Reviews for Illinois Valley Yacht and Canoe Club (IVY Club)
Great marina, but nothing in walking distance, 2016-10-19
Captain: , North East, MD (385)

Very helpful folks, nice bathrooms. We stayed one night here, then moved to the free Peoria municipal docks to experience the city.

Friendly, Helpful, Safe place to leave boat, 2016-10-02
Captain: , warm waters (828)

We left Ocean Dancer at IVY for almost two weeks in September 2016. Harbormaster Ron was extremely helpful from beginning to end. From our first phone call looking for information with tentative dates through the delay getting back to the boat, he was present and helpful. He also had up-to-date information on river, marina, and lock conditions. This was our second stay at IVY and we recommend it highly.

Nice stop on the river, 2016-09-27
Captain: , Bedford, NH (775)

Stopped for one night Sept 8 but ended up staying for 2 due to weather. Easy access from the river. Facilities were quite a long walk from the transient docks and we were at the far end. Didn't use them. On site restaurant was only open on Friday so walked to the one restaurant across the street. Food was OK. Friday went to Yacht Club restaurant on site and it was excellent. Nothing else within walking distance. Very friendly staff at marina and restaurant. Had pool but weather was bad so it was closed. Wifi was good.

Very Accommodating Marina, 2016-09-03
Captain: , Mystic, CT (190)

Private yacht club-accommodating transient boaters. Easy in off of the Illinois River. Staff very accommodating, quite friendly and welcoming. Facilities moderately upscale. Laundry, good Wi-Fi and washroom facilities. Swimming pool. Docks in great shape. Restaurant on site as well as across road. Staff will take you to local auto store for engine parts. Downtown Peoria is a taxi ride away-worth the ride to visit the Caterpillar Museum and local sights. Flooding on the river elevated the floating fuel platform above the walkways. Harbormaster put on hip waders to get to the platform to fuel boaters. They do what it takes. Prices are competitive.

Very nice club, 2016-09-01
Captain: , Frostproof Fl (260)

After 9 hrs on a hot day we were glad to stop. They have a pool, bar, restaurant and fuel. What more do you need. It is tight in the back part of the club by the fuel dock but there were 45 foot boats in there. We were there on Tuesday which was taco night. Build your own for 1.50 each. Train does pass about 3:45 in the morning.

Best pool; nice clubhouse, 2016-08-26
Captain: , Wilmington,NC (320)

A little curvy coming in. Remember to make sure you don't hit the roof of the covered slips as you enter; it is not difficult but after a full day on the river, I was not looking up. Thankfully, the dockhand alerted me and I missed it. Very nice marina; beautiful large pool; nice restaurant and bar(food was excellent); laundry. From where we docked, it was a long windy route along all the docks to the pool, restrooms, and other amenities.

Good Stop!, 2016-08-24
Captain: , Milwaukee, Wi. (798)

Great stop after crossing open water. After a long day with high waves spraying over the bow the IVY Marina was a good place to stop. The pool, bar, dining room and docks are all great. $1.50 a foot and loopers are welcome without having to be a member of another yacht club.

Very Nice, 2016-08-08
Captain: , Wicomico Church (610)

Friendly and Helpful staff; good resteraunt and bar; has pool

Great stop!, 2016-08-03
Captain: , Eagle (292)

arrived on Monday when they are closed, club member directed us to transient docks which are a far walk to showers/toile/pool so wetook the ding and it was perfect. Showers/toilet room in main building are 24/7 always open, never locked. Pool is fabulous, stayed for taco Tuesday, don't miss that! Docks were excellent, fuel cost $3.65 for premium, less for 87 octane, Deisel $3.50. another restaurant accross the street. Dog friendly with a million rabbits for your dog to chase as long as he doesn't catch them. Beautiful water front a miles down river where you can tie up to enjoy. Peoria has a great history. It was a major whiskey producer, 1 Prairie style Frank Loyd Wright house plus an additional Prairie style house accross the street alledgely designed by Frank's student.

Could be a nice stop, 2016-07-26
Captain: , Saint Charles (669)

Fuel was $3.65 per gal. on 7-22-16 Transit slip was $1.50 foot and dock was kinda short for our 370 sundancer, Food on site was good and dinning are was pleasent. Gas attendent was new he had no clue what to due with a line that was handed to him by my wife, Docks were ok to fair. our transit slip couldnt have been any farther form showers and rest rooms.

As advertised five star, 2016-05-31
Captain: , Beaver Island, MI (291)

We stayed two nights starting Oct 6, 2015. Water was down in the river a least a couple feet below low water so on approach we saw depths of around 5ft. When southbound go to green can and round, this will line you up with the approach to the harbor.
$1.5/ft, fuel was $3.39 diesel.

Update, we stayed 5/29/16 and with water a bit high we dragged bottom coming in with approach depth of only 4'10". We are on a Hatteras 53 and I think this is about the size limit for this stop.

Nice place, 2015-09-28
Captain: , Atlanta (770)

Stayed night of 9/22/15. Club was closed that day, but someone was there to help us in. Modern, clean facilities.

Best free wifi on the waterways!, 2015-09-17
Captain: , Fort Worth, TX (450)

Friendly service, good shore power, and outstanding wifi! No AGLCA or Boat US discounts. Nice pool. Great location to leave boat for a while, if needed. Our boat draws 3'10" and we had no problem docking here. When entering, stay in marked channel as we did see a sailboat go aground outside the narrow marked channel.

Good stop, fuel, food,fun, 2015-09-17
Captain: , Ft Myers, Florida (1804)

Good well protected Marina, do not have to be a yacht club member to stay here. No Wake Sports bar across the street.Fuel diesel $3.35/gal.Pool closes after Labor Day.

Friendly Taxi solves the shopping issue, 2015-09-09
Captain: , Racine, WI (371)

Great place to stay, a bit shallow on the approach but very doable, We were here on Labor Day for the cardboard boat race to raise charity funds, very active membership, nice pool, good restaurant and bar, alternative dining across the street at the No Wake Zone restaurant.

Very hospitable YC, 2015-08-27
Captain: , Iuka, MS (1130)

Protected harbor right off the river channel. Nice clubhouse with restaurant, bar, and friendly members. Shallow approach at normal Summer low pool. We saw 1.3' to spare in our 4.4' draft tug with stage of 11.9'. Peoria Heights has nice dining and Grandview Drive is aptly named--if you can get a ride up there. The bluff in Peoria is very steep and high.

Rates a 5 except for acess to shopping, 2015-06-06
Captain: , Dunedin, FL (7374)

IVY Club is our former home port. Stayed here last fall before winter up and a two weeks after spring launch. Staff & members super friendly, good food, protected harbor.

Hospitable, 2014-10-05
Captain: , Holland (270)

Nice facility, clean restrooms/showers. Has coin op washer and dryer. Gas dock attendant was super helpful. Located on a busy highway so really nowhere to walk or bike for services. No one asked or seemed to care if we members of reciprocal yacht club. Members were friendly and welcoming.

Nice place to be stuck, 2014-09-17
Captain: , Grand Haven, MI (674)

Ended up spending 6 nights at the IVY Club due to flooding and wet weather. We found the people very helpful and friendly. Members of the Club invited us to there Rib Fest activities on a Sunday and we felt accepted. Another member took my wife to the store and waited in the car while she shopped.
It can be a hike around the basin to the club house and showers but a short dinghy ride across if you like.
We were met at the dock with help to get in. Make sure you call ahead for reservations they don't have many trancient slips and they fill up fast.
After the summer season the restaurant is only open on Wednesday and Friday. The Bar is open on the weekend and Wednesday. Across the street is a bar, The No Wake Zone, OK food but that is about the only place within walking distance. The main city of Peoria is about 7 miles away.

Very friendly place, 2014-09-08
Captain: , Venice, Fl. (949)

We spent 2 nights here and had a great experience. You stir up the silt when you come in but never touched bottom with 4.5" draft. Restaurant and bar on site were nice. Ron the harbormaster was very friendly and helpful. Nothing really close by for shopping.

Very classy Marina with limited transient dockage call ahead, 2014-07-12
Captain: , Gulf Breeze, Fl (6909)

Easy well marked entrance with a very nice, very, very clean facility. With country club style conveniences. This is the best small Yacht club I've seen with 4 star restaurant and bar on site and 2 pool facilities. dockage $1.00 ft. including power. 30&50 amp. Ony draw back is limited transient space so plan ahead. This is a good days reach (8 knot boat) from Ottawa free dock. Entrance was shallow 5.5' 10-09-11. Last fuel stop before Alton/Grafton. Stopped here again 07-11-14. Still top notch! Dockage is now $1.50 a foot a worth every penny.
The channel and dock were dredged this year. At normal pool is claimed as 6'.

SHALLOW! in October, 2013-10-16
Captain: , Cedar Point, Sandusky, OH (400)

They had PVC pipes with red & green duck tape randomly scattered in the harbor, less than 5 feet in depth, we were stuck in the mud twice while pulling in. They charged us the full price, even though the restaurant was closed and so was the pool - so what were the amenities? It took us off the river.

Nice stop along the way, 2013-09-14
Captain: , Everett WA (424)

Well maintained, very nice restaurant, bathrooms and showers are first rate.

Very Nice Marina, 2012-10-17
Captain: , Oshkosh , WI (194)

Very clean, exceptional old marina. They are closed on Mondays; however, we still went in and tied off on the wall. Called a Marine Service Marina and the owner said to go in and take his slip since we needed fuel. A bit skinny coming into the marina and a very windy day butt we came in with the help of a couple of members helping with our lines. We did stir up a little silt. Be careful on the entry the red markers are for an obstruction which is an old day light marker. Read the information on approach or call. Met some very nice member and went to a local bar for diner called No Wake Zone. We usually shower on our boat but they had such nice showers we took advantage of them! A must stop marina for creature comforts.

Great Place, 2012-08-16
Captain: , punta gorda, fl (1448)

Stayed here six nights while a crew member was away. Club is great! Nice docks and pretty well protected. Great restaurant and bar with excellent view of river. Swimming pool. Laundry room. Heads/showers. Isolated from downtown. Very friendly members. Helpful staff. Water depth was a bit skinny when we were there in August 2012; it was a bit over 4 feet. Highly recommend this club.

Great place to visit, 2012-06-02
Captain: , Red Wing, MN (384)

You have full use of the yacht club and all of the facilties that the cllub members have. Pool, bar, restaurant on site. Would recomend for anyone. We draw 4.5 feet and kicked up some mud so get good directions from staff

Great Yacht Club, friendly people, 2011-11-11
Captain: , Marco Island, Florida (303)

This is a great yacht club, that is open to the public and very friendly. It is known as the IVY Club. They have an excellent restaurant and bar, serving lunch and dinner on W, Fri, and Saturday. They have floating docks, with 30/50 amp service and water. Gas and diesel fuel available. They charge $1.00/foot and it is worth it. Spotless bathrooms and showers, washer and dryer, wi-fi.

Very nice club and staff, 2011-09-16
Captain: , Mesa AZ (1609)

Shallow entry at 4.25 with silt. Staff were helpful in tie up. Bartender extremely generous with personal loaner car and drinks are reasonalble. If club restaurant closed, food available across the street. Park is .25 miles and sidewalk along street for walking/running/biking. No interesting features except pool.

Nice, Accommodating, Yachit Club, 2011-09-15
Captain: , St. Augustine, FL (4257)

Floating docks, good electricity, nice yacht club facility, helpful staff. They accept all transients, yacht club members or not. Still $1/ft -- great deal. One negative is that it is not close to provisioning, but when question was posed in the bar as to what cab company to call, someone said; "Take my car." The entrance is a bit shallow, but the silt is soft. Wonderful stop.

Nice marina, deepest in pool, 2010-09-27
Captain: , St. Louis, MO (778)

Nice Marina, bar and resturant. Fuel price on 09-27-2010 $3.50 for diesel

Great stop on the Ill. river, 2010-09-16
Captain: , baltimore md (644)

We had met an IVY member in the U.P. of Mi. He said we should stop. We did on a Wed. and the club was in full swing. Three dinning areas were open with lots of members present. All facilities are top notch. Diesel is $3.45. Showers, restrooms, laundry and wi-fi all perfect. I would call ahead a day or two for a slip. You'll like it here!

Repeat customer to terrific yacht club., 2010-08-28
Captain: , Foley, AL (985)

Previous review hit it on the nose. Very accomodating with dockage when available. So call ahead and talk to Ron.
