Reviews for Hazzard Marine
Stopping again, 2016-11-18
Captain: , Carolina Beach, NC (378)

Been stoppping here off and on for 15 years. Nice floating docks, fuel on transient docks, great bathrooms/showers, friendly staff. Short walk to downtown/waterfront. Dockage includes electric, water, cable tv, and wifi. Ref previous review, wifi now works good. As with other docks in Georgetown, tidal current can make docking/leaving interesting.

Good Marina, 2016-11-05
Captain: , Charleston SC (120)

Tied to the fueldock. Staff was helpful. Town is about a 5 block walk. All was clean. Pump out was broken due to Mathew

Good for the price, 2016-07-11
Captain: , Rockport, ON, Canada (265)

Easy docking, good power, lousy internet(basicaly none) but I think there's a fault to be fixed somewhere. Facilities basic but clean. Bit of a hike in the heat for the downtown. Good value.

Very nice town to visit, 2016-04-18
Captain: , Chicago, Racine, Fish Creek,Wi (2010)

April 14,15 2016 visit. Strong winds from NE and we were very sheltered and comfortable. Good help from staff with docking and questions. Washrooms clean but older cinder block construction. Docks in very good condition and easy docking if your on face dock. Nice captains lounge with Cable TV. Cable TV on the docks with good selection of channels. Short couple of blocks walk to downtown. If you need work done on your boat I have been told that they do good work and reasonable prices.

Small, friendly and helpful., 2015-08-05
Captain: , Austin, Texas (140)

Stayed here back in 2011 and loved it. This time - late July, 2015 - found the lounge and showers a little worn down, but still nice enough. The staff was still super helpful and friendly, making all the difference for us. We'll go back again.

Wonderful Historic town and good value, 2015-05-27
Captain: , Midway,GA (261)

Planed on a two night stay ended up staying four nights. We were met at the dock by the marina staff to help with tie up.Face docks, easy in and out in a no wake zone.We needed a 50 amp connector and did not have one so the marina loaned us one for our stay. Nice shady, short walk to town with resturants ,stores, and museums.
Susan the dockmaster is very knowledgeable and a pleasure to talk to. Very nice docks (floating concrete) showers and restrooms were clean.
Called Enterprise for a rental car tried for about an hour and a half , no one answered the phone. Called Hertz and they picked us up at the marina within 10 min. Call Charlotte at Hertz and she will take good care of you, 843-520-1535. Yes I will stop here again , very pleasureable stay.

Two good days at Hazzard Marine, 2015-03-19
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (636)

(our bias: we like working marinas) The staff -- Susan -- is VERY helpful and attentive. The docks are clean and orderly. They have self-service fueling capability, if you need it. Nice 'Captain's Lounge' if you want to get off the boat. Restroom/showers a bit dated but very clean. And, you can not beat the dockage reates. Very pleasant walk to town. Recommend the River Room restaurant highly.

Stayed 2 days mid March on return north. Another solid experience. Attentive docking. Great staff. Facilities while not posh certainly meet your needs. Strong recommendation!

annual haul out, 2015-03-14
Captain: , Supply, North Carolina (20)

I have owned boats that require haul out and maintenance for over 30 years. I have never been more pleases than with the staff at hazzard marine. The honesty of this marina is above approach

Hazard Marine to the rescue !!!, 2014-11-24
Captain: , Virginia Beach (52)

On Nov 14th, 2014 I arrived at Georgetown, SC and pulled up to Harbourwalk Marina. I didn,t call ahead because the boat ahead of me already did And the dock hands were already on the pier. I sail singlehandedly and I was preparing my boat's dock lines and fenders to pull into the marina. I went back to the helm to bring the boat about when the helm froze up, the wind was about 15 MPH and current at approximately 2 knts. By shifting the engine from forward to reverse and adjusting the RPMs I was able to inch my way tward the dock. When the Harborwwalk dockworker ran over and said that the marina was full and I could not land my boat. I explanded that my steering had frozen up and I needed to tie up my boat to check it out. Still he refused to let me approach. I was trapped by the marina on one side and morred boats behind me. I could not leave the helm to check out the problem. Again by going fwd and rev I managed to get to an another dock where no boats were tied up. As I approached this fuel dock the dock hand ran back to land over to the other pier which turened out to be the fuel pier of this marina. He again said that I could not land my boat. That he was full up and the boats were approaching. He called BoatUS and they were approaching my starboard side. While we were trying to hook together my boat almost rammed their pier while the BoatUS Captain took fast and deciseive action to pull away from the pier while myself and the BoatUS deck hand were still tying the boats together. They towed me to to Hazard Marine and even though they were also full they took me in and tied me up at their fuel dock. After securing my boat, without me asking they sent a mechanic from Hazard Marine and hequickly my rescue and analized the problem. He resolved the problem in mere seconds. Part of my love of sailing is enjoying the people I meet and they are almost always ready to help a disabled boater. Most times you don't need to be disabled. Just talking about your issues and someone will be in there pulling your boat apart in seconds. Summing up I think the dockhands at Harborview Marine give boating courtesy a bad name. Shame on them. Harard Marine way to go.

Great value!, 2013-04-29
Captain: , Hartfield (281)

I would give this 5plus stars for attitude and helpful ness but the facilities while very clean and nice are not posh, as some marinas have been. Wifi didn't reach to the boat. But wonderful, friendly staff and good price. Easy on and off face dock for transients.

Fantastic Assistance, 2012-12-29
Captain: , Poole, Dorset, UK (40)

We needed a hallout to see if any damage had been sustained during a grounding in Beaufort. (see Beaufort channel hazard marker) Despite the yard being closed for Christmas, Reed assembled a crew from their hollidays and lifted us out at short notice, After our wounds were revealed to be nothing worse than a loss of antifoul we were poped back in the water and given a safe slip for the night. No extra hidden costs or overtime and all this in bad weather too. I can't speek highly enough of the dedication of Reed Tiller and his staff. The facilities are great, private bathrooms, lounge left open for us over Christmas, Laundry. and in a nice town. Highly recommended.

Strange place, 2012-11-16
Captain: , Roseville MN (398)

helpful staff, marginal rest rooms. easy walk into town. they tried to charge me $10 for a shower, and we had paid for the daily transient dockage! just as easy to anchor out; we did for the second night.

Needed Repairs, 2012-11-11
Captain: , Northport, Maine (80)

Had a disabled transmission on our trawler that needed attention. At one point we had three men working on the problem, including Reed the owner, trying to remove the transmission for repair. Finally needed someone else's opinion and then came Jim Johnson who got the transmission free from the housing. Jim then took the transmission to his shop for repair.

We were there for three days on the docks but Jim got the problem fixed and then delivered it back to the yard and I worked with Jasper to get the transmission back in. Jim came later to make sure all was aligned and we were ready to go except for the bill!! We were pleasantly surprised how fair the yard and Mr. Johnson were in correcting our problem. I think my repairs could have been doubled in expense elsewhere. They even gave us a break on dockage fees even though the marina was full to capacity. I would recommend them to other cruisers who need a great place to stay or repair work.

Great manager, 2012-11-07
Captain: , St. James, NC (253)

Susan is a great manager and goes out of her way to help welcome you. Very nice and clean facilities. The full time boaters add to the friendly welcome. We will definitely stay here again.

Very Nice Marina, 2012-10-18
Captain: , Southport, NC (706)

Hazzard is the first marina on the way into the downtown area. The dock hand was extremely nice and courtious. Clean restroom and deck area with rocking chairs to relax. Also a nice Captains lounge for chillin out. The marina staff wanted us to feel welcome and helped us out in every way. The only snag was limited internet coverage. You need to go to the capt's lounge or deck area for a signal. I'm sure they will fix it soon. Next time we come to Georgetown we will stay here for sure.

Clean, quiet, stop., 2012-10-14
Captain: , Jacksonville Fl (1520)

Just around the corner from downtown. Clean and quiet without the stumbling and bumbling of those with too much happy hour. Great place, good facilities and well kept. Not a lot of space available so suggest a reseveration. You will be back, we are,

Not much to add...., 2012-07-20
Captain: , Charleston, SC (422)

Just off the ICW, staff waiting to help, restaurants nearby...no grocery store within walking distance but staff did offer to take us. Seafood market next door...great historic little town!

Need more like this!, 2012-06-01
Captain: , Muskegon, MI (738)

Came in today with a little concern about dock staff. No need to worry, dock help was very knowledgable and accommodating. As others have said, the Marina is well taken care of and always helpful. The town is also well taken care of, historic, and very boater friendly. Restaurants abound. It was obvious from conversation on the dock that the two reviews indicating inexperienced dock crews happened because a new dock hand was experiencing their first trip to the docks, unaccompanied. Everyone has to "go it alone" for the first time sometime. I sure did not see any sign of that problem today! We will stop here every time we pass through.

Shrimp stop, 2012-05-28
Captain: , Grand Haven (470)

This marina is adjacent to a fresh fish market. We picked up three pounds of shrimp and boiled them up that night. With four people we had all we could do to finish them. The restrooms were clean and the deck hands very nice. Floating dock was in great shape. The walk into town was about one mile with a number of small shops

Here before and will be back, 2012-05-23
Captain: , Cape Canaveral (1101)

We came in a year ago with a minor engine problem that Hazzard quickly fixed. Great floating docks, though inexpierenced dock hand. Nevertheless, this is a good stop with clean facilities and a nice, sleepy and comfortable town nearby.

Excellent Georgetown stopover, 2012-05-09
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (639)

Nice floating docks with fuel and pumpout at your side-tie floating dock. Quaint town with good restaurants. Easy ICW in and out. Dockstaff was a bit inexperienced - maybe training a new person. Good clean shoreside rest room and shower.

Nice Place To Stay, 2012-05-07
Captain: , Winthrop, MA (896)

We spent 3 days here. Met some very nice people. Staff is very courteouos and helpful. Cruisers were very friendly and helpful. Lots of stories. Easy walk to town with lots of stores and restaurants. Will definetly come back here next time.

Easy marina to get in and out of, 2012-01-19
Captain: , Apponaug, Rhode Island (274)

We had a minor engine problem when we arrived at Hazzard Marine. The staff and people at the marina went way above and beyond to help us get parts and one person even gave us his car for most of the day. The kindness that we were shown made me feel like we were transported back in time when American's treated each other with respect. The marina was clean and the staff even stayed late to help us. The story has a happy ending, we fixed the engine , went to walmart and restocked the boat and made new friends. I will always stop and recommend Hazzard Marina.

Easy Access, 2012-01-16
Captain: , Solomons, MD (464)

Stayed here the night of 12-13-2011. Easy access in and out. Stayed on fuel/face dock. Tall floating dock with wood face, don't forget to have your fenders out when you approach. Nice clean facility, helpful staff, easy walk to town. Georgetown has nice waterfront with several bars and restaurants.

Friendly and carring, 2011-12-23
Captain: , Quebec, Canada (268)

Stay here for two days. Helpfull and friendly person. Very nice lounge and clean facilities. Do not forget to ask the lounge to be open after hour as it is usualy lock at night. Walk in town to visit and found good local restaurants and friendly people.
Will come back again and recommand it.

Great Marina and great service, 2011-08-11
Captain: , Dataw Island, SC (290)

Stayed here on convenient face dock for 2 nights as I thought we had a muffer problem. Sam, Boatyard Manager, looked at the problem right away which turned out not to be a problem. Very friendly staff and very convenient to town. Showers and Captain's lounge nice. Would definitely stay here again.

Great little place, 2011-08-02
Captain: , Palmetto Fl (545)

Great place, but small. Stayed 2 nights to check out the town. Short walk to town for restaurants, bars, and shops. Clean bathrooms, great boater's lounge and outside covered deck. Dockhands are very capable, friendly, and helpful. Wi-fi is a little weak after the last storm even in the boater's lounge. New floating docks.

Good place to stay., 2011-07-04
Captain: , Gloucester, VA (514)

AS stated by others, staff is friendly and location is central to town. Bathrooms and showers were very clean and AIR CONDITIONED! We walked to town and had a great meal at The River Room. Very little wait (it was the week end) and food was great. Quaint town and we wish we had more time just to sight see.

Great Stop Over, 2011-06-28
Captain: , Halifax, NS (400)

We put in for one night on the way up the ICW. Staff were friendly and helpful. Walking distance to dinner and some shopping.

Captain: , Detroit, MI (160)

The marina is convenient, clean, modern, and the staff is great too. Loved Georgetown and it is a very short walk from the marina.

we stop here every trip!, 2010-12-09
Captain: , Wilmington Deleware (330)

We love this marina and stop here every trip. The staff is so very friendly and the marina clean. It is a great stop for laundry and to buy goodies to stock the galley. We always pull out our bicycles and make a run to the Kudzu Bakery. There are many great restaurants, try The Rice Paddy and The River Room.

Watch the Dock, 2010-11-10
Captain: , Oriental, NC (136)

Great service but dock is unforgiving if you tap it....concrete with 2x8 edging, no rub strip. Have your fenders down!!

Excellent Stop, 2010-10-31
Captain: , Point Marina, Whortonsville, NC (506)

We were towed in here by BoatUS after hours for an engine problem. Checked in next morning and staff was very friendly and helpful. The found a diesel mechanic for me and he was there within the hour. Problem turned out to be minor, but I needed a new starting battery. Mechanic drove me to nearby NAPA store to buy one and we were back on our way the same day.
Very clean and well kept marina with new floating docks. Great dayroom area and clean heads and showers.

Top Class Marina and Yard., 2010-10-30
Captain: , Gulf Breeze, Fl (6909)

Easy in and out with top of the line facilities and a great helpful staff.
4 blocks to downtown so still accessible to the main street attractions. I will stay here from now on.

Good marina, 2010-10-02
Captain: , Ft. Lauderdale (1134)

We were scheduled to arrive after closing. They gave us a phone number to call and promised someone would be on the dock to meet us. True to their word a knowledgable dock hand met us handled lines and the paper work. Good floating docks, good power and water pressue. Georgetown is a nice place to visit with some shops, etc within walking distance.

Great boatyard for service along the way, 2010-05-15
Captain: , Clearwater, FL (150)

We had our boat hauled for servicing of a leaky rudder stock and to have the complete boat buffed and waxed. Boat is a 1986 KK Manatee. Handled the rudder stock problem nicely and did a fantastic job on the gelcoat. Doesn't look like new, but pretty darn close. Did little sections at a time and buffed and buffed until it shined. $10 ft. for hull and normally $10 ft. for top, but we have a lot of surface area above the hull so it was $15 ft. Very pleased. Staff is extremely friendly and boatyard / marina is well kept.
