Gulfport is conveniently located to many other destinations in the area. Gulf Beaches and downtown St. Petersburg are minutes away. You can travel to Tampa, Ybor City and Busch Gardens in a half-hour, and a drive to or from Orlando is about two hours. Reviews for Gulfport Municipal Marina
Local boater, 2016-10-22
Captain: , Saint petersburg (10)

Good spot , good staff

One night at Gulfport, 2016-09-27
Captain: , Apollo Beach, FL (10)

We spent one night at Gulfport. It was comfortable and the dock master was helpful. The marina office is under renovation. Power was good. There is construction for the city sewers next to the marina but it did not bother us.

Labor Day Weekend, 2016-09-06
Captain: , Orlando (10)

The staff was very helpful and friendly. Great facilities and easy access to the gulf. Will use the Marina in the future

Safe and quiet, 2016-09-03
Captain: , Kemah (60)

A lot of construction going on at the marina, it looks like it will be a much nicer place when its finished. The transient dock is floating and clean; we stayed here during Hermine and were save all the time. Rather far from major groceries but close (less than a mile) to local restaurants and bars. It pays to have a bike here. Good place if you have dogs; nature park nearby. Currently no laundry and no AC in bathrooms; this will be fixed after construction is done.

Quick overnight, 2016-08-01
Captain: , St Petersburg, Fl (30)

We took a quick overnight at Gulfport to see some friends play music downtown. Apparently power was out and the radio and phones were down. We proceeded in and a dockhand out on the fuel dock shouted greetings and helped us into the pleasant transient floating docks. We enjoyed our stay and will be back. Once the construction on the new facilities is complete, and they can monitor radio and phones, I would likely offer 5 stars. Cheers,

Great staff, 2016-07-29
Captain: , St Thomas (20)

Staff easy, helpful and friendly. 50 amp power was good. Very protected location.

NIce Marina, 2016-07-27
Captain: , Freeport (141)

We stayed here for a few days on our trip from Texas. As previously stated the transient docks are floating and I draw 5.5 ft and had no problems. I would have given it 5 stars but there is no laundry. We needed to get back to Texas for a few months and sailed back from the Dry Tortugas to leave our boat here. The docks are fixed wood but are in good shape. Pump out connections are at each slip. They are building a new office building that will have laundry facilities. Yes there is not much around here but we loved the water front area and all the nice restaurants and bars

Once is enough, 2016-05-23
Captain: , Punta Gordo (51)

We stayed with 4 other boats Stayed 2/16 2 nights. Not much to the marina. Under construction dirty docks and shallow along back long dock. The town is ok nothing special.

Well-protected, friendly, and affordable, 2016-04-26
Captain: , Iuka, MS (1120)

April 2016 update: major upgrade to the land-based amenities is now underway with completion estimated in about 6 months.

Transient docks are floating, slips are fixed. Generally some of the best fuel prices in the area. Construction is set to begin this Spring on boater's lounge, laundry, and showers addition. Protected basin with zero current.

Not fancy..., 2016-03-16
Captain: , Illinois (2422)

but functional. Good fuel prices and clean restrooms and showers. Very protected from wind and wakes.

Gulfport is a great place, 2016-02-27
Captain: , Sunset Beach, NC (1122)

The marina is no better than many places, but I give this 5 stars because of the location. Nature preserve right next door with great trails for walking. 15 minute walk into town with lots to see and do. The most dog friendly place we've been in Florida so far, in fact a dog festival going on the weekend we were there. That said, it is a well protected marina with floating transient docks, very easy in and out. Price was very good at $1.50 / foot and subtract 10% for Boat US. They told me to use the Dockwa smartphone app and I did and the entire transaction was taken care of ahead of time, very smooth, even calculated the BoatUS discount.

Not a Nice Place and No Water, 2016-02-08
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (216)

We had six boat in here and all but one were on the transient sea wall. Our draft ranges from 5' to 5'6". We were all on the bottom at low tide (-6"). I needed at least a zero tide to get out. Our third boat was in a slip next to a boat with dog crap all over it. The staff were nice but the place is a haven for derelict boats.

very nice marina, 2015-10-17
Captain: , Biloxi, MS (458)

Came in for one night.mused Dockwa for reservation. Transient dock is side tie floating dock at west side of marina. Free pump out and reasonable diesel prices. Very helpful staff. Easy to maneuver in and out of. Good security. Clean bathrooms. Took a 5 foot draft in at low tide and never saw less than 7 feet.

Great place for wet storage, 2015-09-25
Captain: , Denver (86)

I put my boat here for the summer of 2015, and it has been a wonderful experience! Slips are inexpensive, and based on the length of your boat. Electricity is inexpensive. Allowing liveaboards would be a great improvement! Be respectful, then you get treated with respect.

Gulfport Municipal Marina

Great location, 2015-04-21
Captain: , Naples, FL (682)

This is a well maintained and friendly marina in a great location. Easy ride via Cat Point channel from the ICW. Marina entrance has range markers that make visual pilotage easy. Town of Gulfport is an attractive artsy type of place.
Marina facilities are clean and well maintained. Great hot water. Transit dock is the furtherest dock into the marina but has plenty of room to turn nd berth port side to for an easy departure.

Fantastic Service and Decent Transient Docking, 2015-04-02
Captain: , New York City (20)

We were a sailboat with close to a 5' draft / 57' mast. I will say getting here via the rectangular ICW is not the most ideal - but TOTALLY WORTH IT. Dock assistance and management was perfect. While we did pass a few marinas coming in, this is a great gem of a find - esp when there's a few bars and main street about a 15 min walk. Definitely will come by here again!

Funky little town., 2015-02-17
Captain: , Honolulu (531)

Gulfport Municipal Marina is a comfortable, small marina with a very hospitable staff, 15 minute walk into the artsy fun community on the water.

$1.50 a foot, 10% boat us discount in February of 2015

Awesome Surprise, 2015-02-06
Captain: , Anna Maria Island (462)

If you like "old florida" this is truly a must stay! Plan a few days as there are many outstanding resturants and always something going on in town. One of our favorite coffee & MORE stops is Mangia Gourmet on Beach BLVD. Not just a coffee stop all organic foods, Beer, wine eat in or take out. Many other good places to eat as well.
Tony @ the Gulfport Mun. Marina goes above and beyond to make sure you are well taken care of he even loaned us his personal pickup to run for parts (a brand new one at that!!!!) The marina right up is spot on as far as old florida, eclectic, fun, fun, fun, you can hit the bike trail from town and ride clear to Tarpon Springs if you so desire. So much more we could add but you really need to see it for yourself. I know we will be back for sure.

Great marina, even better town, 2014-12-09
Captain: , Atlanta (770)

We left our boat here 2 wks. while we went home for T 'giving. Found a good mechanic (Ray Rodriguez) to do minor work on boat while gone. Good walk into town (maybe a mile?) to wonderful array of restaurants and shops. Gulfport equal to Tarpon Springs for our favorite spots so far.

This is one of the best run City Marinas, 2014-11-19
Captain: , Lizella GA (1414)

I have stopped at many City Marinas and this one is hard to beat. The prices are good both for dockage and fuel, pump out is free and the transient floating dock in perfect and easy to get to. The staff helped dock at both fuel dock and overnight dock and allowed me to keep my truck and trailer there no charge while I sailed the coast. I will be back here again.

Cheapest fuel around and a nice transient stop, 2014-08-03
Captain: , High Springs, FL (686)

We topped off here as it was the cheapest diesel fuel around. Tied up to the transient dock for a few hours and caught a ride down to one of the local restaruants.

great place cruiser friendly, 2014-07-13
Captain: , Port Arthur, Tx (476)

stayed on long floating dock with good power 50 amp and water. resterandt not to far away short walk but we chose cab for return to marina after dark $5.00. fuel prices good at time we stopped friendly staff.

Good transient dockage, 2014-02-19
Captain: , Green Cove Springs, FL (333)

This is a well protected location. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. Facilities are good.

Floating Transient Docks, 2014-02-12
Captain: , Hampton NH (252)

The first floating docks we've found since St. Augustine (there may be some but not at any marina we've used). It is extremely well protected and quiet even though there are lots of boats in the marina. The staff couldn't be more helpful. There are drawings of a new office complex on the wall and I hope it comes to fruition since it is needed. However, we were pleased with everything and all our needs were met. I was given a BoatUS discount although I didn't expect it and if it had an on-site laundry facility I would have given it five stars.

Quiet and Protected, 2014-01-30
Captain: , Deltaville, VA (602)

Gulfport Municipal is not glitzy but is a very comfortable and protected marina. Mostly sailboats in this marina.
There are 5 small working shrimp boats that depart between 5:00pm and 7:00pm and return around 3:00am each day. We never heard them return and we were only 200 +/- feet from them.
Marina staff is helpful and friendly. Nice, clean bathrooms and showers. Strong WIFI. One 30 amp and one 50 amp on each pedestal. Floating, side tie transient dock and floating fuel dock. Wide turning area at the transient dock makes for easy docking.
No cable TV. No courtesy car. No laundry. Small ships store with a few basics.
Walk about 3/4 mile to old downtown Gulfport and many eclectic bars, restaurants, and shops. I will stop here again for safe and secure overnight.

Love the Funky Town!, 2014-01-21
Captain: , Castine, Maine (2964)

We'd been reading reviews and the information Denis provides about the many activities for some time and were pleased to be able to finally visit. The small town of Gulfport can only be called funky. You won't find a Gap or a Starbucks. But you will find a nice mix of unusual shops, crafts, and interesting restaurants. It's an easy walk from the marina and shouldn't be missed. The staff was friendly and helpful. There's a nice park with nature trails that the canine crew loved. Definitely something for everyone. Don't pass this by.

Excellent Marina, 2013-07-14
Captain: , Gulfport, FL (80)

This marina is quiet most of the time, weekends see it more active with other boaters launching from here. There is no current, and docking is a breeze. The transient docks are floating and very nice if you are staying in the area and looking for a sheltered marina. The ship store is adequate with the essentials. About a mile away you will find Gulfport with many restaurants and bars to choose from. All-in-all, a very nice place to dock your boat and relax. The marina staff are very friendly and accomodating.

Very Nice Marina, 2013-06-21
Captain: , Fayetteville, Arkansas (20)

Moved my newly purchased trawler from Tampa to this marina to prepare for trip to Gulf Shores, Al. Very friendly and helpful staff. More than willing to help in any way possible. Short walk to historic Gulfport, a eclectic little town with many shops, bars and restaurants. Good fuel prices at marina. Would be a five star marina if it had all floating docks.

Enjoyable stop, 2013-03-24
Captain: , Brookings (308)

thanks to the helpful dockmaster & staff. Not alot of fluff but a great Great spot to stop & enjoy Gulfport & St. Pete. Easy walking distance to downtown Gulfport & fun restaurants, bars & shops. They had their marine flea market right next to the marina the weekend we stopped. Got some good deals. We walked about 6 blocks to a bus stop & road to downtown St. Petersburg. The Honda Grand Prix was on so heard the cars & enjoyed the activity of the downtown area. Stopped for 1 night & stayed another.

Great stop for Loopers, 2012-12-03
Captain: , Murfreesboro, TN (360)

We decided to dock Lifestyle II at Gulfport MM while we returned home for a while. Such a nice marina, clean and friendly. Denis will help all boaters any way possible. Locked gates offer security and a city park offers walks or sunset views. A short ride to grocery stores and resturants.

A Gem that you'll love., 2012-11-26
Captain: , Sarasota, Fl (168)

Great staff with very helpful outlook. One of our top 2 west coast stops!! Good fuel prices, nicely maintained and modern facility. Clean, protected, welcoming, pet friendly. 2 lane concrete launch ramp is steep and deep which may pose problems for larger trailered boats like ours but typical day traffic is very happy. Overnight boat trailer parking is plentiful and inexpensive. 3/4mi walk West through nice quaint tropical area to quirky old Fl town. Must do breakfast at Stellas, lunch at Pias, dinner at Pegs or Blue Fin, beers at Omaddys. Groceries and trinket shopping on Main st with day use docks at foot of main st by fantastic retro '40s style dance hall. Town art shows, farmers market, events are held often. Ck for schedules. Easy taxi to downtown St Pete for 1st Friday nite events too.
Only bump for us was the steep/deep ramp for our larger boat and no trailer rinse zone for overnight users. A true top notch value with fantastic staff!!
Mike and Kelli really enjoyed GPMM

Low fuel price but not the best for transient., 2012-11-07
Captain: , Mesa AZ (1609)

Our draft of 4.5 was too deep for floating dock, so we tied on T head. Dock was loaded with reash wet bird droppings which we had to spray off before we could get off boat. The dock hand was willing but inexperienced with line handling and a bit rude.

Marina office staff were nice. Town is a 30+ min walk. No laundry. Low fuel price & secure shelter from wind/storms are the real draws.

Nice marina, 2012-10-25
Captain: , Corpus Christi (301)

The staff was helpful and the transient price was fair. The bathroom was clean

Quiet town, 2012-08-09
Captain: , charleston (761)

Gulfport is a quiet town with a great marina. Staff was most helpful with docking on floating docks. Easy pumpout. Bathrooms clean. Fifteen minute walk to town but we all need the exercise. Good place to stop.,

Tampa Sailing Squadron Visit, 2012-06-04
Captain: , Apollo Beach (470)

We have a newcomer's cruise every May to Boca Ciega YC. This year, with record turnout and short notice - Tony at Gulfport Municipal Marina was able to take care of us. We were closer to the party than the folks on the BCYC docks! Great clean bathrooms. Would stay here again without question.

Quiet marina, solid floating docks, 2012-03-31
Captain: , Dunedin, FL (6425)

Transient dock is floating concrete, side tie off. Marina itself not in most attractive setting, but facility was well maintained. Showers/Restrooms excellent. Restaurants nearby, but we did not check any out the night we stopped in.

Gulfport Marina, 2012-02-17
Captain: , fairhope, alabama (174)

Top notch marina. Well protected!!! Staff most helpful. Floating transient docks. Clean showers.

Old Florida Gem, 2012-02-05
Captain: , Punta Gorda. FL (360)

Just a bit off the crowded, glitzy high rise condo busy-ness of St Pete beach is this very nice, well-priced marina with facilities as per previous reviewers. We had lots of help with our dock lines. Staff wants to please. Eight block walk (not too taxing) to Beach Avenue where all the great liitle restaurants and craftsy shops are located. Contrary to a well known cruising guide, the streets seem perfectly safe. Gulfport feels like Florida of the 50's/60's.

Quiet, Protected, Clean, 2012-01-20
Captain: , Edenton, NC (887)

Really enjoyed the funky little town of Gulfport. Great meal at the Basque restaurant. The friendly staff also man the marina store so they are unable to assist with lines, but transient dock is a long side tie so wasn't an issue. Doesn't get five stars only because grocery is a good distance away. Excellent value.

Great area to visit, 2012-01-19
Captain: , Galena, MD (1826)

Marina is very protected and in good shape. Floating transient dock close to heads and shower. Longer stay at fixed slips a longer walk. Pumpout at slip at your convience and free. Downside is no laundry and long walk to grocery store.
The town is a wonderful place to visit. Great restaurants and Tuesday farmers market. Peg's restaurant is brewing small batch beers, very good. Breakfast at Stella's is a treat not to be missed.
Will stop here whenever in the area.

Captain: , East Falmouth, MA (1523)

We stopped here after crossing the Gulf from Carrabelle. I was looking for a reasonable place to leave the boat for a month while home for the Christmas and this looked good. I was not dissappointed. The staff is friendly, the rest rooms spotless, and the docks were excellent. There are even pumpouts (free) at every slip. On the down side; no laundry, long walk (1m.) to town, and the area around the marina was not very good. They do offer free loaner bikes.

A nice, well-protected, friendly marina, 2011-12-14
Captain: , Apollo Beach, FL (80)

Our stay here was more accidental than planned, but what a pleasant surprise! Seeking shelter from blustery November winds, we found it to be a well-protected, quiet haven with nice facilities, lacking only laundry and a cruiser's lounge. The staff was very helpful and friendly as well. Bicycles were provided for our tour of the quaint, not-to-miss city of Gulfport. Dinner on the patio at Pia's was a tasty interlude one sunny day and breakfast at Stella's is mandatory to start a day properly. The marina, shops, restaurants and galleries are as well-placed as the bricks in the streets. Oh, and pump-outs are free (a thing near and dear to the hearts of cruisers). 360 degree protection from the elements and new floating transient dock with gated entry lets one sleep well. The parakeets on a fly-by rival the peacocks on Longboat Key.

Great Stop, 2011-11-22
Captain: , Winter Garden, Fl (2153)

We came in after the crossing from Carrabelle - long night. The marina staff was helpful and friendly - waiting at the floating dock to help with lines, etc. Close to restaurants and some shopping within a 10 minute bike ride. No laundry, no courtesy car.

Nice floating dock for transients, 2011-11-11
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (639)

Very friendly staff. This marina has the fastest and best FREE pumpout on the west coast of Florida! The town is quaint with some unique shops and several restaurants. We always attend and enjoy a play by the Gulfport Players - check this out.

Nice friendly staff, 2011-05-22
Captain: , Mexico Beach, Florida (20)

We stayed here for about a week due to weather. Very nice staff and very helpfull. Very nice little town of Gulfport. Nice restaruants in walking distance. Neat little hideaway place. They plan on having a mooring field but the marina rates were descent.

Great Marina, 2011-05-06
Captain: , Cocoa Beach, Fl (20)

The Bucket List stayed on the floating transient dock and this is a well protected, clean marina with a super friendly and knowledgable staff. We will definitely stay here again.

Excellent Marina and Staff, 2011-04-19
Captain: , Punt a Gorda, FL (10)

This is a modern and clean marina with a very friendly staff. The showers are clean and kept that way. Everything is secured within the gates of the marina. The docks are floating docks. A pleasant 10-15 minute walk to the fun town of Gulfport.

nice marina, 2011-04-19

gulport marina, 2011-04-07
Captain: , Houston (10)

Great marina. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Rode out a pretty bad storm tied up to the 300 ft lay along dock, and was glad we were tied up there. Free bikes to ride. Wish they had laundry facilty on site though!! Hope to stop here again!

Friendly Gulfport a calm haven, 2011-03-27
Captain: , Houghton, MI (156)

Chip Ahoy stayed for two nights in March at the Gulfport docks that have been nicely fitted out to accommodate Loopers and Snowbirds as well as other transient pleaure craft. The showers were clean, the store stocked with necessities (bait, snacks, beer and ice cream!) and the staff was outstanding as far as pointing us in the right direction to the grocery store and assisting in docking and fueling. The Wifi worked well and the trek to the artsy and fun bayside waterfront is only six blocks. This is a very protected marina, so if the winds are piping up it is a great place to ride out inclement weather. Major reprovisioning is possible, but requires taking a cab or bus, don't walk to Sweet Bay like we did! Worth the short sail up the bay, we will definitely stay at affordable, low-key, friendly Gulfport Municipal Marina on future cruising adventures.

Great Marina, 2011-03-04
Captain: , Gulfport (23)

Great service, good depth of 6', help at the dock, gas and diesel, propane, live and frozen bait, food, drinks, clean rest rooms, great rate for transents, and much more!

Very protected, great staff, great price point for area, good clean bathroom & showers, would be five stars with a laundry and closer to food stores.

Very protected. really nice place, 2010-11-13
Captain: , St. Petersburg, FL (537)

We kept our sailboat here for about 4 years, and we only left because we were moving aboard, and they do not allow liveaboards here. Very well protected from wind and currents. The dockmaster and other staff are very friendly and courteous. Very good access to the Gulf either through Pass-a-grille (to the south) or up the ICW to the North. Also good access to Boca-Ciega and Tampa Bays.

User Friendly Marina, 2010-10-20
Captain: , Panama City, Florida (511)

We stopped and bought fuel and filled up the water tanks here. Easy access, very well marked, very friendly. Nice floating fuel dock.

Easy in and out, 2010-08-31
Captain: , Gulfport Florida (162)

Well marked, lots of room and draft. 6'draft no problems. Water, fuel, pumpout... small marina store. Well maintained, very friendly with great slips, locked gates. Free wi-fi. For restauants it is better to anchor off the beach and dinghy in, or dingy from the marina to downtown.

Not close to shopping, but cheaper dockage rates. Stored my boat there for a month, on new floating Transient docks, $400 in 07.

Great marina, weekly rate of $27.70 a day for 37ft. Staff very helpful, loaner bicycles and great area for leisurely bike ride to hardware store and auto parts. Very secure and VERY dog friendly.
Don't miss the house that feeds the feral parrots every day - in front of marina.

Excellent marina, 2007-04-17

This marina was completely re-built approx 4-5 years ago, and has a pump-out connection at each slip! Excellent security, and an extremely well protected location make this an outstanding marina
