Reviews for Hatteras Landing Marina
Very easy, well located, nicely supported facility, 2015-07-29
Captain: , Arlington, Virginia (30)

We vacationed nearby, and needed a transient slip for our 21' Whaler Conquest. The slip was well placed, easy to use, and the water and electrical were on, well-maintained. The location is ideal for using Pamlico Sound or Hatteras Inlet. The marina staff was friendly and had great advice about dealing with the very changeable channel conditions. Note: As of late July 2015, none of the five paper and electronic charts I consulted were even close to accurate for Hatteras Inlet and the nearby channels. We followed the charter fleet out early one morning and got the benefit of their expert knowledge, including navigating over sites shown as dry land on all the charts and past channel markers shown on no charts. Interesting.

great stop, 2012-08-26

Only place in Hattaras that could accomodate our 26 foot beam Cat. Called Billy on the cell phone and he came out and got us docked. No problems with ferry wakes AT ALL, contrary to other reviews. Easy walk to maritime museum, nice restaurants a little bit further walk - but worth it - yum!

It is a place to stop, but nothing really here, 2012-08-23
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (2870)

We decided to shorten our day in snotty weather from 11 hours to 8.5 by stopping at Hatteras on the way from Roanoke to Ocracoke. It is a decent place to tie up, but we couldn't see much to recommend stopping at Hatteras for a cruising boat.

The reason for 3 stars: no dock hands, no working VHF radio, laundry broken.

Billly was a big help!, 2012-07-11
Captain: , Dover DE (145)

Coming into the main channel into Hattaras we had questions about maker locations. Called Billy and he offered to come out in his skiff and lead us in. There is a second channel into this marina that has very low water. We followed Billy in and while we still had dept issues, we did get in. Stay to far right in this secondary channel as this is where the ferries go. Coming out, no problems. Billy helped us get on the dock after hours and then off again the next morning. Thanks.

Mostly Charter Boats but good location, 2010-07-20
Captain: , South River (118)

Stayed here July 4, 2010. They don't have a radio, call on cell phone. They don't have dock hands - it is mostly a working boat marina that has transient slips available occasionally. We were in slip 21 (big enough for a 40X14 boat, we are a 22X7.5 boat) so tying up was an adventure, but we were steps from bathrooms, restaurants, etc. Picnic tables, grills, grassy area for pets, a great sunset view - all available. Shopping and restaurants at your doorstep. Always something going on with all the charter boats here and with ferry passengers coming over. Bands play some evenings on the docks. Had no problem with wakes from ferries. Would probably be five stars if marina staff a little more helpful, but when we pulled in, only one was working at the desk.

Hatteras Landing Marina, 2010-06-08
Captain: , Wickford, RI (1637)

Very poor service, acted like not interested in business, radio doen't work, took repeated phone calls to try to get directions and even then they never showed up at the dock. Do NOT (repeat NOT) accept dock # 1 or # 2. They (and probably the other ones too) are affected by the wakes and wash from the Ocracoke-Hatteras ferries. At dock 1 & 2 the wakes will roll you against the tall pilings. Thankfully we discovered this w/o damage and before signing in.
After we left, we called them to say why we left and theysaid, ''maybe next time they could assign us a better slip". Yeah, right!!!, there won't be a next time for us.
