Reviews for Hidden Harbor Yacht Club
Top 5 List, 2016-10-09
Captain: , Bristol, RI (766)

Hurricane Matthew - I was at the marina during storm. No damage to docks, boats, or buildings. Worst surge occured mostly during low tide so water never rose more than about 3ft over normal high tide. Lots of post height left. 35 knots winds with a couple of 50 knot gusts. Bobbie and Alan did a great job securing everyone's boat.

Hidden Harbor is on my top 5 marinas list. Great docks. Beautiful and protected location. And with Bobbie and Alan, the best management team I've ever met. I left my boat for five months in their care and returned to find her not only safe but spotless. My only worry is that they may become too popular to have space for me next year.

Small, private, and exceptional, 2016-08-07
Captain: , santa barbara (696)

Small and private marina made exceptional by Bobbi and Alan. Left our boat for about 5 weeks, comfortable that it was secure and watched virtually daily by Bobbi and Ala; stayed for several days after we returned. Ample water at docks, would be prudent to call Bobbi for dockage instructions, particularly at low tides and when current running.

Facilities are clean and comfortable.

Bobbi is a licensed captain, knowledgeable, supportive, and makes herself available to assist any way she can; Alan is equally knowleegeable and supportive and both willing and able to assist with general repairs and maintenance. They made our stay secure, comfortable and exceptional - highly recommend.

Hospitality Primo, 2016-06-19
Captain: , Newport RI (430)

We had a great stop at Hidden Harbor. These folks really know how to take care of their customers. We had a fuel pump for our gen shipped here; they tracked it and let us know when it arrived. Alan was a huge help with guidance as I installed the pump and with several trips for parts. This small marina is a hidden sweet spot.

Safe Port in a Storm, 2016-06-15
Captain: , Keyesport, IL (170)

We had stayed at Hidden Hartbor in the past, and rated it very highly. This time, we returned to hide from Tropical Storm Colin. Bobbie and Alan helped us storm tie to the dock. They had prepared all of the boats for the storm, and between proper preparation and a good protected location on Troup Creek we weathered the storm without any problems. Bobbie and Alan were very helpful and friendly.

Your Own Marina, 2016-03-30
Captain: , Barron, Wi (90)

Great stop just off the ICW. Easy to get to but watch shoaling at Troup Creek entrannce. Bobbie drove us to town. Friendly andd quiet.
Very good docks and faciliites

Wonderful marina with service above and beyond, 2016-03-24
Captain: , Cocoa beach, florida (20)

This small marina is a real gem. A lovely spot on Troup Creek that is quiet, well protected and safe - and not too far off the beaten path. The facilities are modern and spotlessly clean and the docks are in excellent condition as well. But what makes Hidden Harbor work so well is the over the top effort of Bobbie and Alan. They know boats and they know boaters, and they provide a level of service rarely found elsewhere.
They will provide a wealth of local knowledge and advice if asked, or they will leave you to your own devices if you so desire. Alan can tackle most repairs at a very reasonable rate and does very nice detailing work as well. I left my boat at the marina for 3 weeks last fall and returned to find her expertly buffed, waxed and freshly washed. Bobbie even arranged to have a rental car dropped at the marina after-hours to accommodate our late arrival.
Put Hidden Harbor on your itinerary, you won't be disappointed.

Safe in a hurricane and a lovely stop to boot!, 2016-03-21
Captain: , Bay City, MI (609)

Beautiful quiet setting and a real change of pace from the busy marina. Another real change of pace - the dockmasters know how to get you onto the face dock (that's where you will go) and are attentive enough to make sure you know ahead of time what you must do. Also, Bobbie is watching the tides, asking about your draft and monitoring what works. Alan is smiling at the dock. The lounge is beautifully decorated and clean. The bathrooms are modern and clean. Only drawback is the outdoor; shower, which is attached to the building and not heated. Washer and dryer are free for both and since it is a small marina, you will actually get to use the washer and dryer with ease. Another downside could be the distance from groceries and retail civilization, but Bobbie volunteered to drive me and we actually had a blast shopping together!
Highly recommended. Great managers and dockmasters.

wow ! southern hospitality at its best ! , 2016-03-12
Captain: , Columbia, NC (130)

Hard to beat the welcoming you will get here with Bobby & Allen - all of the below comments are right on - hard to add any further comments - you won't be disappointed - don't expect the heated pool or the tiki bar with the cute gals - this southern hospitality at its best without question

Great Support from Bobby and Allen, 2016-03-09
Captain: , Colonial Beach, VA (110)

Our stay at Hidden Harbor last November (2015) on our way south was made great by the care and helpfuleness of Bobby and Allen. From help in docking with the wind kicking up to getting a rental car. Great facility, although I would add an inside shower. Plan to stop there on our way back up in April.

Great Place to stay as you travel the Atlantic ICW, 2016-03-03
Captain: , Big Bone, KY (31)

Docks are in excellent condition with good electric and water. Nice peaceful setting. Boater's lounge and restrooom facilites are very nice and well kept. Bobbie and Alan are great people and very helpful.
We will come back here again.

Fantastic Staff, 2015-12-04
Captain: , New Bern NC (10)

We spent one evening here, docking under tough conditions, wind and current were strong, and with the expert guidance of Bobbie we successfully docked a 62 foot Hatteras on an inside slip! The next morning the staff got up early to assist in our sunrise departure with optimal tidal conditions. Bobbie and Allen are fantastic people, so helpful, so much fun, so knowledgeable. We will definitely return to this marina. Facilities were spotless and beautifully done. Fantastic sunrises too!

all are correct, 2015-12-03
Captain: , deltaville, virginia (70)

slip backoff the ICW and enjoy life......Bobbi and Alan are the best

Good Experience, 2015-11-25
Captain: , Oriental, NC (160)

This is a great place to duck off the ICW. We stayed here in October and then again in late November. The facility is extremely well maintained. Spotless clean. The staff was the nicest we have had the pleasure to visit with. They are extremely helpeful and will personally drive you to wherever you need to pick something up. This is a small marina developed as part of a condo project so it does not have a lot of special stuff but it is a great place for an evening. They do not have fuel but do have pump out. I would stay here on another trip just for the experience of seeing Bobbie and Allen again.

Hidden Gem, 2015-11-23
Captain: , Deltaville, VA (602)

Bobbie and Alan are two of the most welcoming, friendly, and helpful people I have ever encountered at any marina. Hidden Harbor is small in size but big in accomodating boaters. Clean restrooms, great boaters lounge, excellent docks, deep water approach and at the docks, quiet, secluded, a pumpout that really works.
Did I mention that Bobbie and Alan are the greatest?
Stop here for true southern hospitality. You won't be disappointed.

Great Place, super people, 2015-11-20
Captain: , Hartfield, VA (140)

Bobbie &; Alan treated us like family while we were there. Graciously offered rides to W. Marine & Walmart. Beautiful captains lounge.
NOTE: When leaving the McKay river make sure you are turning into Troupe Creek -- we and another cruiser went up Back River by mistake and almost ran aground. If in doubt, call Bobbie and she will talk you in on the VHF.

If you are having mechanical issues, Alan is the man to talk to, he has years of experience and he is a talented trouble shooter.

One of the best, 2015-11-18
Captain: , Buffalo (1144)

This marina can only be described as fun, fun, fun. Bobbie and Alan are both true jems. To say that you are treated like one of the family is an understatement. Bobbie even prepared a pasta dinner for the boaters that were here. We stayed two days because of weather, and it was the most pleasant two days on our entire trip down the ICW.

The marina is a face dock on a narrow and deep creek. There is a pumpout, and a beautiful lounge area, but no fuel. They now take credit cards. We will be back.

Terrific folks, 2015-11-15
Captain: , Washington DC (3034)

The other reviewers don't lie - Bobbie and Alan make sure your stay is memorable. Stayed 14-Nov-2015 and spent the afternoon with Alan on the boat doing some projects. I think of him as a boat whisperer - he gives you confidence to tackle projects that might be outside your comfort zone. Very modest, but he knows a LOT about boats. We will be back.

Service with a smile!, 2015-11-14
Captain: , Tuckerton NJ (20)

Can you say service with a smile?! Bobbi and Alan can%u2019t do enough for you from helping with docking to taking us to town for groceries. AND, we were lucky enough on our visit to be invited for one of Bobbi%u2019s home cooked dinners! Great stay!

Friendly, Protected and Peaceful, 2015-10-29
Captain: , Park City, Utah (42)

This Marina has several things going for it that make it a great place to stop for just a night or to wait out the hurricane season.
1. By far the biggest plus are the marina managers, Bobbie and Alan. You just won't find nicer, more caring folks. You and your boat are treated like family. I can't say enough about how incredibly well they treated us.
2. If you check the data on frequency of hurricanes visiting the Brunswick area, it is very low.
3. In the event of a storm surge, there are several miles of marsh between the marina and the ocean; the docks are floating, with very high pilings.
4. If you are leaving your boat and flying out the airport is 10 minutes away.
5. The docks are in excellent condition and kept very clean.
6. The bathrooms are immaculate.
7. I loved the outdoor shower!
8. Nice clubhouse (also immaculately clean) with a kitchenette, and a nice deck.
9. If you are out and about and in need of lunch try the pork sandwich at Willie's Wienie Wagon!

Shortcomings are few and primarily a function of location:
- provisioning or supplies require a car or a ride. Enterprise will deliver a rental and Bobbie or Alan have taken us along to provision or picked us up from the airport. There is a dollar store within 1/2 mile walk for things like paper towels etc. The Olive Affair has some great gourmet items, and is less than a mile walk.
- only 1 restaurant within walking distance: "Pam's #1". It's a great mom and pop place with good, simple fare, Pam's excellent home made Pecan pie and husband Bob will come pick you up from the marina and drop you back off after dinner if you don't want to walk.

Excellent Marina, 2015-10-28
Captain: , Cape May, NJ (130)

The marina is a short distance from the ICW. Very nice docks, cruisers lounge, nice alfresco shower. This place is another little gem. I would definitely return. What makes it so nice are the people. Bobbi is so friendly and helpful. They were right at the dock when we arrived at 6pm and again at 8 am when we departed. They offer to take you to the local Publix if you need provisions and could not be more accomodating. There are nice laundry facilities right off the cruiser's lounge and a nice porch to sit and contemplate the day

A Beautiful Haven, 2015-10-08
Captain: , Englewood, FL (905)

Such a gem...only a short way off the ICW, this is a safe & comfortable place to tie up with the benefit of gorgeous views. The beautiful lounge, restrooms, laundry, etc. are all conveniently at dock side. Dock masters Bobbie & Alan were helpful & fun hosts. They got us tied securely, assisted us with local knowledge, drove us into town for restaurants & shopping, and made our stay entertaining and relaxing. We planned a one night stay & stretched it into 2.

HHYC A Welcoming Stop, 2015-10-03
Captain: , Who Knew Green Cove Springs (40)

This is one of the best stops on our trip south. Bobbi and Alan were so gracious and helpful assisting with the lines coming and going. Bobbi offered to take us to Publix to stock up. She was delightful and extremely helpful when it came to knowledge on the local tides.
Great floating docks with easy access to clubhouse. The clubhouse and restrooms were up to date and felt like home.
We will definitely return to HHYC

A great stop, 2015-08-24
Captain: , New Bern (318)

Bobbie and Alan are truly the best and it's a nice little area to spend either a short layover or a longer stretch of time. The clubhouse right at the foot of the dock is great place if in need of some off-the-boat decompression time with all the comforts of home.

Will not hesistate to return!

Nice place, Super people, 2015-05-21
Captain: , Baltimore, MD (12)

We stayed here one night, my Birthday, on our way back North. Bobbie helped us navigate our way in letting us know when we made a wrong turn a mile out. She was at the dock when we arrived to lend a hand with the lines. Though they don't sell fuel here, she arranged so that we could get to the gas station and get our jerry cans filled. She also recommended a local eatery that picked us up. We had a splendid evening, good food and great conversation. We will stop here again on our way South.

Great Stop at HHYC, 2015-04-25
Captain: , Charleston, SC (30)

We discovered this marina last year, and what a gem! We decided to stop again this year, and received the same warm welcome & knowledgeable line-handling by Bobbie.

peacefull setting and friendly, 2015-03-26
Captain: , Chicago, Racine, Fish Creek,Wi (1870)

Sturdy floating docks are secure and in great shape. Bobby greeted me and helped tie up and cast off on departure. Washrooms are nice and clean with nice sitting room ajoining them. Bobby helped with local navigation advise and was interesting to chat with. Nice place to just sit back and relax. Only downside was shower was outside. Comparing prices with other facilities it should be a little less per foot but if you stay three days with one free it is about right. Would not hesitate to stay again in the future.

Excellent service at Hidden Harbor Yacht Club, 2015-01-28
Captain: , Charleston (10)

While travelling the ICW on "Mercy Me" we stumbled across this marina. We hadn't heard anything about the marina but called for reservations and got a warm welcome. We found the nearby restaurant closed and Allen & Bobbie invited us for supper. Can" get any better than that. I'll be back!

great stop, 2014-12-31
Captain: , New Smyrna Beach, FL (143)

We stayed for one night in late October 2014 on our way south. It's a pleasant facility, safe, and well staffed. No restaurant on site, but perfect otherwise.

Beautiful Location!!, 2014-11-13
Captain: , Amelia Island (20)

Clean, Friendly and Quiet. Hidden Gem!

A Gem of a Stop, 2014-10-29
Captain: , Cape Haze, Fl (140)

Hidden away just like it's name this marina is our new Georgia favorite. We don't stay at a lot of marinas but when we do we try and make it "worth it". Hidden Harbor is definitely that! From it's easy entry face dock to the beautiful peaceful surroundings, to it's outstanding Clubhouse we were amazed at what Hidden Harbor offers. BUT, the true heart of the marina is it's wonderful staff. Bobbie and Alan were simply the best. "You need a ride to the grocery store, you got it"! They treated us like welcomed friends and that in a nutshell is what makes it worth the stop to us. We wish we could have stayed longer it is just that kind of place!

Friendliest marina, 2014-10-16
Captain: , Fleming Island, FL (20)

Stopped for one nite. Dock masters Bobbie & Alan are helpful, friendly & entertaining. Quiet protected marina. Nicest captains lounge we've seen. Will definitely return.

Wonderful stop, 2014-09-02
Captain: , Newport (131)

Great place to stop going North or South. Like anchoring out but with a the first class facilities of the well kept marina. Quiet with terrific views.
Bobbie is very knowledgable and accommodating. Nice place for a day or for a longer stay.

Paradise Found, 2014-08-07
Captain: , Honolulu, HI (71)

While heading to Brunswick I gave HHYC a call ahead to see if they could accomodate my trimaran. Bobbie was extreemly accomodating and met me to grab my lines since I solo sail. The docks are brand spanking new floating with concrete pilings. The club house is super clean with a hugh outdoor covered deck for entertaining.

Bobbie (mgr) even extended an invitation to come on in and watch Maiden Voyage on the TV. That was above and beyond and great fun.

I draw 5 feet and am 30 wide and the approach is straight forward and deep enough for me. If your doing the ICW, make this a stop over.

Hidden Gem, 2014-08-04
Captain: , Jacksonville Fl (1459)

While tooling around Ga and getting to know our new boat we discovered this place. You couldn't ask for a cleaner, friendlier, quiet harbor to hang for a couple ( or three with the freebie ) days. Very easy deep access right off the ICW and Bobbie the dockmaster will go out of her way to make you feel at home. We will be back.

Back to GA Again, 2014-07-03
Captain: , Boca Raton FL (10)

We looked around the area north of Florida for a marina to keep our trawler for the hurricane season and came upon Hidden Harbor four years ago, and have been back every summer since. The dock is substantial, well protected from wave action, with many tall concrete pilings. The facilities are clean and well maintained. The dock managers, as well as the owners, are very helpful and make you feel right at home. The setting overlooking the marshland is beautiful, and the wildlife (herons, egrets, otters, turtles, jumping fish, and the occasional alligator) is always interesting. Just a great place to stay anytime.

A Wonderful Stop, 2014-07-02
Captain: , Signal Mountain, TN (10)

What's not to like about Hidden Harbor? Just off the ICW, easy approach, good depth, well-protected and an amazing tranquil beauty. Bobbie, the manager, was exceptionally helpful and just downright pleasant . . . from assistance tying up to a ride into town for shopping, she was anticipating everything we needed. The facilities are immaculate and the setting is gorgeous. We'll certainly be repeat customers.

Thank you Bobby for setting up the free transportation to Pam's restaurant....great food and a unique atmosphere.
Hidden Harbor is a Gem of a marina. the docks are new, the Yacht Club room is totally accessible, with brand new furniture, a huge wooden table with 8 very comfortable chairs...perfect for planning the next leg of your trip....Very clean restrooms, and a unique shower!!!
we would definitely return to Hidden Harbor, and we recommand it.

Captain: , Beaufort, S.C. (570)

This is a restful and quiet marina. Face docks are well maintained with beautiful low country views and no fast boats to wake you.

Great One Night Stop, 2014-05-10
Captain: , North Myrtle Beach, SC (115)

We were recommended to stay at this marina by some friends we just met. Bobbie the dockmaster is a hoot, helpful and friendly. She offered to take us to the local Publix and helped us get away at 6:30 am the next morning. The face dock is an easy on and off. Facilities are new, docks are bullet proof and just a nice setting.

A Hidden Gem, 2014-05-04
Captain: , St. Louis (340)

Great stop to stage for Mud River. Just a short mile off of the ICW. Help in docking at a lay-along. As others have said Bobbie is super helpful and the clubhouse it fantastic. Everything is new, clean, and well kept. The view is terrific. We would have given it 5 stars if not for the very small washe/dryer.

Nice little marina. Very friendly staff, 2014-05-03
Captain: , Hollywood, MD (142)

Nice place to stop. Current can be wicked (over 3 kts) but it is parallel to face dock. Pam's Restaurant & Bar will come pick you up. Owner's husband picked us up and refused tip. Great little friendly bar with fantastic food.

A very pleasant experience, 2014-04-01
Captain: , New Jersey (10)

From guiding you in, to handling the lines ( in & out ) and everything in between, Bobbie and Alan are great hosts. Including Alan's electrical skills and Bobbies local knowledge, driving you for provisions they are the most attentive providers along the ICW.

As good as it gets, 2014-03-28
Captain: , Bayfield, WI and the ICW (1259)

The nicest clubhouse I have ever been in, clean as a whistle, perfect docks, and not a single boat has come by us here in a week. Only a mile off the ICW, and only people with their boats are here. It is quiet, safe and with competant and interesting management. We are leaving ours here for the winter.

Great Stop, 2014-02-02
Captain: , Southport, NC (120)

Hidden Harbor Yacht Club was a great stop. Bobbie and Alan were wonderful, and the stop provided everything, from a beautiful view of the Georgia grass marsh, boaters lounge, and a restaurant nearby. Bobbie was very helpful in making arrangements at the restaurant that evening. Truly a great stop.

Don't Stop Here!, 2014-02-01
Captain: , Murrells Inlet, SC (66)

If you want the usual mediocre marina experience, this place is NOT for you. On the other hand, if you want to be treated like the KING of the ICW that you know you are..............Trust me ( I sold cars for a iiving in a prior life) this place rocks! Bobbie and Alan are the best. All kidding aside, you HAVE to stop here to realize how utterly miserable most other marinas are and how really great the cruising experience can be at times.

A true gem!, 2014-01-27
Captain: , deltaville (40)

Arrived here after 60 miles of shoaling, winds and cold. Bobbie and Allan - new managers - welcomed us with open arms and got us docked, hooked up and settled in in no time. The boaters lounge is absolutely beautiful with TV, WIFI, small kitchenette and comfortable clean decor. When I asked about getting milk and few groceries Bobbie wisked us off to the local Publix to stock up. They also spent time to show us our routing for the next day and some tips about crossing St. Andrews Sound. They even do coffee and danish in the morning !! Definitely not a drive by.

Safe Haven, 2014-01-24
Captain: , Ruskin (10)

We bought a new sailboat that was located at Hidden Harbor and decided to keep it there because we fell in love with the peaceful, quiet surroundings. The Georgia Marshes provide a beautiful view from the cockpit. The marina is less than 10 minutes from the ICW with easy access and deep water. The clubhouse has a kitchen and laundry facilities with comfortable furnishings and TV. The managers, Alan and Bobbie, are always willing to help with anything. Hanging out in the Marina Office is a blast with great coffee, and the view from the upper deck is incredible! Last night we had a wonderful dinner of chicken parmesan prepared by Bobbie and Jan and served in the clubhouse for all of the boaters.

Overnight or long term, this marina is a great place to stop!

New Boat owner,, 2014-01-20
Captain: , colorado springs (10)

I am a new trawler owner and while shopping around for long term dockage I spoke to the folks at Hidden Harbor. They were very gracious and actually care about me and my boat. Alan came out and spent the afternoon helping me move my boat in and Bobbie made a great dinner and made me feel welcome. I have had a blast so far and look forward to 2014 at Hidden Harbor! Ps: The clubhouse is awesome! Clean bathrooms and a little kitchen area to make snacks while you watch tv and do your laundry the best deal in the area!!!!!!!! I did get to watch in the nice club house the Bronco's win and going to the Superbowl

Moonrise Over The Marsh!, 2014-01-20
Captain: , Savannah, Ga (10)

A group of us just purchased our trawlers and one of our first outings was to Hidden Harbor. We travel in a group of 3 boats and Hidden Harbor was perfect since we were able to use the clubhouse for our dinners every night.

Alan and Bobbie were the best hosts and everything we needed for a successful three night stay was provided with good cheer. Grilling on the deck while watching the moon rise was amazing!

Our boat club will be back to HH soon!

Short run from ICW- easy to find. Significant current in the creek. Got eaten by no-see-ums. Location is off US17- not convenient for bikes. No shopping, groceries. One resturant will poick you up.

All the superlatives have been used in previous reviews, so we would like Active Captain to add one more, just for this marina. On arriving at our dock we felt instantly at home, with warm hospitality, top notch docks and clubhouse, excellent grounds nestled in a peaceful natural setting

When enterning creek, stay heavy on red side, markers to not exist but stay close to bank. One hour before low tide and 6 plus under boat, few shallower spots in farther but not a problem.

Current runs quickly on face dock so be careful when docking, not a big deal but you need to be aware of current.

Stayed for 4 days before Thanksgiving 2013 because of weather. Price is $1.50 foot plus $10 for 30 AMP Electrical Cord. Docks and facilities are in excellent condition and lots of help docking and getting off dock.

PAM's #1 Restaurant (easy 10 minute walk in safe neighborhood) will pick you up and drop you off. Bob and Pam are owners and food is moderately priced and good. If you are a police officer you want to go to this bar/restaurant. Looks like every police force in US and many foreign countries have left their badges here.

Marina has very nice club house for boaters to use, always clean and neat.

Convenient place to stop if looking for quick access to ICW.

Grocery store available if you have bicycle but area is not bicycle friendly so you need to be careful.

Almost Perfect, 2013-11-23

I join in the lavish praise of setting, staff welcome and helpfulness, quality of facility, and so on. One problem, though. The shower is entirely sub-standard. I could live with its rustic nature, even its questionable privacy. But a one or two minute limit on the hot water??? That's hard to accept, when half the reason I ever go into a marina is for a hot shower. Other than that, totally 5 star plus.

Kev and Judith are Great!, 2013-11-14

Stopped here on our way south for two days due to the weather. Sure to stop back on our way north for the company and facilities. I needed to change my oil and Kev lent me an electric pump and his car to get more oil. We are so glad we stayed here instead of anchoring,

Almost like a Bed & Breakfast!, 2013-11-06

Hidden Harbor Marina is a hidden gem you can't see until you are headed down Troup Creek. The facilities are very attractive, plush, and well-appointed. Obviously, a great deal of thought and care went into designing the common areas. And the sunsets and sunrises are spectacular there.

Very well protected location and excellent hardwood floating docks. Very friendly and comfortable place to spend a few days.

Hidden Gem, 2013-11-04
Captain: , Austin, Texas (1774)

On our many trips through the Brunswick area, we have stayed at all the other marinas, so we can fairly compare. This is a great marina just minutes off the ICW. We came in at dead low tide and had 6+ feet at the entrance of Troup Creek. The docks are in excellent shape, and the clubhouse is new and spotless. Their bathrooms are as clean and nice as yours at home, maybe better. The manager Kev handled our lines, was very helpful, and offered us the courtesy car. Their Wi-Fi is strong at the dock, and so is the AT&T signal. Brunswick is just minutes away in the courtesy car for just about anything you need. It is very peaceful at this marina, which we like. I'm just sorry it took us 4 visits to Brunswick to find this place. Do not miss it.

Great place, great staff, 2013-08-06
Captain: , Venice (208)

This was our second stop here; we stayed earlier this year going North.
I had to stay 3+ weeks due to a medical issue and the help, hospitality and graciousness of Kev and Judith was wonderful. I understand the shower has been completed. We'll stop again going South

Great stop - we came twice, 2013-07-02

We were here in May and somehow I forgot to write a review. It was a positive experience at that time. Then we stopped back again Jul 2, 2013. As we were tying up, the dock master's wife asked us if we wanted anything from the grocery store. Now THAT is customer service ! Nice floating docks, they have a courtesy car, laundry, WiFi, and really nice people who run the place. Only 5 minutes off the ICW. We liked it so much we came back.

I'll stay again, 2013-06-28

We spent 3 months here last summer. Easy in and out but the current is swift. I stopped by last week on a road trip and Kev is building an enclosure for the outside shower. Nice clubhouse with free ice!

Outstanding stop, 2013-05-27
Captain: , Gulfport, MS (321)

Decided to stay here after reading previous reviews, all of which are very accurate. Kev and Judith go out of their way to make you feel at home; the use of their vehicle was a bonus! Entry up the creek was non-eventful, just pay attention to the entrance. We came in from the south, trying to stay just to the left of mid-channel to avoid the underwater extension of the charted point on the right ascending bank. We kept all crab pots to starboard. We like out of the way quiet places, so would definitely make a return trip here.

A Terriffic Waterway Stop, 2013-05-13
Captain: , Vero Beach, FL (842)

In the Atlantic ICW 2012 edition of the Dozier's Waterway Guide, the phone number listed for Hidden Harbor Yacht Club has an incorrect area code. They list 918, should be 912.
Looks as if transient dockage is generally on the face dock, very easy and convenient. Passage up unbuoyed Troup Creek is guided by the crab pot floats along the channel edge. Shoaling from the north side of creek entry is somewhat visible. Marina facilities include a clubhouse with bathrooms, laundry, spacious deck overlooking miles of marsh toward St Simons Island. Everything is very clean, looking near new. Wifi is fast in the clubhouse, signal on the dock a bit less so. Showers are reportedly in the works, but not done as of mid-May, 2013. The marina's setting and scenery couldn't be more peaceful. Kev, the manager, is very ready to help however he can. The courtesy car is his personal car, and is usually available.
When the showers are done, this will be one of the best options available to cruisers wanting a quiet stop in this area. We'll be back.

Excellent Stop, 2013-05-05

Date: 26 April 2013
Captain: Carl and Nancy Crawford
Vessel: Adagio - 41' Defever, 4' draft

We stayed overnight here both on our Southbound and Northbound trips. Kev and Judith manage the marina, which is dockage at a townhome/condo complex nestled in a quiet spot off the ICW. The facilities are new with a wonderful captain's lounge, bathrooms (showers coming May 2013) and laundry - all kept extremely clean. The courtsey car is the owner's personal car (a kool mini-cooper convertible) and they are more than happy to loan it out for any errands that you need to run.

Kev and Judith have a vast amount of boating experience. They are well versed in the area and are helpful in every way possible. We needed some documents scanned and printed so that we could forward them to the IRS. They, without hesitation, said you can use our equipment. (And this happened well into their dinner hour).

Judith is a fabulous artist making custom jewelry pieces from sea glass and shells that she has personally collected over time.

Note: The entrance can be tricky especially at low tide. Contact Kev for local knowledge prior to navigating this entrance.

Great Stop, 2013-04-27
Captain: , Wilmington, NC (390)

Stayed overnight on 26 April 2013. The entrance is very tricky at low tide so call Kev and he will let you know how to enter the river. Kev and Judith are very welcoming. Kev helped troubleshoot what turned out to be a loose belt on the port engine. We borrowed the loaner car for a provisioning run. They have an excellent pump out system. This will be on our list of stops from now on.

Quiet Alternative to Brunswick, 2013-04-19
Captain: , Hollywood, MD (271)

This marina provides a great alternative to Brunswick and St Simons. Kevin and Judith couldn't do enough for us and certainly made us feel at home. This location, north of Brunswick, lets us get to Savannah in a regular cruising day instead of the usual ten hours. It is easy to get to and deep water all the way in including, 25 feet at the dock. There is a very nice captain's lounge, restrooms, and washer/dryer. No showers, but that's about the only drawback. We'll stop in again on our next trip.

Nice Hidden Gem, 2013-04-11
Captain: , Westport CT (311)

This is a great stop if you like nature and quiet. Kev and Judith are great, always looking to help you. Loaner car for reprovisioning, laundry for a buck donation, pumpout (no fuel), nice boater's lounge, clean bathrooms (showers are supposed to come in the near future). Kev was extremely helpful finding me someone to work on a head problem. (Wayne Horne, who was also excellent). Just off the ICW, so no wake issues. I will come back

Wot a stop!, 2013-04-09
Captain: , New Zealand (1087)

A little hidded gem. Just off the ICW with plenty of water on approach and more alongside. Kev and Judith couldn't be more helpful with local knowledge and the facilities are the cleanest we have seen since Lake Michigan. But wait...there's more! The courtesy car is a Mini Cooper S convertible and excellent shopping is close by. Very reasonable rates and a must for Loopers to visit.

Troup Creek:Cute place, but no fuel!, 2012-12-06
Captain: , Wickford, RI (386)

Went in looking for fuel, but no luck. The approach is easy and does not seem to be even the mile quoted off the ICW.
Also listed as Troup Creek Marina in some of the crusing guides..

Great place to stop., 2012-10-28
Captain: , florida (230)

Note- I didn't stop there with my own boat, but interviewed there for Joe's dockmaster position.

Hidden Harbor is just a short hop off the ICW. The docks are fairly new and in excellent shape. There is a clubhouse with a small kitchen, laundry, and showers. The deck overlooking the marsh is awesome. There's a little current between slack tides, but nothing more than just about anyplace else on this part of the ICW.

I didn't get the job, so that means that Joe's replacement must be pretty awesome. ;)

Leaving HHYC, going to become a Cruiser AGAIN..., 2012-10-21

Hidden Harbor Mgr Joe and Nell Tinsman (and new puppy "Charlie") wish to thank all of our customers, both long term & transient, fair winds and calm seas. We have determinded it's time to depart Hidden Harbor (10/31/12) and join all of you in the cruising circut The crew aboard M/V "Delta Queen" will be keeping an eye out for all of you as we head south (no destination yet).

Joe & Nel ROCK!, 2012-06-15
Captain: , St. Petersburg FL (187)

We stopped here on our way back to Florida. Very peaceful setting (just use bug spray after dark!) Joe & Nel couldn't have been better dock hosts. Joe is very knowledgeable of all things boats, and was very helpful. Considered leaving the boat here for a week while returned home for business, but we ended up pushing further south. Long term dockage was very reasonable.

Great little hideaway, 2012-06-02
Captain: , Freeport TX (143)

Great little stop! Joe & Nell Tinsman are the harbor masters, wonderful people, took us to the grocery story so we could stock up. The facility is new, the floating docks are first rate. Well protected, day room is first class. Only two transient spots available. Laundry and kitchen but no showers. Better call ahead.

Very nice surprise, 2012-05-15
Captain: , Cape Canaveral (1081)

This was a great stop and a real surprise. The creek is deep and marina easy to get to. Joe the dockmaster was very helpful and talked us into a tricky side tie in swift water between two boats. Great job. The clubhouse is new, clean, and very nice. Joe took me to town to pick up a couple things and couldn't have been nicer. We will stop here again on our way south.

Good Clean Fun, 2012-04-07
Captain: , Annapolis (30)

My wife and I arrived tired and needing to relax after a long day on the ICW. Joe caught our lines, was as good as any dock hand we have encourntered and did all he could to make us comfortable. I have never seen a club house like this one available to transients. Spotless, new, comfortable, a kitchen and something for breakfast as well. Get your gas and deisel somewhere else and stay here.

Great Marina! inexpensive good dockage, open to public, 2012-03-04
Captain: , Key Largo (5304)

1 mile of the icw, Floating new docks, 50 and 30 amp, city water, Good WiFi, new nice club house, laudry machine (one)
Very friendly dockmaster, remote but well worth it. Not near shopping however the dockmaster did offer a ride to town.
Nice fee breakfast in the club house. Enterprise here.

Nice find..., 2012-01-08
Captain: , Maine (73)

After a hard day on the ICW we decided to pull in early and found this little gem of a marina. We were greeted on the dock by Joe and Nel and others of the dock community. We have not met a nicer group of people on this whole run of the east coast. We will be back.

Thanksgiving away from home, 2011-11-24
Captain: , Chelsea, NY12512 (481)

It just so happened that we arrived here the Wednesday afternoon before Thanksgiving. The friendly and helpful dock master, Joe, invited us to join him, his wife, family, and fellow sailors for a potluck Thanksgiving dinner. It was an offer to good to refuse and we were glad we didn't. His wife even took my wife shopping so we could bring a dish to share.

Great place off the ICW, 2011-08-11
Captain: , Palmetto Fl (545)

About 1.5 miles off the ICW. Joe, the resident dockmaster, is awesome. Met us at the dock, got us a hose clamp in a hurry when we needed one, offered to take us to town if we needed it, provided us with a continental breakfast in the morning before we left, and came down to the dock to see us off. He did everything he could to make us feel comfortable. There are no showers, but there is one washing machine and dryer and the bathrooms are better than I have at home. The boater's lounge is beautiful and very comfortable. One thing to be aware of is that they don't take credit cards....just cash or checks. Electric is $15, a little over the top. It would get 5 stars if it had showers, the ability to use charge cards, and a more reasonable price for electric.

Hidden Harbor Worth it, 2011-06-25
Captain: , Dataw Island, SC (290)

Excellent facility - not a lot of amenities but makes up for it in service and neat location - easy access off ICW and not your typical marina. When was the last time a dockmaster coiled your lines after helping you dock?

nice place, 2011-04-13
Captain: , Saint simons Island, ga. (10)

great marina;;new docks; deep water ;very private with great views of the golden isles; knowledgeable dock master who is able to do emergency repairs and fuel polishing

Definately Private, 2011-02-24
Captain: , St. Simons Ilsland, GA (547)

I've been curious about Hidden Harbor so the 1st Mate & I checked it out by land route. The docks are excellent and it appears to have deep water access even at low tide.

Since the facilty is private there's no need to waste time visiting by water. I think it's only practicle purpose for the general marine community is that it would serve as a safe haven in an emergency - medical or otherwise.
