Reviews for Harbourgate Marina and Resort
Nice marina, but low power, 2017-03-12
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (82)

Stayed here for a week in November after purchasing our boat from the on-site broker. It's a nice enough marina, friendly helpful staff, Filet's restaurant and bar are excellent. But, the voltage at the docks is very low- my onboard meter showed 192V, which I confirmed with a DVM. On our third day, our AC seawater pump burned out. I'd like to stay here again, but probably won't because of the power issue.

Great Stop, 2015-04-12
Captain: , Wicomico Creek, MD (494)

Excellent Fuel prices, inside floating docks and a restaurant with excellent food. Provisioning is a bit of a hike (around 1.5 mile walk). Not a lot of slips so call ahead.

Best Transient Marina, 2015-03-04
Captain: , North Myrtle Beach,SC (32)

Love the location, Filet's Restaurant is fantastic!
Easy to get to, have to stop for bridge so why not stay at Harbourgate Marina

O K Marina, not a good value, 2014-10-21
Captain: , Punta Gorda FL (20)

Stayed there one night, heads need to updated and the facilities are getting older. Nice restaurant next door called fillets great meal and good price.

This is not a resort by any means, not sure that I will stay there again.

Nice Marina, 2014-07-07
Captain: , Seabrook, TX (20)

The marina may not be the fanciest, but it is more than adequate. The restaurant Filets is quite nice. The marina is run by Suzie who is very willing to help in anyway she can.

Nice marina, good restraunts, 2013-05-09
Captain: , Oriental, N.C. (130)

We stayed one night on 5/9/13. Very accomodating staff. They even drove us to the market for some shopping. Very nice restraunt at Filets, on site. Easy in, easy out.

Excellent place, 2013-03-29
Captain: , Stafford, VA (1079)

We left our boat here for several weeks last summer and the staff was very accommodating.

Great stopping point, 2013-01-13
Captain: , Browns Cove, MD (402)

We had to arrange for a 2 month transient slip and this marina was the most accommodating and friendly we found as well as offering superb protection. Super easy access from the ICW and the floating piers are wonderful. The tiki bar was a fun place for us to unwind with great service and friendly staff. we got gas and pumped out before tying up and the dock help was great as well. Overall a 5 star experience!

Our home away from home, 2012-12-03
Captain: , Buffalo (1154)

This is one of our favourite marinas. The staff is excellent, and the location is great with everything including grocery and WM close. The docks are floating, and in excellent condition. There is never any current in the marina, and the only wakes are from the few boats that ignore the slow speed zone. But the nearby swing bridge slows nearly everyone.

The water is fresh, so bottom fouling is not as big a problem as in some other locations. There is no boat repair here, but the yard next door has a travelift. The only down side is the noise from the high bridge just to the north.

Great service!, 2012-04-26
Captain: , Southport, NC (82)

We were unable to pass through the bridge at Barefoot Marina due to high winds (35 kt gusts) so we went back through The Rocks to Harbourgate. We didn't arrive until after COB but Donald had waited for us. He was MOST courteous and informative. He recommended to restaurants nearby so we followed his advice and chose one of them. Capt. Poos Anchor Restaurant was super. It was tequila Tuesday and the locals were in a wonderful mood. Our dinner was good and the local color was excellent! Donald was right. We spent a very relaxing night at Harbourgate and would recommend it highly. Restroom/shower were clean and had an abundance of hot water. Donald was there to help castoff the next morning in the rain...but the winds had gone down. We really appreciated the service and the attention we got from Harbourgate Marina.

Great Transient Option, 2012-04-03
Captain: , Southport, NC (916)

Whether towing your boat or cruising Harbourgate is a great option for those arriving late or not wanting to navigate the Rock Pile in the dark. Harbourgate is well sheltered, good restaurant, nice tiki bar, has a pool, and adequate shower facilities. It's a long walk to the bathroom/shower so if given the choice on B dock try to get as far back in the marina as possible. If you are staying a few days there are also jet ski rentals, tour boats, parasailing, etc.

3-27-12 Recently came through late evening and called their after hours number. They set us up on the face dock and were happy to help. Transiting north it was a great luxury as we were hoping to get past Littler River Swing Bridge and have smooth sailing north in the morning.

Easy in/out, 2012-02-08
Captain: , SeaScape Marina (310)

Nice marina, located adjacent to the Swing Bridge. Public boat ramp located under the bridge. Limited space to tie off. Local restaurants near by serve fresh seafood at a resonable price.

Great Tikki Bar, 2012-01-26
Captain: , Wrightsville, NC (270)

This is a great little place to take in the traffic on the ICW. It is located adjacent to the Little River swing bridge and there is also a nice public boat ramp located next door. Poo's (local favorite watering hole) is located walking distance to the north.

Great overnight stop, 2011-11-27
Captain: , Flagler Beach, Florida 32136 (305)

7/4/11. Great marina, good service, good slips and good food walking distance. Friendly attendants and well trained. Getting in and out, a little tricky, but pay attenation and all is well. Will stop here again and recommend Harborgate with pleasre.

I stop and stay for the restruant, 2011-11-14
Captain: , Denver NC (329)

Filets is a great place to eat and drink. It's nice to be able to party then crash on the boat.

Great place to stop for fuel - easy in and out and good prices, 2011-11-06
Captain: , Fort Lauderdale (1344)

We stopped for fuel today and got a great price (lower than anywhere nearby) and an additional $0.10 per gallon discount for cash. The fuel dock is outside the marina proper, right alongside the waterway on the green side--floating dock with fenders. Signage is poor and the pumps are ashore, not on the floating dock, so we were not sure we had the right place, but getting alongside and getting off was quick and easy, service was excellent, and fuel flow was a miserly 12 gallons per minute which worked fine for us. And if you're headed south when you're ready to push off, just call the Little River Swing Bridge (just about 150 yards away) for an opening. Very helpful attendant and pleasant who knew how to handle lines.

Poor Communications with Harbourgate Marina, 2011-08-12
Captain: , Dataw Island, SC (290)

A little difficult coming from the north as you almost have to know where you are going as you enter the marina immediately after passing the swing bridge.

As I was going through the swing bridge, I called for availability and received very poor information from the lady attendant who directed me to initially a slip too small and then to one already occupied - all this time having to maneuver through unfamiliar areas of the marina. Finally, I was directed to a slip that the attendant had to find out what the beam was first. When time came for the bill, I was charged for a 40' lenght vs. my lengh of 36'. When questioned, the attendant said that her boss estimated my length at 40' by "eyeballing" my boat. This all lead to an unpleasant welcoming experience that was not corrected by a free cap and kouze. I would select another marina in the future before going back to Harbourgate.

Nice But Noisy, 2011-04-17
Captain: , Between Boats, USA (623)

What a nice place. Dockhand Joey was great and knew his stuff and Anita in the office was very helpful. Paid $1.25/ft (BoatUS discount I think) and they didn't appear to charge for power. YMMV. Still, got a Frisbee, 2 beer huggies, a free hat, and a cool folding vinyl bag for free. How cool is that?

The downside is that the big resort, the constant beeping of the bridge as it opens and closes, the music from the restaurant, and the biker bar next door, does make for some noisy surroundings. But hey, it's a nice change of pace for us. And after a long day of driving the boat, I doubt we'll lose too much sleep. Only a 1-star deduction for that.

Changes to Pricing, 2010-10-15
Captain: , North Myrtle Beach, SC (3210)

Lowered prices for transients to $1.50, which is par for the area, and only charge per foot for transients. Three excellent places to eat withing walking distance. Long walk to stores/West Marina, but doable. Great staff, and well protected. Water is semi-fresh.
