Reviews for Huntington Yacht Club
Very Accommodating, 2017-06-29
Captain: , Sacramento, CA (356)

Was forced out of Long Island Sound due to a 5-day Nor'easter in October 2016. They were able to find a place to squeeze us in and give us a break on price.

Very Nice, Family-Friendly Club, 2016-07-23
Captain: , Charlottesville (265)

Small marina with a much larger mooring operation. We were able to get a same-day transient space on a Saturday in July (no club affiliation required) and stayed on the well-maintained wooden floating docks. Great service from the dock staff, including Otto the dockmaster who got our engine running when it wouldn%u2019t start! Wonderful pool with a very nice, family-oriented pool scene. Nice showers, but they are part of the pool area and so were heavily used and could have been cleaner. Excellent WiFi. The only con we could find is that the marina (and mooring field) are adjacent to the channel leading to the rest of the large harbor. It%u2019s a no-wake zone, and boats seem to largely honor it, but we were rocked a bit (and heard some loud music on passing boats) until 11:00 at night and again by 5:30 in the morning. (Granted, this was a Saturday night in July %u2013 it%u2019s probably much better during the week.) If you do take a slip, ask them to orient you bow-facing-the-channel, which should solve the wake problem, but the boat watching won%u2019t be nearly as good!

Pricy but good, 2013-09-17

Dock staff was excellent. Shower very good. Charged extra for 120 AC. Pump out weak and slow, but no extra charge.

Captain: , Bartlett, NH (150)

Entered Huntington harbor expecting to anchor but there is no anchoring inside the harbor. The yacht club was kind enough to let us "borrow" a mooring ball for a couple of hours while we went to the grocery store. Nice folks. Expected to get fuel and a pump out there but it was a tight fit to get to the fuel dock so opted to go to Wyncote where it's a very easy in and out. Fuel price at HYC 20 May 2013: $4.39/gal for diesel.

Nice moorings good facilities, 2013-03-23

Spent one night here. Clean showers. Pool is nice. Walk or take dinghy to West Marine. Launch operators are good.

Docking in the midst of a thunderstorm, 2012-09-06
Captain: , Charleston (241)

The docking was troublesome - rain and wind made it unsafe but we managed to get our boat tied down with the help of the rain drenched dock master. Its a far walk to town and the closest restaurant (Potu Pazzo) with what I consider fair Italian food. You might want to visit Caruso's Deli next door that has some wonderful and tastful items for the boat. I plan on staying closer to town on my next visit.

Good Fuel Dock, 2012-01-21
Captain: , Huntington (465)

We occaisionally fuel here. The dockhands are very helpful and need to be as this dock is tucked in a corner. Pump out is weak and slow. Better prices usually at Wyncote.

Easy to get to, well run marina. Nice pool and facilities. Dockmaster was very friendly and helpful. It is a long walk to town, best to take a cab to town or for dining out

Our Home for Hurricane Irene, 2011-08-31
Captain: , Marco Island, FL (1145)

The YC has been wonderful. I asked Otto if he could recommend someone to take our Bimini down then put back up. He told me to call Tim at Elite Fabrication. Tim and his team met us when we docked and had the Bimini down in 30 min! Then Tim overheard me saying was going out on my bike. He didn't ask where I was going but just offered to take me. He not only took me to West Marine but waited and took me back! Now that's service!!! Otto and his team were there 24/7 checking slips, moorings, lines, fenders, etc. making sure everyone's boat was safe. This is a wonderful place!

Great place, 2011-02-28
Captain: , Boca Raton, Fl (639)

Management of this private club has made an effort to attract a few trainsients with a 10% discount when dinning ( a jacket is required in the main dinning room but there is ample room at the bar annex. The saff is very friendly and proffessional, the club members welcoming.

Wonderful place to be, 2010-09-07
Captain: , charleston (771)

the facility was very well run and people helpful - in a good location off the sound

Nice place, long walk to downtown, 2010-08-04
Captain: , Liberty Landing (32)

This is a very friendly and nice yacht club. Call ahead and you can almost always get a mooring ball. They run launch service from early to late, and you can buy "coupon books" to eat at the club even if you are not a member of another club. This is a nice harbor and club about a day sail out from going through to / from NY harbor.

It is a long walk to downtown Huntington though (about 2 miles I would say.)

HYC, 2009-07-18
Captain: , City Island, NY (120)

Stopped here on a mooring for two days in July, 2009. Very nice folks, very professionally run. Sometimes difficult to find a launch driver to get back to the boat-- might be a good idea to bring a handheld VHF ashore. Beautiful pool with snack bar. Pumpout fee was 5 dollars. Some well-stocked boat chandleries down the road a mile or two.
