Reviews for Harrison's Chesapeake House
Great food, 2016-07-12

We ate here after biking over from Knapps Narrows Marina. The food, the service, and the view from the deck were all great. The deck and the grounds are also dog friendly.

A Place frozen in time, 2016-06-29

June 2016 - had all you can eat crabs and was great fresh cut french fries and food seemed to have improved

This is a fun place if you are looking for a LOW key hang out that takes you back to the 50's or 60's.
Often have local events at Bar so maybe wise to call ahead to avoid Biker day, Bikini Contest etc.
Food is average - menu is "old" but Bay "classical". Often has all you can eat crabs. Kinda fun to visit.
Stayed at hotel and rooms are clean - But not special - if picky request to see room before booking.
Pet friendly!
Lots of charter boats.

Amenities need work, 2015-06-04

We stayed here on 5/24/15. There wasn't a lot of water to get in here, about 6', and we draw 5.5. This is very much a locals and fisherman's marina. We were the only sailboat there, and someone said they don't get a lot. There is plumbing issues in the two bathrooms available to slip holders, cold, hard, water only in one, and no knob to turn on the shower in the other. And there were dead flies all over the bathroom. We had no electricity at the slip, either, we had to run an extension to another. Bud was very helpful though, and tried his best to be accommodating. We had dinner at the restaurant and I would give it about a 6 out of 10. We did have fresh rock fish, though. Just was overcooked and dry. Could not beat the view from the slip of the Bay!

Don't understand bad reviews, 2014-08-14

We have been there a half dozen times and the food has always been excellent and the service friendly and timely. This isn't a modern cookie cutter restrauant, rather and old family run business that takes you back in time. I think they have some of the best chicken and crab cakes on the bay and it is all served family style. Personally I would say don't pass it up, we go every year when we are in Tilghman.

I'd say a must stop..., 2014-08-04

Harrison's is a throwback. As for bad reviews, I first visited this summer ('14), and love the place. Here, if you want something or don't like something ask or complain, I'm pretty sure they'll make it right. The beef here (yes it's a seafood place) is spectacular. A friend got the filet with sauce and crabmeat topping and it was the best bite (he had to share it was so good) of steak I ever had. And I have had good steak...The crab is fresh, done on the newly redone Tiki Deck which is large and very nice. There is a large area between the main building and Tiki where the stage is set, and yes they have good bands.

The seafood buffet is heavy on fried food, but they also offer an all you can eat seafood for the same price which can be all non-fried.

With any meal sides are served "homestyle"; all you can eat fresh coleslaw, homemade mashed potatos and gravy, veggie like green beans or lima beans, and always the stewed tomatos.

The fried chicken here is very good, like a 9.5 of 10. Also, tho entrees can be in the $20-35 range, they have platters on the menu which are a great buy. $9.99 for a chopped steak that bursts with angus flavor. (I like the people. Would love to see them ressurect the place to it's glory days. But if you have to chopped steak and don't agree it's delicious and a great bargin I'll buy you dinner somewhere...)lol... The platters come with a serving (not all you can eat) of slaw, potato, veggie. Great deal. I have a good appetite and it fills me up.

As for approach; follow the marks. Look at the chart. Yesterday a 40 powerboat ran aground...with the green off to his port. Duhhhh. Harrisons docks are now new. They also run (it says on their menu) the largest private charter fishing fleet in America. They do catch fish. Boats always limit out. I've been here for weeks, and always the same story...happy anglers!

So I'd say check it out for yourself. And as a cruiser, there isn't a better spot than Tilghman for a rest. In the middle of everything. Within 30 miles of Kent, Annapolis, Chesapeake Beach, Solomons...

So come check out Harrisons, and review my review. As I said, I love the owners and love quiet Tilghman so I'm possibly a tad biased...but if you don't like something tell them Marc said they'd make it right!

OHHHH...also...Bud just put his Hobie together, so if you come visit and ask real nice he may let you sail it!

About my rating. Yes, the buffet is heavy on fried food, that and the menu could use a fresh veggie addition or three. But overall, given the quality of the food (all fresh), the ambiance and family like service, docks (and I didn't mention yes you can anchor off the Tilghman on the Chesapeake Marina) and entertainment, I give it a great rating.

a shadow of what it was, 2014-01-09
Captain: , Chester, MD (225)

Buddy Harrison's place was once a Chesapeake Landmark. Everyone who was anyone dined here and took fishing charters here including former Presidents. Regrettably, though its had a recent remodel in the past year and has gotten a bit better, its not the place it once was. Family dining. Its OK but no longer a must stop.

Good location but poor quality everything., 2013-07-18

Went aground on 7/4/2013 in middle of channel right in front of T head of marrina, I only draft 33" and had to back off. Locals told me to stay more to port, always thanks after the fact. The Knapp Narrows entrance channel is about as bad stay so close to last Red that you can touch it , one boat at a time.

he food was just OK and not cheap. I tried to find out if dockage was free, no one knew. Poorly run facility too bad nice looking.

Got the all you can eat buffet the on Friday and the food was terrible. They kept running out of things and the carver was also the runner so we never did get meat. Crab legs sub par. Only thing they can do right is stewed tomatoes and bread pudding. Pretty sad for a seafood restaurant. Went back Sat. to eat crabs. Bought the large at $65 a dozen. Nine of them were paper shells and the crabs were reheated and not steamed fresh. Listed to the band and they were good. So if you want a good band with crappy food and sloooow service head to Buddy's.

Mediocre food, slowwwww kitchen, our server was pleasant but lacking customer service skills. Sunday evening, we were one of only five occupied tables in the place. Two hours start to finish. Won't be back.

Adequate, but not an attraction, 2011-09-06
Captain: , Londontowne, MD (470)

The fixed docks don't look to be in the best of shape. Food is OK, restaurant service approaches adequate, and the live band sounded OK... but from our recent dinner experience I wouldn't recommend going out of the way to stop here for the food unless other circumstances dictate.
