since dredging and short jetties added. Staff has always been very helpful. Highly recommend. Great little marina, 2007-11-04
Captain: , Houston, TX (1409)

I spend my summers here. Floating concrete docks, clean and well maintained. Nice restaurant, ships store, pool on site. 5 min. to the beach. Watch out for grass burrs! They are everywhere and you'll track them back onto the boat. 11/1/07 - Piper channel dredging project is complete, 8' depths nominal on the approach.

Great place, 2007-02-02
Captain: , Corpus Christi,Tx (1569)

Marina changed hands just over a year ago. All facilities are being upgraded. Good food, friendly staff, and overall nice place for South Texas
