Reviews for Ios Aegean Sea
Ios Marina, 2016-10-18
Captain: , Boulder (10)

Great shelter in out of the Meltemi. Probably about 10 berths with water and electricity available (purchase card at tourist shop). Plenty of fellow boaters to help with stern lines. Lazy lines not always available so plenty of anchoring to secure the bow. Ferry wash can be significant but a slight nuisance. Grocery close by. Fuel can be ordered by car tanker.

Informal marina - but ferries are a nightmare!, 2016-07-18
Captain: , Swanwick UK (515)

As mentioned in both the previous reviews, there are ferries in and out of here which create a big swell. This is, however, an understatement! The swells are dangerous - and although one review says there are lazy lines, this only applies to the part of the dock where this review is posted. There are also moorings on both other sides of the quay and these do NOT have lazy lines. The swell in these positions is extremly bad - to the extent that anchors are pulled from their mooring. On the lazy line area, mooring is fine as long as you do take a lot of distance to the dockside - and I MEAN a lot of distance (so you probably can't get off the boat very easily). The ferries continue all day - at one point there were three of the high speed ferries at the same time - one on the dock, one coming in and one going out. They also arrive in the middle of the night on Sunday nights and Tuesday nights. The town is pleasant and not too noisy - although there are crowds of people coming on and off the ferries.

Port Ios Review, 2015-06-19

Well sheltered marina. No official assistance with mooring, other sailors and bystanders assisted. Lazy lines available. The ferries run early and often, and late into the evening. Ferry wash can be substantial so moor far enough away from the quay to prevent being pushed back onto it. The port can be quite noisy with ferry passengers coming and going, music, young people full of fun. Groceries, tavernas with wifi are nearby. Water and electric are available by purchasing key cards from any of several nearby businesses.

Good shelter mooring lines secure your boat well because the Ferryboats make big swell till 19.00 hours
