Reviews for Huron Municipal Boat Basin
A Great Small Marina and Town, 2017-02-08
Captain: , Erie, PA (120)

I can't say enough good things about this harbor and marina. We visited last summer on our family boat trip from Erie to the Lake Erie islands and they are truly hidden gems. The Municipal Boat Basin includes a small number of transient slips for boats up to about 35-feet and attractive new facilities (washrooms, showers, laundry) that are clean, spacious, air conditioned, and conveniently located. There is plenty of shade on shore and lots of picnic tables. Staff are helpful, the marina amphiheater offers free family movies and concerts regularly, and it is a real bargain at $25 per nite on weekdays!.

Huron is a pleasant small town and within convenient walking distance are restaurants, a community market, and a Comfort Inn with docking (if you need to get off the boat for a night). This is a good place to stay to visit Cedar Point or to jump off for the islands (we left our car for several days and visited Kelly's Island). Another nearby interesting place to visit is the Thomas Edison Birthplace Museium in nearby picturesque Milan, OH, the nation's leading grain port in the 1850s until bypassed by the new RR.

incidentally, Huron is also the southernmost port not only for Lake Erie but the entire Great Lakes, if knocking off the four corners is on your bucket list!

Great Weekday Deal, 2016-07-05

This is a solid marina. It%u2019s well maintained and clean. The floating docks were quite nice. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. It%u2019s well protected from all wind directions. There%u2019s not a ton to do in Huron but the marina does a nice job of offering live music and outdoor movies. And as a nice bonus they only charge $25 per night for any boat/any size Sunday through Thursday.

Well kept facility. Helpful stall. Conserts just about every weekend. Lots of fishing boats in the fall. Not much in Huron but a nice comfortable place to spent some time.

Safe clean and Friendly, 2014-09-15

Very well protected harbor. Easy entrance off the lake. Friendly Staff who will help you dock if you call in as you approach. Clean office/lounge. Big clean showers and restrooms. Nice quiet park, with occasional activities on the weekend. Boat Store and brokerage just down the road. Hardware store about mile walk away. Certain weekend events fill the harbor, so a call ahead can be useful. Huron Yacht Club is near the harbor and serves good food. Not a huge amount to do in town, but a nice place to spend the night or get out of a storm.

Very nice harbor, 2012-07-25

I was pleasantly surprised when we spent a night at the Huron Municipal Boat Basin last weekend. Since it is a facility that is run by a municipality, my expectations were not very high. When we hailed the marina on VHF on our approach we received a prompt, helpful reply. Upon arrival we were greeted by two capable and courteous dock hands. The office and shower facilities are reletively new and very clean. The harbor is well maintained and offers good protection.I would definitely go back.

Great Place to Land-highly recommended, 2011-01-03
Captain: , Sandusky, OH (10)

Great place to stay overnight or for a couple of days. The staff is helpful and courteous and there is always someone on the docks to assist with docking. Bars/restaurants right there along with an ampitheater that has bands on the weekends. Deep water for sailboats
