Reviews for Island Heights Yacht Club
Nelson's Marine Center (Update), 2013-09-09
Captain: , Annapolis (442)

9/7/2013. So after week in this place (due to engine troubles), I must say that my first impression was correct. You should avoid this place like the plague. It's a long story, but suffice it to say, that Mr Nelson II is the least honest and likeable person I have ever met. Worst still, his price gouging, lack of follow through and shadiness, left such a bad taste I wonder how he stays in business.
His bill included a fee to move HIS DUMPSTER (non-negociable), overcharged for LOA (non-negociable) and contrary to common defintions of LOA, unnecessary haul outs (non-negociable and uncommunicative), horrible engine service (would not or cannot troubleshoot 101; hence an additional haul out), scurrilous charges for work never performed (under the guise of troubleshooting?!). He never check the fluid levels, turned the engine over to see if it would even turn over, said the only way to replace the starter was to pull the engine, etc. He simply plopped the boat in the water and turned the key and then promptly removed the boat in the water, claiming the engine needed major repairs.
From the begining of week he demanded the boat be removed immediately. I have caveat this story by explaing this boat was on the hard 10 years, when my customer bought the boat and wnated to move the to Annapolis. She is in somewhat rough shape, but we got her operational.
Anyway, the only way to get the boat back in the water was to pay in CASH ONLY (no credit cards or checks) his invoice of $989.75 for work never performed. Once paid his demand to leave grew stronger. We blew a major oil line and could not patch it. We called for a tow to another marina, but Mr. Nelson II gruffly towed the boa to a public dock whilst we waited for our tow.
Our next steps are complain to BBB and the Atty Genral office of Consumers Affairs (unlikely we will get results).
