Reviews for Harbour Village Marina
Great stop, 2016-07-25
Captain: , Fort worth (172)

We'll if you want to talk about a nice tidy stop this is it. Follow their directions about the entrance and the depth was fine for our 5 foot draft at dead low tide.
The facilities are first rate. The basin is scenic. Plus the staff was great and personable. We had 3 guys help us come in on a dead quiet day. Granted it was 5:15 and they wanted to go home. I didn't figure that out until they left.
We did a delivery Italian that was pretty bad. It was the only blemish on a really nice overnight.

Captain: , North Myrtle Beach, SC (3210)

It was 0615 and a huge squall/thunder/rain storm came up all of a sudden and we ducked in here and tied to the fuel dock. At 0800 when the staff showed up, they were most nice to let us stay tied up until the storm passed around 0900. We looked around and this is a nice place.

great people, 2016-05-13
Captain: , Clayton, NY (10)

traveling the ICW north with incoming thunder storms everyone was scurring to find a dock. this outfit moved boats around o find us a secure spot.......with 15 mnutes left to spare they docked us and fueled the boat.....can't get any better than this 5 stars all the way

Captain: , Iuka, MS (1120)

Not close to anything. We actually walked 3.8 miles in each direction to go to the Thai restaurant in Hampstead. Not recommended...NC does not believe in sidewalks. Bicycling is even more out of the question, as access to town is from US 17.

good protection and great help, 2016-04-23
Captain: , LaHave Nova Scotia (41)

Pulled in after a crazy windy day on the ICW and touching bottom in sloop creek ancorage. Mike was there to catch our lines and get us fixed up. I mentioned I was having trouble with my thermostat and was looking to get another one. Mike asked for the information on it, found an auto place that had one a voluntered to pick it up the next morning on the way in to work. This fixed up my problem, what great service!

Well protected marina; nice staff, 2016-04-19
Captain: , Annapolis MD (210)

This is a well protected Marina providing good shelter off the ICW, particularly on windy days. Mike the dock master was great in getting us tied up on the fuel dock. Not much around the Marina but several restaurants will deliver. Good stop if you don't want to deal with the current at Wrightsville Beach.

Worth the stop, 2016-04-09
Captain: , Wilmington NC (400)

3/ 31-4/8/2016 Stopp to order part to replace a broken steering cable. Several resturants that deliver to the marina and a local cab co that charge $8 each way to run me out to the store. Still an awesome spot.
12/26/15 Closed for the holidays but came in to fuel us up and check us in. Still one of the nicest places I stop. Clean, protected, friendly, and professional.
5/28-30/2015 Stop while visiting with friends in the area. Very modern facility. The marina is separate from the houses surrounding it. Great dog walking. Mike Moran, dockmaster, could not have been more accomodating. Very quiet and peaceful.

Won't stay here again if we can avoid it, 2015-12-02
Captain: , Naples, FL (20)

Reasonable dock hand, but horrid owner or manager (don't know if they are one and the same person). he didn't have the time of day for us, and was really rude. Men's room was unusable even for using the head, let alone the shower. Too bad because the docks are floating docks, and the basin this marina is in were both very nice, clean and peaceful. But we're easy customers and this place didn't have the time of day for us.

Captain: , Deltaville, VA (602)

Harbor Village Marina will make even the most demanding boater happy. Nice, nice, nice. Not near a town, restaurants, or shopping but it is protected and ultra modern. Fuel, Pumpout, pristine showers and bathrooms, electricity, floating composite docks.
Mike (Harbormaster) and Frank are fantastic. Worthy of five stars.
Be sure to make a reservation as there are not many transient slips.

Great stop, 2015-11-09
Captain: , Satellite Beach, Fl (60)

Called ahead a texted me back needed info. Was running late do to current north of marina, but they stayed late to help get all tied up and made sure we had everything we needed prior to them leaving for the night. (Glad they asked if I need ice which I did, he opened the office back up with a smile and grabbed me a few bags). These guys are awesome, nice and helpful. Although there isn't really anything around, it's a great stop over for a quit night, no current. Very nice and very clean and good wifi. Would stay here again.

Great Facilities - Right Off ICW, 2015-11-08
Captain: , Hilton Head, SC (909)

Amidst a housing development, this marina is well protected. Good water (10.5 ft) at the face / fuel dock where they put us overnight. Helpful dock staff. Offered to drive us to store for groceries, but we did not need it. Facilities are kept clean. Wifi was good. Grassy areas to walk the dog.

Impressed that they text you instructions and maps on docking instructions. I wish other marinas would do this.

A good stop, 2015-11-03
Captain: , Michigan City, IN, USA (150)

I reserved a transient slip several days ago, however on arriving there are several signs with the dockmaster's phone number advising to call when you arrive. I telephoned Mike the dockmaster before we arrived and he texted an aerial photo and approach instructions. The docks are floating and very nice and very stable with substantial cushion along the sides. The dockhand and dockmaster are pleasant and knowledgeable. Clean restrooms and fast wifi. This is a secluded area just off the ICW so there were no waves and very little wind. A restful stop. There is no restaurant close by but there are restaurants that will deliver to your boat. Overall a very nice and enjoyable stop.

Nice facility, helpful dock staff, 2015-10-24
Captain: , Dunedin, FL (6422)

For amenities, Harbour Village does not have much, especially at $2/ft. But the harbor is isolated from ICW wakes, the docks are solid, the staff is helpful, pump out & power included. The restrooms & showers are clean.

Pizza delivery is available, but no other restaurants close. Lots of room to walk your dog. Very quiet location, at least mid-week.

Top Notch Service, 2015-10-18
Captain: , Racine, WI (515)

So they don't use VHF, cell phone worked well and Mike was right there to make docking even easier. Great directions, channel well marked, great facilities. Definitely a good place to make a stop.

Excellent Service, 2015-08-27
Captain: , Gulf Harbour, Fl (238)

Stopped here for one night 8/26/2015. Called the marina in the afternoon to ask about available slips. Mike, Dockmaster, immediately sent me a text with a photo of the marina and docking instructions. Stayed on the fuel dock. Frank met us at the dock and helped with lines, power, etc. That evening Mike sent a second text checking to make sure Frank had taken good care of us.

Marina is in a very nice housing development. Clean bathrooms and showers. Good wifi. No restaurant. Very quiet. Easy off the ICW.

Good for a one night stop going north or south.

Very Nice Marina, 2015-07-01
Captain: , Traverse City, Mi (281)

We stopped for a night pn June 30, 2015. Great help from the dock hands getting tied up and set up. Very clean and a nice quiet marina - and friendly. Will stop again when we are in the area.

Very nice quiet marina, 2015-05-21
Captain: , Knoxville, Tennessee (230)

Very well protected marina. Beautifully maintained marina...nice floating docks. Harbor master Mike was most helpful. Actually called us back on cell phone when he observed our approach off the ICW was cutting it close. Lots of grassy areas for pups. No onsite restaurants, which actually makes for a nice environment to enjoy a private peaceful dinner on the deck. Would stop here again.

private , very secure, 2015-01-04
Captain: , Ft. Lauderdale, FL (20)

no-nonsense Dockmaster helped even after hours. Local Cab to restaurants / grocery / hardware. Stopped summer 2014 on the way south. Not a party atmosphere, a quiet private marina.

Secure private marina, 2014-11-24
Captain: , Palm Beach Gardens (34)

Helping a friend bring his boat from Beaufort to Florida, stopped here right at dusk on 11/8. Dockmaster met us at the slip, tied up all the lines and connected shore power before we even stepped ashore, then gave the captain a golf cart ride to the office. Relatively new floating docks in this large private marina surrounded by condos. Only negative was the 1/2 mile one-way walk to the showers (measured on google maps). Good stopping place between Beaufort and Southport, with easy in/out from ICW. Will probably stop here again.

Beautiful Marina, 2014-11-20
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (310)

Staff member met me at the dock, secured lines, plugged in shore power, and chauffered me to the office in a golf cart. Best service I've found on the ICW.

well protected, easy face dock, 2014-10-09
Captain: , Marco Island, FL (476)

Mike helped us find the entry via VHF, then tied us up on face dock.
Very nice private marina. Pizza delivery was only dining option, which was fine for 1 night. Shower was good.
Felt very secure here.

well protected, 2014-09-19
Captain: , venice (70)

Spent 5 days here awaiting engine part for repair. Very well protected marina with recently rebuilt docks. Though watch the corners as they are just right height to puncture an inflatable - got mine. Showers are at office which is quite a hike from most slips.

Good stop between Morehead City and Southport., 2014-07-18
Captain: , Salt Ponds, Va (535)

Hit the Surf City Bridge at 5:08 and had to wait till 6 to get thru but Mike stayed late to get us in. Good facilities, clean showers, another star if they had a restaurant.

Nice stop north of Wrightsville Beach, 2014-06-30
Captain: , Fernandina, FL (428)

Stopped after a long day in the rain from Morehead City. Mike very helpful at the dock. Nice facilities but residential so no restaurant. No dock hand for early departures.

5-16-14 northbound. Mike a big help with docking. Brooklyn Pizza delivers to the marina and is good.

6-27-14 southbound after thunder storm at Topsail. Mike waited late for our arrival. Showers nice but nothing around so Brooklyn Pizza's still good!

lovely little marina, 2014-06-12
Captain: , CHARLESTON (330)

very protected, very pretty and clean marina - residential so not much around but definitely worth the stop!

Very Accommodating, 2014-05-02
Captain: , Portsmouth, NH (33)

We had a bit of a delay going North since we were hung up on the shoal at 99A. Called Mike at close to 5:00 PM and he was glad to accommodate us. The boat ahead of us graciously agreed to delay their entrance so we could get fuel (they were schedued to be on the fuel dock that night) and we then moved into a slip. It looks tight but we easily managed to manuever our 45 foot Island Packet in and around without any difficulty. A great stop over in an area where anchorages are fairly well apart.

Nice quiet place to stop, 2014-01-13
Captain: , deltaville (40)

Decided could not make the bridges today so called to Mike and he was so friendly - met us and helped us get settled very quickly and efficiently. Only things was water was not turned on at the dock because there is chance to freeze right now (January) but they offered a hose from the bath house hook up if we needed it - we did not. Would return again. He was also helpful on navigating tips which help so much with the shoaling along this area. SV Lady Marian

Take it or leave it, 2014-01-01
Captain: , Key Largo (122)

Promised the fuel dock, we were given a slip 1/2 mile away from the office and showers instead, and told there are other marinas if we were unhappy. Not a transient-friendly place.

Great marina, 2013-11-09
Captain: , Baltimore, MD (1100)

Great stop over. Mike insists on reservations so he can ensure everyone gets a slip so make sure you call before shoeing up. The $2.00 per foot rate is all inclusive, no extra fees for electric, etc. The marina is surrounded by high end homes which add to the atmosphere. New docks, power posts, etc. Clean and friendly! And what other marina sends you a text of the marina entrance and dock layout? Definitely will stop here again.

Too Expensive!, 2013-10-31
Captain: , Yorktown, VA (952)

This is a beautiful marina; however, for $2 a foot there is no amenities. The bathrooms are a very long walk around the marina, probably a half mile, one bar for the internet, no shopping, and not to friendly staff. They take you in the golf cart to pay then let you walk the half mile back to your boat. It is a very convenient stop off the ICW but with a little effort, they could make this a great stop. If you stop, make sure you are on the fuel dock.

Harbor Village Marina, 2013-10-23
Captain: , Manalapan, N (107)

Beautiful marina with plenty of transient slips in a private community. New docks. Fuel and pump out at the fuel dock. Protected and easy on and off the ICW. No laundry and far from any stores. Would highly recommend for a night's stay.

Great Stop, 2013-09-18
Captain: , Palm Beach Gardens (452)

This is a great marina in a good location. The entrance is well marked, deep, and wide enough that in a heavy cross wind there is still plenty of room without going out the channel. We called on a day they were closed, Tues. and Wed., but they still answered the phone and had a spot waiting for us just before sunset. The only reason for not 5 stars is it is in an isolated area.

Great stop, staff, facilities and neighborhood, 2013-08-06
Captain: , Venice (208)

This is a great marina on its own. When our one day stop turned into a 2 week stay due to a medical issue the staff and residents were very helpful and gracious. A rental car is needed to get around and Enterprise will come and pick you up.

Good stay, 2013-06-21
Captain: , Houston (30)

Very nice marina w floating docks. Staff was helpful.

Very Up scale marina in a very protected basin Elegant storm port, 2013-06-13
Captain: , Gulf Breeze, Fl (6909)

Stopped early to duck a severe weather warning. This is all the other reviewers have mentioned. Extremely clean, well kepted with floated new docks etc. Bathrooms and showers freshen and spotless. Slips are all privately owned but empty slips can be sublet to a transient.

Great stop, 2013-06-04

Great Marina, 2013-06-02
Captain: , Southport NC (71)

One of the best facilities on the run from Wilmington to Moorehead City. Clean upscale bathrooms and new floating docks. Fuel is pricy and nothing to walkto in the area. However if you want a clean pleasant marina its a great stop.

Peaceful quiet stop, 2013-05-06
Captain: , Philadelphia (41)

One of the best on ICW if want quiet no current and floating docks. Very well kept; very helpful and professional dock master. No restaurants or markets.

Great stop on the ICW, 2013-05-06
Captain: , Longboat Key (110)

This is a perfect spot to stop along the ICW - entrance was easy and Mike made the docking a breeze. He was very helpful - while there are no restaurants to walk to some will deliver. The aforementioned construction noise ended at 5 pm and wasn't that bad the day we stopped.

Great place, 2013-04-29
Captain: , Galesville, MD (441)

We had a breakdown and needed to be towed. Called Mike. He gave us a slip number and was sad that he was in town and could not be there to help us tie up. He has been helpful and charming. Glad we came here.

Hidden Gem, 2013-04-26
Captain: , Jacksonville, FL (161)

We stayed here on 4.23.13 (a Tuesday) after departing Southport around noon due to a mechanical issue. We talked to Mike Moran, the Harbormaster, several times on the way up and he was very helpful and accommodating. We arrived at the marina at 4:30 and he and another dock person greeted us, helped us tie up, and get power. The marina was definitely open on Tuesday, mbut they had no fuel available.

The floating docks are in excellent shape and the grounds are well kept. This appears to be a private marina that is accessed from the ICW through an entrance channel. The marina is surrounded by nice houses. It was very calm at night with no noise or other distraction. This marina is a hidden gem on the waterway between Southport and Swansboro, and gave us an alternative to the high prices and rocking and rolling at Wrightsville Beach. The only drawback from our prospective is the lack of any place to eat, but we enjoyed a meal on board during our stay.

Very noisy construction going on, 2013-04-24
Captain: , Bear, DE (230)

This is a nice enough marina, although pretty isolated with no restaurants or stores within walking distance. However, it is currently in the middle of a large construction project right next to the transient slips. Backhoes and tractors running from 7:30am to 5pm, and the jackhammers start at 10am. The dockmaster smiled and shook his head when we asked for a discount due to the noise. $2/foot is too high for this environment.

I suggest you call and ask about the status of the construction before staying here. 910-270-4017. In mid-April 2013, it appears to have just started and could be many more weeks of noise. It is possible that weekends are quieter.

Rescued from a bad experience, 2013-03-21
Captain: , Lewes, DE (424)

We were taking our boat north (3/20/2013) and just after passing the Figure Eight Island Bridge our engine overheated and we shut it down. After dropping an anchor to review the situation and to allow the engine to cool. We called Harbor Village and Mike answered (at the time we didn't know they were closed on Tuesday and it was Tuesday). He told us to come on and we sailed up the ICW and sailed right into the marina. He told us where to tie up and we did. He arrived and offered assistance. Mike, the Harbormaster is retired from running boat yards for many years. We discussed our situation and he offered to get a mechanic in the morning if we needed. After checking I found that the alternator belt had burst. I called him and he picked up a belt and had coolant so I was able to fix the problem in less than an hour and we got back on our way. Heads were clean and nice and he helped us get off the dock with heavy winds pinning us against the dock. Will definitely stay there again.

Sorry we bothered ya, 2013-02-11
Captain: , Rochester, NY (493)

After a very taxing day, we pulled in right at quitting time to a very grumpy dockmaster.

He must have been having a bad day, too.

Otherwise - expensive, clean, looked a bit posh, quiet at night

You must call ahead, 2012-12-11
Captain: , St. John, VI (90)

You must call ahead to reserve a space, they do not monitor CH 16. Great dock hands upon arrival & a lovely community for walking. This was a good spot for us to break up our trip south & avoid the marina at Snead's Ferry-nice folks BUT way overpriced!

An amazing place., 2012-11-04
Captain: , Roseville, MN (362)

Ok, we did 75 miles today. Saw some anchorages close by. Did not want to wonder about holding. Called dockmaster as we left Morehead City. He wasn't sure we would make it but was positive. Hit two bridges correctly on time. And watched the chart plotter for time of arrival. Cleared the second bridge. Checked in. Motored on. Got close and used the cell phone for new directions. We are into the sun. Could not SEE what he was describing and then COULD. Well marked channel. Good directions. Good support at the dock. Hose there. Power there. Recycling there. Quiet condo development but not overwhelming. Friendly people. Did I say quiet. Great place. Secure. In all ways. When you do 762 miles, you need to be comforted. This place did it.

Great stop now that Surf City is out of business, 2012-10-14
Captain: , Poughkeepsie, NY (5607)

We called several days in advance and got a slip on the fuel dock, very convenient since we refueled and didn't have to move. The fuel dock is a long face dock, easy in and out.

The facility is very well kept with floating, artificial wood docks - looks very nice. The basin offers 360 degree protection, no wakes! The basin is surrounded by large condos and homes. There are no stores or restaurants on the premises. However, there are two restaurants that will deliver to your boat, we'll try one tonight. The dockmaster was friendly and helped us tie up.

Quiet refuge, 2012-07-02
Captain: , St. Thomas, USVI (624)

We stayed one night here after a long, long day and the dockmaster, knowing we were going to be late, hapily stayed until we got there and helped us in, which we greatly appreciated. The slips here are owned by members so it is not a full service typical marina and requires advance notice for ttransient dockage, but it was isolated in a basin from the waterway and away from currents. It is a little tight for us, but we managed with their help. As long as you call in advance, this is a great stop over for a night.

A convenient stop-over, 2012-05-07
Captain: , Red Lion, DE (712)

2012-05-07 This is our 2nd time here and we find it to be a very convenient distance between the other marinas we stay at, esp. since it is the only one in the area that can accommodate our catamaran. Everything is in tip-top shape and the dockmaster is easy to deal with. Be sure to phone ahead, even one day ahead is a good idea, to make a reservation. The fuel dock can only accommodate a couple of larger vessels.

any port in a storm., 2012-03-24
Captain: , sassafras river, md (303)

we were heaeded for beach house marina when a thunder storm came roaring in from the west. With lighting and heavy rains we pulled into Harbour view. The dock master was very pleasant, helping both boats get tied up before the weather hit, fueled and tied up, he told us about the chinesse delivery to the dock. Had a geat meal. rode out the storm and headed north the next morning. A bit pricey. but great bathrooms. and easy icw entry and exit.

Place is like new!, 2011-10-07
Captain: , New Smyrna Beach, Fl. (200)

Stayed on the fuel dock. Doesn't monitor VHF, must call. This is a condo marina community that is very high end. Little pricier than I like, but nicest showers and bath rooms I have seen in any marina. Even furnish soap, shampoo, and tooth paste. Pd.

Unwelcome attitude of dockmaster, 2011-07-17
Captain: , Salt Spring Island, BC (50)

This marina was a welcome sight as there was no anchorage around and bad weather was coming. We had met a member of this marina that day who told us as it was after 6:00 when we arrived, to tie up at the fuel dock and make ourselves at home. There was no staff around, and the only sign said to call dockmaster to make reservations. As the member had told us we were welcome, we settled in and were rudely awakened by banging on the cabin door by the dockmaster, Mike, who was furious at us. He said he had to drive back 25 miles to check on us after viewing his on-site camera and in essence told us we were trying to scam a night's dockage. He did not accept our explanation that a member had told us we were okay, in fact, he denied even knowing who the member was but remembered after we pointed out that member's boat. He was aggressive, accusative and demanding. He wanted only cash and the price of $3' was way too high for the amenities. This experience left a very bad taste in our mouths but it was the only negative experience of our whole cruise down and back to Florida. Usually, boaters are given the benefit of the doubt, not so, in this case.

Convenient, 2011-06-26
Captain: , New Rochelle, NY (1000)

A little overpriced for where it's located, but the dockmaster is fabulously accomodating and the facilities are in excellent shape. 'Panda', a very good Chinese restaurant, delivers to your boat

The Italian restaurant was excellent. Will make this a regular stop.

Stayed here one night 2011-02-23. Found owner & contractor in the process of renovating men's bath & shower unit. Just off the waterway through a dredged channel that we were seriously cautioned against turning into too soon -- don't cut the corner.

Nice and Quiet, 2010-12-13

We stopped here for a night over Thanksgiving as we headed south. It's a nice alternative to the Beach House should it be full or you want to get away from the noise of Topsail Beach. What a pleasant place to stop for a quick overnight. Not a lot of transient dockage (100' or so and only at fuel dock) and the dockmaster won't answer (and doesn't monitor) VHF16, so you need to call ahead. However, Mike is a very nice guy and devoted to his work. The facilities are simple, but the bathrooms are huge with plans to renovate over the 2010/2011 winter season. There isn't much, if anything, nearby for provisioning, but it is a very quiet place to stop for the night and a good place just to get out and walk the docks and the neighborhood before bed. Rate is a little steep for the area (what kept it from getting 5-stars) and the fuel price was pretty high with no BoatUS discount. Entry markers are very easy and the water is deep with pretty good space for maneuvering around. We very much enjoyed it and will stop there again someday.

great stop between bridges, 2010-12-09

There are only a few transient spaces at this marina, so call ahead during heavy travel times of the year. Floating docks and very clean and quiet in a residential setting, with a happy staff, this is a good stop. If you are on the west side of the marina it is a very long walk to the bath house.
The Panda Chinese Restaurant (910) 270-2994 will deliver dinner right to your slip and it is very good!

Great Half-way Stop, 2010-05-20

Being tired of always trying to do the four bridges in the stretch of the ICW (no matter which direction you're traveling) we decided to split the chore and stay here for the night. We called in advance to assure a spot on the fuel dock.

The entire facility is in tip-top condition. Staff very friendly and most helpful. Great protection from any wake of traffic on ICW. It was a great change to just hear the birds singing while we had dinner onboard.

Nice stop, 2008-10-30

I stopped there mid may 2008, no reservations, maybe we were lucky.. we saw the sign on the ICW and called to see if they had room.

10/08: Stopped again the fall, still not disapointed. clean new floating docks, friendly people. Plenty of water in the channel (8 to 9'). $2 a foot doens't make it a bargain but considering the facility, it's worth it

friendly owner/family, the marina had just been completly renovated with new floating pier and tall pilings with telescopic sleeves to rise above storm surge. I dont' think they coudl fit much larger than our 70 (they put us on Tee dock) unless at the fuel dock.

We also ordered Chinese food, delivered to the boat and delicious.... far better than the chinese food we had in NY China Town a couple of weeks later :-)

a good stop northbound if you want to go a little beyond Wrightstville Beach or southbound if you can't make it to WB. Not too many marinas on this stretch.

This marina has limited transient space...usually on the fuel dock. You should call Mike Moran for reservations

Great place to duck in..., 2007-04-21

We were here in March, 2005. There was nasty weather and the ICW bridges were starting to not open because of wind. We ducked into this marina to find a warm and friendly place to stay. It was really nice. The manager did everything possible to make our stay enjoyable. When he found out that we liked Chinese food, he got us a menu from a local delivery restaurant who delivered the food right to our slip!

It was a memorable place to stay. This atmosphere at this marina is the way all marinas should feel.

Update - we stayed here again in April, 2007. The entire facility has changed a lot. It has been completely sold and now all the slips are owned by individuals - there is very little transient dockage - we stayed at the end of the fuel dock (room for 2-3 boats). You must call for a reservation. The facilities are a little more worn than the last time we stayed here but they are still pretty good.
