Reviews for Hope Town Inn and Marina
Nice clean, well run marina with a great view, 2016-11-18
Captain: , Kemah, TX (150)

We stayed mid november for 3 nights. Everyone was helpful and friendly. Rates seem reasonable given where you are and facilities. Water and electric were metered so better than the places that just charge a flat fee. Food at restuarant bar was excellent. We had both breakfast and lunch there. Free shuttle to the other side (town). Easy walk but watch loose gravel on the trail to lighthouse. Note there are signs to lighthouse from marina but when you see the boat yard you have to walk thru the boat yard (no sign) all the way to the water to find the path over to the lighthouse dock.

Great facility, 2016-06-05
Captain: , Chicago, IL (998)

We came in for a couple of nights, Robert the harbor master was helpful in helping with our lines. 2 pools, a few paddle boards guests can use (they had kayaks but they went missing), great bar/open air restaurant, free shuttle boat will take you to other points in the harbor, small gift shop, discount for Royal Marsh Harbour Yacht Club members, clean laundry room ($5 + VAT for wash/dry, and they have a service that'll do it for you - $15 wash/fold if you provide detergent, $20 wash/fold if they supply detergent). 2 small grocery stores acorss the bay, one has a bakery attached (great bread!).

Drunk yelling guys every night!, 2016-05-09
Captain: , Naples, FL (42)

We love this place in almost every way. Except, they do nothing to stop a group of drunk guys from screaming and yelling obscenities at the restaurant late at night. Not a place to bring kids.

First Class Service from the Associates at HTI&M, 2016-01-27
Captain: , annapolis (453)

LOON spent 30 days on a mooring operated by HTI&M. Prior to stopping, I sent an email inquiring about mooring rates and availability. Within one hour Linda responded with all if the info.
Subsequently, while paying, I met Linda and the front desk associates. They were ALL very pleasant and helpful (e.g., need a phone to call the U.S.; they happily loaned me one- thanks).
During my 30 days on a mooring HT experienced a front weekly and none of HTI&M's mooring failed. They all have double eyes and from my experience; they are serviced. My thanks to Linda and the rest at HTI&M for a very pleasant and safe stay.

the best stop in the harbour, 2016-01-10
Captain: , South Portland, Maine (847)

This marina has all you need from a pool (2 of them), restaurant, bar, and a short free water taxi to the town where it appears popeye may live in the off season. The shopping is as good as it gets in the Bahamas, local fresh fruit and vegies at thr only grocery and especially pies and breads are a treat. We were here with our twin 5 YO g-kids and they had lots to do.

Beautiful facility, 2016-01-05
Captain: , Mayport Florida (292)

Came ashore from the anchorage to make use of the great facilities. Wonderful heads/showers/laundry and a helpful staff. The complimentary water taxi to cross the bay is a real bonus. If you want to tie up alongside, this is really the only place to do so in Hopetown.

It's all good!, 2015-12-11
Captain: , Connelly N.Y. (343)

We spent several months at this marina this Winter and in the years past. The staff has always been helpful. We had lunch the other day and it was terrific! Note this facility is shared by Hope Town Hideways so slips for both are managed by the team here.
Power is backed up by the site generator at most slips!
Dinghy's are provided to get to town at no charge, and a pontoon shuttle runs regularly if not on demand.

A pleasure in Elbow, 2015-08-01
Captain: , High Springs, FL (687)

We stayed two nights and found the facilities to be great as was expected. Staff was available and responsvie if needed but non intrusive. The kids loved the pool and the shuttel across the harbor is a great plus to keep you dry instead of taking the dinghy.

This place is gorgeous!, 2015-07-13
Captain: , Merritt Island, FL (372)

We've been to Hopetown many times and love it, but this place makes a good experience better. The resort is clean, beautifully decorated, well-run and features an excellent restaurant. We kept the boat in the marina for a couple days and also got a suite, which was beautifully-decorated and immaculate (it even had a great kitchen with a gas stove!). Showers and rest rooms were first-rate with cold a/c. Resort staff was taking up most of the laundry facilities, but the machines were good (though expensive). There was an odd diesel fuel smell throughout the marina when we were there. Must have been a spill somewhere they didn't quite clean up in time. There are too pools. One was great but the other was too cloudy to swim in and very dirty. That was uncharacteristic considering how well the rest of the place was maintained.

Very nice., 2015-06-08
Captain: , Traverse City, Mi (281)

The mooring field was full, so we stayed at a dock for a coupld of nghts. Very nice facility - clean and well kept. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The shore power ran a little on the high side during our stay, but its either high or low in the Bahamas, so we have lerne to live with what we get. Overall a very nice marina!

Great stop!, 2015-06-05
Captain: , Marco Island, FL (1135)

The marina is beautiful with great docks, water, power, heads and staff! There's a restaurant, pool with swim up bar, small beach with kayaks and stand up paddleboards and a free shuttle to town and free WiFi. If you have visitors, there are lovely cottages on the property. Really great place!

Abaco Favorite, 2015-05-15
Captain: , Sunset Harbour, Miami Beach,FL (83)

We returned for a second time in as many years as we were so pleased with our marina stay last time. Well kept docks, friendly and helpful staff. Nice on-site restaurant, with gratis ferry across to the town if you do not want to use your tender. Wifi just okay as it appears that in the evening it gets bogged down and thus the 4-star rating.

Probably the best in the Bahamas, 2015-03-28
Captain: , Charlestown (946)

Nice resort type facility. Clean and well run. Ferry service to the town. Pool with swim up bar, tiny beach, kayacks, nice wrap around deck etc. Wifi can be marginal with everyone on it, buy basic e-mail works okay.

moorings seem poorly managed, 2015-03-07
Captain: , Wiscasset, Maine (280)

We love the resort and would like to give it 5 stars, but can't because of our recent experience with their poorly managed mooring field. We left our reserved mooring ( paid for and well marked ) and returned to find they had rented it to someone else for a week. Robert and Aaron were unable to relocate the poaching boat who refused to leave. Aaron left for the weekend with the issue unresolved and Robert seemed unwilling to encourage them to take another available mooring. After several nights on our mooring, I finally realized that it was up to me to confront the other captain. We think a quality resort should have some authority to relocate boats that have obviously taken a reserved mooring.

wonderful experience, 2015-02-13
Captain: , Toronto (230)

agree with the positive comments.
Erin the manager is great and Robert is amazing.
$100 For a week on a mooring ball and use of the facilities.

Best of our stay, 2014-10-07
Captain: , Southport, NC (130)

Just back from a week around the area. Liked this place the most and will be back. Watch out for Mosquitos at night. Fuel is available at Lighthouse Marina on the way out of the harbor.

Hope Town Marina, 2014-06-10
Captain: , San Diego (300)

Nicest Marina in the area (two bucks a foot). Friendly staff, two swimming pools, laundry
(five bucks wash, five bucks dry!) Clean showers, good restaurent (typical overpriced) free shuttle service to town.

Hope Town Marina, 2014-06-02
Captain: , Merritt Island, FL (346)

This marina is a first class facility. The staff is friendly, and the marina is beautiful. My only negative comment is the WiFi service is very poor.

Great marina and facilities, 2014-05-26
Captain: , Ft Myers, Florida (1663)

Definitely the place to stay if u want a Marina in Hopetown. Free shuttle across the harbor or take your dingy, several convenient dingy docks to chose from friendly town, lots to do, beautiful walks and beaches. Interesting dingy rides depending on weather. Hotel swim up bar pool and patio is very nice and relaxing. Restaurant on site, good showers, laundry, will wah and fold for $15/load or do it yourself for $5 per wash and per dry. Hotel/Marina staff has the right customer friendly attitude. Docks are in good repair, fairways are tight but manageable, excellent protection from all winds. $2/ft or $1.50/ft if u are a Royal Marsh Harbor Yacht club member(cost $180/yr to join).
Water .35/gal, good pressure, free trash disposal, metered electric, .70/kWh. Wifi only fair. BRC service is strong and very good. BTC office in Hopetown with limited hrs being open.5 mikes to Marsh Harbor and 5 miles to Man-O-War Cay. Good snorkeling 10 miles south and many other places nearby, depends on wind and direction. Interesting riding dingy around area to look at all the waterfront homed.Lots of Sports fishers in Marina.

Can't say enough good things, 2014-05-15
Captain: , Weston, VT (550)

Spent four nights here in May. Staff is some of the friendliest I have ever met. Facilities new and first rate. Nice pool and bar. Free shuttle across harbor that runs late so dinner ashore does not have to be rushed. Docks/water and power all first class. Good laundry albeit a bit pricey at $5/load. Will be back.

Great vacation, 2014-04-16
Captain: , Boston, Ma (60)

We enjoyed 39 wonderful days/evenings at thei wonderful resort on our sailboat. Aaron and his crew (office, dock, restaurant and shuttle captains) turned this 2 week stay into a 6 week stay. I would hope that if you are in the neighborhood, please stop and say hello to Aaron, Linda, Sam, Michael (Superman) and Sherman.

Hope Town Inn & Marina, 2014-04-09
Captain: , North Palm Beach (21)

Attractive new marina inside Hope Town Harbour on Elbow Cay. Transient & monthly rates, metered electric and water. Restaurant, bar and pool. Clean bathrooms and laundry room for marina guests. Rental rooms and villas on the beautiful property. Free shuttle service across the harbor. Hail on VHF 16

Wow, just wow, 2014-04-04
Captain: , Fort Myers, FL (1039)

We were here with a fleet event so got special rates but I would be back in a heartbeat at their full rate. Elegant without being snooty, clean and attractive, amazing pools and party area solid (fixed) docks. Water and electric rates seem high but we mostly ran off our solar panels. Shopping is seminonexistant, have to go to the other side of the harbor to get to their shopette.

Excellent Dockage Option, 2014-03-30
Captain: , St. Louis, MO (970)

This must be the best location to tie up to visit charming Hopetown. Accommodating staff and friendly service with an on-demand complimentary water taxi to town make this locale the choice of docking cruisers.

There is a lively bar and you can walk to the famous lighthouse on a dusty construction road around the back of the development.

A Jewel in Paradise, 2014-03-23
Captain: , Rockport, ON, Canada (265)

We are currently here for the summer. After looking at Marsh Harbour and comparing it to here this was a no-brainer. Beautiful facilities, great staff, free shuttle to town and an easy ferry to Marsh Harbour for guests and hard to find stuff. Two nice pools. Not the cheapest but certainly the best. Needs cable tv at the slips to be perfect.

One of the best marinas in the Bahamas, 2013-12-26
Captain: , New Bern NC (120)

Hopetown Inn and Marina is a new facility which is heads above most others in the Bahamas. Everything is very new and pretty! We took advantage of their Chrristmas Eve Buffet which was very good. This would be a "5 star" rating, but the site was experiencing sewer problems, causing the bathrooms to be out of service several times during our three day visit.

Very Classy Marina, 2013-12-10
Captain: , Hilton Head Island, SC (40)

Marina is one of the nicest in Abaco! Stayed at a slip during the Hopetown music festival (12/8/13). Top notch facailities. Would have given 5 stars but one of the showers didn't have hot water.

One of the Best, 2013-05-29
Captain: , Ft. Myers, Fl. (361)

Fairways a little tight. Sam was great helping us at the docks. Beautiful pool & bar area. Friendly staff. Clean & well maintained. Good food. Free boat shuttle to town. Walk to the lighthouse, worth it.

First Class, 2013-05-08
Captain: , North Myrtle Beach, SC (3210)

This place is one of the nicest in the Bahamas, including staff, etc. Free ferry to Hope Town across the way up till 9-10 at night. Considering they meter electric and water, the $2/ft rate should not scare you away of you don't use much.

Nicest Marina in The Abacos, 2013-04-30
Captain: , Palm Coast, Florida (785)

We were going to stay for a night or two, but the facilities were so nice and new we couldnt leave for four days. Sam the dock master is one of the nicest person you could meet and can get you anything you need for information. Everthing is new and it looks like the staff want to keep it that way.

Definately 5 star, 2013-04-27
Captain: , Dallas, TX (726)

Great marina in a great town. Spencer in the marina water shuttle will take you to the other side of the harbor into town. Take your VHF with you so you can call him to pick you up. Usually works until 9pm or so.

Great new place, 2013-04-03
Captain: , Cleveland, OHio (421)

They solved our problem of what to do when a family of four comes to your boat, two small grandkids. Solution, come here, get a room for the parents and littlest one, the older granddaughter gets to stay with us at our dock. One of the free places tha has rooms as well as docks to rent.

Food is excellent, great pool and helpful staff taking you across the harbor and picking you up at one of 5 different locations.

Will definitely stay here again.

Extremely hard to get moorings.

Can't Get Much Better!, 2013-04-02
Captain: , Stuart, FL (909)

Everything here was great. We stayed a week. The staff is terrific. Sam, Aaron, Linda, all very friendly and helpful. The docks are in great shape.

The bar and restaurant serves very good food at average prices for the Abacos. The pool is beautiful. Everything here is in good repair and working order.

The shuttle over to the other side of the harbor is available all the time and will drop you anywhere. Hope Town is a great spot. People are friendly and the town is very pretty.

What else can I say? It's the nicest marina we've been in in the Bahamas.

Still building, 2013-03-14
Captain: , Cape Coral (120)

Reasonable rates and very new, still constructing cottages.

Washing machines are cold water only, 2013-02-28
Captain: , Salem, MA (372)

The marina is top notch and I would have given them a 5 rating, but their new washing machines only have cold water. At $5 a load and the rest of the facilities new and well maintained you would think they would have hot water. We didn't find that out untill after we paid $20 for the tokens.

Formerly Solell, 2012-09-08
Captain: , Houston (774)

This is proably the best marina we have been in in the Bahamas between Georgetown and Marsh Harbour. For one thing everything actually works plus the staff is great. Aaron the harbour master wants to know if anything is not working or if they can do anything to improve the facility. Sam the dock master is very helpful and is also the lighthouse keeper and will take you up at sundown for the lighting of the kerosene light. He really is informative. The bar/restaurant has great food. Great pool adjacent to the pool with a bar in the pool. The marina provides free transportation between the marina and town. Electricity is 0.70 and water is 0.35. Royal Marsh Harbour Yacht Club discounts are available.

Beautiful new facility, 2012-07-30
Captain: , Jupiter, FL (1236)

But the service at the marina could have been better. Also, can get pretty buggy when the wind dies.
My guess is the service will improve in time, but the bugs... What can you do?

New Showers Open!, 2012-07-28
Captain: , Hope Town, Abaco, Bahamas (31)

The New Showers and Restroom facilities are now open!! The new office and accommodations are nearing completion and will be ready soon!!

a work in progress, 2012-07-11
Captain: , Ft. Lauderdale (420)

This will be a first rate facility when completed and when the staff get the kinks worked out. Hope Town has long needed a marina like this. Showers are now usable and the best I have seen in the islands. Sam, the dockmaster is outstanding.

Would be five star but..., 2012-07-08
Captain: , ft myers beach (790)

Beautiful stay but heads are the worst (we were their mid June) and they promised they were almost done with new ones. If they are like the rest of the place it will be 5 star in our next review. Swim up pool bar. Must walk up to and up the stairs of the lighthouse. Unbelievable panaorama. Turtles everywhere in the harbor as we dinked to and fro. Fun snorkleing on myriad of reefs on windward side. we saw a huge manta ray and a large shark. One of the most picturesque spots in the Abacos.

New and Improved, 2012-07-07
Captain: , Longboat Key, FL (955)

By Bahama standards this is a five star marina. They have done a terrific job putting a fresh face on what evidently was a tired location. Excellent fixed docks, clean water and power, nice head and showers (not quite done), a beautiful pool and swim up bar, and a terrific and helpful staff. They also have some small but very nice marina side rooms. While you can't get to the town by foot, they have a shuttle that runs every hour to get you there and back. Hope Town is a delightful place, fun restaurants and bars, and views out over the ocean that will take your breath away.

Excellent new pool, restaurant & good prices, 2012-06-26
Captain: , Hammock Beach, FL (233)

New pool & restaurant are excellent. Rates at $1/ft are very good for a new facility of this caliber. Construction on new condos still completing but nearly done. Dockmaster 'Sam' is also "lamp lighter" for the Hope Town Lighthouse. A great treat to join him for a lighting.

Great facilites, but stiil a work in progress, 2012-06-20
Captain: , Orlando (224)

The docks are all new, best construction we saw during our trip, but only a few slips have power and water. The pool and bar/resturant are are complete and open, but work is still taking place on the larger hotel building (noise was not a factor). One of the more challanging aspects of the operation during my stay (June 2012) was the difficuity I had in contacting them. Their VHF radio is located such that you have to be almost on top of them before you can raise them. Phone calls and emails were also not effective. But once there, the staff is very friendly. (Sam the dockmaster is also one of the lighthouse keepers, as was his father and grandfather before him). You are across the harbor from town, but it's just a short dinghy ride or they will gladly give you a ride on their pontoon boat shuttle. Probably my favorite place we stayed on our trip.

Destination/Resort Marina at Basic Marina Prices, 2012-06-11
Captain: , St. Augustine, FL (4015)

The great bar/restaurant, pool, and new hotel rooms move this marina to the resort category, but the prices remain reasonable. It does take a dinghy or shuttle ride to get across the harbor to town, but we like taking trips on boats - that's why we are all here. Hope Town is a wonderful little town to visit and staying at Hope Town Marina may be the best way to do so. If you are on one of their moorings, you have access to the pool, laundry and other services.

Great new marina, 2012-05-22
Captain: , Marathon, FL (1213)

The marina is now open. The pool, bar and restaurant are also open. As of now, some docks have power and some don't. The docks are newly rebuilt, and the resort is beautiful. Employees are very friendly and helpful. Restaurant opened 5/19/2012. Excellent food, typical Bahamas prices. I suspect that the dockage price will be much higher once the resort is finished, but definitely worth a try.

Under Construction, 2012-04-28
Captain: , Mayo, MD (414)

No power and long hose to water but is under active construction....gave us a discount rate down to $0.75/foot . RO water seemed good quality, we draw 6.5' and sat on the bottom a bit a low tide, so get an outside dock if you are deep. Should be just great when they finish. Have to take the dingy across to town.

Bar and marina open for business, 2012-04-26
Captain: , Boothbay Harbor, Maine (310)

We did not stay at this new marina but got a mooring in the harbor and dinghyed over - to the bar of course. The bar is open and the restaurant is scheduled to open in a week. The bar is spectacular with a beautfiul pool beside it. The hotel rooms are still under construction but about 80% complete. The marina has slips for 50+ boats and is operational. I don't know the charge/ft. This facility will be a welcome addtition to Elbow Cay and the local economy.

Closed on Sunday, January 29, docks under construction, 2012-01-31
Captain: , Westbrook, CT (453)

The marina was closed, and the phone not answered on Sunday, January 29. They are rebuilding their docks, and according to members of the cruise net here in Hopetown, the marina is closed on Sundays and open the rest of the week. The new docks look great, and the Inn itself is still under renovations, according to locals

Construction Continues, 2012-01-21
Captain: , Washington, DC (840)

I agree with the other reviews; when completed this facility should be spectacular. We did not stay at the marina, but used one of Hope Town Marina%u2019s mooring balls ($20 per night). The harbor was crowded, but there seemed to be available moorings. I would not attempt to anchor inside the harbor, but several boats were anchored just northeast and west of the entrance.

Central but private, 2012-01-05
Captain: , Bermuda (219)

We stayed 3 nights over New Year - construction continues (so does the associated noise), but the docks are complete and the pool/bar area is due to open in a few weeks. It will be spectacular when finished. The marina is only accessable by water, you have to use your dinghy to get into town, which is kind of inconvenient but does keep the docks very private, which is nice. Still $1/foot, not sure what the plan is once construction is complete.

Hope Town Inn and Marina, 2011-08-05
Captain: , Warrington, Pa (116)

This marina is still under construction but the docks are completed and are very nice. Having a catamaran, docking was extremely easy with plenty of room to spare. 30 and 50 amp power was convenient and reasonably priced. The interim showers were just ok. Once the construction is completed this will be a great facility. We were there for two nights. Excellent restaurants in Hope Town just a short dinghy ride away. This marina is a very good value at $1.00 per foot.

Major Renovations, 2011-05-20
Captain: , Palm Coast, FL (462)

A new resort is being constructed at the site. The old pool has been demolished and a new one is to be built. Hope Town Marina owns many of the moorings in the harbor. Call Channel 16 for mooring reservations, $20 per night.

Basic but good, 2009-07-27
Captain: , Cape Coral, FL (334)

Need dink to get to town but same for all marinas. Helpful dock master.
