Reviews for Heron Lake Marina/New Mexico Sailing Club
No frills marina at Heron Lake, New Mexico, USA in quiet natural setting, 2013-05-27
Captain: , Mesa, Arizona (113)

Heron Lake Marina, owned by the New Mexico Sailing Club, has 102 slips 24-27' long, along with limited mooring buoys and end ties. Seasonally open mid-April through mid-October, limited facilities. *** NOTE, 26 May 2013: Due to low water levels, marina is closed for the 2013 season. *** Slips $10 night or longer term, reciprocal hospitality offered. Monitors ch. 16. Primitive/wildnerness setting on 6000 surface acre deepwater lake; motorboats restricted to trolling/no-wake speed. No electricity or plumbing at marina except for solar-powered VHF and lights. Floating shelter area with picnic tables & gas grills. Nearby concrete boat ramp, developed & primitive camping in state park, 1.5 miles to store, 6 miles to fuel, hardware, cabins, & restaurant, 17 miles to full services. Lake is known for cold-water fishery (Kokanee salmon & lake trout). Web site, www.nmsailing.org. Submitted by Pat Byrnes, NMSC secretary 2013, r g s c pat (at) gee m a i l (dot) com
