Reviews for Grove Isle Marina
Courteous staff but Overpriced Fuel, 2017-03-26
Captain: , St. John USVI (1205)

Mar -25-2017 Went to fuel dock to fill up dinghy gasoline fuel tank. Gas was $4 p/gal. A short walk to a filling station gas was $2.45. You decide how you feel about the price difference. For me, we will not be returning to refuel.

It took 3 days to get the "lay of the land", 2016-06-27

Entering late on a Sunday afternoon, ran aground at high tide between the channels, (5' draft), specifically between G"9" and G"1" but on the north (red) side where chart shows deeper water. Should have stayed on the green side, according to local knowledge provided by Tim when he returned on Tuesday, and as shown in the satellite vew. Once docked, Jorge provided an excellent tour of the facilities but somehow we missed that all are closed on Mondays. By Tuesday, we enjoyed pool, bar, restaurant, coffee and pastries, trips to town, meeting Tim and others on the docks. Departure on Thursday at mid tide was uneventful. Will return but with local knowledge. Tim was a big help.

4 Stars for facilities - 1 for entrance, 2016-04-29

I bumped on the way in at mid tide and ran aground on the way out an hour after low tide. The intersection of the two channels is very trickey. I even got guidance from Tim the dockmaster on the exit. The grouding is my fault and don't blame Tim but it just goes to show that very specific directions are needed to understand the intersection of the two channels. I thought I had it right with Tim's guidance. The intersection is the only spot where the water is skinny. The facilities are very nice but not worth the hefty $4/ft. that I was charged. The slip I was in was privately owned and the marina takes a cut so perhaps this dictates the high rate.

What a great place this is. A bit tricky getting to it, but as long as you follow the marked channel, you will be fine. We had no problems with our 5.5 draft. Once at the marina, the dockhands are polite, friendly and go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. Tim the dock master is incredibly nice. The island is not accessible to the public. There is a gate at the entrance with a guard 24/7 and only members, residence and marina guest can enter. And believe me they check. Wonderful Spa, great restaurant, tiki bar....a little paradise only 5 minute drive from down town coconut grove.
Will go back for sure.

Not bad but not favorite, 2014-05-19

Marina looks a little tired. Owner-owned slips make the availability and pricing kind of random. The adjacent hotel has nice facilities.

Friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff, 2012-05-13
Captain: , Temple Terrace, FL (234)

We were here for two weeks with engine problem. Luis, Fred, Tim and Ricky were most helpful with recommendations and other assistance. Left boat in their care for 1 week while we returned home. Best coffee around--MOAC. Hated to leave. We look forward to our return.

NIce facility with a great staff. Coconut Grove/Dinner Key is easily accessible by dinghy.

Great place to spend time, 2011-11-04
Captain: , Nashville, TN (290)

Marina is good with fixed docks. Tide variance isnt large so line adjustment wasnt major. Great facilities with spa, pool and great restaurant, although expensive. Good protection from weather. Within walking distance of Coconut Grove. We will come back

A real piece of Paradise, 2011-02-02
Captain: , Newport,RI (178)

3 pools, 16 tennis coursts, great gym, spa, ***** hotel, tiki bar, walking path around island, walking distance to a "Fresh Market", US Saling Center, 3 Yacht clubs, down town Coconut Grove, "Monties" famous rest., 20 min car ride to South Beach, MIA airport, 45 min drive to FLL.

Not always space, but if you are lucky and get in, you will have a wonderful time.

A little strange to find the marina off after coming under the bridge to Key Biscayne. Follow "Deering Channel" in, and then you will make a "hard port turn" (south) and follow the markers past "Mercy Hospital" to the entrance markers to Grove Isle. Plenty of water, just stay in the middle of the well marked channel.

Grove Isle Marina, 2011-01-06
Captain: , Daytona Beach,FL (172)

Gated marina and close to Coconut Grove. Nice resort amenities and very friendly marina staff. Since this is a private marina and the slips are individually owned the price can vary. Slips can range from 2.50 per ft. to 4.50 per ft. with electric included. Grocery and restaurants within 2 miles.

Excellent facility, 2008-04-26
Captain: , Vancouver BC (500)

Great staff, most dockage is for about 45 ft max unless on outside slip, tennis courts, pool, restaurant, 8.00 cab ride to Coconut Grove downtown.
Upscale hotel and you can use the facilities.
