Still under construction, 2015-11-14
Captain: , Sarasota, FL (60)

it's still fenced in and under construction as of today.

Still NO TRESPASSING SIGNS, 2015-02-15
Captain: , Jacksonville, Fl (71)

It will be nice when finished BUT it remains posted.

Empty Docks - Nothing Else, 2014-06-17
Captain: , Placida, FL (276)

Mid June 2014 - No signs of life, Just empty docks posted to keep off.

Not finished, 2014-02-15
Captain: , Southport, NC (706)

Not open but work continues as we paddled kayaks into this area. The water was very clear and protected. Maybe one day it will be finished.

Publix should buy this property, 2013-12-13
Captain: , Charleston SC (713)

This would be a superb site for a dinghy landing near to the supermarkets and box stores but as of now, they are not allowing landings here nor is the marina apparently functional yet.

Work in progress, 2013-05-12
Captain: , Dallas (57)

The docks substructure is complete and about one third of the decking is complete. What has been completed looks very nice, but a lot of work yet to go for an operational marina. The location is next to Publix and in the center of Marathon. No wake at the end of this channel.

Work has begun, 2013-01-02
Captain: , Eagle Harbor, WA (424)

Significant progress is being made toward a new marina at this site, still lots to be completed.

Still closed., 2012-01-08
Captain: , Central Illinois (497)

As of Jan 2012 still closed with no real progess shown.

2010 Update (4/10), 2011-01-17
Captain: , Sarasota (1427)

Update Jan 2011: Still a work in progress and still closed. Rumor at the barbershop was that this facility is owned by a construction company that works on marina when there aren't other (paying) jobs. Have not seen any work being done.
The marina has been closed and under construction since Dec '09. It appears they tore out everything and started from scratch. Perhaps in a month or so they might be done, based on appearance of the facilty. It will probably be nice when done. Had to give it a rating, so 3 stars.

New owners as of winter 2008-9, 2009-06-09
Captain: , Gloucester, Mass. (799)

People who've stayed recently like it. Give it a try. Not fancy, no facilities, but less expensive than other Marathon marinas.

Stay away!!, 2008-11-30
Captain: , fairland (2653)

I made reserations last season for a slip at Sombrero. When we arrived yesterday, we were stuck in this place. It is very close to the Publix, but the pilings and electrical are not safe, it is three blocks from the shower and head and their punp out doesn't work. That may or mat not be the reason for the foul smell. I'll talk to John the dockmaster this morning about alternatives, but I think we are leaving.
