Reviews for Hurricane Boatyard
Great DIY or full service boatyard, 2016-06-20
Captain: , Oriental, NC (89)

April 2011, pulled out here for a quick bottom paint, ended up with major blister repairs. After my plans fell through, most of the work was done by the yard at for a very reasonable (time and materials) price. May 2013 back for bottom paint. May 2016 Hurricane stripped down to the barrier coat and put Coppercoat on - Great job!

Nice friendly family affair, 2015-12-20

A long way from home..New Zealand. We came to this area to visit US friends. This boatyard was fantastic for us. Friendly and helpful. For the DIY cruiser this is it! It is well run and clean but not "spit and polish". We could just get on with the maintenance. Power, water and compressed air are at each site. The bathroom facility was good. There are plans to put in a laundry and lounge area. There are a few basic supplies ie hardware in Bayboro and alot of marine specialists in the general area between Oriental and New Bern. We leave with pleasant memories of the staff and yard

Good DIY Boatyard, 2015-11-26
Captain: , Port Lavaca, TX (110)

We hauled out for a season here to paint our boat. We did all our own work, so I can't comment on the quality of the in-house repairs, but all the staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful. The price is hard to beat and they did allow us to live aboard while we worked. Groceries, Walmart, and laundry would be a quick car ride or a hair raising bike ride away. We'd definitely consider coming here for future repairs.

It's home and we love it., 2015-05-18

As a DIY boat owner this yard is perfect and better yet if I need an expert they are here and willing to share. We come and go alot and when we leave the boat here I know John and his staff will take care of it. We moved here from Oriental seven years ago and have never regretted it. We are close to any goods and services you could need. Its a place we always love to come back to after an extended cruse. The dock here on the Bay River is one of the most serene and beautiful locations you will ever sail to.

Stolen Items, Shoddy Work ...Avoid This Scam, 2013-06-07
Captain: , Palm Coast, FL (20)

"Over charges for accomplished work, charges for work not accomplished plus overall workmanship far below fundamental marine industry standards; unfortunately the list goes on and on. Items (prop, anchors, chain, anchor rodes, VHF, etc.) lost / stolen from boat and from yard's "secure" storage". More at, the Block Island 40 Owner's Association Web Site

Good Family Boatyard off ICW, 2009-07-01
Captain: , Vandemere NC (418)

Hurricane Boatyard is a small facility that is longtime family owned and operated. Facilities include a transient dock, travel-all, storage yard and they have mechanics and electrician available. DIY boaters are welcomed, or full service mainetnance. Fair and trustworthy family that is very helpful.
