Reviews for Halifax Harbor Marina
Great people.... no Internet, 2016-11-16
Captain: , Seabrook, NH (112)

Love the people here. Freindly, and totally go out of their way to help you out, tie you up in your slip, and really make you feel welcome.
However, after several days offshore, we needed to catch up with admin, emails, etc.

Our computers could not even FIND the marina wifi servers. So, connecting wasn't even an option... having a weak connection wasn't even an option.

We booked in here for three days so our son could spend the time on his online High School classes, after several days of offshore passagemaking, and the only way he could get his school work accomplished was to use our phones as Internet hotspots. That's really pathetic.

This is a beautiful marina, a nice place, great security, great facilities, great people. They need to step into the 21st century and offer their clients reliable wifi.

Great Marina, 2016-11-13
Captain: , Lake Burton, GA (120)

Stayed 11/12/2016 for one night while heading to Jacksonville for St Johns trip. Very helpful and professional. Clean facilities, local is great. If cruising this area I highly recommend Halifax.

Awsome performance of all staff during H. Matthew, 2016-10-10
Captain: , Daytona Beach (20)

Pam and her office staff handled a huge rush of new boats in the days leading up to Matthew with smiles and efficiency. Manager and crew checked boats frequently and so there was little damage to boats or facilities. Cleanup was started with the last tropical gust. Great job and thanks to all. My cat came through without a scratch.

Power Problem, 2016-08-24
Captain: , Wrightsville Beach (10)

The power grid is 208 volts, by design, which will not support air conditioning.

Nice Marina but address the issues, 2016-08-09
Captain: , Portland,Oregon (270)

This is the second time I stay here but this time I was put on the end of J dock. The spot was fine but the power issue is still here as stated in other reviews. I run one 30 amp power cord and could not run what I need to on my boat! I had to shut down the water heater when I needed the battery charger! They still charged me the $6 for power and they are aware of the issues. Come on Hallifax Marina, this is 2016, fix the problem as you have a great Marina with great people. Now earn your 5 stars!

Super Convenient, 2016-07-24
Captain: , Stuart FL (508)

It's hard to imagine easier or closer access to a slip from the ICW. Add to that, the basin is virtually protected from all points of the compass. The exception would be 'J' dock which is exposed to a half-mile fetch from the east. Still, we were on the T-head at 'J' with an easterly and the motion was not bad at all. There are several restaurants and other shops nearby. It's on the bus line. Nice clean showers at three locations around the perimeter. The rate is reasonable. A good value. We'll be back!

Just about as good as it gets., 2016-06-27
Captain: , Daytona Beach, Fl (10)

From check-in to check-out, it couldn't have been simpler. Everyone was super friendly. Dock support was right there when we needed him. Security, which is important to us, was fantastic...so good, even we had had a hard time figuring it out at first :) We trailer our boat and the launching ramps/facilities were the best we've encountered...and only a few hundred yards from the ICW. Everything was well manicured and clean, clean, clean. Transient slipage prices are about average. We will definitely be back.

We moved back in!!, 2016-06-21
Captain: , Daytona Beach, Fl (20)

After having moved our sailboat Blue Moon home into our backyard to get her ready for cruising in a few years, we didn't feel right without being able to sail. We found Comfort Zone, a Hunter 30t, and sailed her from Ft. Lauderdale home to Halifax harbor marina. We are happy to be back, and enjoy the boating comunity, the facilities and the security we have at HHM. There is nothing like the feeling you have when you know your boat is safe and secure.

Great stop, but one caveat!, 2016-06-09
Captain: , Denver, CO (55)

Great marina. Friendly and experienced staff. Enclosed basin protects from wakes and wind driven waves. Wide floating slips. Note decks are low, 12" above water level. Fuel/pump-out dock, also floating, is long and easy to access. I would have rated this marina with 5 stars if not for the following; power voltage is very low everywhere. 102/208V. This is too low to safely operate many ( especially, recently designed) motor driven equipment; ie, AC, wine coolers, refrig/freezers. Recent midels have low voltage cut-offs that shuts them down. Older equipment will run hot. The marina is well aware of this problem, but has no plans to fix. They do have a limited number of voltage boosters, that they will roll to your slip , if requested and available. Too bad, because in every other way this marina is first class.

Great attention to detail, 2016-06-05
Captain: , Wrightsville beach, NC (304)

Took us on no notice; not a problem. Excellent service and facilities. Zappi's Restaurant is 4 block walk and perfect italian food.

Never a dissapointment, 2016-06-01
Captain: , Rockport, tx (154)

This is a first class operation. The staff are supper friendly, helpful and efficient. The young man who assisted us at the fuel dock was beyond helpful. (He even gave us free bottles of water.) The dock attendent met us at our slip, helped with the lines and connected the shore power. Top notch service.

The marina is within walkind distance of the small downtown with several restaurants.

We liked it so much, we stayed three nights.

While here, I changed the oil and checked all fluid levels. (The marina even provides used oil disposal.)

Very Good Marina, 2016-05-12
Captain: , Newport RI (470)

Stopped here for one night to have our generator repaired. The marina staff is very professional and we received great service. The bathrooms and laundry are located around the perimeter of the basin, but it can be a long walk to the office. Got three loads of laundry washed! The grounds are very well kept. We did not go anywhere in town as we heard that the grocery was about three miles and we were waiting for the mechanics.

Very Nice Stop, 2016-05-08
Captain: , Kemah, Texas (202)

Everyone here has been great. Met us on the dock, had all the registration forms, took payment and gave us our keys. Didn't have to make the that long walk to office. Laundry is nice. Showers and restrooms are a little tired but ok. Easy in and out, will stay here again.

First rate marina, 2016-05-05
Captain: , Westport CT (280)

Stayed one night on way north...very easy access off intercoastal and very protected. Dock staff was great...easy fuel dock and pump out. Right in downtown Daytona Beach so lots of food options. Would definetly stop in again.

Great Marina, 2016-05-03
Captain: , Melbourne, FL (232)

This is our first time here putting in because of bad thunder storms coming over night. Great service from the dock help. Checked in at the slip and didn't have to walk to the marina office. Didn't have time to check out local restaurants but many to choose from. Hope to leave tomorrow heading south if the weather will let us. I will stop back here in the future.

Nice Marina, Close to Restaurants, 2016-04-27
Captain: , Castine, Maine (2997)

Upated: We returned for another stay and found it just as enjoyable. All of the staff are friendly and helpful. The facilities are very nice. We walked into town for dinner and it is a nice pleasant walk with many restaurant choices. We hope to return and stay for longer.

2013-03-03:

This was our first stop at Halifax Harbor Marina and it is a lovely facility. Probably the largest marina we have ever stayed at. It was quite a walk from our boat to the office. However, they conveniently provide check in dockside which was very nice.

All of the facilities are very nice and well kept. The staff is friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. There's a restaurant on site or you can walk a few blocks for lots of choices which is what we did. It is all gated for added security. When we left we just called them on the radio and they had someone at the fuel dock with a fishing net where we could simply drop our security keys and go. A very nice experience and we would return.

Very nice marina, 2016-04-27
Captain: , Essex, CT (1675)

Was a bit worried given how large the marina is - but they surprised for the good. Very good service - including a clever way to return your keys when leaving (a dockhand holds out a very long fish net to capture them as you cruise past the gas dock). Bathrooms were close and nice. If we were to return to Daytona we'd certainly stay here again.

Great Layover, 2016-04-16
Captain: , Kent Island, Maryland (115)

Floating docks, friendly and helpful staff, clean, well protected. we stopped to visit friends and ended up waiting for a front to pass. Definitely on our stop again itinerary.

Very easy access from ICW, 2016-03-27
Captain: , Iuka, MS (1120)

Needed fuel and overnight. Fuel dock one of the simplest to reach. Large fairways and zero current in the basin. Weird gate locks/keys and restrooms are right along major city street. Almost too big, but will stop here again! Check-in at your boat--really nice at such a huge place. Lots of nearby casual dining.

03/16/2016 David and Betty chesapecke va, 2016-03-16
Captain: , chesapecke va (20)

great place best help at dock there is.

Great spot, 2016-03-02
Captain: , Harbo Town Marina Florida (10)

I came in after dark, and had very friendly and helpful assistance from security guard Leon. He was there to help tie up, and went even further by taking a couple of hungry voyagers to closest restaurant in his golf cart!! Great amenities, clean restrooms and showers. Thank you, Leon.

Our New Home Port, 2016-02-07
Captain: , Daytona Beach, Fl (20)

1st month in our new home port with our new boat. Staff has been nothing short of fantastic. We are very excited to be a part of this very friendly Marina. Graet location, very convienient walking to many shops and restaurants on Beach St.

Very Modern Marina with quality staff, 2016-01-22
Captain: , Chesapeake Beach, MD 20732 (190)

Quality docks with great staff to help with pumpout and in/out of slip.
A good system to drop gate keys at fuel dock without docking boat.
Showers are outside gated area but not a big deal. Close walk to resturants A good overnight stop.

Best in the area I've found, 2015-12-28
Captain: , Sunset Beach, NC (1124)

Good marina. They come to you to do checkin. No longer is there a West Marine on the propery. We just came in and left early in the AM.

Nice if you don't need a close bathroom, 2015-12-24
Captain: , Hampton (71)

The entry was easy and the dock assistance great, nice floating docks. Downside is no safe place to buy basics, 7 11 in bad neighborhood and I had no place to go get bread. Bathrooms are a far distance and outside the gated area so I did not feel safe going by myself. Showers were adequate but not as nice as many places I have stayed on ICW .

the only place to stay in Daytona, 2015-12-03
Captain: , deltaville, virginia (70)

eazy in and out form th ICW, close to everything, and top notch staff......

big big place, 2015-11-20
Captain: , annapolis, MD (120)

Halifax Harbor is a very bnig place. Marina staff were top shelf. Slips were fine and everything met expectations. Restrooms a cut above usual ICW fare. Can walk to town in ten to 15 mimutes. It cojd take that long to walk around tghe marina!

Daytona Beach MUST visit marina, 2015-08-22
Captain: , Daytona Beach (20)

The price is right for the amenities. Walking distance to everything or public transportation very close by.
The staff of Halifax Harbor Marina are the most accommodating you'll find. Service with a smile.
Fuel prices are already very good but if you're a dockage customer you get the good guy discount.
Floating docks with power and water for any size vessel.
Come visit, you might stay a bit longer than you think.

Great Spot!, 2015-08-22
Captain: , New York City (61)

The choice of this marina was one of the best we ever made We'd had a couple of rough days out at sea and some trouble coming into the ICW, we needed rest- but we were also in need of courtesy and comfort. The staff and facilities are at the level you wish for every time you make a stop. Christina took such good care of us! They couldn't have been more helpful or pleasant. The docks are tidy and well-maintained, the showers and bathrooms are clean. Each dock has bathing and laundry facilities closeby. There's even a little "Boater's Lounge" by the North Basin where you can relax in a nice large air-conditioned room. Also right nearby on beach street are all sorts of little eateries, bookshops, and cafes- and if you're willing to walk a bit further, a large CVS.We will definitely be staying there again. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Very LOW Power, 2015-07-29
Captain: , Gulf Harbour, Fl (239)

The marina power is the worst we have seen along the east coast. Dockmaster said the entire marina was low. It was not just a problem with our location in the marina. We disconnected and ran a generator. Marina would not discount slip rental, but refunded the 50 amp electrical charge.

good stop over, 2015-07-28
Captain: , Bar Harbor (90)

nice well protected marina and a great staff. The bathrooms are adequate. The only downside is there are no groceries nearby

Nice Place to Stop & Relax, 2015-07-07
Captain: , Newport, RI (10)

We just arrived at the Halifax Harbor Marina %u2013 what a well maintained facility with very friendly staff and management! John and Kristina made us feel welcome. We docked in a 40%u2019 slip with lots of beam clearance. We fueled up on the way in and they offer Boat US members a discount if you show them your member card. Marina is located on the west side of the ICW about mile south of the Daytona Beach Memorial Bridge. We entered via their south channel just about at low tide and water depth was 7.5 to 8.0%u2019 the whole way in . Once you get ashore, it is a picturesque mile walk into downtown Daytona Beach. We found many restaurants, shops and stores. It is a safe walking locale. Overall it is a nice place to spend a few days or weeks exploring Daytona Beach or to see a race at the Speedway.

very impressive facility, 2015-06-07
Captain: , Key Largo (5330)

As nice as any I have seen. dockhand knew his stuff, and the Aquarium has the best happy hour I have been to in a while.
Too bad it's pricey, now there's a wallkable pulix.

Great service, great area, 2015-05-16
Captain: , Merritt Island Florida (150)

Have stopped here twice and always found it to be a well run marina, easy on/off fuel dock and great help docking. Good security with gates at docks and security patrolling, although it doesn't seem to be necessary for the area. There are some nice restaurants within walking distance. Early departure is easy with key drop off as you pass the fuel dock, or even earlier by calling security.

Narrow Entry into Marina Channel..., 2015-05-14
Captain: , Lake Erie (148)

Everything said about Halifax is spot on. Shopping is a distance away and requires a taxi or city bus. The Farmers Market is great and a bit of a walk from the marina. Restuarants and pubs in 'Old Daytona' are a few blocks north on Beach Street. BE CAREFUL approaching the channel from the river. DO NOT short cut the entrance. We were not familiar with the entrance and were not made aware of this fact. We went hard aground doing so. Be sure to turn into the channel NORTH of the Halifax sign with the red floating buoy on your starboard side.

Spent a month here, 2015-05-11
Captain: , Venice, Fl. (919)

We arrived last month for the MTOA rendezvous and stayed a month. The staff did a great job getting all 65+ boatsd in and settled. Concrete floating docks, clean bath houses with laundry. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance never had a bad meal. Lots of walking areas around.

One of the best. Great for pets, 2015-05-04
Captain: , Niceville Florida (280)

Came in today and was given excellent and accurate directions for docking. Plenty of help to tie up. Really knew exactly how to position and tie boat. All finances taken care of right there on dock. No need to hike to the office. If you have pets, then this is the place. The marina is park like with many walks, mostly shaded which is a help a in FL. Appears to be easy access to fuel, concrete floating docks, very protected from Halifax River. I really like this place.

Super Nice Marina, 2015-05-02
Captain: , Little River, SC (476)

Great docks, great staff, secure location, and just a short walk to great resturants. Got to try Zappi's Italian Garden. It's so big they come to you to check in and most anything else you could need. Will stay here again!

Great Marina, 2015-05-01
Captain: , Oriental, N.C. (111)

Great Marina with concrete floating docks. Easy in and easy access to fuel. Bill and Ann couldnt be more pleasant. Restaurants are a short walk away. Great stop in Daytona!

KUDOS FOR HALIFAX HARBOR, 2015-04-25
Captain: , Palm Coast, FL (10)

We also stayed at Halifax Harbor for the MTOA Southern Rendezvous and echo all the other MTOA reviews. The staff did a superior job in organizing the event at their facility (ie, spraying for red ants where the tent was located!). Kudos to John, Pam, Ryan and the rest of the crew for a delightful stay! We'll be back soon!

First Class, 2015-04-19
Captain: , Brunswick, ME 04011 (82)

Extrimely accomodating - we came in late and the staff stayed around to help us with dockimg and checkin.

Will come back on our next trip down.

Wonderful facility!, 2015-04-18
Captain: , Jacksonville, FL (180)

We've been here a week with MTOA Rendezvous and have nothing but praise for the marina, it's amenities, and for the personnel here. They've been wonderful, very accommodating, and we look forward to returning. Even without a car, shops, restaurants, and other entertainment all within walking distance and if you want to venture farther than your bike or feet can take you, they have a convenient bus route.

First Class Marina, 2015-04-18
Captain: , Palm Coast (53)

We just spent a week at Halifax Harbor marina and were impressed by the efficiency and friendliness of the staff. This is a very well run operation and easy walking distance to many good bars and resturants.

Gteat marina. Great staff., 2015-04-18
Captain: , New Buffalo, Michigan (600)

We also stayed here during the MTOA Rendezvous. The facilities were great. Clean bathrooms and showers. Fuel price and pump out right as you enter harbor on your right. Staff was top notch. Needed some forms emailed and faxed for Bahama pets permits helped me make it happen. Blue Grotto restaurant on premisis is ok. Still working out kinks. Downtown convienient with minor league baseball team easy walk. West Marine 2.5 miles down Internationall Speedway Dr. Great outboard motor mechanic at Neptune Marine. Replaced the impeller in my 2 stroke Merc in a day. Priceless.

Stop here to see Daytona!, 2015-04-17
Captain: , Punta Gorda, Fl (880)

Halifax Harbor Marina is great. Fuel dock right at entrance and easy dockage. Accepts Yachting Club of America reciprocity for discount on fuel. Floating docks well maintained. Secured docks/Bath/shower/laundry clean and well maintained. Short walk to downtown Daytona--check out Angels and Phelps chocolate, and the nice restaurants! West Marine borders to the north, and Chart House to the south. Pet freindly. We always like to stop here as we know the quality is excellent.

April 2015: Still a great stop. Competitive diesel price. Great dock crew and office staff. Facility immaculate. West Marine sign says they are closed--we did not check any further. Downtown has several options for dining and several deliver. Always look forward to our stop here.

a great place, 2015-03-24
Captain: , Woodbridge, VA (189)

Halifax Harbor is a great place to rest out a cold front passage and heavy fog/drizzle. The Blue Grotto restaurant has outstanding food and service.
Bill Ellis, s/v Second Option

Great marina, 2015-03-23
Captain: , Jacksonville Florida (417)

We stayed here a couple of years ago, and again in March of 2015, and the marina is a top notch marina. The dockage was great, the crew was very helpful and courteous. We didn't walk to the downtown area, but understand that it's close by. The place is very secure with a guard walking around. We ate at the resturant that's next door and enjoyed it a lot. Very pet friendly and the protection from fetch and wind was great. Nice, clean, and we'll definitely put this on our list to visit again.

Great place for liveaboards, 2015-03-17
Captain: , Crisfield, MD (70)

We were livaboards here from November thru January. Great facility, great staff, squeaky clean bath and laundry facilities. Active and friendly livaboard community on H, I and J docks. Stavros Pizza delivers to your dock. Free pumpout boat comes to you every week. Own the downside, wi-fi can be flaky, no swimming pool and the weather in January can get pretty nippy but still better than up north. Would definitely stay there again.

An excellent marina, 2015-03-14
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (636)

February 2015
We were there for about a month. Discount on fuel based on our long stay. Very well run marina. Friendly accomodating staff. Secure. Good wash and bathing facilities. Location near center of old Daytona Beach. Easy docking -- you are out of the ICW tidal currents. Easy walk across Memorial Beach to the ocean beaches. Tia Cori's for great Mexican food.

Strongly recommend

Truly a Friendly & Helpful Marina, 2015-03-12
Captain: , Forest Lake, MN (80)

Stopped here on 3/11/15. Very helpful to get us docked safely and then also to get us off the dock on 3/12/15. Very clean showers and love the bench in the shower area to store items and sit when you put your shoes on.

Expansive Marina, 2015-03-11
Captain: , Fayetteville, Arkansas (671)

We had great directions and help getting into our slip. The floating dock was well proected and the approach was easy. The facilites are nice, showers great, and there is access to good restaurants with a short walk. We'll stop here again.

no dock bumpers, 2015-03-04
Captain: , St Augustine, FL (10)

The floating docks are poorly bumpered and have long sections of bare wood which will mar you hull. Most locals who keep their boats there year round have installed their own rubrails. If you have a painted hull be careful. Great service, clean restrooms and easy access to Daytona

Heading South, 2015-02-08
Captain: , Beaufort, SC (50)

We have stayed at this marina numerous times and find it a must stop place for us. The restrooms, laundry and marina office are clean and the staff very professional and helpful. They strive to make your stay the best and it works. We also like the Saturday morning farmer's market and Pop's kettlecorn and Starvos pizza. We highly recommend this marina and the fuel (gasoline) price is competitive.

Well Managed Marina, 2015-01-20
Captain: , Delaware city (80)

Spent one night here and found everyone to be extremely professional. It is a large marina but the person who helped us with our lines also checked us in and so no extra trip to the office on the other side of the marina was necessary. Restrooms clean and secure. Restaurants and shops are closeby. Groceries are a bit of a hike.

Mixed Review, 2015-01-14
Captain: , Louisiana, MO (295)

Halifax Harbor is a great looking facility--nice floating docks, plenty of depth, wide fairways and right in the City. It is big so plan on walking a bit.

We arrived around 5:20pm in a FL monsoon with bielge alarms sounding--fortunately a false alarm. We stood off in the harbor for over a half hour waiting for the dockhand "who was helping other boaters" to provide docking assistance. Finally, the night watchman showed up in a driving rain. We got docked and the watchman asked me to walk down the dock to the bathhouse (75 yds) to fill out paperwork in heavy rain. I went to fill out the paperwork and got my copy, then walked back to the boat to finish connecting the water and power cord in the rain.

Turned out Halifax did have secure Wi-Fi, we just didn't get the code till then next morning when we went to the office.

WIFI is now Present on site, 2014-11-20
Captain: , Grand Rivers, KY (250)

Stopped in to gain information to move my boat to a permanent slip next summer. Very informative and helpfull staff. Clean restrooms. All night security on the docks. The do have WIFI now with two antennas and total coverage over the marina. Prices were comparable to the other marinas I visited.

Fuel Dock hands were great, 2014-11-19
Captain: , Ruskin Florida (702)

One of the quickest fuel turnarounds ever.. staff very efficient.

Clean but over priced, 2014-11-12
Captain: , Midland On (53)

Very clean and pretty Marina, Westmarine is no longer here, there is no internet, washroom were very clean, and they had nice big washing machine...supersize front loader ! The dock hands were very welcoming and informative.

Great ICW Location, 2014-11-08
Captain: , Solomons, MD (195)

I picked this marina based on the mileage we hoped to make by later afternoon. Needed a quality location with diesel and pump out and this was it to a "T". Very helpful dock assistants and great management team. Very clean bath houses with good showers. The docks are gated and they have pm security so safety was no concern at all. The transient rates are excellent and we got a discount on diesel with the boat US membership.

still no wifi, 2014-10-10
Captain: , iuka,ms (222)

everything about this marina is first class with the exception of NO wifi it seems the city doesnt feel its that important.i was told there was wifi down the street at a restaurant..thats kinda like checking into a five star hotel and being told there are no bathrooms, but the bus station down the street has them..PLEASE ,DAYTONA BEACH, fix this..

Urban Marina With Good Floating Docks, But Extra Charges, 2014-09-16
Captain: , Vero Beach, FL (884)

We paid $1.75/ft. for overnight dockage in early May.. Electric is $6.00 or more, wifi is described as available throughout the marina, but they charge for it; dock crew said about $10, which seemed a bit unusual to us.
Our 36' sailboat was easy to dock on the 40' concrete floating dock. Facilities were clean and in good shape. The whole dock complex is behind locked gates, with lots of daytime traffic outside; not so peaceful for some. To some degree based on personal preference, we'd probably give it a pass next time.

9/2014
We stopped in again, needing water and wifi. Rate quoted was $1.70/ft. Our 2013 cruising guide says the marina has wifi now, but that was not the case. We arrived just after 6:00PM and were checked in by the security guard. He advised us not to walk in various areas immediately around the marina in the evening.

Halifax Harbor Marina, 2014-07-07
Captain: , Frogmore, SC (20)

Nice Marina, Good showers, laundry, and close to public transportation. We too a bus to Publix and to a good restaurant. The staff was helpful and friendly.

Great "First Class" Marina , 2014-07-06
Captain: , Corpus Christi (221)

Large we'll run Marina...close to good places to eat....and fun...a quick trip to the airport...stayed here 4 months...felt exceptional safe for the boat and us...would definitely come back....as a mater of fact we found it hard to leave.

Very pleasant stop over, 2014-06-13
Captain: , Ft Lauderdale FL (271)

Chose HHM based on AC's reviews and we're not disappointed. Big spacious well appointed marina. Well marked channel, minimum current, and very well kept floating docks. Also within short walking distance to Beach Ave in the historic district where small shops and eateries are located. Would definitely come back

Good stop but would skip next time, 2014-04-19
Captain: , Palm Beach Gardens, FL (1897)

Friendly staff, we pulled in for two nights during a strong blow and the marina is well protected. Laundry was good bathrooms fair although we didn't use the shower. close to shopping and bus route. No pool would probably pass on this next time through

Big Beautiful Marina, 2014-02-23
Captain: , Deltaville, VA (602)

Everything about Halifax Harbor Marina is positive except for no WIFI. This is a huge marina and they spared no expense building and maintaining it. No WIFI available; you gotta be kiddin'.
Now the good stuff: Excellent staff, multiple bathroom/shower buildings, laundry, fuel, pumpout boat that comes to your boat, floating docks, cable TV, restaurant/bar on site. Only a few blocks to historic downtown area with many restaurants and shops. Chocolate shop that gives free tours of their candy kitchen was fun.
One more gripe - they have the most finicky magnetic locks on security gates and bathrooms that I have ever tried to use.

Good Marina BUT no WiFi, 2014-02-19
Captain: , Amelia Island, FL (80)

Easy in and out with channel deep enouth for my 6ft draft to get into without trouble. Plus - West Marine store on-site, very friendly staff, good security, and facilities in good repair. Con - no WiFi, some distance to heads/showers from transit slips, and cost a little steep for what you get. If good WiFi is installed and the price stays the same then it would be good value for your money.

Good Facility, Good Staff, 2014-01-28
Captain: , Mayport, FL, USA (317)

No wifi available at present. "We're working on it" was the story. Not at all convenient for most cruisers.

If north-bound, the port (green) entrance marker is obscured by a sign. Be careful when you make your turn.

Otherwise, a very good facility, good staff, nice place. Almost makes up for the lack of wifi.

Very Happy Here, 2014-01-19
Captain: , Savannah, GA (160)

Mimi & Larry, s/v Sweet Amelia Easy in and easy out, easy pump out and fuel dock at the entrance. Stayed 2 nights and enjoyed the great Saturday Farmer's Market north of the marina a short walk away. Delicious pizza that will deliver at the corner of South Beach St. and Orange St, even a shorter walk away at Stavro's Pizza House. Jean at the office and Don on the dock were so nice and helpful. Like new floating concrete docks, very secure and gated. We'll be back!

Big Marina, 2013-12-19
Captain: , Wilmington, NC (250)

Big marina. Easy to get in/out. Easy fuel dock. Restaurant on site, but depending on where your slip is, it might be a hike. Friendly dock hands and staff. (Dock hands have dinghys and might give you a ride to the office or restaurant if not busy). Bathrooms so so. No amenities particularly close, but bus stops at marina. Would stay here again.

Good location, 2013-12-08
Captain: , Pasadena,Maryland (510)

Protected location off ICW- no current and minimal current. This is a hugh mega-marina with good marina facilities, conveniently located. 7-11 nearby, but no grocery store nearby. West marine is gone. Plenty of resturants nearby.

Well marked access, 2013-12-04
Captain: , Sault Ste Marie, MI (240)

Making our way to our slip was seamless and the dockhand at the slip got us secured quickly and efficiently. We had the same sticker shock about the WIFI other reviewers mentions, but the other thing that was annoying was the cost for cable TV, which the dockhand thought was also $10. The West Marine move was unexpected, guess we need to read Active Captain more! The nearby Charthouse Restaurant had early bird specials that were significantly less than the regular menu and wonderful.

Mixed Review, 2013-11-29
Captain: , Bristol, RI (762)

This is a beautiful marina with excellent floating docks. The dock hands were very helpful. Fuel was reasonable. While the transient rates are competative, the WIFI and Cable are not included in the dockage feel. This is a shortcoming. Walking around Daytona was a great disappointment. It seems unsafe. I would not walk around at night.

We live here, 2013-11-16
Captain: , DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA (22)

Very well protected marina with floating docks, very friendly staff and good facilities. We lived on board here for a year but now live on land and still keep our boat at Halifax. the local West Marine store currently based here is moving 11/22/13 about 1.5mls westwards to a new store on W INternational Speedway bLvd, a stupid move by West in my opinion but the West number crunchers apparently think differently, it is not really a walkable option, so bike or taxi...

Friendly Marina, 2013-11-12
Captain: , St. Augustine, FL (175)

We stopped here one night on our trip from St. Augustine . Didn't notice the WiFi charge as I use an iPad for connectivity. Do't like charging for cable and wifi... Very friendly and efficent staff. Checked us in right at the boat. Never even saw the office. he restaurant was very good, if a long hike outside of security. Nice restrooms. The security gates worried me a bit as if they're really needed, I had to walk the dog outside of the gates... Will return for sure.

Great, except............, 2013-10-18
Captain: , Vero Beach, FL (184)

............a $10 charge for wifi?!?! Are you kidding me? Never heard of such a thing (and we have stopped at almost every marina from Rhode Island to the Keys). Nice, clean showers. AND recycling!! That makes up for lack of free wifi.....almost. Good walking for dogs, and they provide bags. Nice.

Probably a 5 star .... for now., 2013-08-23
Captain: , Acworth, GA (225)

Had been here several years ago on a different boat and liked it well enough to return. It is convenient to much that Daytona has to offer, but did not try to get around town this time due to staying only one night. Fuel prices competitive, friendly folks everywhere - both employees and slip holders. We now understand the need for security keys for access to the docks, laundry, and showers. When walking to the Chart House for dinner, we came across several homeless people sleeping on a bench between the marina and the restaurant. We felt safe, but just keep this in mind if you wander by foot after dark. Pam at the marina office made reservations for us at the Chart House and this gave us a $10 credit on our bill along with a personally printed menu with our name on it. This is an exceptional touch that was unexpected and itself gives the marina a 5 star rating. We also walked to the West Marine store on site and Larry at the store confirmed that this location is slated to close at he end of the year. It will be moved to another location and will become a large format store, whatever that is. The men's shower had exceptional water pressure - almost too much and it was not adjustable except for temperature. My wife said the women's shower was fine. Like others, we opted to NOT purchase Wi Fi service at an inflated price of $10 a day . We have encountered very few marinas who charge for Wi Fi service. We received more than 25 over the air TV channels, but I opted for the cable TV service at $4 per day. At least they tell you the charges up front and you can take them or not. Pam really made a difference in our stay with the Chart House reservation saving us $10 on our bill. We really got the VIP treatment, in spite of just staying one night. We will be back here the next time we pass through Daytona.

Beware Electrical, 2013-08-17
Captain: , Corpus Christi, TX (702)

Nice marina, very accommodating staff. HOWEVER electrical service provided 98 volts. It is old-style 208v 50 A, but the single phase 98 volts is lowest I've ever seen. Tough on 110v appliances with potential for damage, and had to run generator in slip because A/C kept kicking off due to low voltage.

Good marina%u2014Update 2013, 2013-07-05
Captain: , Jupiter, FL (1236)

All the things I wrote a few years ago are still true.
It was great to watch the 4th of July Fireworks shows. Other than that, it's quiet and clean. Other boaters are very friendly.
The internet is fast and reliable. Beacon has done a good job and we were able to watch 4 more episodes of Breaking Bad. This maybe due to our amplfied antenna on board, didn't try without it.
From last review:
Nice staff.
Great fuel prices.
Floating docks
Good food within walking distance

First Class, 2013-06-23
Captain: , North Myrtle Beach, SC (3210)

Easy docking. Facilities are great and the staff very nice. Bus near by and West Marine on site. Cable TV is $4, but it is excellent coverage. West Marine is closing 10/2013

What a marina should be, 2013-06-17
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (268)

Floating docks, clean restrooms and laundry, well marked entrance channel. They'll register you in your slip upon arrival and you drop your gate key in a basket extended on a pole by an employee at the fuel dock as you exit. West Marine is easy walk from marina.

Halifax River, 2013-06-12
Captain: , Freeport, Maine (175)

Clean, contemporary, large, and with good security. Nice to have a West Marine within a quick strolling distance. Various restaurants also available on foot. We declined to pay the $10.00 per day fee for WiFi as absurd... it should be free (like most it probably doesn't work well if at all). Floating docks are a welcome relief. Second time we have stayed there... it seems fine, a bit sterile.

Excellent Marina and location, 2013-05-15
Captain: , Longboat Key, FL (955)

Good floating docks, helpful staff, easy fuel and pump out at entrance, adequate bath facilities. There are a number of restaurant choices within walking distance (try the Chart House) as well as a West Marine at the north end of the basin. Only downside was the addtional charge for cable (which they had to unlock) -- at this price point, another $4.25 is really silly.

Probably won't come back, 2013-05-01
Captain: , Marathon, FL (376)

Previous visits to this marina were much better than this week. Not sure if it%u2019s a trend or just a bad day but we did not enjoy our night here.

Even though we requested something %u201Ceasy in and out%u201D, the dockmaster put us in a finger slip near the restaurant. It was almost impossibly to get into this slip with the wind blowing us off the dock. It took two people on the dock and two of us on the boat about 20 minutes to tie up.

The marina charges extra for everything and doesn%u2019t include Wi-Fi which we find important.

At 2am someone had a major argument outside the restaurant (50 feet from our boat) which woke both of us up. I was waiting for gunshots as the shouting increased. We were wide awake when they finally left.

No grocery in easy walking distance but lots of nice restaurants.

We probably won%u2019t stay here again.

poor 50A power for Transients, 2013-04-17
Captain: , Stuart (10)

If you need full 50A service (125V per leg) don't come here. I would not run my ACs on this power. If you have an adjustable output transformer you might be ok.

Good marina, 2013-03-31
Captain: , Baltimore, MD (110)

We have stayed several times at the Halifax Harbor Marina. Getting in and out of the slips has always been easy and they provide dockside checkin which is very convenient. The bathrooms and laundry are always clean and large and comfortable. Downside is the long walk to Publix, but upside is the walk to the restaurants / stores and out to the beach.

Very nice marina with some detractions., 2013-02-02
Captain: , Oriental, N.C. (130)

Marina was very nice but the walks to get anywhere are long. Also WIFI costs extra -- $10.50 per day. It is expensive enough to expect wifi to be free. But the availability of a West Marine on site and easy availability of city attractions, good restraunts made up for some of this. Good bathrooms & showers along with free pumpout.

Got to love floating docks, 2013-01-24
Captain: , Daytona Beach, Florida (119)

City run marina has pleanty of room in between docks, plenty of helpful staff and a nice big dog area. The security is good and the restaurant on site has good food and entertainment every weekend. West Marine store on site with friendly people there too. Right in downtown so plenty of walking options.

Cable TV at H18 did not work. Corroded., 2013-01-06
Captain: , Roseville, MN (362)

The staff person handled the radio very professionally and clearly. I did not ask about the dinghy escort as I had the marina layout on my laptop and could spot our path to our slip easily. But there she was. And then she was on the dock to catch lines. We filled out the paper work right there on the spot after she assisted with connecting the electrical cord. The key for the restroom was the strangest one we have ever seen. You get this metal with an arrow on it. You place it in a slot on this round structure where a door knob would be. Make sure you push it in all the way until it clicks. And then turn the whole round thing in the direction of the arrow marked in black marker pen. Voila! The door opens. Saw very few people for the marina is large. And most boaters are not there. Bathrooms and showers were clean and heated. The boaters' lounge is a long, long walk. And looked unused. The disappointment was that we could not watch the Packer-Vikings game because the cable connection was totally corroded. So watched the game on the internet with our own Verizon air card as they charge for internet access. Cool way to return the bathroom and gate keys: call the marina, motor to the fuel dock, and put the keys into a large extended net. Someone really figured out that solution. Enjoyed a great Thai restaurant: Siam.

Christmas eve in Halafax Harbor Marina, 2012-12-26
Captain: , Palm Coast, Florida (311)

Rented a slip overnight on Christmas eve. Nice people, nice floating docks, very helpful with assisting you getting settled in. Restroom and showers are convenient and clean. Met some very friendly boaters who live a board who were very helpful pointing out restaurants and facilities close by. Convenient West Marine in same complex. I have anchored off shore here and dinghied in, but this was a nice place to stop if you are looking for a slip for the night convenient and reasonable priced.

Unfortunate Problem, 2012-12-24
Captain: , Annapolis (70)

Nice enough marina that we stayed at 11-12-12 but woke to thousands of rust spots on our deck, canvas less than a year old and dinghy. Our guess is someone on the dock was cutting rusty metal and it blew our way. After over a month of work we are still trying to remove rust spots!

WiFi ala carte, 2012-12-19
Captain: , Pawleys Island (114)

Easy in and out. Clean and very nice environment. Also, great dog walking along the bulkhead. Park like setting. however, We plan our trips wifi to wifi because it is important to us and when the first amenity listed on the website is Wifi, at these rates, you assume that means it is part of the deal...it is not here. Since we were only there one night, it didnt make sense to have to sign up and pay for it. The misleading advertising cost one star in the rating.

Okay but Daytona not impressive, 2012-12-16
Captain: , Oriental (270)

Nice enough docks and the gentleman who received us and registered us at our slip was nice enough. We were disappointed to find the available Wifi means you can sidn up to pay for a Beacon account for internet access. Hmmmm. We ended up at a bar with food to have a beverage and an appetizer to be able to sit in their place and use the Wifi. The staff had to log us on with password, but did so after a bit.

Great place to spend the night or more, 2012-12-06
Captain: , Daytona Beach (42)

Safe and protected marina. Welcoming staff come to your boat with all the paperwork you'll need to do. They are glad to help you dock, and if you are to dock on I-dock the liveaboards are there to help as well.

First visit to Halifax Harbour by water, 2012-12-02
Captain: , Sanford, Fl. (887)

We stoped here for the night because the anchorage we had planned on using was not usable. The facility is nice. The dock hand was very helpful and brought all the paperwork with him. Took credit card information everything and we didn't even have to leave the boat. We were docked close to the restaurant and it got pretty loud and might bother some people. An enjoyable over night stay.

Thanksgiving with power :), 2012-11-23

Captain: , Halifax Marina Daytona Beach (300)

well maintained, very friendly staff, well protected

Nice Marina, 2012-05-29
Captain: , Marco Island, FL (1135)

The marina is big! But very goog floating docks and very protected. Bathrooms were clean and they will check you in dockside - you don't even have to walk up to the office.
We had dinner at the Blue Grotto - dinner was fine...we were the only ones in the place - so service was exceptional!

If it just had a pool and a better restaurant!!, 2012-05-07
Captain: , Palm Coast, FL (385)

Headed south on the Halifax River had a complete steering failure and had BoatUS take me here. They could not have been more accomodating. Even though I only have a 28' boat they gave me a face dock so the tow boat could more easily and safely get me in. The staff was right there, very helpful and efficient.

The marina itself is in excellent condition with floating docks and very nice shower facilities.

The only negative is that there is no pool and the restaurant, Blue Grotto, is, for lack of a better word, terrible. Got the fish sandwich and it was so bad I went back to the boat and micro-waved my own dinner.

The live-aboard community in this marina is exceptional. Very friendly and helpful with many offers to help out. Lots of good conversation and shared beverages.

Also, a great word of gratitude to Peter Grady of Marine Services of Florida out of Palm Coast. He was very prompt, dropped whatever he was doing and did a great job of getting me going again. Many thanks to everyone! A traumatic 3 days was made much better.

Saturday night = noisy, 2012-01-08
Captain: , Red Lion, DE (712)

2012-01-07 Dockside check-in was nice. Docks in good condition. Cable TV had lots of channels. Office would be a good hike, which we did not do. We accepted the majority opinion that the restaurant at the marina wasn't very good and ate left-over pizza. This was Saturday night and it was very noisy with loud music and lots of loud yelling and laughter. Made us appreciate the marinas that have 10PM or 10:30PM noise curfews. We would stay here again but never on a weekend night. Liked the unique way of returning the gate keys - as you are leaving you notify the fuel dock and they hold out a long pole with a cloth basket at the end and you drop the keys into it as you pass by. This was a first.

A pleasant week in Daytona, 2011-12-29
Captain: , Fremantle, West Australia (1448)

Very efficient marina staff. It's so large you get escorted to your slip by a small boat. Dockside check in. On board pump outs Wednesday and Thursday. Publix a fair way south - bike useful. Bike to beach and sports bars. Museum is worth a visit on Nova. Walk or ride up Intl. Speedway Bvde, not through the side streets.
I dock seems to have the best liveaboard community - very friendly and engaging people.

Large well maintained marina, 2011-12-27
Captain: , City Island New York (600)

We were met by a dockhand who apologized for all the bird poop on our slip, went to get broom and hose and cleaned it for us, then we had a slip side check in, all nice and easy. The showers and laundry are top notch, small book exchange. There is a nice harbor side walk into town which is clean but funky, no good shops and no market near by you have to take two buses or a cab to get to Walmart. No decent restaurants that we found nearby, eat aboard!

Good Marina, 2011-12-07
Captain: , Boston (232)

Very large marina in good condition. Dock staff was friendly and helpful. Convenient to West Marine. The area seems to be suffering a bit from the economy.

Good stop in Daytona Beach, 2011-05-30
Captain: , Josephine Alabama (183)

Very nice facilities and docks. Dockside check-in is a plus and it is fairly well protected from the weather. Convenient to downtown and a great pizza place. Marina restaurant not very good. Very secure and large...almost too large.

Real nice stop over, 2011-05-27

The floating docks are great and the staff is very helpful. Facilities were clean and comfortable. It is a good walk to everything but there are buses nearby.

Good stop in Daytona, 2011-05-13
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (384)

One of my more expensive stops, but nice protected basin is prefered to anchoring out in the river! Have always had good slip-side service, and there are a couple of good restaurants (esp pizza) within a 10 min walk. No groceries close by

Great location, good facilities, 2011-05-11
Captain: , Kingston, Ontario (1890)

thought the place was great. Boat side check in was wonderful, good security, clean facilities. Walked North and found lots of great eateries. Close to large library as well. Entrance has silted a bit, so not a lot of depth for a 6' draft coming into the channel.

West Marine right there, 2011-04-09
Captain: , Wilmington Deleware (330)

New floating docks, clean, nice showers and laundry at the end of each dock. West Marine right in the marina. Good restaurants close within walking distance.

A nice marina, 2011-02-24
Captain: , Daytona Beach, FL (533)

I've had my sailboat here since 2006 and I'm very happy with the south basin. Floating docks are awesome. The place is clean and secure.

I did have a situation with the guy who manages the place lying to my face a couple of years ago when my dock box was mistakenly cleaned out and my dock steps taken - by the dock crew while my boat was out of it's slip. I never got any of them back.

I will say however that the actual people that you deal with at the marina are quite friendly and helpful.

very impersonal staff what staff, 2011-02-23
Captain: , Westport,Ma (700)

we spent 3 days (weather) very nice marina we liked the slip side check in. but never saw any staff again. The office is isolated away from boaters. Bathrooms clean. Didn't like getting charged $6 for wifi and it was lousey. not much to do most stores were closed up. not much for resturants other than the blue grotto.

City of Daytona should take notice, 2010-12-21
Captain: , Morristown, NJ (383)

This marina could easily be 4 or 5 star place,,, The marina itself is wonderful and well run and clean It's an excellent place to tie up and feel secure... but usually when people dock, they want to get off the boat and explore. We docked here the other night and thought ,, we could do a little boutique shopping and possibly go for dinner. Well we were extremely disappointed there were only a few shops open along the five block main drag,, 2 of which were consignment shops for used goods. The majority of the stores were empty and depressing. The 'food' establishments consisted of a 'bar type' atmosphere. We realize there has been a recession, but if places like St. Augustine and Fernandina can offer many wonderful places to explore, then a big City like Daytona should respectively have much more to offer.
The whole package is necessary!! So wake up Daytona City

Great place to stop in Daytona, 2010-10-04
Captain: , Ft. Lauderdale (1134)

Easy on/off the ICW. Concrete floating docks. Friendly staff. Power is only 208. The only downside was a fellow in the next slip, who insisted on serenading the entire marina with his music. He ignored requests by security people to turn down the volume and left the boat to join friends a dock away. Finally turned the sound off around 9:30 PM. Made for a most unpleasant evening.

Great location with friendly staff, 2010-04-30
Captain: , Dallas Tx (539)

Great stop along the ICW. Restaurants within walking distance. Beaches are a bike or taxi ride across the bridges. Farmer%u2019s market on Saturday near the ballfield.

Check in is fast and efficient by the dock crew at the slip.

Note for transients assigned to the south side of J dock, there is a confusing 3 foot by 1 foot cylindrical buoy marked SHOAL located a fourth of the way between the J dock and the shore. The marina staff said that this is just a caution marker and there is no shoal. You can passed it on either side with good depth.

Great Stop with heated pool!, 2009-11-25

No wifi. Nice docks, met at the dock to check in (really cool).

We walked to dinner at the Chart House (ok, but doesn't live up to expectations). Chart House staff recommended we not walk to the resurant at night as it is in a rough neiborhood.

Very clean facilities, floating docks, and secure. One of the nicest marinas we have stayed in after 3 years of cruising the US East Coast.

Nice place, 2008-01-21

We made a very late arrival, and unlike most marinas, this place had established procedure for that. A security officer patiently gave us directions over VHF and stood waving a light to make sure we made the right turns, then made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable overnight. So much better than having to sneak in and tie up at the fuel dock until someone showed up for work the next morning!

Very clean, quiet marina. Clean restrooms/showers. Very helpful staff. Restaurants/bars within walking distance. West Marine store on premises. One of the largest marinas on Florida's east coast (750+ slips)
