Reviews for Harbor Hill Marina
Non-existent to Horrible service / Nice physical facility / New owner?, 2013-02-13
Captain: , Detroit (720)

2nd year in this place as a rack and then slip holder. I can't understate how much disdain the owner has for the tenants. Place and location are pretty nice, price is getting too high, but the shame is that the owners attitude is that customers are an annoyance to be avoided and certainly not served or pleased.

Bathrooms rarely ok, often horribly dirty. No paper towel in any roller, etc. Pool was not open until well after Memorial Day 2011. Pool deck covered in scattered or piled Fish Flies for weeks, whereas Keans next door got them all up and gone during the same period. Hot tub was algae wridden for a few weeks in the middle of summer and then once clean again hardly ever had power or heat all summer. No indication of why. No newsletter like competitors, never know when tenants meetings occur because there is not communication.

Dock boxes are promissed, but then took 15 requests over 3 months to finally get a broken one, smaller than every body else's. 1st year my Wife's phone/gate code didn't work at gate, but mine did. 2nd year, my Wife's key fob doesn't work at all and for 2 months my key fob did't work. Had to ask 10+ times to find somebody who could or would fix my key fob access in the system. Gate was stuck open about half the summer, so access was an intermittent problem. Out gate was stuck open or closed about half the time too. Tenant gate stuck closed or turned off almost the entire year.

I paid for Unlimited Pumpout and they hadn't put me on the list to get them free until July. Had to explain the deal to each dock person, each time I got pumped out. Should have been evident by list and MC# or a sticker like other places.

There's no explaining to the current managers / Owner how non-existent their customer service is compared to any local competitors. Hoist workers are really nice and capable, that's about it.

Go elsewhere. I am.

UPDATE 20120926 - got a postcard that they long time owner operator was being replaced effective 11/1/2012. So, I'll look in to going back if it is true that the old owner is gone, in the hopes that my prayer has been answered and the great facility can have the owner to run it as it should be done. The city is looking for an operator to run the marina in 2013.

More of the same?, 2012-05-10
Captain: , Cedar Point, OH (659)

I was saddened, but not surprised as I read the previous review. I had hoped that service had improved since they lost me as a customer, but apparenty not. Too bad - the facilities themselves are quite nice.
