Great stop, 2016-10-20
Captain: , ottawa (1002)

Stayed night here in Sept 2016. Some amenities are within walking distnace but Walmart and the big box stores are a short taxi ride away (cost me about $7).

Great stop on free wall and close to the town, but no facilities, 2016-08-30
Captain: , Moyock, NC (984)

2016 Aug 23 With our 40' trawler we also saw no less than 7 ft water depth coming into the floating dock. Being later in the season, we were the only boat tied up here. There's a small museum and it is 1-3 blocks over the bridge into town, with a Tim Horten's (free Wi-Fi), Subway Sandwich Shop, and a really nicely decorated and laid-out local Dunn's (outside/inside dining, and sports bar) resturant, with maybe the best atmosphere, food, and best price in town. They are open early for breakfast. Also, on the way back to the free wall, a block before the bridge. is a wonderful fresh market, with great vegetables, fruits, and other items reasonably priced.

Nice stop, easy, no problems, 2016-07-12

We stopped here for the night between St. Anne de Bellevue and Ottawa.

We did not use the shore facilities. This is just a wall. Easy to tie to with cleats and pipe along the top. This site does not have power, water or wifi available.

Boaters not welcome here!, 2015-07-12

June 29, 2015 -
Docked at the municipal dock in Hawkesbury. The %u201CVisitors Center%u201D is actually their Cultural Center. The attendant was not welcoming and when we asked if it was permissible to tie up there for the night, we were handed a letter in both French and English from the Corporation of the Town of Hawkesbury, 600 rue Higginson Street, Hawkesbury, ON K6A 1H1 which said, quote %u201CThis park is not a municipal campground. However, it is permitted to stay overnight in a trailer or recreational vehicle (tent prohibited) between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m. the next day and this one night only. We will keep a log book of people who have spent one night in the 2015 spring and summer and a $150 fine per infraction could be charged to anyone who is found at fault. You collaboration is appreciated.%u201D
No mention of boats but the attendant made it clear that they also would be subject to the same rules. There was also a sign saying the same thing on a post near the boat dock. When we asked about facilities, we were told that if we had no toilette on our boat, we could walk down the road and under the bridge and use the portapotty at the park there. Next to his office was a sign indicating that restrooms were in the next room but he didn%u2019t indicate that they could be used by boaters. The cultural Center has a small museum of local families and has many tables and bar stools set up in the main room. When we asked, we were given the wifi code, but it only worked inside the building and on the front porch. No information was available about local shops or restaurants.

We felt unwelcome and will not go back to Hawkesbury! I would rate it a "0" if I could.

protected free night, 2013-08-14

We spent a night here while traveling between St Anne and Montebello. Well marked channel with good depth. Great place to walk the dog. We met friends for dinner so can't comment on food or shopping but all are near.

Nice free dock, convenient location, 2013-08-11
Captain: , Dunedin, FL (6425)

Convenient dock, we stayed on concrete wall which was full. But there was also floating dock with no boats.
Small museum and art center, free wifi but we could not connect. Lots of room to walk your dog. Local information booth 9-5. Got very noisy early morning with highway traffic.

Hawkesbury Town Wall, 2013-07-28

Easy! Stayed here 25 July 2013. Great place to stop enroute from St Ann to Ottawa. No services, power outlets are gone.

Hawkesbury Town Wall, 2013-02-24
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (624)

NIce, free overnight tie up. No services, but there is one or two 20 amp plug ins. Short walk to mid-size town with everything needed. Blue collar and a little hard bitten town.

Wall is somewhat protected from main Ottawa River by adjacent island, but if the wnd is blowing, it may be a little rolly.

The price is right..

Still free but..., 2012-08-22
Captain: , Naples, FL (1096)

Plans are underway to charge for dockage. $1.50 per foot was quoted. We were told the dockage would be waived today as there are no services: no water, no electricity, no showers. Only two portable potties.

So for a free tie up with easy access to town, nice exhibition in visitor's center, grass for the dog, it was just fine.

Free Wall tie up with electric, 2012-06-27
Captain: , Cape Coral FL (4176)

FREE FREE FREE is my best price.
Even though the wall on the east side, the large Hamilton Island blocks strong NW winds pretty well. Slightly exposed to W wind. Short walk into town right over the bridge. Folks at the visitor center are very helpful and provided a map which they marked with the bank, bakery and grocery store we were seeking. Electric at the base of the light poles (20amp). Love the ability to run the dog and exercise her right here on the big lawn.

The juice is back on., 2012-06-17
Captain: , Jacksonville Fl (1459)

Excellent wall tie up, easy acess, not too high. there is a tourist info center there. They gave us the code for there wi-fi and said the 15 amp plugs at the base of the light poles was working. Restrooms across the street and a short walk into town with lots of restruarants and a liquor store not that far away.

Nice tieup - Some road noise, 2011-07-29
Captain: , Cleveland (2009)

The wall is in good repair and easy to approach and tie up. Depth was about 10 feet dockside. No longer any 15 amp power. Nice visitor center with restrooms and small sitting area if you want to use your computer in the center. Wireless is not strong enough to pick up from the dock. Number of restaurants across the bridge (15 minute walk). Still free!
