Reviews for Harbortown Canaveral Marina
great spot and affordable, 2017-05-15
Captain: , Solomons, MD (77)

Wifi worked great. We had a slip for a cruising cat and got the weekly rate. Wifi data had cap at 5gb. Not much close by. Nice and friendly staff.

Nice staff a good location, 2017-03-19
Captain: , Cheboygan, MI (50)

Came in because we needed a few days to make engine repairs. Staff gave us a dock assignment and bathrrom codes over the phone as we were going to arrive after hours. While here there was a rocket launch at Cape Canaveral. It was an easy dinghy ride to the Banana River for an unobsturcated view of the launch.

Nice pool and bathrroms.

Greed Trumps Customer Service, 2016-12-30
Captain: , Virginia Beach (290)

This is a pretty nice facility with a strange wifi set-up and friendly folks. Unfortunately, they put their desire to collect $30/day from contractors working on boats above the needs of their customers. We came out of 30 days on the hard in Scorpion boatyard with a need to have our boat detailed. We were here for a week, but I couldn't get it done because they didn't like the contractor I wanted to use. I'll never be back.

Poor customer service, 2016-11-28
Captain: , Newport (40)

What a disappointment. We have stayed at Harbortown many times over the years as we have family in the area and stop on our way north and south, we will be finding another marina our next trip through after our last experience. The docks are in such disrepair my mother-in law nearly fell in the water due to the uneven boards, their pump out was not working (nor did it work 3 years ago when we last stayed here) you have to wonder where all those liveaboards discharge their holding tanks, and days after leaving we received a call from a less than friendly woman telling us we owed $11 for the use of the internet which we were not told there would be a charge for. When I questioned the charge and their policy, the woman became even more angry and iritated talking over me and stating "They will get their money one way or another!" then she hung up on me. We are talking about $11...It is not the money but the way the situation was handled and the policy to charge for any internet usage above 5GB for a service that only worked intermittenly at best without letting the customer know that up front. Any cruiser knows (and marinas should as well) that when down loading weather, charts, researching the next leg of your trip, and catching up on e-mails etc. after being out of touch for a week or more the data adds up. I have sailed the east coast for the last 20 years and have not been charged for internet in years...shame on you harbortown for your less than friendly approach to doing business (had the woman on the phone had manners I might feel a little less taken aback by the call) and shame on you for your lack of environmental resposibilty (broken pump out) to the very water that affords you to do business.

Good stop for Fuel, 2016-06-06
Captain: , Beverly, MA (1242)

Pulled in to refuel, dock was an easy approach, dock crew available. Allowed to use forward dock to get lunch at on site resturant and wait for squal to pass.

Great people, fun location, 2016-05-17
Captain: , New Buffalo, Michigan (780)

Pulled in here for a couple of days and stayed for a week. Great people on the docks, great pool for end of the day, and nice restaurant on premises. the office staff was great in making sure my parts arrived and were checked in. Hated to leave this place. Docks are fixed but there is no tide so to speak on this side of the lock. Will return.

Bad experience with a recent boat haul out, 2016-05-13
Captain: , Cocoa, FL (10)

The marina office folks leave much to be desired. In the process of making arrangements to get my boat hauled I received conflicting information. It seems every time I talked with office personnel, I got different and in some cases wrong information. On the day the boat was hauled, the communication with the yard from the office ommitted the request to set the boat on a trailer after scraping and pressure washing. They were told this by me on several occasions to multiple office personnel. I even wrote it on the yard agreement. To add insult to injury, because they were not listening, the boat had to be re-slung and I had to pay the extra fee. The yard guys were good and knew their business. The office personnel need some customer service and listening training.

Addendum: The marina has since followed up with me and made things right. There is an honest effort to insure there is good customer service. I really appreciate the willingness to work with me. I can now say I feel comfortable using the boat yard again.

Third Stay Here, 2016-04-11
Captain: , Niceville Florida (300)

I have really come to enjoy shopping here, why? No current, protected from wind, although docks are fixed they are not too high so are dog friendly, great place to walk dogs, gas dog park area, has pool and find I mention that the people are really, really nice. There are a lot of live-aboards and they too are so friendly. Lots of bird life.

Well protected, but tight for larger boats, 2016-03-25
Captain: , Grand Rivers, Ky (2206)

Arrived on a Thursday afternoon, 50 amp power connector at pedestal would not fully engage, made due with wire ties until Friday. Marina staff looked at pedestal connector Friday morning and determined box would have to be removed for repair. Returned to the boat Saturday after visiting familly, pedestal power connector still not usuable. Reported continuing power problem to office, diffferent staff member looked at it and said he would be right back. Three hours later two staff members came and repaired the pedestal connector. The connector on the pedestal was installed incorrectly, I'm not sure how previous boats were able to connect properly.

We could not get the WiFi to work with passcodes provided. Called the office and was told we would have to talk to the IT person during normal business hours. The Wifi is free...but if you use more than 5GB there is an additional charge of $2 per GB.

The fuel dock and pump out are located on a dead end wall with narrow turn around room for larger boats. It is doable but in windy conditions a challenge.

The bugs were very bad (noseums) when we arrived but after a couple of days of wind and light rain, conditions were much better.

All of the staff members were very friendly and courteous. The restrooms and laundry were very clean. A nice restaurant and pool area.

The marina has a used oil recycling tank to empty containers after engine/generator oil changes.

Great place!, 2016-02-21
Captain: , Colchester VT (380)

We had to make very quick arrangements to come in for the night and the staff (Cindy and Jordan) was great in helping get us a place for the night on short notice. The facility is really, really nice. Very protected - no tide at all. The price was very reasonable! The bathrooms could use a bit of modernizing and the dock cleats could use some new bolts!, but they have a nice pool, laundry, small ship store, dog park (the place is very dog friendly) and a great restaurant on site!! We had really nice overnight. Note the date we were there - Feb. and yes we had a few mosquitoes! but it was in the 70s. Just get your netting ready. Will come back.

Nicle little place to stay, 2015-11-09
Captain: , Lakeland (997)

Our autopilot malfunctioned heading southward, so we pulled in to repair it. What a pleasant surprise to find this spot. The staff was very friendly and helpful (as were the many liveaboards). The dockage was cheap as was the diesel. Laundry machines worked well. Restaurant was not very good. I had a rubbery grouper sandwich and my wife had what looked like frozen chicken breasts. We stayed for 4 or 5 days and rented a car to get around while here. Not much within walking distance, but anything you need within 5 miles or so.

Friendly and sheltered, but..., 2015-04-18
Captain: , Palm Coast, FL (472)

The previously reported transient rate of $.75 for two nights is history. The rate is now $1.50 ($1.25 BoatUS) plus $5 for electricity. At that price it's not worth the long, long approach from the ICW at manatee zone speed, unless you need maximum shelter from the wind. Once tied up, it's hard to find a power pedestal that's not occupied by the many locals and liveaboards. The staff is fine and the locals are friendly, but it's not a 5-star facility.

Home port in Florida, 2015-02-28
Captain: , Orlando Florida (10)

great support in this marina. staff friendly and low fuel prices

Super Friendly and Clean, 2015-01-12
Captain: , Newport, RI (360)

We spent 2012 here and are on our way back now to spend 2015! Yes, the noseeums are bad in the summer and you need to watch out for the gators (LOL). The pool, laundry and restrooms are clean and the staff is wonderfull.

Good Marina w/ friendly staff, 2014-09-16
Captain: , Cocoa, FL (253)

Been here for 4 months and are happy with the marina and staff. Would recommend this place to friends/family. Only issue is with the no-seeums which love my wife. Convient access to the ICW or Atlantic ocean. The marina is also well protected in a blow.

Space Center, 2014-04-29
Captain: , Camden ME (465)

We spent 3 nights while visiting the space center. Nice marina with good facilities, pool, showers, laundry and restaurant. Docks are small and my be difficult to access from boat. Will visit again especially with dockage at $0.75 per ft for Boats US

Great protected stop, 2013-11-28
Captain: , Rock Hall,md (90)

We have stopped here twice now to visit friends in the area. The staff and locals are terrific. We had no problems with the pumpout and we fueled up as well. If you stay a night and fuel up within your 24 hour stay they give you 10 cents off per gal and if you sign up on their site you can get an additional 5 cents/gal. We were there during the 25 knot plus blow and were completely protected. Would definitely stay again. There is a discount for dockage for US boat members.

Very Nice Community, 2013-07-18
Captain: , Eau Gallie, FL (349)

This place is geared towards the liveaboard. Nice people abound. Very friendly, and decent facilities. Yes, the no-se emus are out in force at dusk for a couple of hours. We can manage that with AC and screens. WiFi and cable Tv come with the price of the slip. The restaurant is also good.

worst bug infested place I have ever been, 2013-06-06
Captain: , Portland, Oregon (50)

Nice Marina, with nice people running it. $0.75 per foot for a transient rate was good for us.
BUT, we stayed one night and had at least 500 no-see-um bites each by morning. It was horrible! If you stay, then close up tight before sunset or you will be miserable.

Very Friendly People Here, 2013-05-16
Captain: , Cape Haze, Fl (140)

We planned to stay here for a month but due to an emergency had to extend to five weeks. They have a good monthly rate but BEWARE....if you don't stay a month you have to pay a daily rate. No pro-ration for time spent. This isn't the first time we've been here on a monthly basis. The bathrooms are so, so and the pump out has problems. We hope they fix the "weekly rate" issue. The people on the boats on the docks are great, very friendly and helpful. They would be the only reason we'd stop agian.

Along the barge canal, 2013-05-07
Captain: , Punta Gorda, Fl (960)

4 miles east of ICW. No low bridges for us. Fueling was difficult and pumpout unsanitary. Docks are wood fix and minimal finger makes it hard to get off the boat. Restaurant good. Not close to any services. Laundry and pool very good. Friendly staff and live-a-boards.

A nice place to stop, 2013-03-20
Captain: , Tittusville (50)

We stopped in here on the weekend of March 9 2013 to walk our dogs and get a bite to eat.

Docking is free for 3 hours ( so says the sign ). We tried to pull in past the fuel dock and found that the six or seven slips closest the restaurant are pretty silted up and we could not use them with our 4 foot draft. Power boats seemed not to have a problem though.

Be aware the restaurant is not dog friendly, we called ahead and spoke to someone from the marina office and they said it was but the restaurant is a separate business and dogs are not allowed. We did get some food to go and the food was pretty good.

best bang for your buck, 2012-12-02
Captain: , shoreham ny (343)

the rates here are the cheapest around. we left the boat here while visiting relatives in Orlando for Thanksgiving

Good Marina, friendly people, but not near anything., 2012-04-18
Captain: , East Falmouth, MA (1643)

This is a mostly live aboard marina with very few transients. It is a good value. The docks are sturdy, but old and the finger piers are very short so you must back in. There is one restaurant at the marina, but you will need a car for everything else. We stayed there because our son's family was going to Disney World and wanted to be close. A rental car is a necessity if you plan to stay and Enterprise was very good. Fuel price was the best in the area, but be aware, they offer a $0.10 per gal discount to customers, but only those with a contract. It is clear when they explain it, but I felt misled. It is not available for transients. Pump outs are free but there is no sight glass or ball valve on the hose and it can get messy.

Mike and Gail, Happy Hours V, 2012-03-28
Captain: , Cairns, Queensland, Australia (121)

Stayed here for several days, at 75 cents a foot + metered elect good value.
Really nice liveaboards greeted us and offered assistance if required.
Pool available, restaurant on site, clean facilities

Great community of boaters, 2012-03-11
Captain: , Olcott, NY (2536)

I left my boat here for a month and felt very comfortable with just the dockmates I met in my initial arrival.
Good clean facilities.
A bit out of the way but very well protected.
If you want to get about the Space Coast, this is a good place to base yourself out of.

Great Marina, 2012-02-03
Captain: , Winter Garden, Fl (2391)

We stayed here for two months while getting some work done and getting ready to go to the Bahamas. The location is a little off the ICW but offers great protection. The facility is clean and well kept - the bathrooms are cleaned daily. The restaurant is very good - great food, competitive prices. Very nice pool next to the fenced in dog run area. The closest store is a little over a mile away. The staff and live aboards are awesome.

Enjoyed our stay.., 2011-10-06
Captain: , Kingtston Ontario (273)

We stayed here for 2 months. Staff are wonderful, great pool, & a nice grill. 30/50a is metered monthly. Only drawback, shops are to far to walk, & no public transport. Having said that, the liveaboards were more than willing to offer trips the the stores. We had intended to haul the boat into the yard to do some work, unfortnunately, they do not allow liveabords in the yard, so we are taking the boat down the canel to Cape Marina to have her hauled.

Needs some work, but worth the price, 2011-08-14
Captain: , Palmetto Fl (545)

Docks are rough, laundry is outside, but for the price of 75 cents a foot you can't beat it. We have stayed here 4 times in the past 2 years and enjoy the pool, restaurant, and bar. The gas is always cheap too. This is always a fuel stop when we travel up this side of FL. They were short of help on this visit in Aug., but the live aboards in this marina are very friendly and helpful.

Nice Location Friendly Staff, 2011-07-04
Captain: , Green Cove Springs FL (1394)

Came in for diesel fuel at recomendation of MTOA Boat Lifes2Short on 11-26-10 Diesel $2.75 + .165 Tax =$2.925 Gal in the Tank Very efficient attendants on the dock, all 3 of them. We got expert attention with docking and undocking and great service with pumpout and fueling process. Would have stayed the night but day was young and had to get back on AICW and the 25 Kt winds on the nose. trip in Canal was a nice break and a money saver.

Good fuel stop, 2011-05-11
Captain: , Knapps Narrows Md (450)

This was our first fuel stop heading north. It is a long run up the barge canal but diesel was $3.79 + tax. Slip was only $.75/ft. They are trying to encourage boaters to stop. Decent restaurant, nice pool and fenced in pet run.

Cheapest fuel on the Florida ICW, 2011-04-16
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (1090)

We stop here everytime we pass to fuel up. Diesel was $3.87 including tax (about $.40/gal cheaper than other places we checked).

The fuel dock access can be tricky, but the staff and other boaters always lend a hand. A 50 footer turned around after leaving the dock, so a competent captain will have no problems.

Docks have seen a few improvements since the last visit, but could still use some work. The price is right at $.75/ft.

Make sure to keep your speed in the canal at "minimum wake". The sherrif is on the look out. We saw several manatees and dolphins on the way in this time, but no gators.

We had lunch at the restaurant and the food is still great with low prices.

A good spot for short stays (unless you rent a car and then there are lots of things to do in the area).

Comfortable, 2011-04-14
Captain: , Daytona Beach, Florida (119)

Nice location coming from the sea to the ICW. Stayed two days at the 75 cpf price (max). Nice assortment of vendors for whatever needs doing. Food, staff, facility made the stay very comfortable. There is a charge of $25 per visit for vendors. Fuel discount not available to daily users, but still a good price.

just a little on the trashy side, 2011-03-05
Captain: , Hawesville,Ky (371)

Remote, low-maintanance, and low standards. Conviniently located next to a rowdy sportsbar, with rickety docks, and poorly lit dirty restroom facilities, not to mention poor security and an isolated outdoor laundry facility ($1.50 per load), Harbortown is a nice one night stay, but nothing you want to spend a long time at.

Great place, so-so location, 2011-02-02
Captain: , Satellite Beach, FL USA (115)

Excellent prices on non-ethanol fuel. Very helpful staff. The barge canal location is a drag to get to. The fuel dock can be tricky. The food in the restaurant is average.

Worth the trip, 2011-01-05
Captain: , brewerton ny (303)

Exellent experiance every time we come! Renee has bent over backwards to accomadate us on many occations. It is true that getting in and out of the fuel dock is challanging, but not hard.We can turn our 44 LOL boat around in the basin after looks worse than it is.Staff is courtious and efficient and the prices on fuel and dockage are nearly impossible beat in Florida! We have spent a total of 4 months here over the years

Ok marina - great price, 2011-01-05
Captain: , Havre de Grace, MD (299)

We called late in the day to check on transient rates and were given the 'internet special' of $0.75 per foot.

Docks old, with broken glass. Showers servicable. Staff very friendly.

On-site restaurant served decent food.

Worth the trip, 2011-01-02
Captain: , Fort Myers (769)

It took about an hour to make the trip off the ICW, fuel and make it back, however it was worth the stop. Marina attendants were very helpful and you can't beat the price. The fuel dock is a little tight however we had no problems with our 44'. They told us they have had up to 56' boats take on fuel.

Attendants make sure you have no problems getting in or out.

about 45 min off the icw, 2010-05-14
Captain: , Key Largo (5457)

fixed docks, short finger on one side, Request a t dock.
Bow in may be a problem to disembark
no tide , protected, inexpensive. Nice Bar and resturant on property,.Back here for the secound time in 2010, Lady in the office seems to hate her job.

Very Disapointing Experience., 2010-03-28
Captain: , Charleston SC (805)

Excellent price on fuel, but fuel dock is at the end of a narrow channel with boats moored either side. Insufficient room for a 40+Ft. boat to turnaround and with a cross wind backing out is tricky. Purchased 300 gals fuel and had planned to stay two nights at Marina but felt very rushed to leave the fuel dock and although the young lady attendant was most pleasant she was unable to be of any real assistance.. Staff in office were too busy to answer questions re docking, so we quietly left to find more hospitable situation.

Low cost and cheap fuel too, 2010-03-11
Captain: , Buffalo (1154)

Be sure you download the discount coupon on their web site. We stayed here during a hard blow. Wake and tide protection are 100%. There is a good restaurant, but nothing else within walking distance.

Nice marina & good fuel prices, 2009-12-02
Captain: , St Louis (671)

Third time we stopped here for diesel, typically best prices within a couple hundred miles. First time we have stayed, great protection from storms. Very friendly staff, fixed docks with short finger piers, restaurant/bar on site. Not near any shopping.

protected, cheap, friendly., 2009-11-15
Captain: , Block Island (1679)

be sure and download their slip coupon on the internet. Not a brand new place, but very nice with helpful staff. Would be a great place to hide from bad weather. Cheap fuel, free wifi and cable. What more could you ask?

Gas Price update, 2009-11-13
Captain: , Edenton, NC (887)

We paid $262.6/gal for diesel on 11/12/09. Price noted is total price per gal (sales tax included). Price advertised was $2.479 per gal. Harbourtown had lowest fuel prices by .30 to .40 per gal.

Great Fuel price, 2008-11-30
Captain: , Havre de Grace (119)

Great fuel price and easy docking. Free pump out. Only stopped for fuel.

Great fuel price, 2008-04-08
Captain: , fairland (2653)

Cheaper than either Ft Pierce or Ferdnandia Beach
