Reviews for Hyde Park Marina
Very nice place for transients, 2017-06-29
Captain: , copenhagen (40)

This isn't a big marina and there aren't any really fancy facilities. But there are showers and toiletss that are clean and function. We stayed on the face dock be cause we draw 7 feet. The harbour only has 5-6 feet at low tide.
Paul the dockmaster is more than friendly and helpful - give him 5 stars.
Only minus is that staying on the facedock can be a bit rolly when boats go by - but if you draw less than 6 feet you can get inside and that is very calm

Worked for us, 2017-06-26
Captain: , Stow, MA (470)

New rest room, shallow basin, friendly help. We draw 3.6 and they let us into the basin on their dock because it was just a few hours before high tide (I asked to be inside after reading other reviews). They helped get us in, gave us the number for a cab, and off we went to enjoy FDRs home and presidential library. The marina is only a mile walk to the Culinary institute. We waited the next day until 3 hours before high tide and had no problem leaving.

Wishing we could give a higher rating!, 2017-05-28
Captain: , Oxford, MD (810)

Docking was easy on the outside but wakes of commercial vessels and rude pleasure boaters make this a very uncomfortable place to be. On one occasion we were bearly able to keep our tv and wine glasses from hitting the floor. IF you are shallow draft and a smaller vessel (we are 37' and 4.5 draft) AND can dock behind the seawall, I would recommend the marina. Keith could not have been more helpful and pleasant. He was a wealth of historic and local information. The day we had lunch at the CIA he planned his lunch run to drop us off. The heads are clean and well appointed. The scenery is lovely. The location is ideal to explore the sites of Hyde Park but did not off-set the discomfort of the wakes for us. We moved to Rondout and rented a car to see the sites.

great food close, 2016-10-26
Captain: , Sandusky, OH (370)

Helpful staff watch the rock north of face dock has buoy attached rode bikes to CIA for great lunch as walk-ins then rode to walk over the Potomac bridge 3 miles each way on busy road Staff great and good prices for dockage

Excellent support and customer service from Keith and Paul, 2016-09-18
Captain: , Spring (10)

Excellent customer service and support from Keith and Paul. I had engine problems and they went above and beyond to help - provided more accessible berth by moving another boat, made numerous calls trying to get a mechanic, towed boat to ramp, offered rides, hospitality, etc. All done naturally, without hesitation. Marina has good protection from waves if your boat can get inside the jetty.

Fine place to stay for $1.50 per foot, 2016-08-11
Captain: , Maryville, TN (33)

We stayed 3 nights here on our 38 foot pilot house trawlear to check out CIA, FDR Hyde Park, and Vandebilt estate. We were charged $1.50 per foot and then had a reduction because we are boat US members.
The marina facilities were very clean and nice and air conditioned (much appreciated since in mid Aug it was very hot here).

we had read the negative reviews and then looked for other options. Shadows marina looked interesting but there was no way we were going to take our single screw trawler into the tight confines of the marina given the wicked current that runs through there. So we took our chances with Hyde Park Marina and glad we did. Hyde Park Marina is much closer to the sights (we rode our bikes to all of them) and mooring on the outside dock was very easy in the the current and wind.

Note that there are no restaurants or shopping close by. You either need to call a cab or walk some distance or bike. For this reason we are giving the marina 3 stars. Otherwise its an OK place. Power worked well (2x 30 Amp) which was included in the per foot fee. There is also water on the dock.

Price increase, 2016-06-12
Captain: , Phoenix (100)

We just talked to them and the price has increased to $3.00/foot. When I asked about the differance in price listed in AC he was very rude and said "there are other marinas around, go to one of them." Did't stay.

HUGE save by Paul & Jeff, 2016-06-08
Captain: , Saint Johns Florida (50)

TrawlerLife stayed the night and went to Culinary Institute of America, Wow amazing food and service (10.50 cab fare each way). Fair price for the marina. Prior to departure I made a huge mistake while topping off my transmission fluid, I added oil. Paul got me a pump, took me to Advanced Auto and was constantly offering to help in any way. Great Guys. I had while in Cape May purchased enough oil (gallons) to handle two changes and 7 quarts of trans fluid for a later change. The quarts delivered were in a box with other filters. Turns out they delivered all oil and I missed it. Paul saved my ass big time. Underway within an hour and a half with both transmission fluids changed.

Helpful staff, costly for the facilities, 2016-06-05
Captain: , North East, MD (385)

We paid $2/ft on 5/29. New post says it has increased to $3. We were parked outside on the gas docks all night with wakes. Dockmaster gave us a ride to/from laundromat.

Norrie Mills Yacht Basin had transient rates of $1.25/foot when we stayed there the following night.

OK Marina, Great FDR tour, 2015-08-06
Captain: , Fort Pierce City Marina, FL (460)

We stayed here 7/27. Smaller boats would be well protected in the inner harbour. They put our 54' m/v on the outside dock which is fairly new. Though a bit rocky from the passing wakes, it was fine. No provisioning here unless you take a cab.
We took a cab to the FDR home & presidential library. Regardless of your politics, this is a must see stop! Truly outstanding displays & videos of FDR's time in office. The depression & WW2 presentations are worth the visit! You could easily spend 2 days at the FDR home & library.

Good for smaller boats, 2015-02-20
Captain: , Summerlin, NV (350)

We enjoyed this protected stop. Great staff and attitude. They have clearly been working to upgrade the marina. Trains do pass nearby but not a major problem for us given the good proximity to Hyde Park. This marina is best for boats ~34' and under in length, although the outside gas dock will accommodate very large vessels. We would definitely stay there again.

Good stop , 2014-09-06
Captain: , N . KINGSTOWN, RI (162)

We stayed here twice going North and South on the Hudson. The breakwater offers protection from wakes. The staff is great, they gave us a ride to the Palace Diner ( great food at a good price) and the diner arranged to get us a ride back to the marina. Only gas is sold here, diesel can be bought at Rogers Point two miles North. Close to train tracks but there is not much activity at night.

Captain: , Annapolis, MD (435)

iIf you want a convenient stop to visit CIA for dinner, this is it. It's an easy walk to CIA, which has a beautiful campus in addition to good food. Make your dinner reservation early.
The marina has actually improved considerably sine our last stop several years ago. And the staff is very accomodating. Keep your expectations low, use your own head and shower and you will enjoy your brief visit.

June 21, 2012, 2012-07-23
Captain: , North Palm Beach, Florida (20)

Nice peiople, but don't stop. Goose excrement covered the dock and we had better bathrooms at $1 per foot on our trip up from Floriida. They charged $2 per foot. There is no restaurant. We did enjoy dinner at the Culinary Institute, but getting a cab wasn't easy.

Not the best place to visit CIA Institute, 2012-05-28
Captain: , franklin lakes , illinois (30)

We stopped over here thinking it would be convenient to be next to Culinary Institute. As prior poster mentioned, docks are definitely old and in need of replacement.
Wish there were a restaurant there, but no luck. Nice enough people, but was hoping for a better experience. Had many issues with shore power also.

Nice manager but marina is sub-standard, 2010-07-05
Captain: , Seattle Wa (200)

Only 30 amp on the transient dock and I had to get him to turn that on. Water on dock is brown. Showers were cold. Heavy wakes. No restaurant. No ice. You can use a golf cart to get within 100 yards of a gas station minimart.

Incompetent , 2009-12-29
Captain: , Orange (50)

The dock master said he has boats larger than my boat (39’)all the time and no one ever had a problem. I ran aground in the entrance, damaging both my props.

The place is a dump with dirty facilities and substandard docks. Do yourself a favor and skip this place.

Hyde Park Marina, 2009-08-07
Captain: , Clear Lake, TX (694)

Low floating dock on river for larger boats. Dock is old and in need of replacement. Staff friendly and very accomodating Took us to CIA (Culinary Institute) which is next store. Gasoline available and 30 Amp. Dock feels affect of river waves during the night. Doesn't appear to be a no wake zone. Not a $2.00 per foot per night marina.
