Reviews for Halfmoon Marina
Worth the effort to get here, 2013-11-15
Captain: , London, UK (336)

A really good spot for sitting out strong blows from a northerly direction. We stayed two nights and were very comfortable alongside. The journey up the Timmins River from the ICW cannot be done using just your chartplotter. If you are doing it for the first time take it at high tide, and with careful attention to your depth sounder, a zig-zag approach up the river will have you in deep water all the way. We had no problems in our sailboat drawing 5.5ft. There are few facilities or shops nearby but the view is great and the people are delightful and could not have been more helpful even offering to pick up groceries for us from town.

Not difficult, 2012-11-11

Stayed here in Spring of 2012. Review is prompted by current reviews. If you call the marina and get approach directions from them and follow them it is not hard to get to the marina and there is plenty of water all the way for my 5' draft boat. Just an overnight stop but nice people and better than staying on the ICW in the dark. Docks were good and power was good.

Off the beaten path., 2012-04-30
Captain: , Savannah Bend Marina (114)

Yes it is hard to get too, there are markers I think # 1-7 they go back and forth from the North to South along the river. I believe 1 and 2 are on one side then 3 and 4 on the other etc., just follow these numbers back and forth to prevent running aground. Nice place though. Beautiful area.

Can't get there from here - or anywhere!, 2012-01-02
Captain: , CHARLESTON (330)

Coming from Beaufort south to St. Simons - couldn't make it - bad weather and fading light looking for a marina - tired two different tracks to get to this marina - hit shoaling on both tries - despite chartplotter. Do not try it!!!
