Reviews for Gulf Shores Marina
Overnight stay, 2016-03-06
Captain: , Fair Haven, New York (249)

Came here to get across Mobile Bay ahead of bad weather. When we called we were told that the water may be a little thin in the morning at low tide in the channel out of the marina. We came any ways at high tide, (no better options before dark). Saw 3.8 foot on the way in in one spot, 6 foot at the dock. since we draw nearly 4 foot we will now wait for the tide to rise to around 5.5 to 6 foot so we can get back out. The marina is owned by the bank and has minimal facilities. The restaurant is good and friendly and the marina staff are friendly and helpful as well. Watch out for the sand spurs.

Needs work, 2012-10-21
Captain: , Fairhope, AL (141)

No staff on sight at 1700 despite published closing of 1800. I am not squemish, but all slips outboard of the first two rows are covered in gull poop to a level that requires some local cleaning to avoid tracking it all on the boat. Tried two seperate slips to find a shore power outlet that worked. On the up side, if you are a history buff, Ft. Morgan is a 25 minute walk east. Spring and fall offer a great opportunity for bird banding and viewing. Ft Morgan Pizza will deliver to the marina if you are tired of Tacky Jacks. Bathroom/shower were clean, but open to the public across from the front door of the restaurant. The sundry store was well stocked for most needs short of a grocery store.Diesel was $4.49 as of 11-15-2012. As you try to find the entrance to the channel from the north, sight in on the beige condo with the green metal roof which is about the first prominent object from the west end of Ft Morgan Arm. Then find a large beige boat barn just to the east of the condo. Look for two unmarked white poles that define the outer edge of the channel. Vessels in excess of 5' draft should consult the marina office and tidal information.

Great Place to Stop after being offshore, 2012-04-06

Stopped here after spending several days offshore. Great Restraunt and friendly staff. Let us shower even though we were not staying. The restraunt was good and enjoyable

Good stop over in the summer, 2011-06-08
Captain: , Pensacola, FL (390)

This Marina is almost at the end of the Ft Morgan road. Staff is freindly and facilities are well maintained. They do need to invest in better protection for the marina. The north wall is almost non existant and the marina takes waves pretty steadily.

Attached to the Marina is Tacky Jacks. A great little bar and grill

Not bad. Primarliy for powerboats, 2011-04-20
Captain: , Mandeville, LA (20)

Open to northerlies if you are at back of marina. 5.5 feet between outer marks at low tide. Fixed piers are a bit high. Power stanchions are between slips rather than on or at end of finger piers. Will need long power cord. A bit buggy due to nearby marsh and lowlands.

On site restaurant was decent and local.

I'd return if weather bad and wind not from north, otherwise.....

Navigation update, 2011-03-24
Captain: , New Orleans (33)

The management states that approach is by channel with 8' depth, and 8' at the docks. Marina does have electric, which is metered. Heavy winds out of the north can come over the seawall. Otherwise, the rates are as stated, and this marina would be a good choice as much more reasonable than marinas along the ICW.

Good place to hide from a summer thunderstorm, 2011-02-11
Captain: , Orange Beach, AL (263)

Nice marina, Traditional docks, bathrooms with showers, although no AC which sucks in the summer. Rough marina during winter with north winds. Great dockstore, lots of food and supplies which is good since there is nothing within 4-8 miles for grocery. decent restaurant on site.
