Reviews for Harbor Shack Restaurant
Fun Visit on a Holiday Weekend, 2017-07-06
Captain: , Oakton, VA (349)

The band was great, the food delicious but we never got the appetizers we ordered. I was a bit surprised at the menu -- it was different from what I expected. For instance, there were no steamed crabs. I had a crab cake dinner and was impressed with a spicy taste and lots of meat.

Great place, 2016-08-27

Good Food And Bar, 2015-10-12

Good food nice bar does get busy in the summer with all the boaters.

What can I say, 2014-08-14
Captain: , Middle River (130)

Great palce to sit and relax and have a drink and dinner. Menu is extensive and everything is good. The place has a real laid back atmosphere expecially out of the deck, but we always found it fun and on occassion have been picked up and returned to a marina just calling and asking. nothing stuffy about this place. Good food and fair prices.

This is the place to go and experience Rock Hall, or the Chesapeake for that matter. Laid back, loud, good food and drinks. Service is good and the bands play untill late. Go and enjoy yourself

Good Casual Spot, 2014-07-23

not much to add to other reviews except had a great shrimp and mussel appetizer the other night. Really like the margirittas on the rocks they are a little unique in a good way!
Casual service on island time.
Don't be afraid to wander into the mexican side on menu - taco salad was very good.

Great Food!, 2013-05-19

For a self proclaimed hole in the wall, this place serves wonderful food with a great view and atmosphere. not gormet by any stretch, but very tasty.

Food's good, service is so-so, 2013-04-10

A fun place on a Saturday night when you feel like partying. It can get VERY busy, and then the service suffers a bit. I like Waterman's better, but will happily go here.

It's a scene., 2012-09-14

Harbor Shack is a funny scene to witness at least once. It's rough and unrefined. It's real casual and relaxed. Good place to drop in with kids for a burger or some simple food for lunch or an early dinner with beer. I wouldn't go too late with kids, though, since it can be croweded with sometimes rowdy locals in the summer. It's a scene worth seeing, and I've had lots of fun meals there over the summer. It's a nice outdoor view of the marina and sometimes there are really good bands that play here, too.

Our favorite place in Rock Hall, 2012-08-10

The menue is typical seafood with a mexican twist. The food was excellent. Had the crab cakes, lots of crab. Good selection of beer and a nice bar. It is not a fancy place, do not let that fool you, the food is great.

Cool Daytime Spot, 2012-05-31

I agree with the above reviews. We like the casual atmosphere and great view. Gets rowdy at night especially on weekends.

As good as it gets in Rock Hall, 2011-11-18
Captain: , Frog Mortar Creek, Middle R., Chesapeake (420)

We've been coming to Rock Hall for over 10 years and eaten at nearly every restaurant in town. Harbor Shack is the 3rd ownership of this property and each time we have eaten here we have been very pleased. The blend of casual atmosphere and value make this a "don't miss" stop in Rock Hall.

Way better than mediocre!, 2011-06-30
Captain: , East Goshen, PA (121)

Because our home port marina is near by, we go to the Shack a lot. OK, they do not pretend to be fine dining but their food is great! Never had a bad meal there, ever. Great burgers, Cheasapeake chicken and their daily specials are always a good bet. Service is, well, "local" but friendly. Drinks are tall and not expensive. If black bean soup in on the menu, try it!

Best Bloody Mary, 2011-05-19
Captain: , Rock Hall, MD (179)

I had the best Bloody Mary at The Shack than I've had anywhere on the bay. Cream of Crab soup is fantastic. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff.

Nice in season and fun..., 2011-03-07

Let's be honest, the food wasn't that great, but they do allow you to bring your dog as long as he sits by your feet at the outside tables. Oh, and the funny dude singing and playing guitar was definitely entertaining. We had walked over to this place from the Rock Hall Landing marina, and we really had a nice time sitting outside and listening to the music and people watching. If you are looking for a totally non-pretentious place to sit and unwind and eat some mediocre food for a great price, this is your place!!! P.S. - I noticed that only a few slips were available for transient patrons and when we were there, those slips were full (until a few drunk captains shoved off from the pier - talk about people watchin!). LOL. Let me just say, I'm glad my boat was safely docked over at the marina!!!! lol.

Great Spot for Local Flavor, 2010-04-27
Captain: , Sassafras River, MD (137)

Cool little restaurant with great views of the harbor. Boat facilities limited to dinghies, but it is within walking distance of marinas and the free town bulkhead. Food is good and reasonably priced. Live music on weekends. Can get a bit scary late at night.
