Reviews for Harborwalk Marina
Kudzu bakery, 2016-11-14
Captain: , Essex, CT (285)

We have stayed at Harborwalk for 10 years and Chris has created a destination marina.
The old guide books always mentioned the great bakery in town and it still exists. Kudzu is four blocks west on Front St and has the very best frozen prepared food we have ever tasted - seafood and shrimp & corn quiche, chicken pot pie, meatloaf, cheddar biscuits as well as fish and vacuum packed meats. Georgetown is a great town; leave with your boat stocked!

Very Good Stop, 2016-11-11
Captain: , Seabrook, TX (266)

Fuel price for diesel today was 2.26, Both Chris and Larry were very knowledgeable and helpful. Laundry, bathrooms and showers were very clean. Floating docks were in vey good shape. Wifi was accessible but very very slow, only thing to prevent 5 stars.

Great stop, 2016-11-11
Captain: , Cincinnati, OH (100)

Good communication upon arrival, two attendants there to meet us and help tie off. Nice docks, wifi, and easy walk in to town.
Will come back!

Best Overall Marina, 2016-11-09
Captain: , Kent Island, MD (180)

Harborwalk is an excellent marina for location, for expertise in docking, for facilities, for customer service, and for location. This is a well protected spot for docking at a reasonable price, the people working, Chris and Joe, helped with directions and lines and electric. The office has two private bathrooms with huge showers and a laundry room with two washers and dryers. You can do your wash while you sit on the porch in a rocking chair or you can leave it while you walk the two minutes to your boat. They have a sign telling you exactly how long it will take to wash and dry. You have easy quick access to the office and the bathrooms no matter which slip your boat is in. The bathrooms and laundry room, in fact the whole place, is spotless! In addition, both Joe and Chris were very helpful and knowledgable about the town and the tourism. Everything in the historic town of Georgetown is within walking distance. This is just a great place to visit! (Be sure to visit the Rice Museum and ride the Swamp Fox Tour!)

One Bad Ingredient Can Ruin The Experience, 2016-09-16
Captain: , Washington DC (312)

I will let the email exchange speak for the experience:

Chris,

First let me say that overall we enjoyed our visit to Harborwalk Marina and Georgetown last week. However, when we left Saturday March 11, 2016, we had a less than positive experience.

At 11:30 the dock person on duty reminded us of the noon check out time. Roger. We expressed concern about leaving the dock because a 50' Fleming was on the face dock with its anchor ominously close to the end of the dock. You will recall that we were bow in, portside to the east side of the dock. He said no problem getting us out. He would push us off which we thought might work, but left no margin. We had talked to the owner of the Fleming who said that they were leaving also so we thought it would be prudent to avoid any tight spots by waiting until they left. At noon the other owners hadn't left. The dock person said he could get us off. He didn't think the other boat was leaving. The wind was about 10kts blowing us onto the dock, the current hadn't fully turned. We were unfamiliar with the current here and were considering that our prop walk is to port. We again expressed concern that if we damaged our boat or the Fleming that it was our responsibility. He said something to the effect that we were right and that maybe we didn't know how to drive our boat. We prefer to consider ourselves conservative and understanding of the limitations of the boat and ourselves in case a docking doesn't go exactly as planned. We also are very concerned not to impact other boats.

Anthony rigged a line off the other dock to our winch and winched us off the dock. Our dock neighbors were kind enough to help. The dock hand did not come back from the office to offer further assistance once we attempted leaving with our own plan. We were able to back out successfully with the line assuring that we would not be too close to the Fleming.

Unfortunately he offered one option without attempt to work with our concerns leaving a sour taste.

Thanks for listening. We offer our experience so that it might be helpful in the future.

Sincerely,

Anthony & Annette Baker
S/V Magnolia

Repsonse from Harborwalk

Anthony and Annette,

I want to thank you for the feedback. It is very helpful! I am sorry a great stay turned sour. I don%u2019t want anyone leaving Georgetown with any intentions other than coming back, especially because of a dockhand. I believe Steve was working that day. While Steve has plenty of experience in the marina business as well as operating a boat%u2026 he sometimes lacks in the personal department. He means no harm and stress seems to drive it.

In know way am I making any excuses. He should have been more concerned and willing to help. (that is his job) The Fleming should not have been put where the bow was hanging out that far to begin with. And my guys should always be concerned for both boats. I will refresh both my guys with some of the procedures and precautions as well as manners, especially since transient season is now upon us.

I want to again thank you both for staying with us. I appreciate the feedback very much and will use it to better guest services. I apologize for the lack of professionalism and hope that you will give us another chance when coming back to this area.
Sincerely, Chris
--------------------------
Magnolia's thoughts -- do you want someone working in a customer industry that "he sometimes lacks in the personal department."

Harborwalk exceeds, 2016-08-29
Captain: , Southport, NC (40)

First visit to Georgetown. Harborwalk is an excellent choice. Very clean facililities and helpful dockmaster. Chris and Steve very quick to assist and knowledgeable.

Great Stop. Next door to Independent Seafood for your shrimp cravings, 2016-07-07
Captain: , Beaufort, SC (34)

Steve greeted us at the dock and had us tied up and settled in very smoothly. great location for touring downtown Georgetown. you are right in the center of town. Independent Seafood is next door and they had fresh cleaned jumbo shrimp for $8.99 a pound and little neck clams for $2.99. Georgetown is a fun visit. We will be back. We did have some issues with the WiFi not being very good and the first two power posts had old breakers that tripped easily until we found one with a new breaker that worked well. After that we were good.

Perfect stop, 2016-06-27

Very professional staff. Larry helped us in and Steve gave us great service as well. A couple blocks away are about a dozen resturants. Immaculate showers, bathroom and the laundry room best on the intracoastal. Dog friendly . Di' Angelos best Italian south of NY

Fantastic meals! Wonderful owner Pat! Highly recommended by everyone we talked to!

Small, but well-run and well-kept, 2016-04-26
Captain: , Iuka, MS (1120)

I'd be a happy camper if all marinas were hitting the price:value sweet spot that Harborwalk provides. Very clean shower/laundry area. Immediately at the town's amenities, too.

very nice stop, 2016-04-18
Captain: , Britt, Ontario (691)

Nice docks, clean washrooms and a great little town. Even the dock closest to shore had 7 feet - enough for our 5'5" draft. Only a few restaurants open on a Sunday.

Great little Marina in a picture perfect town, 2016-04-18
Captain: , Chattanooga (220)

Excellent service with pristine facilities. Two unisex showers that were spotless. Fuel dock handy with low pricing and fast pumping. We were planning to stay one night and extended to relax in this town, which looks like a Hollywood movie set from 1950.

Georgetown is great, 2016-03-23
Captain: , Norfolk, VA (691)

March 23, 2016
We are at Harborwalk Marina for the fifth time. As always, it is well managed and the restroom/showers are spotless. We arrived with a 20 knot wind blowing us off the dock, but the gentleman on the dock was the best we have encountered. He took our lines, and had us safely tied in a matter of seconds, with no issue.
He also told us of a new Italian restaurant called DiAngelos. It is down the street, away from the marina, in the direction of the steel mill. We greatly enjoyed a superb meal, and while talking to the owner, Pasquale (Pat) learned of his plans. Do not miss this wonderful addition to the Georgetown restaurant scene. We look forward greatly to dining there again on our return later in the spring.

Great Place, 2016-03-13
Captain: , Oriental, NC (40)

We stopped here when they first began to put in the facilities. This marina is well-positioned, well-constructed and well-managed. The dock personnel are helpful and skilled. The marina is near shopping and restaurants in this beautiful town.

Good [lace to stop and regroup., 2016-01-16
Captain: , Norfolk, Va (195)

Pulled in for a night. Weather suggested a couple more nights. Had a diesel mechanic look at surging problems we were having, 43 ft sailboat, perkind 4-108. Took the racor and made sure it was not clogged. Noticed the new hoses I had put on in norfolk were too small. Replaced hoses and ran the engine at the dock at 2000 rpms, no surging. He is not local, and charges for it. But he is good. Earnie Owens, Cell 843-621-2371. Piggly Wigly no longer will pick up at the marinas here. wifi is fair. Good laundry room.

Great stop 8-10 Jan 2016, 2016-01-10

Very protected. Close to a lot of shops resturants and a mile from Piggly wiggly. Larry and Steve are great at getting you in and out of the basin. Very nice and clean facilities. 2nd stop here. Will be back again.

Thanks Chris. , 2015-12-19
Captain: , Gloucester (70)

Chris, the Dock-master, was as accommodating and friendly as possible. The docks, showers, laundry and bathrooms were impeccably clean and consistently tended to. As stated in all the other reviews, the marina is in a prime location. The only negative is the odor from the paper mill near by. Most days we hardly noticed it, but when we did..not pleasant.

Great fuel stop!, 2015-12-06
Captain: , Pungoteague, VA (227)

Easy in and out from ICW, best price in Georgetown, very helpful and friendly dock master.

Thank you Capt. Steve!

Us - 47 foot sailboat, 6' draft, 66' air draft.
Very pleasant staff, very helpful. Nice floating docks, close to restaurants and shopping, but a hike from provisioning. A long ways off the ocean up the river, great access to ICW. Good rates, nice showers and laundry facilities. Nice, friendly place.

As usual, the marina was well kept and well run. The Rice Paddy Restraunt is closed but the good news is that the origional staff of the Rice Paddy opened The Townhouse Restraunt with the origional manager, chef and staff. The food is as good as you can find in Charleston

Captain: , Hobe Sound, Florida (450)

We stayed here two nights to reprovision, find the right dog food, and take a breather. Staff (Larry & Chris) friendly and helpful. The place is spotless and perfectly located at the entrance to the downtown waterfront. A two block walk takes you to a neighborhood of fabulous historic homes. Nothing to complain about here.

Nice town for walking around, 2015-10-24
Captain: , Dunedin, FL (6484)

June 2012 review: Marina up a well protected creek. Solid flaoting docks, good power & wifi, extra clean restroom & shower, laundry. Right next to downtown, shopping and many restaurants from local diner & pubs to fine dining. Many nice homes and side streets to walk around. Piggly Wiggly about 1.5 miles away.

October 2015 review update: Georgetown first survived a fire and now a flood in good shape. Facility still very clean, staff still very helpful with docking with a strong current. When docking inside the docks, may be a good idea to back into a spot as it can get very crowded and difficult to manuver if you want to leave early in the morning.

Nothing to Add, 2015-09-23
Captain: , North Charleston, SC (622)

There's nothing I can add to the other reviews, they pretty much say it all. If you're stopping in Georgetown (it was our destination), this is the marina to stay at. You can walk around the town, eat in the restaurants, and still be close to your boat.

09/23/15 - We stopped in again on our way home from North Carolina. It's a first class operation for sure. Everything is nearly new and very clean. The showers are among the best we have seen. Staff was very friendly and helpful. And of course it's right in the historic district of Georgetown.

Beautiful town, 2015-09-15
Captain: , Seven Oaks, South Carolina (245)

2015-09-15: Update: Received an email from Chris apologizing for the problems and stating they were working on resolving the issues with power and WiFi.
2015-09-05: Very close to restaurants and museums. Very nice people and atmosphere. Trouble with power to boat as breakers kept tripping on dock. No different load now than other locations. WiFi is Terrible! Very, very, v e r y SLOW.

Nice, but --, 2015-09-07
Captain: , Hollywood (360)

Very convenient, and well sheltered from wakes and such. They no longer give discounts for 3 days or anything else. One of the 50 amp power pedestals kept blowing several times a day, from less than 45 amps.

Fascinating history, 2015-08-15
Captain: , Honolulu (531)

Stayed 7/21/15 - $1.75 per foot. As the name suggests it is located right on the Harbor Walk in historic Georgetown, good floating docks, clean modern facilities. The Rice Museum is very informative, even though the diaramas are a little dated. Lots of harbor front eateries and shopping.

Beautiful historic town, 2015-08-06
Captain: , New Bern (318)

Capt' Ron gives a mean tour of the area down to the lighthouse/beach. I'm not much of touristy guy, but it was great having someone else manage the boat while I sat back and enjoyed! He and his wife Fran are cruisers/neighbors here and Chris and staff will treat you right. Facilities were kept very clean during my stay.

Great little marina, 2015-08-03
Captain: , Wilmington, NC (185)

Very accomodating and helpful staff. Also very knowledgeable about their beautiful little town. Their wifi is a little slow and intermitent, but it would be a shame to waste the visit on the internet anyway.

Great small town marina., 2015-08-01
Captain: , Phoenix, AZ (960)

Great little marina. They are very accommodating. We loved the town so much we stayed 2 months. We would stay here in the future. Only issue was the smell from the Paper Plant.

Loved this place!, 2015-06-27
Captain: , Onset, MA (90)

Great find-- small marina adjacent to boardwalk and historic downtown Georegtown. Several restaurants, shops, museums to see. Very quaint. Had the best Shrimp N' Grits ever at the River Room (thanks to Larry, the dockmaster, who sent us there.) Very clean and modern lounge and bathrooms.

Excellent dock and town!, 2015-06-22
Captain: , Beaufort SC (20)

This is one of the nicest, cleanest marinas that we have visited. We arrived Sunday afternoon and was greeted by the Dock Master who helped us get tied up. The dock is very close to the showers which, by the way, are very clean! The showers are huge! It felt so good to shower in a space that didn't feel like a closet! Again, everything was very clean.
After showers and a nap we ventured down the street to find dinner. Georgetown is rather quiet on Sunday evenings, however, we found "Five Rivers Restaurant" and they were happy to serve us even though it was almost 9 p.m. The food was excellent! The service was great also!
Monday morning, my wife walked to Thomas Cafe and purchased breakfast for us. The food was delicious! Both restaurants were very reasonably priced.
We can't wait to return to Georgetown for a longer visit. It is a very charming town with an exceptional marina!

First rate - highly recommend, 2015-06-19
Captain: , St. Petersburg, FL (201)

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Georgetown is worth a visit and the marina is first rate (for the things I care about - heads/showers/laundry). People are extremely nice (not just the marina staff but the locals as well).

Great 2 day stopover, 2015-06-02
Captain: , Daytona (410)

May 12,2015

Easy in/easy out marina. Extremely clean and well kept facility. The dock master was very informative and helpful during our stay. Georgetown is a short walk away with shops, restaurants and antique stores. We treated ourselves to some fresh scallops, right off the boat. Great stop for a few days.

Super Immaculate, 2015-05-21
Captain: , Petoskey MI (240)

If you can get dockage here, I recommend you stay. Super friendly. Restrooms and laundry as clean as it gets. Close to shopping, restaurants, and fish market. Georgetown is not to be missed.

20150427 3 day visit, 2015-05-02
Captain: , Colonial Beach, VA (640)

Stayed three nights. It is one of our favorite places. Everyone has there interests and everything they have is perfect, including most importantly a professional and friendly staff. I must give them 4 vice 5 stars because they do not have good wifi nor a courtesty car. It is getting competitive on the waterway and the best will come to the top. I think Harborwalk Marina will continue to be in the top and hope they will offer a better wifit and a coutesty car soon.

Great stop for snowbirds (Great job Steve!), 2015-04-28
Captain: , US East Coast (1026)

I was running late and Steve (the dockmaster) was very accommodating. He waited for me a bit after hours, besides helping me with the slip, he also didn't mind to allow me to fuel up, right before I docked. He gave me a quick overview on what's around and where to eat.

Very pleased, we'll be sure to comeback.

Excellent marina, 2015-04-26
Captain: , guilford CT (40)

Great Marina, super nice and helpful staff and price of diesel at $2.37 gallon (if you buy 500 gls or more).
We stopped about 2 weeks ago and even got some free fresh tuna from returning fishermen!!!
It does not get any better than that. We will go back for sure

Great stop - 4/15-16/15, 2015-04-21
Captain: , Atlanta (770)

Great marina in downtown Georgetown, right at the riverwalk. Stores, restaurants, museums all close by. Clean, new facilities. Easy in-out to very sheltered marina.

Excellent facilities and location!, 2015-04-15
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (2709)

Update Apr 2015 - Everthing is still as great as before. Dockmaster, Chris, is always helpful and friendly. A fire destroyed some of the waterfront buildings, but Front Street still has a lot to offer.

I won't repeat all the good info in the previous reviews, except to say that the new laundry, shower facilities are some of the best we have seen in many marina visits up and down the ICW.

A Great Stop for Us, 2015-03-27
Captain: , Stuart, FL (909)

Tom Law, ARION, 03/25/2015
Chris helped us tie up and settle in. There is virtually no current inside the docks. Docks are in great shape. Walking distance to downtown. Great fresh fish and shrimp store just down the waterfront away from town.

This is a favorite stop of ours one day north of Charleston.

Excellent on all counts, 2015-01-19
Captain: , Penetanguishene (95)

Wonderful small marina with very clean docks, washrooms and laundry facilities.

Walking distance to historic downtown attractions, restaurants, shopping, 2 blocks away from Independent fresh seafood market.

Lots of local art and one-of-a-kind items available in unique shops.

Harbormaster can assist you in finding just about any service you might need, and if you need supplies, they have access to a whole catalogues' worth of marine supplies, parts and accesssories delivered overnight.

One of our most enjoyable stays.

Very nice marina in historic town, 2015-01-11

Nice marina, Steve helped us dock, Clean modern bathrooms. Fresh fish 2 blocks away. Beautiful historic homwes. Nice small maritime museum downtown. We did not go to any restaurants. Piggly wiggly was a hike.

Over-nighter, 2014-12-20
Captain: , Henderson Harbor, NY (431)

A one night stop but very nice marina manager, a convenient location, with super clean restrooms and laundry room. There is a very good selection of restuarants/bars within 10 minutes. I would stop again but for 2 nights the downtown area is worth checking out for an afternoon.

The most disgraceful action I have ever seen !!!!, 2014-11-24
Captain: , Virginia Beach (52)

On Nov 14th, 2014 I arrived at Georgetown, SC and pulled up to Harbourwalk Marina. I didn,t call ahead because the boat ahead of me already did And the dock hands were already on the pier. I sail singlehandedly and I was preparing my boat's dock lines and fenders to pull into the marina. I went back to the helm to bring the boat about when the helm froze up, the wind was about 15 MPH and current at approximately 2 knts. By shifting the engine from forward to reverse and adjusting the RPMs I was able to inch my way tward the dock. When the Harborwwalk dockworker ran over and said that the marina was full and I could not land my boat. I explanded that my steering had frozen up and I needed to tie up my boat to check it out. Still he refused to let me approach. I was trapped by the marina on one side and morred boats behind me. I could not leave the helm to check out the problem. Again by going fwd and rev I managed to get to an another dock where no boats were tied up. As I approached this fuel dock the dock hand ran back to land over to the other pier which turened out to be the fuel pier of this marina. He again said that I could not land my boat. That he was full up and the boats were approaching. He called BoatUS and they were approaching my starboard side. While we were trying to hook together my boat almost rammed their pier while the BoatUS Captain took fast and deciseive action to pull away from the pier while myself and the BoatUS deck hand were still tying the boats together. They towed me to to Hazard Marine and even though they were also full they took me in. After securing my boat, a mechanic from Hazard Marine came to my rescue and analized the problem. He resolved the problem in mere seconds. Part of my love of sailing is enjoying the people I meet and they are almost always ready to help a disabled boater. Most times you don't need to be disabled. Just talking about your issues and someone will be in there pulling your boat apart in seconds.

Summing up I think the dockhands at Harborview Marine give boating courtesy a bad name. Shame on them.

Great marina and Great Town, 2014-11-06
Captain: , Essex (140)

Arrived here October 29th for one night. The marina is excellent. Great dockhands and the washroom/shower facilities while small was the best we experienced between Essex Ct and Georgetown.
The town was a great surprise. Something out of a 1940s movie with a great variety of restaurants. And the shops were definitely more interesting (e.g. not the same inventory in each shop targeted at tourists) than what we would find in towns of equal size.
Would definitely recommend the marina and the town.

Well run marina in heart of historic georgetown, 2014-10-29
Captain: , Fort Pierce, Florida (60)

We made a point of staying here for the Georgetown Wooden Boat Festival, as its a consistently excellent facility and so close to all the great sites in Georgetown. Great, friendly town with lots of wonderful restaurants and shops nearby. Huge shaded park, great for pets, not too far from marina. Spotlessly clean facilities. Professionally run marina.

Stayed one night here,10-23-14. Great heads/showers, excellent dock help, pretty town, and an enjoyable breakfast at Aunny's. Fun, if not gourmet. Plenty of nice little shops within easy walking distance. No current to speak of, so easy on, easy off. Part floating, part fixed docks.(Fuel Dock).

Very nice and close to town, 2014-10-08
Captain: , Little River, SC (208)

Stayed 10-05-14. Steve handled our docking and did a great job getting us set up. Georgetown is a great little city but not much open on Sunday. Ate at Wildfish Grill (closest restaurant to marina) and had a great meal. Thomas Cafe (under clock tower) for breakfast was one of the best ever!

Small and Terrific, 2014-08-24

This marina is easy to get into with next to no current and plenty of depth. The best part of the marina though is the spotless dockmaster's office, laundry, and bathhouse. I believe this marina was remodled in 2008 and it still looks like it was just finished. An added bonus is Luke the lab who is the offical treat taker.

We met a lot of nice people at this marina and enjoyed our time there. There are lots of great resturants to eat at. Just ask Steve for a recomendation as we enjoyed all of his suggestions.

Great place to stop!, 2014-06-17
Captain: , Sanford, Fl. (887)

Stopped here again in June of 2014. This place is always a favorite stop! Chris and Steve are always willing to go beyond the call for their customers!!
September and October 2013. We have been here a number of times and have come to think of this area as our "northern" home. One of the things that speaks volumes about the marina is that every time we come the same people are still there. Chris and his staff are eager to help a boater in any way they can. We were here during the downtown fire. Even though several business were destroyed there was no damage done to any of the marinas. There are still plenty of great dining choices and lots of things to do. Harborwalk will get some additional new docks probably by next summer. The town just could not be any more friendly.

We stopped here again on 5/9/13. The same staff is still here which says a lot! there are a couple of new restaurants in town. It is just an overall delightful place. The marina staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. The marina itself is in very good condition with wide floating docks, good electric, water, cable and WiFi. Short walk puts you right in the middle of lots of restaurants, museums and pristine old homes. The Pig is about a 3 mile round trip, but the streets have good sidewalks and plenty of shade. We recommend Portofino's for some really good Italian food. We also highly recommend Low Country River tours by Cap'n Rod. The man was born and raised here and really knows his history! We stopped again the end of September for several days. Every thing is still great. I forgot to mention that Independent Sea Food is about 100 yards away with fresh sea food right off the boats.

New floating docks and clean shower facility. We spent two nights here June 2014 and really enjoyed our stay. Friendly town. Visit the museums if you have time.

A nice small marina with clean facilities and a helpful and friendly staff. The historic district is adjacent to the marina which provides access to good restaurants and shopping. We will stay here again.

Excellent stop, 2014-05-31
Captain: , Bourne, Ma (230)

We found this stop to be great, close to historic district, very clean, reasonably priced, and on our intended route. We were assigned to a slip on the inside, between the shore and a pier. The manuvering to get was easy with twiin screws. It might be a little tough with single although a 42 ft sail boat was right next to us. Dock hand, also harbor master, did an excellent job helping us get in. Yes the town did experience a fire, and there are a few empty store fronts but none of this detracted from our enjoying the quaint historic once major shipping port. Also, if you stop be sure to walk the water front board walk, really nice. If everback in theis area we would definately stop again.

Nice place to stop, 2014-05-31
Captain: , Baltimore, MD (1100)

Nice stop. Fairly new floating docks, convenient to town and the shops/restaurants, easy in and out, modern and spotless bathrooms, good price and friendly staff. Chris runs a nice marina. Not sure what else you could ask for.

Pardon me if I don%u2019t see the Attraction, 2014-05-28
Captain: , Wickford RI (200)

Georgetown, SC is a congested harbor up a muddy river. Most of the downtown is shuttered or empty on Memorial Day Weekend 2014. The huge, apocalyptic looking industrial plant just upriver rumbles and roars all night. The dock hands were grumpy and didn%u2019t want to pump diesel late in the day (really? I%u2019m dropping $1000 here!), refused to secure a spring line even after 3 requests, which made a difficult and windy docking maneuver into a side show. I have been into this harbor and on this dock three times over the years, both on my boat and crewing for others, and there always seems to be an issue with the dockage, the wind, the current or something. I plan on trying some other alternative next trip.

Harborwalk Marina, 2014-05-03
Captain: , Sandwich (692)

Dock Master Chris is the most southern charming gentleman who takes a great deal of pride in his marina and property. The bath/shower/laundry facilities and dock master quarters are the cleanest in all of South Carolina! Thank you for another most enjoyable overnight.

Georgetown is a quaint historic village with numerous harbor side restaurants to choose from and an eclectic mix of shops. There is a board walk along the harbor with adjoining parks. There was a terrible fire that consumed 4 historic buildings, its businesses, restaurants and shops. The town is committed to rebuild. The only drawback to this lovely stop is the ugly, noisy and sometimes smelly paper mill and steel mill.

Great place, 2014-04-15
Captain: , Fort Myers Beach, FL (361)

We stayed overnight during inclement weather. It truly is a protected harbor. Friendly, helpful staff. Nice and clean bathrooms and showers.
Highly recommend.

Put your fenders down before docking as wind and current are strong., 2014-04-11
Captain: , Gloucester, Virginia (100)

We arrived about 5:00pm and needed to pump out. We were pushed into the pump out dock. As it was near closing time and given the wind and current, dock master had us tie up at pump out dock for the night. Walked 1.25 miles to Piggly Wiggly for groceries. Called cab to return; after waiting outside for 45 minutes and no cab, we asked police on site, who were investigating a stabbing in the parking, if they would take us to boat. They did. Next morning we scooted over to fuel dock for diesel. Clean showers and helpful dock master. River Room restaurant was good except for crab cakes.

Near Historic Downtown, 2014-04-09
Captain: , Deltaville, VA (602)

Harborwalk Marina has everything I look for in a marina. Wide floating docks, helpful dockhand, and all the standard amenities. No ships store or restaurant but you are only one block from the historic downtown area with lots of shops and restaurants. River Room Restaurant was A+.
No depth problems with approach or at the docks. This is a small marina so do call ahead for reservation.

Georgetown's Best, 2013-11-29
Captain: , Wilmington, NC (250)

We stayed 3 nights. Everyone was very helpful. The bath house is very clean. The docks are in great shape. Mostly facing docks. Easy on/off. Easy walking distance to Georgetown's restaurants and shops. Try the Big Tuna or The River Room. Walk one block the other way from town and you'll find Independence Seafood. Go to the Rice Museum and buy a bag of Carolina rice. It really is better. Fresh shrimp and steamed rice made for a nice dinner. Wal-mart is a $7 cab ride.

Clean and Well Kept, 2013-11-28
Captain: , Whitby (370)

Stopped here for a night on my way south. A small marina but well kept, clean, and in good repair. Chris was very helpful and knew what he was doing.
Shower / washroom arrangement was perfect. They've figured out that putting a shower, sink, and toilet in one "unisex" room is the best way to go. Works great. Those so inclined can even shower with a friend. :)
A little expensive for my budget, but would definitely stop here again.

Good stopover, 2013-11-07
Captain: , Pasadena,Maryland (510)

Convenient location. Marina facilities are clean. Floating docks are in good condition (all transients are on the floating docs). Fixed docks are in poor condition. Location adjacent to downtown area- plenty of resturants. Visit Rice Museum. Did not notice paper mill or steel plant. Waccamaw river is nice trip.

While crusing north on the ICW we were looking for our next stop. Georgetown was a wonderful, pleasant surprise. Great marina, wonderful resturants & super friendly folks made for a wonderful stay. We will be back,,,in fact we extended our stay another day

Harborwalk Marina, 2013-06-11
Captain: , Newport, RI (230)

On a northbound transit to Norfolk from Charleston, we found this Gem on ActiveCaptain. Called ahead on the cell phone. Docks are brand new Bellingham floating docks in incredible condition and fuel was the cheapest I saw during the whole trip. The facilities are new and the staff is very friendly. Met Captain Rod who offers tours on his boat and he let us use his 1956 Beetle to drive to the grocery store. Stayed two nights here. Very historic town with great food.

Not 5-Star, 2013-05-29
Captain: , Solomons, MD (882)

Everybody seems to love this marina -- except me.
*Everybody said they have new floating docks. They do, but we were stuck at an old fixed one.

*Everybody said the staff was great. It took them 30 minutes to dock our boat, then when they discovered we did not have a way to get off, it took an other 20 minutes to re-dock us.

*Everybody said the staff would do anythng to make our stay better. Well, after all that trouble ddocking they asked us to move the following day so they could have access to their fuel dock when the big 200 foot cruise liner took up the outside.

Sorry, but we didn't have a 5-star experience. We'll probably look for a different solution when we return to Georgetown.

A Real Gem - Updated to 5 Star, 2013-05-15
Captain: , Longboat Key, FL (955)

Stopped here again 5/13 and really like this place. The reason I bumped it to 5 stars is the dockmaster. Simply the best -- helpful, knowledgable, and goes out of his way to make your stay pleasant.

Try the Rice Paddy restaurant in town for an excellent meal -- great local seafood dishes, good wine list and quality service.

From 10/11 -- Georgetown is a lovely little town and Harborwalk Marina makes it easy to enjoy it. New floating docks, a REALLY clean shower and head facility, laundry, and super easy walk into town to enjoy some of the unique shops and restaurants. There is a big paper mill nearby so if the wind is blowing out of the west, be prepared to deal with an "unusual" scent. The dockmaster here is one of the hardest working guys (and nicest) I've ever run accross.

Quiet and friendly, 2013-05-01
Captain: , Marathon, FL (376)

We stayed here on a Monday night and it was very quet which is what we were looking for. Just completed an overnight sail from Georgia and many storms in the area caused us to look for a place to recoop. Chris, the marina manager, is great and very helpful.

Great town with lots of restaurants in easy walking distance.

They try to accommodate everyone, 2013-04-30
Captain: , Friday Harbor, WA (490)

The previous review had a ruff stay but my guess is they try to get as many boat in as they can. I also have stayed at the fixed docks when they were full. There are FREE dock a little further in if you do not like the fixed docks. The town is reason to stay here. Full of historical home and really a lot of restaurants.

Reservations Meant Nothing, 2013-04-29
Captain: , Kinsale (130)

This marina seems to cater to powerboats by offering them discounts and preferential treatment. Although we'd called ahead and were told we'd have a floating dock, we were given a rickety fixed dock with no ladder. We sometimes had to climb in/out with an over 5 foot difference between our boat deck and land. Although we were given a floating dock the next day, we were aground in the original slip and had to dredge as we went. The bath/showers were good and clean but there were only two. Everything in town is within easy walking distance, and there is a lot to see and do. We especially liked the delicious meals at Crazy Fish and the live music at Limpin' Jane's. Georgetown in worthy of better marinas.

Nice Cozy Spot, 2013-04-25
Captain: , Lighthouse Point, FL (177)

Friendly, easy docking close to town and lots of transients looper and otherwise. Nice little town with some great homes on the street behind town. Basic facilities, but very clean.
River Room in town has excellent food and wine.

Big Thank You to Steve, 2013-04-22
Captain: , Dover DE (145)

We had called Sunday morning in route from Charleston for dockage later on Sunday and Steve said he had space for us. After a long, very windy transit we got in late in the day and Steve helped us onto the dock. During the conversation we found out that a 60' had been there earlier and wanted the spot Steve was holding for us. The captain on the other boat gave Steve a hard time but he held the spot for us. Steve would not have been able to reach us by phone to confirm we were in fact coming in as we had no service. He held the spot for us and we were very grateful and exhausted. A man of his word!!!

Great location, easy access, 2013-04-15
Captain: , Bear, DE (230)

This is a nice, small marina. Downtown historic Georgetown is a block away, with about 10 restaurants. We ate at Limpin' Janes, which was very nice and one of the few open on Sunday night.

The closest grocery store, a Piggly Wiggly, is an easy 1.25 mile walk. Not a great store, with limited fresh produce, but the friendly Piggly staff may give you a ride to and from the marina if they have time. We asked the manager, and he seemed genuinely sorry that he couldn't drive us because one of his staff was sick that day so they were extra busy.

The marina seems to have recently upgraded their floating dock and pumpout, and are offering a discount to tie up to the older fixed dock. MTOA discount is 10%.

Tiny Marina - Big Return, 2013-03-13
Captain: , St. Thomas, USVI (624)

Such a nice staff and very helpful - stayed late to help us get in and situated. This marina is right in the place you want to be within walking distance of great restaurants and the picturesque town. We will be back for a longer visit.

This was our second stop (1/8-9/13) at this marina and we will be back for more. Chris, the dock manager, is a wonderful person with a wealth of knowledge to share and a friendly disposition that makes you feel like family. The facilities are clean and the town is charming. Be sure to have a meal at The Rice Paddy restaurant where you will have an excellent meal.

MTOA Discount, 2013-01-14

Harborwalk offered a 15 or 20 % discount for MTOA members. I do not remember which it was. Very good, convenient stop in Georgetown.

Captain: , Solomons, MD (464)

Stayed 11-27-2012 thru 12-01-2012. Professional staff, clean facilities, right downtown with the best WiFi of any place I've ever stayed.

Close to everything. Pumpout is blocked by what appeared to be long term transients. Fuel dock is not floating. Dockmaster Chris very helpful.

Love Georgetown and Harborwalk Marina, 2012-11-20
Captain: , Fort Pierce Florida (300)

The marina is a very simple and clean facility located in the heart of Georgetown. Despite the simplicity the place is great and the staff is the hardest working and most helpful we have encountered. Like the previous review they ran from another boat to help us tie up. Being so close to downtown is also a big plus. It is a quaint town with lots of shops and restaurants which are just minutes from the marina. Don't miss the Kudzo Bakery and the Krazy Fish Grill is phenominal. Its right around the corner from the marina and the shrimp and grits are the best we have eaten. The other food is also excellent. Didn't want to leave.

SUPERB STAFF, 2012-11-17
Captain: , Hampton, VA (321)

This marina doesn't have a pool or some other amenities of others, but makes up for it with the dockmaster Chris. I've never seen a dockhand work harder to take care of his customers. He actually ran between jobs! Even if Georgetown wasn't a great place to visit, I'd come to Harborwalk just for the service!

a little rough, 2012-11-15
Captain: , Muskegon, MI (980)

This marina is a work in progress. We stayed on a fixed dock, while secure was a little rough around the edges. They are planing to replace them this winter with floating dock. This Marina is easy walking distance to town, had good shower facilities and a helpful staff.

A nice place to stay, 2012-11-07
Captain: , Green Cove Springs, FL (180)

Only stayed one night but it was very enjoyable. I wish I had more time to see Georgetown. Looks like a nice place to visit. The marina was very clean and Bill was very helpful. Bathrooms were clean and. Nice large porch to sit in the rocking chairs and watch the water and wildlife. I would highly recommend staying here and will the next time we are up this way. I just hope I can stay a few days next time.

Small, convenient, clean, friendly, 2012-11-06
Captain: , Oriental (270)

We are docked here for tonight and tomorrow night and happy to have electric hook up to run our heat! (It is 35 degrees tonight!)

Bill is very helpful and managed to help us dock and help a trawler at the fuel dock serving all of us well.

The bathrooms are very nice, very clean, great shower head, plenty of hot water (just wait for it at first), and the docks and area around the marina is very well kept and clean. There are just two bathrooms with shower/sink/toilet. There are two washers and two dryers $1.75 each. Another boater using them said they are very large capacity. There are wonderful rockers on the broad front porch to the marina and a huge screen tv in the small marina office/lounge with comfortable seating and a book exchange.

The location is great. You are in the Georgetown Historic area.

This really is one of the nicest marinas we have experience since June on our trip to Maine and then this far south so far.

Great location, 2012-10-31
Captain: , Rock Hall, Md (230)

We had planned on staying for two nights but Hurricane Sandy forced us to stay a week. Couldn't have asked for a better place. Chris, the dock hand was great. We were one of three boats that came in at once. He single handedly helped all of us get fuel and tie up. The place is clean with cable tv, laundry and great showers. The best part was we were in walking distance to great restaurants, a beautiful Harbor Walk, a theatre, nice stores, banks, and ice cream shops. We got fresh shrimp right off the boats just two doors down. The chamber of commerce is next door. Saw a live performance at the theatre. The owner of Piggly Wiggly supermarket picked us up for food shopping. Loved Georgetown.

Cleanest Marina I've seen, 2012-10-16
Captain: , Boulder City, NV (259)

Stayed here 10-15-12. There are two heads with showers..very clean. Nice floating docks and very helpful staff. Newer commercial washers and dryers (2 each). Right in historic Georgetown but shopping is a mile or so away at Piggly Wiggly or Food Lion. There is also a Walmart in town.

Plenty of Restaurants in walking Distance, 2012-10-11
Captain: , Bear DE (694)

Stayed here for one night, docks are new and the Restroom was clean. There is only one Shower here. I belive the price of $1.75 ft is too high for this marina.

Southern hospitality, 2012-10-05
Captain: , Amelia Island, FL (507)

What a great marina! Harborwalk is located within an easy walk to all of downtown Georgetown. The facilities are clean; the floating docks wide and in great condition; and the staff most helpful. If you like ice cream, go to Sweeties, just a short walk from the marina. If you like history, Georgetown has it. Take Capt. Rod's guided tour of the rivers. You won't be disappointed.

Small town wonderful stop, 2012-09-30

Very clean marina. Close to resturants. Small store in town for basic galley items. One of the best local seafood markets just a short walk from marina. Limited boat repair items close by

Would like to have stayed longer, 2012-07-29
Captain: , Cape Coral, FL (231)

We stayed one night (7/29/12) and would like to have stayed longer. The marina is geared towards transient business and the staff does an excellent job of making you feel welcome. The floating transient dock is failrly small, but is well maintained. The in-town location is great and the marina is well sheltered. Be careful to leave the Red over Green channel marker to port, as the marina is not on the preferred channel. I erred here, but Steve at Harborwalk quickly corrected me over the radio. My bad, and nice save Steve! Aside fom that, there is good water in the channel and we had no problem with our five foot draft (at low tide).

Tricky Dock Plan but Nice, 2012-06-10
Captain: , Somers Point (460)

Georgetown is a must and this marina is right there. Small place and they can really pack you in tightly which can lead to some interesting ins and outs. I was docked bow in perpendicular to a catamaran whos davit was very close to my stern. Lucky the wind was not blowing the next morning or it would have been a tricky exit. Other boats had equally interesting (but not impossible) maneuvering.

A VERY PLEASANT SURPRISE, 2012-05-12
Captain: , East Falmouth, MA (1533)

Everything is new or almost new. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The rest rooms are very clean and very big. The laundry is one of the nicest ones we've seen, and it is very close to town. A real little gem.

Great little Marina!, 2012-04-17
Captain: , St. Somewhere (530)

Came in just for an afternoon. Got fuel, pumped out, water, did lanundry and went to Piggly Wiggly and Buzz's Roost before leaving Georgetown in 1 afternoon. Cleanest restrooms you will find anywhere. Occupying part of the dock for about 4 hours and they were nice enough to not charge for such a long fuel stop. 40lb bag of ice is the best deal around....5 bucks and some change. We plan on coming back and staying a few days and enjoying more of Georgetown.

Cleanest, neatest marina, 2012-04-06

Relatively new inprovements to a small marina with amenities you would expect: floating docks, clean rest rooms & showers, laundry facilities and super dock master and crew. We left our boat there for two months over the Christmas holiday at 1/3 the cost of Charleston. The historic portion of town is a five minute walk with many shops and a variety of restaurants. Have stayed in Georgetown before and will stay here on our next stop over.

new improvments, New Dockmaster, 2012-02-12
Captain: , Wilmington Deleware (330)

We were so glad we stopped at this marina. there are new flaoting docks and dock house. Dave, the dockhand, has been here for a very long time and is the most wonderful man, made us feel like we had come home. From this marina it is an easy walk to town and lots of great restaurants.
Our second stay,The New Dockmaster (Chris) gives you the same feel the Harborwalk Marina has had for years. GREAT JOB ! !

Wonderful Marina and Place to Rest, 2012-01-31
Captain: , Boston, MA (50)

Came in to leave our sailboat while we drove home for Christmas and stayed two months. A great small marina with very clean facilities and friendly staff. Best dock help and line handling we have had in a long time. Easy stroll to town restaurants and short walk to grocery shopping and rental cars. We strongly recommend this marina and town.

Good overnight stay, 2012-01-22
Captain: , Hampton, VA (271)

No need for 5 stars, not many amenities. Just a good basic dock, close to town (But not to a grocery store on foot), Clean showers, Fuel and pump-out available. A bit high priced for what you get.

Very friendly dockmaster and wonderful town, 2012-01-05
Captain: , Hampton, VA (2502)

We came to Georgetown from offshore to revisit the town this past June. We had last been here nearly 30 years ago and stayed at the "same" marina, although then it was basically a gas station.

We tied up to the face dock and the dockmaster was there to take our lines in the order we preferred...something that annoys us sometimes since most dockhands don't understand our boat.

Everything was clean, and the town hadn't really changed. We loved biking through town and even out to Walmart. Everyone was friendly in town.

Note that the harbour here is full of anchored/moored boats. This makes turning around interesting for larger boats such as ours.

Classic southern hospitality, 2011-12-14
Captain: , Galesville, MD (441)

The Marina is well maintained, clean and welcoming. Both Mike and Chris were helpful. Very dog friendly. Showers and laundry were easy to use. The town of Georgetown was worth the stop. The market, and department store and bakery and restaurants....all made a very enjoyable stop. There are no free docks. Please do not use the dingy dock as an overnight dock. It gives boater a bad name, and yes the town does notice the abuse of the dingy dock.

Nice marina in a great little town, 2011-11-20
Captain: , Key West, FL (748)

We have heard varying reviews of Georgetown, but have never stopped (always took the outside route right by it). But this is a deserving destination. Try it out. Fantastic breakfast (best pancakes I have ever had) at Coffee Break Cafe (run by a former veterinarian and her family), great homemake pies at Aunty's, and about a dozen other worthy dinner and lunch spots. Quaint Southern charm as you walk the neighborhoods or browse the small shops. Not especially inexpensive, but not outrageous either. We stayed two days and were glad we did.

Small But Close to Town, 2011-11-18
Captain: , Winthrop, MA (896)

Great help from Chris, Dockmaster. Winds were blowing 25-30 and he made it easy to get in. Great location for doing town. Very clean rest rooms and laundry. Piggly Wiggly will send a courtsey car to pick you up.

4 stars for location, 2011-11-13
Captain: , City Island New York (600)

Stayed 2 nights here and had plenty to see and do. The marina is busy and you are packed in but everyone leaves early the next day so it is not a problem. The showers and laundry are spotless. Book exchange. In 2 minutes you are in town which has some lovely old (1700-1800) houses as well as the oldest Live Oak tree in SC. It is a delightful town to stroll around with some good stores, cafes and restaurants. We caught the show at the Strand theatre in town which was fun as it was all local amateurs performing and the audience seemed to know them all! This is a not to be missed stop, dock hands are friendly and helpful.

Greatly enjoyed the overnght stay, 2011-11-02
Captain: , Daytona Beach, FL (533)

Called ahead on the way south on the ICW and they told me that I would be arriving after they closed but to just tie up on the end-tie and see them in the morning. A great dock, a great location and very convenenient. Was a great transient stopover . Will stay again.

Favorite stop, 2011-10-21
Captain: , Marco Island, FL (1135)

This marina has become our favorite in G'town. The marina is very clean, dockhand is great and the town is right there.

One of our new best places, 2011-09-17
Captain: , Isle of Palms, SC (219)

Got here yesterday afternoon from Isle of Palms, SC with 4 other boats. Dock hand- Dave- for whom the new marina office is named since he has worked here for over 50 years- gave us expert help docking. Very sheltered from wind and current. Office, bath and bathrooms 1yr old and dock 3 yrs. Great condition. Many very good eating places within a several block walk -- most over hanging the water. Will stay tonight also so we can try some more of the restuarants.

GREAT LITTLE MARINA, 2011-08-04
Captain: , Montreal, PQ, Canada (560)

We really enjoyed our stopover in Geogetown. This marina has seen recent upgrades and everything is virtually new. New docks and Wahroom/washer-dryer extremely clean.

Looking for a place to stop in downtown Georgetown? This is it!

Pardon the Scent, 2011-06-21
Captain: , Baddeck, Nova Scotia (160)

They call it "the smell of money" but some people might find the smell from the papermill distracting. Never mind, the Harborwalk Marina is a clean well run facility well positioned as a stop over on your ICW transit. Unfortunately this neat, well kept town has fallen on hard economic times and many of the shops and restarants were closed and emptied during our visit. THe historic downtown is worth a stroll but if you have been in Savannah or Charleston it won't take you long

Great Marina, will stop again!, 2011-05-31
Captain: , Madison, Ohio (400)

This was our first time at Harborwalk, and we will definitly stop here again. Very helpful dockmaster, docks in great shape, very clean restroom/showers, and right next to down town.

Great little marina, 2011-05-28
Captain: , Pentwater, MI (415)

Georgetown is a great stop north or south bound on the ICW. We have stayed at Harborwalk 2 times and had great service from Chris the dockmaster. Be sure and try the fried grouper at the Big Tuna Raw Bar on the Harborwalk.

Fine Stop and First Class, 2011-04-28
Captain: , Lancaster VA (393)

First class facility. New floating docks and laundy and restrooms/showers in very good conditon. Piggly Wiggly grocery store pciked us up and returned us to the marina. All of downtoan just a short walk - good inexpensive breakfast at Thomas's Cafe; seafood at Big Tuna was good, but not outstanding, Kundzu Bakery on King Street should not be missed. Staff is very helpful. The marina can be tight if it is full. The outer face docks can be rocky with a southerly wind.

First Class Marina, 2011-04-25
Captain: , Mullica Hill, NJ (688)

The marina is right downtown in Geargetown. You can walk to both the shopping area and the historic houses within two blocks of the marina. Mike, the dockmaster knows his stuff. The docks are floating and well protected. There is some current, but passing boats seem to be curteous and there was no wake problem. Will stay here for several days to visit Geargetown in the fall. Would have stayed longer but the town is closed on Sunday.

Nicew Stop, 2011-04-18
Captain: , Between Boats, USA (623)

Taking a spring mini-cruise and stayed here. Dock hand was very good $1.75/ft plus power. Biked to Piggly Wiggly and ate at Big Tuna (Best fried seafood platter ever... everything LIGHTLY fried) walked around the harbor walk for a while until... the no-see-ums ATTACKED at sundown. Unisex bathroom is a bit odd, but nice, big and very clean. If you want to leave early, get there late or you may be deep in the hole and need help getting out. (or ask for face dock). Overall it's a great place to stay a night or two. Close to everything and a nice little seaside resort town like Beaufort, only with a couple of giant factories in town.

Good old town, 2011-04-15
Captain: , chesapeake beach md. (85)

nice place. good water People really nice. Town is right there. Good food cold beer. Marina small and clean. floating docks. Also good place drop the hook. A must is BIG Tuna bar and resturant.

Great place to stop over, 2011-03-30
Captain: , Charleston, SC (80)

This is a very nice marina with new docks, new dockmaster office and showers and a very helpful staff. It is walking distance to downtown Georgetown and there are some great places to eat and/or eat. It is also worth the time to take a walk around town and enjoy some of the southern charm and architecture.

The only drawback to the marina is that it can be rather tight and somtimes they stack the boats in like a NY parking lot attendant. Getting in and out can be a bit of a challenge but the staff is always there to provide assistance.

Mixed Experiences, 2011-03-23
Captain: , Atlantic Coast (341)

First time we stopped in Fall 2010 staff was somewhat standoffish - didn't seem very warm and inviting. Second time (different staff) was complete opposite - couldn't be more friendly and helpful. Facilities overall are pretty good. Hertz car rental walking distance away.

A super location, 2011-02-08
Captain: , millsboro DE (300)

This facility is another perfect marina that has it all

Harborwalk Marina, 2011-01-31

Excellent Marina, People are very professional. Town is a great place to spend time. No car is needed, you can walk or bike to everywhere.

Top notch operation, 2010-12-11
Captain: , Albemarle Sound (41)

The new docks and facilities are wonderful. I wish that all marinas were this nice. The restrooms and showers are spotless. The staff is friendly. Now lets talk about the location. It is perfect. The marina is close to old town and if you have a bike everything is within easy reach. This is a great place to stay.

Great location, 2010-11-06
Captain: , Lansdale, PA (330)

The docks are in excellent condition and the marina is walking distance to a variety of restaurants, nice shops and small parks. We had a beautiful view of the sunset.

Nice Town -, 2010-10-30
Captain: , Southport, NC (98)

Very nice amenities the docks are new (floating), the rest room and shower are all new and the place is well maintained. Chris, dock master, was very experienced and helpful. Nice restaurants are close within a couple of blocks.
I would stay there the next time I am in the area.

Good Location, 2010-09-28
Captain: , Green Cove Springs FL (1380)

Chris does a super job handling your lines and as dock master. Experience and personable fellow. Enjoyed our stay on outside of floating face dock. Easy walk into town. Facilities very nice. Pumpout is in a 90 deg corner of floating face dock with only a 30 ft hose. You need to let them know early when arriving if you want to use it as a big Mega-Yacht clocked it on one side of the 90 and another boat came in and blocked the other side of the 90 Deg. A 50 ft boat like ours would be extended half off the dock bow or stern to use the pump out. Smaller boat probably no problem 15% Discount on Dockage for MTOA Members. .

Very enjoyable stop, 2010-08-16
Captain: , Warsaw, Ky (875)

We stayed here for four days over the weekend and throughly enjoyed the town.

Nice floating docks as long as you do not get put at the fuel dock, it does not float. Dockmaster Chris very helpful.

Restrooms and laundry clean and well maintained.

Less than 2 blocks from downtown. A number of good restaurants within walking distance. A great knit shop, per the Admiral, for anyone who would need one, such as the Admiral.

Number of things to see in town, Rice Museum, County museum, etc. There is a local theater group (Swamp Fox Players) who put on plays at certain times of the year. We went and throughly enjoyed the play. Go to the visitors center, next to marina, to find out where to go.

Small deli within two blocks.

Car rentals close and marina can assist.

Harborwalk, 2010-06-19
Captain: , Daytona Beach, FL (273)

Floating docks and only two blocks to town. Marina staff very friendly and helpful. We had dinner at the Rice Paddy restaurant and the service and food was great. Good WiFi and very clean laundry facilities.

great location, skilled dockmaster, 2010-06-07
Captain: , Buffalo (1144)

This was our second visit. Small, but nice. Good floating docks. very sheltered, and right downtown. A downside is that you may be smelling the stench from the paper mill if the wind is from the wrong direction. PS Make sure you visit the fish market.

Depends on where they put you, 2010-05-16
Captain: , Palm Coast (792)

Sure the new docks are pretty but I ended up in the same place as every other time we've been here - inside on the fuel dock. I was amazed when I saw all the nice new docks empty while we were tied to the old fixed dock which meant a three foot step up or down depending on the tide level.

Updated 2010, 2010-03-19
Captain: , Castine, Maine (2997)

The docks are old wooden fixed docks, not in great repair. The harbormaster stated that the docks were being removed and replaced with floating docks May 2007. The location is very good. The marina is right in Georgetown so you can walk to many restaurants, shops, store and bars. The town has some lovely homes and is nice for a walk.

2010: With new docks and the charming town this makes this a nice stop.

Deserves more that 3 stars average., 2010-02-27
Captain: , Key Biscayne FL (3049)

With the new docks and best location this is the spot. Bakery is Kudzu up a side street opposite the visitors center. Take a tour of the historic home behind the Visitors Center.

Small Marina / Closest to Center of Georgetown, 2010-02-24
Captain: , Cresent, Georgia (131)

Completely NEW. New docks, new marina office, new showers, etc. Closest marina to the center of town. If you like true Southern soul food, try Aunny's on Front Street for a treat.

Small marina with a good location, 2009-08-29
Captain: , South Portland, ME (537)

Harborwalk is right in the heart of this cute little SC town. The marina is small but has space for several large boats and plenty of water. The docks are in good condition.

Excellent, 2009-08-08
Captain: , Old Saybrook Ct (210)

came in late dock hand stay late to help us get in . very nice facility. whould recomend to any one.

Great new docks, 2009-07-04
Captain: , Marathon, FL (1213)

The new docks are terrific - and this is the closest marina to town. Morsels Market is a great specialty food store, and also has many of the basics, like paper towels, TP, etc. 1/2 a block away. Also a good bookstore in town. Good restaurants and bars.

Great Location, 2009-06-04
Captain: , New Rochelle, NY (1000)

The floating docks and building are brand new, the staff friendly and helpful and it's the closest place to the heart of town.

Georgetown Landing, 2009-03-22
Captain: , Whitehall, Mi (1754)

Friendly staff and well maintained, but not well protected from the wind (rolly).

Top notch line handler, 2008-11-19
Captain: , Belhaven, NC (363)

We entered the slip beside a large yacht. The conditions were horrible with wind and current pushing us toward the yacht. With one spingline and clear verbal instructions we made an awkward but safe landing. His last instruction, after I was already on the dock, was, " OK, Captain, you can take it out of gear now." This morning at 28 degrees, I declined to use the temporary porta-potty.

Bathroom Construction, 2008-10-24
Captain: , San Antonio Texas (46)

We arrived yesterday to find a large construction crew demolishing the existing bathrooms and showers. They have begun construction on a new improved facility. All of the docks are transient and they are floating with cable TV included. We'll be back and are looking forward to the new bathrooms and showers

Good folks, close to town, 2008-05-08
Captain: , Chesapeake Bay (592)

They are in the middle of a renovation (May 2008). Don't go there expecting amenities. And while they have new floating docks, a fair share of their dockage is at fixed docks (not really a problem--just a fact). Their proximity to Front St. in Georgetown is the best reason to stop here. I'll be back.

Shopworn facilities but friendly folks, 2008-01-21
Captain: , Oriental, NC (231)

Georgetown is a beautiful old town, and the historical section with nice restaurants is within walking distance of the marina. The marina, however, has little to recommend it. There's fuel but little else, and the shower facilities are shabby but reasonably clean. The people were friendly and helpful.

Terrible facilities , 2007-11-26
Captain: , Wilmington, DE (11)

Picture of marina in marinas.com is misleading. Picture is of docks in front of condos - not these docks. Docks are fixed not floating. Basically you are paying for a tieup and electric. Other facitilites are minimal
