Reviews for Harbour Cay Club
Great Place Great People, 2017-03-20
Captain: , Peterborough Ontario (20)

We stayed 10 nights in February 2017 and had a great time. The resident boaters and the few transient boaters were all great and helpful. The club is very inviting and you feel at home. The grounds were very well kept and dock fees were very reasonable. We enjoyed doing puzzles in the club house and the social hour at 5 PM most evenings. You are close to the bus stop should you wish to take a trip to Key West. There are restaurants with happy hours within walking distance. There is only one reason we rated only a four star and that is the fact that you are exposed to the winds and waves from the north. We recommend The Harbour Cay Club to all that like a quaint community oriented marina.

I called on a whim, assuming they probably did not take transients. Boy, did we luck out!! We ended up staying for a month!! I can't say enough about this little hidden gem! The people are wonderful and welcomed us into their 'family', the grounds are absolutely gorgeous, and the price was better than all the other marinas! Consider yourself very lucky to get a spot here. ;)

Quite a gem, 2017-01-29

Only good things to say about this spot. Owners run the place, helpful, fun and georgous 180 degree view from slip 22. All the benefits of Marathon without the noise. We planned on a week and stayed 2. Plenty of social if you want or quiet oasis. Clean bathrooms, TV and pump out that works.

How do we keep this gem a secret?, 2015-02-22

Just left after spending a month at HCC. This place has it all. Great location, great facilities, friendly natives and docks you don't need to worry about in a blow.

From HCC you can go anywhere in the Keys. Key West bus service runs frequently from Marathon to Key West for $2($1.50 for seniors) and there is a bus service into Miami. Community is bike friendly and nearly everyplace has bike racks. Just outside the gate is Porky's BBQ that features some of the best barbecue ribs we've eaten lately and my wife had a great lobster. Prices are reasonable compared to many that have gotten expensive.

The price at HCC is also reasonable. Not as cheap as a mooring in Boot Key but you don't have to do a 20 minute dinghy ride several times day in gale conditions. Each slip also has a pump out which actually works well.

If you're planning to stay reserve early and often. When we head back that way we will stay again.

Hidden Treasure, 2014-08-20

This is such a screctly nice place I really don't want to tell anyone of it's existance, we are looking forward to our return. We stayed here for 9 weeks (winter '13) and found everyone friendly and helpful. The wind can be rough nothing to stop it. The slip parking can be a bit of a challenge, a few slip require the boaters in front of you to drop their lines to allow you to depart with the same only in reverse upon your return. The marina owners keep the place to the 9's not even a rock out of place. Great location KW only 50 Miles and Homestead 75 Miles. Accross Hiway 1 is Burdines Waterfront best burger and fries you'll ever have.

great little marina, 2014-01-31
Captain: , Chattanooga tn (281)

Great little find. Approach between the fanny keys, the west side of middle is a little deeper, wind blew us toward east side but still had 4.5 feet at low tide. Note, if you go on the west side of the keys you will find bottom. My GPS has the local at 24.42.60 W and 81.06.58 N. Clean facility, very helpful residence. Included us in all events. This is a coop marina with 24 slips, they rent out the ones not in use by the owners to offset club costs. Winter rate was $18 a foot for the month, plus metered electric and water. Strong Pump out is self serve at the slip, Basic cable and wifi included, laundry is 0.75. You will rock and roll if strong winds from the north, especially if on the outside slips. We had a harbor slip so we rocked much less but did rock. Facility has a club house, tidal pool, inspiration point, tiki hut, fish cleaning station, community grills, small boat ramp, dingy dockage area, etc. Would return and recommend.

Friendly, small marina, 2013-03-08
Captain: , Athens, NY (81)

We just completed a two week stay at Harbour Cay Club. This is a private, coop type marina, with 24 slips "owned" by coop members. When someone is away, their slip is available for transients. Everyone at Harbour Cay Club was very helpful and friendly, inviting us to join them at informal sunset gatherings for drinks and converstation. Bathrooms, showers, and laundry, were neat and clean. There are several nearby restaurants, and Publix is a 15-minute bike ride away. However, the Club's location on the Florida Bay side of the island is somewhat remote from Boot Key Harbor activities.

a little exposed, 2012-11-17
Captain: , N Fort Myers, Florida (516)

This is a great marina. It only has 24 slips, most of them owned, but there are several slips for transients if you can get them. I was fortunate enough to get one, but it was out at the end of a dock and was exposed to a lot of wave action. The docks are in excellent condition, fixed, mostly concrete but some are wood. There is a wonderful clubhouse and emmaculate showers and rest rooms. The dock master, Jim, couldn.t be more helpful.

If 10 stars were available, Harbour Cay would deserve it...., 2012-03-09
Captain: , Marietta, GA (260)

This is a wonderful place we accidentally stumbled upon. It is privately owned and operated, and the residents manage and care for the marina meticulously. We stayed for 2 weeks and easily could have stayed for 2 months and felt right at home, even as a transient. Everyone is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable and always willing to assist in docking. There is a beautiful club house with full kitchen, clean laundry facility, pump-out at the slip, well-appointed grounds and just plain good people. West Marine is about 1/4 mile down the road, and Publix and CVS/Walgreens are about 2 miles (easy bike ride). Everything is reachable on a bike, including the Marathon airport.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the residents we met and hope to return.

A very special place, 2011-05-28

Harbour Cay Club is a privately owned and operated marina whose owners rent/lease a limited number of slips to transients. Details can be found at

We stayed here 7 weeks (Feb-Apr) and had the best time. The owners are a great group of boaters and we felt very much a part of their club even though we were transients.

We hesitate to publicize this place too much because we want to go back and there may not be space if it gets too popular.

Contact Capt. Jim Stengle at for details and reservations.
