Reviews for Hinckley Yacht Services - Stuart
Great work., 2017-06-18
Captain: , Ft. Pierce (111)

A&Js has been doing great work for me over the past two years. They have repainted my bottom and straightened my shafts and struts. Tight area to get boats in but doable. very professional and trust worthy.

Best on east coast, 2017-02-06
Captain: , Tampa, Fl (52)

While passing through Stuart we needed a place to tie up so Mack Sails could pick a sail for repair. Hinckley let us come into the dock and also went up the mast to retrieve our screecher Halyard. They were super accommodating and the next time I need work or a haul out we are coming here.
Update 1/19/17. Hinckley did some work for me and shortly thereafter I had a similar problem. They stood behind their work and totally resolved the problem on their boat bucks. They are the best!n

Hinckley Stuart - Not my Favorite, 2016-12-13
Captain: , Solomons, MD (1025)

We love the Hinckley boatyards at Savannah and Oxford so when we had a problem in southern FL, we immediately thought of Hinckley Stuart. We contacted them on 22 Nov and explained our problems. They said they were busy but thought they could accomodate us. We exchanged several e-mails and I sent several pictures of our systems (we had a faulty air handler and needed two new windshield wipers). Eight days later, on 30 Nov, the service managers determined they did not have the room or the time for us. In short, I wasted EIGHT days dealing with Hinckley when I could have been finding another yard. When I give presentations in the future and I mention how much I love Hinckley, I will make sure I emphasize Savannah and Oxford and leave Stuart off the recommendation list.

I was going to give them one star, but after telling me to go somewhere else, they did offer a few recommendations. One of which was Whiticar Boatworks -- which did a great job. I figured the great recommendation was worth another star.

With such great reviews we decided to use Hinckley to paint our boat. Expensive, but good, right? WRONG. We got a bid to have our 49 Hylas to have our yacht painted in Awlgrip in January 2016. We have used Awlgrip paint before and found it to be durable, easy to clean and long lasting. A few weeks after we got the bid to paint the topsides in Awlgrip by Brian the manager, we were handed off to Chuck to coordinate the work we needed done. Then came the hard sell (emails and phone calls) from Chuck to use Imron paint. Imron paint is cheaper than Awlgrip and in hindsight we felt that was the reason for the big push to use Imron. Although we loved Awlgrip we decided the "professionals" knew better and so we went with their product Imron. We felt that on every step Hinkley pushed us to do more and more work we felt unnecessary. It always started with %u201Cat Hinckley we do it this way because it%u2019s the best". They faired the transom and built it up with a compound to fix a few dings. We were not in Florida when the work was done which was Big mistake. When we arrived in late January the first issues started. First issue was we had covered our boat to protect the deck from the harsh Florida weather .We always do this when leaving our boat in storage. Hinckley removed it when they stepped the mast right after we left and never replaced as they deemed it unnecessary. We reminded them to put it back on after the mast was stepped and were assured they would do so. When we returned the deck needed to be waxed and the sun had damaged fabrics in the boat and other damage from being uncovered and unattended. Next we track down the edges! had new signs put on the boat. When I showed Chuck that they were peeling, he suggested a little clear nail polish on the edges to keep them from peeling off! I was starting to regret using Hinckley.
Most worrisome was the paint job. The Imron just wasn't the right type of paint for a sailboat that actually gets used. This became apparent a few months later. We sailed from Hinckley directly to the Bahamas and Cuba for 4 months. The boat was only in a marina once where it was rinsed down and washed. It was there we noticed that salt had etched the paint. When we returned to Hinckley five months after the initial painting we had to haul the boat and they had to use an acid to remove the salt. Even the yard and paint distributor said they had never seen anything like it. Never in 25,000 miles of sailing with Awlgrip had we ever used anything but Awlgrip wash to clean our boat of salt residue. It always looked great. Next issue was discovered by the guys who polished the boa. He t noticed small cracks all over the transom. Brian tried to explain it as fiberglass from under the bonding they used was suddenly erupting through the paint. Riduculous? Of course. But our choice was to stay in Florida and haggle with Hinckley or just consider this a VERY EXPENSIVE lesson. We realized we would never be satisfied and left. We are currently in Europe and have now noticed that everything scratches this paint. Mooring lines that rub remove the paint down to the primer. Bumpers rubbing wear off the paint, a small bump on a plastic dock scratches. Even my finger nail can scratch through the paint! Two professional painters here in Europe laughed at their explanation on why the transom had cracks. Both explained it was too much compound used and the compound was cracking underneath. This of course makes more sense. I will say that Hinckley did reimburse me the costs of the signs. Lessons learned .Never would I recommend Imron paint and never would I recommend Hinckley Boat yard

bottom work, 2016-05-20
Captain: , Jupiter, Fl (140)

Had my boat hauled for some warranty bottom work. Chuck took good care of me. Had some additional items handled which resulted in a pretty hefty bill. Hinckley is pricey, quality of work is high.

Great Hinckley Service, 2016-01-06
Captain: , Oxford (40)

Called Hinckley for the second straight year needing service on our diesel generator. They got us in promptly, did the repair expertly, and we continued on our way south. GM Brian, Svc. Mgr. Chuck, and the tech team provide a great service to the cruising community.

Quality craftsmanship, innovation and genuinely nice people in a full service facility., 2015-06-27
Captain: , Boiling Springs, PA (11)

We chose Hinckley to take advantage of a well equipped, full service boatyard capable of handling a multifaceted repair project. We were very pleased to find a well managed facility staffed with quality people and excellent craftsmen.

From a management perspective, professional staff with a positive attitude instill in customers a sense of value and the knowledge they are having their boat serviced by competent people looking to "do the job right the first time".

On our first day at Hinckley, I was struck by how friendly everyone in the yard was, obviously to me as a customer, but perhaps more importantly, to each other! It was clear that Brian Donnelly has instilled in his team a positive work ethic based on a respectful approach to professionalism.

Chuck Ruble, our service manager, was knowledgeable and very helpful defining project parameters. Peter White, a great electrician and experienced technician, was impressive to watch and learn from.

From Stacey at the reception desk, Bill in Purchasing, Dennis in Receiving, Fred & Russ in Mechanical, Sam, Josh & Gary in Painting and Fiberglass, to Ricky, (the Dallas Cowboy's biggest fan), who kept the yard spotless, everyone was positive, polite and personable.

Our favorite employees, however, were Troy and Jim, who helped us design an arch to support new solar panels, a wind generator and several antennas. Troy was enthusiastic and energetic while showing true creative genius combining form and funtion in his design. Jim was a perfect match in this team, bringing years of knowledge and experience to ask good questions and offer great suggestions along the way. His wry smile and great sense of humor were an added bonus to a process that kept us involved in, and completely satisfied with, the finished product. These guys are awesome!

We found Hinkley's prices to be very competetive, and the quality of their staff and services to be excellent. We highly recommend this facility. We will definitely return

First Rate Facility Now a Return Customer!, 2015-05-03
Captain: , Chicago (270)

Stopped at Hinckley to have our diesel tank inspected and cleaned. Thorough and outstanding job revealed gunk that had not appeared in previous "polishes". Troy also was very helpful and inspected the rudder repair previously done. Randy, Brian and Chuck were once again very impressive with quality customer service and consideration. Can we give more than 5 stars?

This is our second visit to Hinckley. Our plan was to get the bottom painted and have the shaft checked to address a knocking noise we had noticed. We had a bit of ?mission creep? as we added a couple of projects, including new salon windows (a leak had developed) and fabricating a wedge to level the top of the mast for the wind instrument. We were motivated and encouraged to do some prep work ourselves to prevent sticker shock when we got our final bill. Once again we have high praise for Hinckley. This facility is first rate, the workmanship is excellent and everyone we encountered is helpful and makes the customer a priority.

We had Hinckley Yacht Services give us an estimate for repairs. Our rudder post rocked back and forth where it came into the boat. We have had this problem repaired several times and it was never fixed right. Hinckley redesigned the entire area. The finish product is rock solid and the quality of the work was excellent. We were aware that when the project was finished, it was over budget. Despite the overage, Hinckley stuck to the original estimate.
We were originally a bit concerned about coming to such a high profile boat yard since our 29 year old sail boat does not fit our preconceived idea of Hinckley. The yard has the feeling of a small boat yard where people take the time to greet you and ask if they can help you. Friendly, honesty, pride in workmanship and customer care are the words that describe the employees and our experience at Hinckley Yacht Service.

a few items on the punch list.

Great Boatyard, 2015-01-28
Captain: , Palm Beach (10)

I was very happy with the entire crew and facility at Hinckley. I had a very tight deadline for the projects, including running gear repairs, stabilizer repairs and bottom paint. Hinckley not only met this deadline, but we launched early, and on budget. In my many years in this industry, this is a first. I will definitley return to Hinckley in the future and look forward to their fine service.

Temporary Storage, 2015-01-28
Captain: , Marblehead, MA (10)

This is one great place to leave your boat. In our case, we started South in September from Marblehead, MA, heading for the Bahamas. But, not wanting to miss Thanksgiving and Christmas at home with our family, we needed a reputable place to leave our Grand Banks 46, "Baleen". For the second time in two years, Brian took us in, hauled and secured the boat for two months. We had engine work done, varnishing, detailing, and other minor issues attended to. The work was excellent, reasonably priced, and timely. When we returned in January, "Baleen" was in the water, ready to go, and spotless. Can't ask for more than that! Brian Donnelly and his service manager, Chuck Ruble, are truly professional.

Found our problem, 2015-01-19
Captain: , Cleveland, OHio (421)

Came to Hinckley with a coolant problem. Fixed it along with solar panel controller. Excellent service by Sam and Peter

Chuck Ruble, Service Manager, was extremely professional in handling our troubles. Let us tie up on a face dock while the work was done for free.

Hinckley staff has a total service orientation.

Will always stop there

Wow Best Treatment and Price Ever Seen, 2015-01-15
Captain: , Lizella GA (1826)

My diesel was jumping and running rough. I called and talked to the Service Manager Chuck Ruble and he said come on in. I got there at closing and they found a slip for me. The next morning at 7:30 a mechanic started working on my motor; the motor mounts were loose. Done by noon and I was thinkiing about anchoring out to save dockage fee but guess what, dockage was free and the service was half what I expected. Chuck came out to see if I got taken care of and also told me, if I wanted to, I could stay another night and get an early start. Wow so thoughtful, low prices, good work and such great people to deal with. Maybe they need to get 6 stars :-)

Thank you!, 2015-01-10
Captain: , Charlotte, vt (30)

Spent one night as a transient and will definitely be back for service. Chuck and Brian were very accommodating and knowledgable. Clearly a well run shop and their prices seem competitive.

First Class Yacht Service, 2015-01-06
Captain: , St. Augustine, FL (30)

There was no slip availability at any of the few marinas in Manatee Pocket that we chose due to Active Captain reviews so we called Hinckley to see if we could spend the night on their dock. Tom, the weekend dockhand met us Sunday evening when we arrived and helped with our lines. We discovered the night before that our 7 month old generator wouldn't run so we mentioned that to Tom. First thing the next morning we had a very professional service tech onboard. It was determined that we had a bad temperature sensor. A new one was overnighted and by noon the next day we were on our way. These folks here are very professional, reliable, and top notch. The entire staff was friendly and accommodating. They even had a shower we could use!

No Question, One of the Best Yards Around, 2014-12-20
Captain: , Stuart FL (778)

Not really a marina for transients but if there's work to be done, it's hard to conceive of a better operation at which to be. Called at 5 o'clock Friday from Eau Gallie to report water leakng around stern tube, engine mis-aligned, etc. Bad situation. GM Brian answered phone, listened to problem, asked if we could make it; once confirmed, said to come in Sunday afternoon before Christmas. Dockmaster Tom checked via phone on approach, guided us in, was on pier to take lines. Service manager Chuck somehow fit us in--small 27' transient sailboat, NOT a Hinckley--was super helpful with appropriate level of attention and detailed explanation of diagnosis and repair. Every staff member friendly, professional, helpful AND they hustle. Rates approriate for quality work; these guys know what they're doing and do it right! Not set up for overnight transients (as noted below, 1 shower, no laundry, etc.) but, in the event you need a reliable yard, highly recommended for repairs. Almost hate to leave these guys!

Bow thruster and rub rail repair, 2014-12-19
Captain: , RStLYC (85)

Brian and Chuck deliveved professional job on time and on budget . Not cheap but excellent . For the moment the Stuart site is still more a yard than a marina (only one shower and washroom, weak wifi). Would definitely return if we needed more work done on our sailboat . Good thhing Chuck noticed small oversight before launching ( no antifouling on thruster propeller).
Chuck and Brian were very nice to deal with and Chucked picked us up on a Saturday at car rental .

A Marina/Yard we are proud to call HOME!, 2014-12-17
Captain: , Portland, ON (30)

This is our home base as we store our 44 ft Endeavour Catamaran over the summer season. Very clean yard, professional service, Brian Donnelly runs a smooth operation. Highly recommended!

December 2014: Our beloved Casita was recently launched after 8 months of storage. Again, marina staff were very accommodating and we were able to fix all problems related to long-term storage. We are now heading to the Bahamas and will be back in March 2015 to put our baby to sleep again. Thanks Brian, Chuck, Danny and crew, looking forward to seeing you again in the new year!

The best Home Base in Florida, 2014-12-17
Captain: , Kingston Ontario (10)

We've considered the Hinckley Yard in Stuart our Home base for 3 years now. Every year we haul and store our beloved Casita, our Endeavour 44 Catamaran and every year Brian and staff treat us like friends. Of note, Danny in parts, Tom the dockmaster and Chuck their new service manager have been very accomodating and always willing to help. A great place to call home for any yacht wether for storage or specialized repairs and maintenance.

Storage and Service, 2014-12-06
Captain: , Stuart, FL (1019)

We stored our boat at Hinckley for seven months, rather than taking it back and forth to New Bern, NC. While there, we had a few service items taken care of (replacement of the exhaust elbow on the generator). We also had the engine and generator flushed and three air conditioners flushed and descaled.

The yard did everything we asked. We chose The Hinckley yard because of the hurricane protection they offer: boats are strapped down with nylon webbing attached to imbedded concrete beams.

We decided to have our hull painted while the boat was there and had Imron paint applied. The results were super! No defects in the paint job that we could see. There were a couple of strips of adhesive tape where the hull was masked that proved difficult to remove but nothing major.

All in all, we were very pleased with the service and the results. I would recommend this yard for service and/or storage. If you store your boat there, sign up for the bimonthly boat wash as the yard is mostly dirt and there is a fair amount of dust blowing around. We wish we had done that.

Chuck Ruble, 2014-09-11
Captain: , Saskatchewan (10)

Chuck took great care of us during our repair and when an additional issue arrose they looked after it without any questions or problems. The other staff at Hinckley are also friendly and kind, from the receptionist in the office to the techs and the guys who run the lift.

Paint and Maint at Hinckley Yacht Services, Stuart, FL, 2014-08-20
Captain: , Stuart (10)

June 2014 had the hull of our Viking painted and did much engine and mechanical work. Service was excellent. We were in the yard about 3 weeks and work was done each and every day. Randy and Dan were excellent to work with and no effortr was spared to make us happy from selecting paint colors to changing oil in the engines, we just had a great experience. The qualioty of the work was excellent as all employees were experts at their jobs. We have no hesitation recommending this yard to others.

Service above and beyond from Chuck Ruble & whole staff at Hinckley's, 2014-08-19
Captain: , Dover, DE (101)

If I could give Hinckley%u2019s more than 5 stars, I would, and that is mainly to the credit of Chuck Ruble, who went way above and beyond in his responsiveness, care, competence and concern for our boat and our family situation. Our boat was supposed to be ready on a Friday and we were going to fly in early Saturday with some of our children to sail off. Chuck called at the 11th hour to give us the bad news that he had done a sea trial on the boat and noticed another problem with the propellers. If we took the boat now, all the work we had paid Hinckley%u2019s to do would be destroyed in 6 months. Reluctantly, we agreed to let them keep the boat longer and over the July 4th weekend. Chuck knew how much we had wanted to start our trip and he even worked on July 4th, when Hinckley%u2019s was supposed to be closed and on Saturday and Sunday of that weekend, so he could get our boat back in the water by Monday afternoon. To make my life easier, Chuck also arranged so I could work in Hinckley%u2019s upstairs conference room, in their personal office space and not intended for customers to move in with their laptop and briefcase as I did.And Chuck even loaned us his personal car to use when we had to drop off our rental car back at Fort Lauderdale airport (a 3 hour round trip). And most importantly, Chuck was always responsive to our calls and patient in explaining problems to us, and he was creative and value-conscious in offering us solutions. We heard many recommendations about how competent Hinckley%u2019s was, but an equal number saying they were %u201Ca bit pricey.%u201D On that point, I can't disagree. Our bill turned out to be much (3x) higher than we expected, but a lot of that was because Chuck is also a good salesperson, and in the long run, we are glad we did the antifouling and other work we did %u2013 even though it added to the bill. Chuck always kept us up to date on estimates and expenditures, and always gave us the opportunity to decline the additional work before he started in so there were no surprises.

Boat Maintenance Services, 2014-08-05
Captain: , Stuart, FL (92)

While my boat was on the hard waiting out the end of the hurricane season, I had a few maintenance items completed, and Hinckley did quite a good job. Replacement of a main engine thru-hull and cutless bearing on the shaft. The size of the cutless bearing was unusual, and they had to slightly cut down a stock unit, but they did quite a good job, and now I will be sure what to use in the future for a replacement. They left the boat in immaculate condition, and the work was first rate. The price was consistent with the quality, but the people were fantastic to work with. Highly recommended

Excellent!, 2014-08-05
Captain: , San Francisco (10)

I needed a place to haul, derig, and load my boat on a truck after returning from the Bahamas. Hinckleys in Stuart was recommended by a friend. I was apprehensive as my experience with 3 other East Coast yards was mixed at best: expensive, mediocre to poor quality work, etc. However Hinckley's in Stuart was a delight in every way. Clean, accomodating, and even inexpensive (in yacht terms at least). Every employee exuded the attitude 'we are here to help, just tell us what you need'. The facility was clean, in good repair, and conveniently located near Stuart.

When the truck was delayed and could not arrive until Friday afternoon I was resigned to loading on Monday, however I asked without great expectation if they would load on Saturday. "Certainly, we will do whatever it takes" was the surprise reply, further I was charged no extra for the Saturday service. Another example, unstepping the masts here cost less than half what I was charged up in the Cheseapeke at a well known yard. I was leaving the east coast, so this was not done in the hope of repeat business, further other customers I talked to relayed the same experience - I was not an exception.

I can recommend this yard without reservation: the combination of facility, location, can-do attitude, quality of work, and surprisingly reasonable costs was first rate in every way.

Top Shelf Boat Yard, 2014-08-04
Captain: , Hobe Sound, Florida (480)

Former Pacific Northwest trawler owner/operators, we bought an aging 36' Picnic Boat Classic and brought to the Hinckley facility for some relatively signficant refurbishment and outfitting, with the notion of trying her out for a Great Loop adventure next season. I was in the yard tinkerring on my own three to five times a week from Mid-May until early July, when phase one of the project was completed. Every single Hinckley employee with whom we had the pleasure to interact - and there were many - was a willing and knowledgeable hand. All welcomed us and were patient with us - every day.

Professional yard at a reasonable price, 2014-07-29
Captain: , Port Ludlow (60)

Returning from the Bahamas, Hinckley personnel were top notch. They made reading our boat for storage a breeze and the facility was always clean. Brian and crew do a wonderful job and it's better than any storage facility we have been in.

No Job too small, 2014-07-29
Captain: , Santa Cruz (243)

We brought a mast with a broken spreader base to the Stuart facility--a very small job (<$200) in a yard that can take on megaprojects. We got very professional treatment--the quality of the repair was excellent, the cost was reasonable, and the work was done in less than 2 days, even though we told them we were not in a hurry. I have had similar experiences in other Hinckley yards. These people know what they are doing and take pride in their work!

Great yard, 2014-07-29
Captain: , Lewes DL (10)

They are very interested in their costomers

Good yard for catamarans, 2014-07-29
Captain: , Stuart FL (10)

Hinckley has a 25 ft width capacity on their travel lift. They were ready for my appointment and had me out and blocked in no time. Crane scheduled the next day on time and the correct size/price for the task of hauling outr masts for inspection. Arrived the next day to reinstall. Cost was in budget and efficient. Yard was helpful for minor tasks and I didn't feel nickel and dimed.

Excellent and responsive!, 2014-07-29
Captain: , Menemsha, MA (101)

An outstanding service facility! They were able to schedule work on very short notice, made specialists available and carried out all the required work quickly, efficiently and on a tight schedule, as we were passing through Stuart on our way to New England. Highly recommended.

Best Lay-up Location, 2014-06-21
Captain: , US East Coast (610)

We left our 40' sailboat here for the hurrican season. They provide electric, monthly inspection and tie-down straps (our insurance likes that).

Very friendly and knowledgeable staff treatd us extremely well even though we were just one of the "small guys". Stayed on the floating dock for the better part of the week to get read - never felt rushed or pressured to move faster than we did.

Highly recommended.

Quick Repair of Dinghy Outboard, 2014-05-02
Captain: , Essex, CT (295)

Imminent failure of trim/tilt assembly on 30hp Honda due to worsening hydraulic fluid leak led to call to Hinckley Yacht Services. Not surprisingly, given our previous experience with the yard they made our problem their problem and invited us to stay on their dock while the repair was made. The new part arrived overnight and the installation was completed by mid afternoon the same day under the supervision of our assigned Service Manager, Chuck Rubel.

New arrival, 2014-03-19
Captain: , ft pierce (54)

Called ahead and was given needed information to get to dock. Docks are very nice floating concrete with walkway to office. GM handled arrival and was very professional with dicount to rate, then took the time to chat and gave this LOOPer' an additional discount(have you ever received 2 discounts, not me).Office staff was very helpful and professional. Beautiful boats being worked on and painted, so much shine bring your shades.
Thanks to all, GM too!

great boat yard !, 2014-02-19
Captain: , Kingston ON (80)

We had our boat hauled and stored here the past 3 summers. We have been very pleased with the service and prices over this time. We did not worry about the boat when it was in their care.

This year we needed to replace our mast because it was damaged. Brian Donnelly and his crew did a great job. One piece was not shipped by Selden so the Hinckley crew made up it in the shop so we would not be delayed any longer.

The cost to have work done here is no more than going anywhere else, the service is great and the work is top notch.

We stayed at the marina a few nights. Very nice floating concrete docks.

They seem to able to handle any size job without a problem. We highly recommend them for storage, work, or a slip.

Not so great, 2014-02-16
Captain: , Montreal, PQ (141)

Lots of hurry up and wait. Be here at 8 AM, but we can't get to your boat til 1:30PM. What's that you say, no one came to the boat to work on it today?, Oh, I see, we are waiting for parts, didn't anyone tell you? No one today either, Oh, Sam is sick, we''l send George later.
We had some extensive engine work done on our little Gemini cat. Cost a fortune! When all was done and we left, we discovered, the hard way, that a ground wire had not been connected. No battery charging occurred for several hours, and that led to engine failure, we think from the lift pump. I have to say Hinckley sent someone down right away and fixed it where we were, for no further charge.
The did not cover the cost of replacing our 50 to 30 amp converter which got left behind when they moved our boat from one place to another within the yard. Might have been another boater who went home with it, who knows. $150 hurts when it was brand new.

ANTIC Clean Up, 2013-08-30
Captain: , Cowes, IOW (10)

After 9 years of living aboard ANTIC it was time to move on and we needed a marina to stay at and ready her for her next potential owners. We could not have wished for a better marina, all the staff were helpful and extraordinarily pleasant, nothing seemed too much to ask. We were wary of the cost being a HINCKLEY yard but were very pleasantly surprised at how reasonable it was. Plus the storage facilities for a potential hurricane area were second to none. The only downside being that we now want a Hinckley. Tick & Andree

Excellent service and great people. Clean boat yard and facilities. Brian Donnelly is running a great boat yard. We were impressed. They folllowed up on their work and honor the warranty.

Great People, 2013-02-02

We could not have been more pleased with the service received from Tony Scaletti and his crew. Very helpful, courteous, responsive and just nice people. Facilities were clean and more than adequate for transients like ourselves. Dockage at $11 per foot for monthly stay was very competitive for the area. This is one case that the name Hinckley did not denote $$$$$.

Left my boat here on the hard for three months (including Sandy). There is no price for peace of mind and the staff at Hinckley make up one of the most professional and helpful organizations I've encountered since becoming a boat owner. Sure the rates are high but you can be sure the work is with the best craftsmanship and also done right the first time. Well worth it.

Believe it or not, I found them to offer great value. Quick, responsive, on time. I had them troubleshoot volvo EDC issues. They did exactly what they said. See Tony.

Top Quality Work on our 24-ft beam catamaran, 2012-09-01
Captain: , Saratoga, CA, USA (10)

The Hinckley boatyard in Manatee Pocket took great care of us and our boat while it was on the hard for six weeks. They found a convenient place for our family of four (plus dog) to stay nearby. They offered us liveaboard dock space - both before haulout and after launch back in the water (with decent bathroom/shower/wifi/elec/water etc). Their fiberglass guy was top-notch, repairing our insurance hull repair to better than original condition. Great spot to hide from storms as well.

Excellent Service Stop, 2012-08-09

Excellent service yard. Good stop heading to the Bahamas and back. Nice docks. Good for major and minor projects. Big travel lift. Ask for Tony or Brian.

First Class!, 2010-12-08

I know you're thinking, Hinckley should be at the top of their game anyway. Well, they are. We put the finishing touches on a sailboat to make the transit around Florida to Galveston in November and these guys were great! They even followed up with us to make sure their work was satisfactory and when the owner expressed that one item wasn't quite right they almost begged for us to stay long enough for them to make it right.
I recognize price wise they are outside of the pocket book for most but these guys are worth the money. Our boat was re-rigged and despite 2 storms and some pretty big seas and winds she preformed great. I'm pretty sure that had someone of lesser quality done the job we would have had some real problems during our transit but the work these guys did stood the test.
Thanks Hinckley from a grateful sailor!
