Reviews for Harbortown Marina
Great place to park for the winter, 2016-11-16
Captain: , Bayfield, WI and the ICW (1380)

This is not a real marina, as it has no services except for the Fresh Market about a mile away, one of the best grocery store/delis we have ever been to. It makes Harris Teeter look like a 7-11 store. No showers, toilets, pumpout, fuel or any typical services. BUT, it has excellent protection, great floating docks, power and is very secure. Make arrangements with owners of the slips. Some fairways are tight, but you only go in there once.

Good place to rest, 2015-12-25
Captain: , Racine, WI (525)

Do not offer a lot of services, but the water is calm and the buildings protect from wind. After many nights at anchor it is a good place to get some clean up done without a lot of movement.

Update; 2015, Currently docked here., 2015-03-23
Captain: , Jacksonville Florida (417)

Update: After being gone for over a year, we're back, and still very happy. They are just now completing some luxury apartment buildings which will give the place a 270 protection, open to the east. Small entrance way so traffic going up and down ICW is not felt. New parking area is also being finished. With other new development in area on other side of bridge, this is going to be THE place to have your boat in Jax. Still no plans for boater lounge or bath/toilet facilities. It's secure now, and the dockmaster is still doing an awesome job, very helpful and knowledged. Kb s/v Renasci
It's a new marina and all that's there is top quality and in great shape. There's no club house, pool, mail, etc. Most are expensive boats, security is good and getting better as I write this; they are putting in gates and a fence. The local Sheriff's department, FWC, and CG Aux have vessels there, which is of course a good thing. There is shopping and resturants close within walking distance. West M is within a 5 min drive. The dockmaster and crew do an excellent job. If you want a very nice, secure, and not crowded type of place, call Jim at Harbortown Marina, Tallest concret and wood pillings I've ever seen. Kb

Great Place - Updated Review, 2014-07-02
Captain: , Perry, Kansas (317)

Date of stay - 7 May - 19 June 2014. Although they do not take overnight transients anymore, they still do take longer term boaters, i.e. a week or more at a time. They are currently adding more Condos and construction noise is loud during the day, peaceful at night though. Great floating docks. A great place to stop overnight or leave boat for extended stay. We stopped and left the boat for three weeks while we went home. No on site amenities, however the floating docks are great. Many shopping/eating places within hiking/biking distance. Gated dock security.

Slips no longer available, 2013-10-26
Captain: , Poughkeepsie, NY (6077)

Sad to say that due to some transients skipping out without paying and the crew on one boat suing the marina for supposed tripping injury, they are no longer accepting overnight transients.

So the dishonesty of a few affects us all. This was a great stop, now it's gone. They made very little money from transients and were just doing it to be friendly. Too bad unscrupulous people ruined it.

Not available for overnight transient dockage, 2013-09-14
Captain: , Daytona Beach, FL (100)

We planned to stop and spend the night or two in Harbortown Marina. We called them on 9 and 16 and they did not answer. We called thier office number and we were told that they no longer rent slips for transient boaters. We had to find us different place.

Best kept secret!, 2013-08-16
Captain: , Mayport Florida (452)

This has been our home marina for over a year. For a sailboat with 6 ft draft, we appreciate the deep water basin and approach channel. Great wind protection from the S and W (and getting better). With the exception of missing restroom/pump out facilities, the marina is top notch with new concrete floating docks and the highest pilings seen. Harbormaster Jim is the best in the business and a valuable resource concerning all things boating. If you're looking for quiet, safe, and friendly place to keep your boat with relatively quick access to the ocean, this is the place for you!

Easy in/out, 2013-06-29
Captain: , North Myrtle Beach, SC (3210)

For the money, it is a good deal. Easy docking. If you can not reach Jim on the phone, just pull in and take any of the first 8 docks on your starboard. The gates will be locked, so if you leave, make sure you do not lock yourself out. Nice walk to stores for provisioning. Stayed for the fourth time in 6/2013. Still great, but make sure you get the gate code, or you will be locked out. Also, be careful with the marker here. IT is a gren "1", but it is a triangle shape, which if the sun is in your eyes, or it is dark, you would think it was a red marker

Good spot for long-term stay, 2013-04-02
Captain: , Athens, AL (641)

We delayed at Harbortown for 2 months before continuing up the coast in the spring (loopers). Chose Harbortown for 3 reasons - close to inlaws, convenient to everything, and price was right. Enterprise and a good canvas shop are across the street. The slips are owned by individuals so I sent my monthly rent ($350) to the owner in MA and wrote one check to Jim for the power when we left (18 cents/kwh). Jim is outstanding and will help you anyway he can. He's a one-man show so he's not on site all the time. The marina is first class but there are no other facilities than docks (floating concrete), power, and free wifi. Docks are gated and they have a full-time security live-aboard - his patrol car parked there is a good deterrent to crime by itself. More amenities are coming in the future. There is a porta-potty on site that is cleaner than most WalMart restrooms - cleaned daily and has water/soap for washing your hands. Right on the ICW so easy in/out.

Good stop for a night, 2013-03-18
Captain: , Clear Lake, TX (694)

We were heading North to Fernandina and this was a good stopping place for the night (just shorth of the St. Johns River). No services are available. There are several floating docks to starboard as you pull in. No one available to help. The docks were very nice with 50 Amp service and water. The daily rate of $1.50/FT (including electric was good). One caveat, as we were leaving in the morning we were going to call in our credit card. Jim, the dockmaster/ wondered down aboput 8:30 am. When I wengt to pay he said cash or check only. This could be a problem leaving early as you would need to mail them a check.

A safe place to tie up, 2012-11-17
Captain: , Boulder, Co (319)

No bathrooms, clubhouse or facilities, but a safe place to tie up. Out of the current and somewhat protected from wind. Docks are new and properly cared for, and the price is right

Great Place to Stop, 2012-07-12
Captain: , Houston TX (349)

We spent the night before going out the St. Johns River on way to Charleston. There are new docks (that do not show on the Satellite view) along the north bulkhead as you first enter the marina where they are now putting transients. Nice, new floating docks with water and power. Jim the harbor master was very helpful. They are in the process of developing the land adjacent to the bulkhead. As stated, no amenities but a great place to stop for a day or two. Make sure you line up on the markers for the entrance; they are inside the marina and not out to the ICW. There is shoaling to the south of the channel.

Good place to stow the boat to run home and do business, 2012-06-22
Captain: , St. Petersburg FL (187)

We put in here for a week while we attended to business, so we didn't mind not having showers or heads and other amenities. Jim, the harbormaster, was very helpful and was there to help us tie up. Security guard at night. Car rental agency across the highway.

Harbortown Marina, 2009-10-29
Captain: , Lighthouse Pt., FL (66)

Pablo Creek Marina does not exist anymore. It is now a private marina for the condos on site. However the condo owners rent out slips to transients. The facility is an enclosed basin off the ICW about 200 yds. Floating dicks, 30/50 amp elec. water. NO cable TV, restrooms, laundry or stores. Short walk to 3 groceries, shopping, restaurants, etc. Rates vary by renter. I am paying $1.50/ft, free elec. Contact the dockmaster Jim at 904-477-8692 to arrange a stay. I gave it a low rating because of lack of facilities. The docks and location are very good.
