Reviews for Hope Springs Marina
I was amazed, 2016-07-18
Captain: , Deltaville, Virginia (30)

I knew this marina was rated high, but I was amazed when I arrived and saw the "Club House". A 3 story modern building available to transients included a ships store in the office area, clean bathrooms and showers, a TV room, a modern workout room in addition to the slip with electric. We only stayed one night, but we're going back in a couple of days. 43' Trawler with BoatUS discount for the night, $41 and change, including electric.

First Class, 2016-07-03
Captain: , Deltaville, VA (602)

It is a 3.5 mile trip up Aquia Creek but worth it to get to Hope Springs Marina. Aquia Creek is shallow but we saw at least 5 feet of depth (and I was glued to my depth sounder).
The marina is first class in every way.
Fixed docks are in great shape, Valvtech Fuel at great prices, pumpout, fancy and clean restrooms and showers, great dockhands who know what they are doing, laundry, exercise room with great equipment, ships store includes lots of snacks, ice, food, and beverages, WiFi, swimming beach, and parts store on site.
I can't say enough about Jimmy Franklin, the managing partner of Hope Springs Marina. Not only is he one of the friendliest people I have ever met but he went out of his way to find a mechanic on July 4 weekend to diagnose and repair a fuel problem on my boat. He must have made a dozen phone calls and made several trips to my boat to see how we were doing.
If you ever own a marina, you would want Jimmy Franklin to run it!!!!

Great Marina!, 2016-05-19

Keep my boat here...great boatel & slips

Clean, cheaper gas, but limited store, 2014-07-01
Captain: , Neabsco Creek, VA (251)

This is a nice, clean marina with many larger cruisers docked. The gas pumps here are cheaper than others in the area by 20 or 30 cents per gallon. There's a fairly long no-wake zone to get to it and it gets very busy here on weekends, but it may be worth stopping at at least once in your travels along the Potomac. The marina store is focused on booze. There's every type of beer and many wine selections, but not so much as a sandwich in the refrigerator. Only chips and other small snack items. The bathroom is clean, but there's only one, so expect a line.

Great Stop, 2014-04-21
Captain: , League City, Texas (293)

This is a great marina and perfect for a stop on the way to DC. Our draft is 4' and we arrived/left at mid tide with no problems. The fuel price was great so we topped off our tanks and pumped out holding tank. The facilities are excellent as mentioned in previous reviews. We were offered a loaner car but I don't know if that is always the case, we arrived when the marina shop was not open due to a holiday but the owner touched based with us via the phone several times. Very accommodating!!!

Nice place to stop., 2013-10-09
Captain: , Quantico, VA (261)

The marina is well up Aquia Creek immediately past the railroad bridge. It has both ValveTec gas and diesel and pump out, albeit a slow one. The bath and laundry facilities are excellent and there is an excercise room with weight, treadmill, and other excercise equipment.

They are a pet friendly marina.

Take care during low tide periods as the creek tends to be very shallow. Boats drawing more than four feet "will" bump even at high tides as there tends to be some high spots throughout the creek. The yard has an excellent and knowledge staff and uses a trailer to pull boats up to 45 feet.

There are no shops or transportation outlets available to the marina. There are few transient slips and all docks are fixed with 30A power and water available.

You can call them at 540-659-6940 or hail them on channel 16.

Great, Friendly Marina, 2012-08-16
Captain: , Little River, SC (2037)

We planned to stay here and leave the boat for week while we wnet to wedding. We wound up staying for over three weeks because our fuel injection pump was rebuilt. The marina has great facilities, very clean modern restrooms and showers, as well as a common room with large screen TV, DVD etc. People are friendly and Jimmy Franklin made us a good deal on our dockage because we were here for so long. I can't however recommend their service department. They took a week to even look at our engine to determine the problem. They do not work on Diesel engines. I also asked them to look at our A/C and rewire it; they never did. They put me in touch with a local diesel mechanic who took care of the problem. The marina is very convenient to Fredericksburg and some Civil War Battlefields; also Quantico Marine Base and the National Marine Museum. Both are great places to visit. There is an extensive shopping mall about 4-5 miles away but it is difficult to get to without a car. DC is about a 45 minute drive up Rte 95. We enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it; as long as you do not need repairs.

Great place to stay, 2011-07-22
Captain: , Daytona Beach, Florida (119)

Very helpful staff, nice clean facilities, reasonable rates and fuel prices.

New Marina Store, 2011-07-12
Captain: , Yeocomico River (336)

We stopped here on our way to DC for Independence Day. The marine has a new building for the store and showers; Very nice. Fuel is self serve using a credit card, but is limited to $300 per authorization. After the second run of one CC you will need the store to turn on the pump or use a different card. Not a problem unless it is after hours. Fuel is available 24/7.

Friendly marina, 2011-04-14
Captain: , Stafford, VA (1079)

This is a nice marina (friendly staff, ValvTect fuel, pumpout) with brand new, private, and very clean showers and a new exercise facility. There is no restaurant though and you can't bike to town either (too far and way too hilly). Aquia Creek is very pretty to dingy around.

Very friendly and helpful marina..., 2008-07-17
Captain: , Fairfax, VA (9)

Pros: Nice basic ships store, 24hr gas and pumpout, very friendly and helpful staff, didn't use the showers so I can't comment on them, nice family marina.

Cons: As mentioned by another reviewer, very short finger piers which made it difficult to board my boat.

Will certainly stay there again if in that area.

Draft restricted to 4'6" or less, 50' LOA, 2008-06-22
Captain: , Pasadena, MD (1496)

Aquia Creek access is 5' at low tide, 6'6" at high. Prolonged north winds can reduce creek depths further. Marina caters to a fleet of SeaRays, but is very transient friendly. BoatUS dockage rate was less that $1.00/ft, including electric, 6/2008. Short finger piers. Marine supplies and limited munchies available. Family friendly. Showers aging. A reasonable alternative to anchoring betwnn the Route 301 bridge and Washington on a summer weekend.
