Reviews for High Bar Harbor Yacht Club
Nice facilities surrounded by cottages, nothing close but an island bus, 2016-07-23
Captain: , Moyock, NC (1044)

Barnegat Light's sleepy resort village is across the basin. A dinghy ride will get you there with 2-3 places to beach. Across at the village there's a general store, several good restaurants, a deli, and a well maintained small museum toward the north end; a gormet market about midway (16th & Boulevard); and a wonderful seafood market (expensive but good), an ice cream parlor, and a small fresh produce market with a variety of reasonably price items from fruit to greens to cheese, at the end south end of the basin. From the village it is a short walk to the ocean beach. The island bus also runs down the island on Boulevard on the village side.

Friendly and helpful, although hard to get into., 2015-08-23

We ran aground coming in (5'2") on a sandbar. The channel markers split--stay to the left towards the marsh.

The facilities are nice, with clean bathrooms and showers. You also have a single bathroom/shower rather than shared ladies and mens rooms. On-site laundry, pool, and basketball court. Also had a free shuttle into town, but we walked. (no food on-site). The staff are very helpfull. Highly recommend.

Expensive!, 2015-07-25
Captain: , Apponaug R.I. (908)

$3.50 per ft. no discounts plus $15 for 1 30 amp connection. Very narrow slip. Competent dock hands. Nice heads. A full keeled boat would never the required manouvering.

Wateh for shoaling., 2014-09-02
Captain: , Grand Haven (470)

We had some windy conditions but, Keith the dock master was very helpful. Pool was very nice and the restrooms very clean.
Gas grills to cook your own meals.

Nice, Clean, 2013-08-22
Captain: , Rochester, NY (493)

Nice, clean place with modern facilities. Especially nice was the restaurant (can't remember the name!) that picked us up and brought us back! We ran aground just outside the Coast Guard station and were told that the red marker in front of the station has been missing for over two years!?!

Excellent facilities, friendly staff., 2013-07-25
Captain: , Herrington Harbour South, MD (202)

The marina has excellent floating docks, friendly staff, and clean facilities, including a pool. There is a very good Italian market about a 15 minute walk from the marina.

We encountered no problems with depth -- the Barnegat entrance channel showed about 25 feet at MTL, and 15 feet in the channel leading to the marina. But currents in the entrance channel are strong so the best time to transit is at slack tide.

We were unable to find any specific advance information on the location of the buoys in either the entrance or the inside channels. The official excuse seems to be that the location of the buoys changes often due to shoaling. This actually seems to be a very good reason for providing up-to-date information on their location. Let's hope NOAA and the CG can coordinate better in this important area.

clean and great place for week or all summer.

Great marina but out of the way location, 2011-07-03
Captain: , Beach haven NJ (510)

Nice marina with well maintained floating docks, pool, clubhouse and nice clean bathrooms but this marina is in the sticks. If you don't have a car it is a long hike to the nearest retaurants and bars.

If you need stuff - get into barter mode!, 2011-05-29
Captain: , Wilmington, NC (20)

OK, here goes. Everywhere we tried to find an open store here they said "come back ina few days!"
I'm a professional delivery guy, but like my comforts when we can get them (who doesn't). Just finished a trip to Boston - made our first call into Barnegat. 1) High bar is nice indeed, per the above. We used Sea Tow to actually make the reservation by cell about 60 miles out. No others answered our calls on a Sunday afternoon (radio or cell). The provisions are all on the other side of the harbor, but its a short walk. NOTE: Nothing here is open, before Memorial Day, but as a professional boater, I know its possible to negotiate anything; after diligent effort we scored to swordfish steaks at the main dock- comm. fishing fleet. No stores for produce, goota bum a ride to Neptunes - 4 cabs running on a Monday in late May. This town is where they filmed Swords- on Discovery -Linda Greenlaw, etc. So we got caught in the rain, and the manager at High Bar retrieved us in her car - all in all a good experience...when the ocean temp is still cold, watch out for comm fishing vessels as you leave in FOG - guaranteed this time of year. The inlet gets real sloppy in a S or SE swell.

Great stop over. Very clean facilities and nice pool. Floating docks with plenty of water. A little bit of a hike to the lighthouse and restaurants.
