Reviews for Hyannis Marina
Not what I expected from reviews. , 2017-09-20
Captain: , Baltimore (150)

1 star: Dockhands. The two women they sent down to help us dock with a 15 kit crosswind were clueless. If not for quick help from a mega yacht crew next door a mishap might have been much worse. At the fuel dock the dock hand sat there while we got the nozzle and hose off the boat.
2 stars: flexibility. We were delayed because of a gale warning. You lose your reservation and deposit without 48 hours notice. 48 is 48. After spending almost $600 for two nights they wanted $10 to park a rental car in the boatyard overnight. Really?
4 stars: location and convenience. Great access from Vineyard Sound. A little over an hour to drive to Provincetown. Courtesy cars are available. The walk to town is a little long. Avis car rental at the nearby Steamship dock.
0 stars: pump out. "It works but the mega yacht is blocking it"
5 stars: laundromat. 6 modern efficient washing machines and 5 high capacity dryers.
0 stars: intangibles. A boat load of drunks intermittently blasting music between 0130 and 0400. No wonder one was passed out in the cockpit in the morning. I know the marina can't control everything but given its large size a night watchman would not be unreasonable. Further note on one of the dock girls - she couldn't figure out how to turn the water off at the hose bib.

The dockhands were all very pleasant, but be prepared to be very specific with instructions for mooring and ask your questions before they disappear. The power was among the worst we have encountered in New England, and even an electrician couldn't fix it. There's more of a commercial feel to the facility than resort. But we still had a great visit, the restaurant was good and Hyannis is an excellent location.

Stayed over 4th of July and it was an outstanding few days. Dock Master Carla and her team are absolute pros, from knowing how to communicate on your approach to getting you in your slip and dock hands properly tying your boat up, they just simply get it. Having come from two other marinas before our arrival, it really showed just how professional the team at Hyannis is. Plenty to see and do within quick uber ride distance, courtesy cars at the marina were a huge plus for provisioning, easy dinghy ride in the harbor to multiple restaurants. Just a nice place to be. It has been 16 years since we pulled into Hyannis marina with a boat and we will absolutely be back very soon.

What a marina should be, 2016-08-24

Spent a couple days at Hyannis Marina earlier in August, and the staff are wonderful, from the dock hands, dock master, chandlery staff, and of course the bar staff at the two on site restaurant/pubs. Great mud slides... Floating docks are always great to have, but here, in addition, almost all of them have piers on both sides of your slip. No bumper car docking, you have a floating pier between you and the other boats, very nice feature. There was 50 amp or twin 30 amp service at most slips, along with water and cable tv (which actually worked). The WiFi wasn't working, sounded like it was an ongoing problem. In general, a very well run operation, we were greeted by two dock staff who helped us get settled, and then walked over to the dockmasters office, and were given a nice welcome packet in a canvas Hyannis Marina boat bag with local maps, a guidebook, and marina orientation information. Very professional.
We had a dog with us, and they certainly are welcoming to the dogs. If you are near the dockmaster office, they will be given enough milk bones that they won't need a meal for a while :-) One issue is walking from the facility into town, where you do have to walk on a section of road with no sidewalks, and at night, no lights. It's not a big deal, but they could open an area for walking thru nearer to town, the corner of the property goes near the town boat ramp, and from there you have sidewalks the rest of the way to Main Street.

We highly recommend Hyannis Marina, it's a great operation, and central to so many things on Cape. It's also a short run to MV or Nantucket from there.

A top notch marina, 2016-08-22

Hyannis Marina is the premiere marina on the cape mainland. There's a reason all the yachts make this a destination choice. Love the pool and Trader Ed's. Having a dinghy is great, as you can scoot over to the town side of the harbor and enjoy the local restaurants and shops. Lewis bay is also a good spot for a day anchor. We spent a day nestled up close to Egg Island and the kids swam off the boat for hours. Can't wait to go back next year.

Loved Hyannis Marina, 2016-07-29
Captain: , Mattapoisett, MA (10)

We loved our stay at Hyannis Marina. Very helpful, nice and professional staff - and they have a lot of staff members too helping out everywhere from fueling, docking to getting ice. The facilities were great and it was nice having the two restaurants and pool onsite. We even used the free loaner car for a trip into town. Will definitely be coming back.

Cape Cod Base, 2016-07-27
Captain: , Longboat Key, FL (1089)

Hyannis Marina is in good place to base a visit to Cape Cod. The marina is in a good location (but a long walk to town), has floating docks (but are in need of some repair and upgrading), has a decent reaturant on sight (Tugboats) and a very nice pool and tiki bar / cafe (right at the docks). The people were friendly helpful and the dock staff was well trained and competent. They have a nice marine supply store that rivals a West Marine (and at fair prices). Located just around the harbor from the Hyannis-Nantucket-Martha's Vineyard ferry terminal, there are a couple of car rental facilitiies where you can rent a car to explore Cape Cod. Just be aware that in season, traffic is crazy busy and driving can be tenuous!

Nice Stay.., 2015-09-02
Captain: , Pittsburgh (80)

A nice marina with a good restaurant on site (Tugboats). Good showers and laundry. The docks need some attention with boards coming up. The dock hands all had good attitudes but seemed rather inexperienced. I would go back, but they could use some mangagement to keep the ***** rating.

Great Marina, 2014-08-31
Captain: , Mystic, CT (190)

Came in to beat out weather. Wonderful marina. Lots of help, very friendly, use of courtesy cars, great restaurant, laundry and very clean. Short walk into downtown Hyannis. Groceries a short drive via courtesy car. Only surprise was the 6.25% sales tax on the diesel. We'll be back.

Welcome location on the Cape, 2014-07-21
Captain: , Wantagh NY (601)

There are not many facilities on Cape Cod, this is one of the best, exceptionally well run by a dockmaster who takes her job seriously, whether your average rec boat or mega yacht, you all treated the same. They also have three courtesy cars to use, nice clean bathrooms and large laundry. On site pool and restaurants in addition easy walk to Main St for a host of restaurants. Nice place to restock, recharge or wait out a storm.

Great marina, 2013-07-27
Captain: , Wickford, RI (1007)

We spent a few days here over the 4th of July.
The dock master is professional and runs a great marina. They have complimentary courtesy car for one hour which is great to go shopping for provisions. Great marine store on the grounds. We had dinner at Tugboats, and would not go back. The food was ok, but the service was horrible. I'd go back to the marina for sure and if I feel like dining out, I'd go into town.

Top notch, friendly marina, 2013-06-18
Captain: , Yorktown, VA (972)

We only stayed one night at $4 per foot but the facilities were great. The laundry room had 5 washers and 6 dryers that actually worked. They have a courtesy car, pool side bar, ship's store. Active, fun harbor.
We were not impressed with the town, restuarants, or bars. Came back to the boat to eat to avoid sub-par expensive food.

The only game in town, But, who cares? It's great!, 2012-12-06

Good facilities and an entertaining, destination restaurant make this a good Cape Cod destination!
Tugboats restaurant is great to take the kids to!

Very Nice stay, 2012-07-30
Captain: , Aventura, Florida (330)

we were here foe 2 nights. It was a pleasure here. the dock hands were helpful and the car for use was a life saver. There is a brand new stop and shop 3 miles from marina. It opened 2 days before we got there. There are 2 resturannts on site, along with a nice little pool. We will be back.

A Great place to Stay, 2012-06-30
Captain: , Midland Ontario (660)

A marina with everything you need including two hopping restaurants that serve good food. There is 24 hour security and all the amenities that a cruiser could want.
Hyannis is a tourist town where everybody seems to be going somewhere else. During our visit in June it had an edge that one would expect in a larger town.

Great Place to stay, 2011-06-13

I've kept my boat there for the winter several times. Well protected. Tugboats restaurant is great and onsite. Other very good restaurants within 10 minute walk. Staff is top notch and honest.

Great Facility and Staff, 2010-06-01
Captain: , MA and Southwest FL (538)

Great location and the only place you'll want to stay in Hyannis. Excellent restaurants, helpful staff and handy ships store on site.

We met some great dock neighbors which added to our enjoying the stay. J Dock is the best!

Upon arrival we were met at our slip and helped in, good thing as the winds were at 25+kts...ouch! Docks were in good shape and the staff was able to help with any questions we had.

One down side for us (traveling with kids) is that the pool opens up around 10am and closes at 5pm. Kids love to swim in the evening, but since the pool is within the patio of Trader Ed's Bar and Grille, it's understandable why they must close it. However, Sunday morning the pool wasn't going to open until noon when the bar opens and can legally serve alcohol. However, it was 11am and we wanted a swim, so I poked my head into the staff opening up the restaurant and asked when they'd open. Realizing the situation, they prompltly offered to open the pool for us now. Great job on their part!!

We enjoyed our morning power walks through the local neighborhood along the coast. The walk to downtown for shopping was nice, too. Never took them up on their free courtesy cars, as the walks were more enjoyable with the weather so nice.

We'll be back!

We pulled in w/o a reservation the third Monday in August 2006 at around 5pm. We got a slip no problem by pulling up to the fuel dock/dockmaster. Nice floating docks, water & electric. Dock & the property are immaculate. Full marine, repair & haulout services. Free loaner car, bar & restaurant on premises, good food & fairly reasonable. We stayed 3 nights & fished every day. I would reccomend it.
