4-star only because it doesn't have some 5-star immenitities, 2015-08-29

July 29 %u2013 Aug 28 Havre de Grace City Yacht Basin
Located next to the City Park, where the August Seafood and Art & Music Festivals are held, the marina does not always have slips, or slips for extended stays. However, they do have a good monthly rate if you can find a slip open for that length of time. These are fixed docks and piers that actually work well with sturdy extended side ladders for adapting to wind changes to the upper Bay%u2019s 2-5%u2019 tide swings. The docks are maintained in good condition with adequate cleats and pilings, water, and electricity. The staff is helpful, courteous, and friendly. The other existing boaters show up mostly on the weekends, but everyone is friendly and nice. The marina facilities are adjacent to but separate of the public park. The marina toilets and showers are nice, with conditioned ventilation, and clean. The town Promenade begin at this marina with great little restaurant and outside umbrella covered tables, and the walkway leads around the water front to two museums, a light house, and on around toward another marina and the downtown area (10-12 blocks away). Enterprise rental car serves this area and there%u2019s a local taxi 410-939-0900 that will take 1-4 people almost anywhere in Havre de Grace for a $5 fee, plus you%u2019d want to add a tip. It%u2019s a great place to visit.

Very nice stay, 2014-08-18

The management is friendly, the access is easy for my 4' (should be OK to about 6'), the slip was VERY large (too big for my 34' boat, but we made do), the shower/restrooms were great, and the on-site food establishment (restaurant may be too fancy a word) looked to be very nice and reasonably priced.

There is a grocery store, two drug stores, and a West Marine a very nice 20 minute level walk away (sidewalks the entire trip). Management can give you a map and show you where it is.

Very nice town to visit.

home marina, 2012-11-08

Marina has been my home marina for 13 years. Great manger, slip neighbors, peirs. best value on the chesapeake bay.

Terrific marina but call about depth in the main channel, 2012-09-19
Captain: , Marietta GA (416)

Updated 19-Sep-2012 As noted the channel to the marina carries perhaps 4' at MLW. If you require more depth at the slip alert the marina as some T-heads are about 5" MLW.

I chatted with the crew of a Core of Engineers vessel who stated that they had placed the buoys in the alternate channel that hugs the west shoreline to the back of the marina. COE thought the marks would, "show up on charts, eventually".

Silt from the Sep-2011 flood reduced the recently dredged marina channel depth to perhaps 3' at high tide, per Steve the marina manager. The city is applying for emergency dredging funds but it is uncertain when the normal 6' depth might be restored.

There is a privately marked channel that is a back door to the marina. Having been scoured by the flood it is said to carry 8' amd the local sail boats are using it without problems.

Check with the marina about current status of both channels but don't let this deter you since the marina is affordable and friendly.

Good stop at municipal marina., 2012-07-06
Captain: , Longboat Key, FL (445)

We enjoyed a stop at havre de grace municipal. Air conditioned bathhouse, very clean. 10 blocks to town so bike is the easiest transport. Several well rated restaurants. Great homemade ice cream a few blocks away and a snack bar with sandwiches at the marina.

Shoal building again in entrance channel, slightly favor green side as you approach marina entrance, so come in with help of tide. I was in slip 109. At low tide les than four feet by dock, luckily silt. Dock master didn't answer radio so use cell phone. He admitted the radio was off.

Great Stop, 2012-05-16

Just wanted to update and let everyone know that the main entrance has been dredged again after the hurricaine in late 2011 mentioned by the previous poster. Depths have been restored. Worth a stop to check out the town. Nice promenade walk around the point to Concord Point Lighthouse.

Well worth a visit, 2011-02-13

This has been my home marina for the past 8 years. Good blend of value and amenities- this isn't a luxury marina but has the essentials onsite or nearby (except for a pool). Decent protection from weather because it's located between the mainland and Tydings Island. All fixed piers have been replaced within the past 6 years. Launch ramp is currently being renovated and should be more user-friendly. Dredging of the entire marina and entrance channel has just been completed.

creosote issue mitigated, 2010-08-20
Captain: , Gulf Breeze, Fl (6909)

The pilling have had a heavy v vinyl guard applied to the boat side of the pilings, so they are not the problem stated prior. Came in a dead low tide and saw 6' true depth at the tee head.

overnight at city dock, 2010-01-22
Captain: , Galena MD (171)

the pilings are covered with cresote so we pack old tee shirts for the fenders. It's a great location. Easy walk to town. The people are friendly and helpful. The bathrooms are clean. Can't beat the scenery. so.. cover your fenders and spend the night.

nice stay at monthly rate, 2009-05-16
Captain: , montreal (50)

new docks (effectively with creosote) at 9.- per month + metered electricity.
great location and friendly people

Disappointed, 2008-08-18
Captain: , Marathon, FL (1203)

Stayed here 8/16/08. While price wasn't bad at $1.00/ft, they get you for $20 for power. The pilings were thickly coated in creosote like old telephone poles, and ruined one of our fenders. Definitely won't come back here.
