Reviews for Green Turtle Bay Resort
Green Turtle Bay, 2016-10-21
Captain: , Blanco, TX (420)

Really enjoyed our time here, very easy access to slips, docks very convenient to bath/laundry facilities. Especially liked the welcoming attitude of all the crew here, even when they were completely full with loopers, we were told that they would find a spot for us. Great customer service!

Weird biling issue with taking on fuel, 2016-10-15
Captain: , Long Island, NY (204)

We stayed for just a short, two day visit. Happy to meet up with other loopers; most of us put together on the uncovered dock, which is convenient to all. Nice facility, well maintained. "yacht club" restaurant average, and a bit overpriced. We were encouraged to bring our own drinks to the restaurant as this is a dry county; were charged a $5 "corkage fee". We took on fuel, no issue with the quality but we keep careful track of gallons that we take on as well compare fills for port to starboard tanks. We were noticably off from port to starboard and when we later checked the receipt we were charged for more gallons than we actually took on. As no one fueled after we us, we asked for correction and had to go out to fuel pump with attendant, who had no explanation why the receipt indicated one number of gallons, and the pump another. Also we did not seem to see any "looper" discount from the price on the pump.

Excellent marina to stay as well as have repairs done, 2016-10-07
Captain: , Keswick, Ontario, Canada (11)

We really enjoyed our stay at GTB. It's a great place to meet loopers and has great facilities on-site plus a courtesy vehicle to get provisions. We hit a submerged object and identified mechanical issues. GTB quickly identified that we had a broken motor mount and obtained and installed the replacement part the next day. They also hauled us out to check for damage and while we were out we had our rudder logs repacked. Gary and his team at GTB Boat works got us up and running again quicker than what we thought was possible.

Great place to rest up, 2016-10-05
Captain: , Portsmouth (352)

Stayed here a week after many long days on the rivers - pay for 5, get 2 free. Had some great food, saw a show at the Badgett playhouse, hung out with lots of other loopers - the marina even hosted a bonfire on the beach including s'mores. The wife treated herself to some spa time. Make sure to borrow a courtesy car and check out the elk and bison preserve on The Land Between the Lakes Park. We got there about an hour before dusk and got up close to lots of elk.

Most accomodating, 2016-09-26
Captain: , Jacksonville Fl (1459)

Even though they were really full and had a boat show coming up they made room for us and a buddy boat. Really needed a rest after the Mississippi log run and the lock 52 experience. Bill and his staff have a never say no attitude and work hard to see every need is met.

Great place, 2016-09-25
Captain: , Wilmington,NC (230)

Stayed there for a week recovering from the Misssissippi and Ohio and lock 52. Then came back after a week away to visit Nashville. They have it all. Great location, nice docks, on-site restaurant, clean and several showers, extensive mechanical capabilities. Joe at onsite Boatworks replaced a windlass relay for me and stayed late to do it.
Great place to stay.

a site for tired eyes when heading south, 2016-09-19
Captain: , Anna Maria Island (462)

GTB has always been a fun place for us to stay. This is our 4th stay here, each time we have found them to be friendly, helpful, & welcoming. They offer laundry, two on-site resturants, a courtesy car, good parts store & haulout services with a good repair center. I would have giving them 5 stars but a few of the marina facilities are in need of updating.

Worth the stay, 2016-09-15
Captain: , Punta Gorda FL (1709)

Faciltities are getting long in the tooth and the spiders and midges are a real problem. But, very helpful staff and free courtesy car. Patti's 1880 Restaurant is a must visit. Other downside is, it is pricey. Ship's store is expensive, diesel is high compared to other marinas locally. Best deal is to be a Boat US member and stay for one week. $250/week for a 40 foot vessel. The Commonwealth Yacht Club is included in your stay and worth a visit. Full recepical priviliges, good food. FYI, you can join the Commonwealth Yacht Clucb for $500 and $50/yr annual dues. This will give you receprical priviliges at over 1500 yacht club in the US. Free tansient dockage included at many clubs. Better marina and prices are just up is just 10 miles up the Cumberland - Kuttawa Marina.

Management response:
Bert… Thank you for the review. Of course, we prefer five star reviews, and work diligently to earn those accolades. But, fewer stars can be a tool for improvement. I’m a bit sensitive to bug comments due to the effort we’ve put forth to address this nuisance. From our annual customers, the consensus throughout our harbor is that we have made tremendous strides in this area this year. However, the transient slips in which “My Way Again” was most recently moored are older, for sure, and next to the Marina building, with the outdoor lights burning all night, I get that this is a bug attractor, which brings spiders, etc.

For fuel, we use Valvtect additive, which is excellent, but does add some costs to the end product. Because of more boaters buying our diesel, we are able to turn over our fuel often, which means frequent price adjustments. The turn-over makes for fresh diesel, a potentially significant factor when considering fuel filter maintenance. We do offer $0.15 discounts to AGLCA members, who are our primary Sept-Oct. over-nighters.

Around the Lakes, liquor laws have changed – positively – in the counties surrounding us, though Livingston, our county, has yet to catch up. With that, marina facilities on both Barkley and Kentucky Lakes have made improvements, making our lakes an ever more enticing destination for boaters. Green Turtle Bay’s hope, shared with Kuttawa Harbor, Buzzard Rock, Eddie Creek, Prizer Point, Barkley State, Kentucky Dam Marina, Lighthouse Landing, Moors Resort, and all the other facilities on both lakes, is that you fall in love with the Lakes and all that we have to offer, making somewhere here in western Kentucky your permanent boating home. Thanks for visiting us, and enjoy your cruising.

A real jewel, 2016-09-15
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (2486)

Our 3-day stay here was absolutely great. While the marina/resort complex is large, we were closer to the baths/showers and one of the pools than we have been in hundreds of recent marina stays. The harbormaster and staff were great, and one of their two courtesy vehicles was perfect for provisioning at the local market. Eating at Patti's restaurant was a bonus.

Very Nice Marina for a Long Stay or Quick Stopover, 2016-09-15
Captain: , Mystic, CT (180)

Perfect full service resort marina for a stopover or longer term stay to relax. The facilities are upgraded and very well maintained. Truly a resort environment complete with swimming pools, spa, and restaurants on site. Loved the turtles. They offer a stay five days and get two additional days free package. We stayed a week, traveled to Nashville for a few days, then returned for another week before heading south. We had a vibration %u2013 service met us when we arrived, pulled the boat, replaced the props with our spares along with the zincs and had us back in the water in 2 hours. Staff here are super friendly and accommodating. Met quite a few cruisers and marina boat owners to exchange ideas, experiences and insights for traveling on. Restaurants onsite or a short shuttle ride into town. Courtesy car(s) for trips into local area towns for provisions or touring. Laundry, Gas, Diesel, Pumpout, Wi-Fi, well stocked boat supply store. Would definitely come back.

Great Marina, 2016-09-06
Captain: , Huntington Harbour, CA (317)

This marina, and especially the pool, are welcome after the epic of the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers. Also, ask Carrie about the fabulous cream that she makes for use on scars and cuts.

Wonderful Marina, 2016-08-18
Captain: , Portland, Oregon (496)

From the Captain: There is every conceiveable amenity available at Green Turtle Bay. We enjoyed one of three pools, the restaurants, and the ships store. The store is stocked better than any marina store we have been in and their prices are reasonable.
From the Admiral: Ladies you will love the spa! They do manicure and pedicure or a massage and really be pampered. Enjoy.

First Class - Must Visit, 2016-08-10
Captain: , Naples, FL (682)

This marina is outstanding in every regard and is the first to receive a five star rating from me. It is a full service marina with haul out facilities and a well stocked ship's store. A great R & R stop after negotiating the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers. Fuel is competitivelly priced so this marina was one of my planned loop refueling stops.
The entry channel is well marked and deep albeit with small private buoys. Transient slips are 60 x 18 single occupant with floating piers. Heads, showers and laundry are on the same floating dock as the transient slips and the marina office. What a welcome change to have lots of strong flowing hot water in a roomy and clean head/shower suite.
The marina is peaceful and surrounded by trees with many chairs and picninc tables. It is part of a resort complex and transients have access to a health spa and pool. There are two restaurants on site and more just a short walk away in Grand Rivers, including the renowned Patti's. Courtesy cars are available for two hour periods with a refundable $20 deposit contingent on replacing any fuel used if venturing beyond Grand Rivers.
The staff, ably led by Harbor Master Bill Gary, are professional, responsive and friendly. Bill is very responsive to feeedback which is a healthy sign of a well managed facility. The staff here and in the local area are also very supportive of veterans, and we thank them for it.

Management response:
Captain Starlight... Thank you for such a thorough review. We so appreciate you, and others, taking time to write your thoughts about Green Turtle Bay on the Active Captain site. Of course, we love it all the more when the review is so positive and detailed - a great morale booster for my wonderful co-workers, and me too. Again, thank you, and we hope to see you again. In the meantime, safe travels. Bill Gary IV.

My favourite Marina, 2016-08-04
Captain: , Quebec (20)

Green Turtle Bay is amazing. It is very clean and very welcoming. For a long time, Demopolis was my fav place but now it has been bumped to #2. All the services I need are here. We had to have our mast removed and the boat loaded on a truck. Green Turtle is very well equipped for this. Getting into the marina is easy and well marked. There are many activities around the marina for family. Along with the great marina, Green Turtle offers a spa, fitness center, restaurants, beach, trails, a courtesy car and golf cart rentals. There is ample space for catching up on laundry with 3 washers and dryers. A great place to stop!

Staff and facilities exceptional, 2016-07-27
Captain: , Brandon (10)

This was our third year to spend time at Green Turtle Bay Resort Marina. Without exception, the resort has everything a boater could want or need. The staff is always helpful and friendly. It's very nice to have a restaurant within walking distance and spa facilities for the first mate. The ships's store is fully stocked with everything and more to meet a boater's needs. Looking forward to a Fall trip back!

Worth a Stop or Extended Stay, 2016-05-24
Captain: , Oshkosh, WI (212)

One of the nicest marina's we have stayed at. Family owned and operated, the staff are all extremely helpful. Tranisient slips are near the office, showers and laundry facilities - all clean and nice. Two restaurants on site. Golf cart rentals available to go into town for groceries, other restaurants, etc. We were even able to store our truck/trailer for a nominal fee while out cruising. Boat ramp is ok but long and steep. Good wifi and friendly boaters.

Management response:
Jeanne... Thank you all for joining us in your new Ranger and wanting to share us via Active Captain. Enjoy your Looping adventure.
Bill Gary IV, GTB Harbor Master

One of our favorite Marinas, 2016-05-05
Captain: , League City, Texas (252)

This remains one of our favorite Marinas on the great loop route after two different stops here on different loops. The first during the busy looper season and this time during the off season. The staff are friendly and helpful. The courtesy cars make getting supplies a breeze. Two good restaurants on site and more in town just a short one mile walk/bike ride. The grounds are lovely and we walked many miles with the dog during our recent three day stay. The admiral did not take advantage of the spa / salon services this trip but she did the first time we stayed here. Great marina! -- John & Terry Spang aboard Lucky Us

Management response:
John & Terry.... Thank you for joining us again and for writing a review on AC. Hope to see you all next time around. Safe travels.

R & R after a grulling trip from Chicago, 2015-10-17
Captain: , South Portland, Maine (847)

Many well deserved postive lauds have been posted about this marina where we intended to stay for two days and ended up staying three weeks.

All that we can add is that the staff is amazing. Bill runs the place with a practiced hand and you will lack for nothing in either personal needs such as haircuts, massages, exercise classes in the pool and provissioning or mechanical issues such as a haul to repair props, shafts and engine problems resulting from the passage from Chicago.

The marine store is really a surprise in that it has most of what a small West Marine could provide and they will order anything you need if they do not have it in house. Dockage comes with a guest membership at theYacht Club for a fine meal on site and the cinnamon rolls at Docker's Grill on site are dangerous. A curtesy van is available for use to drive to grocery and liquor stores in Peducah (30 miles) or Murray (40 miles) or Eddsville (15 miles).

Street legal golf carts available at the marina as far as Grand Rivers, one mile, or one can easily walk or bike there. I also took a 14 mile bike ride into the Between the Lakes National Park and it was well worth the effort.

Our long three week stay here was unintended but bussiness demands at home took my Admiral away for a several weeks. Time at the marina gave me opportunity to clean, wax and repair VELOMER for our trip south from here to Mobile.

I would suggest a reprovission at the Kroger's in Murray rather than Peducah as they have a good selection of organic vegitables and are in a differrent non-dry county for wine and beer purchase.

Some may have recently commented that the dockage price is dear however it was our experience that you get what you pay for here and more if you consider the amenities and access to the cute town of Grand Rivers that is available.

We will definately stay here again whenever we pass this way.

Thank you Bill, Carrie and Ashley, Wendy and all the staff for your hospitality.

You get what you pay for, 2015-10-14
Captain: , Holland, MI (32)

All the good things said about GTB are true. Fantastic place. However, you pay for it, also. There are other nice marinas on Lake Barkey and Kentucky Lake with better pricing. For example, Kuttawa Harbor?s current price for diesel in $2.499 while GTB is charging $3.00 (less $.15 for Loopers). GTB is close and handy to the Loop route, unless you want alcohol. GTB is in a dry county. Kuttawa Harbor and Buzzard Rock on Lake Barkley and Kentucky Dam Marina are in wet counties. Just my $.02.

one of the best resort marinas anywhere, 2015-10-04
Captain: , Wilmington, DE (780)

Fantastic place. Marina facilities are outstanding, staff is excellent, fully stocked ships chandlery on premises and signs welcoming loopers are everywhere. You get access to the yacht club facilities and dining room, there are courtesy cars and golf carts you can use to get into town, good laundry and clean showers and pools and a spa to top it off. Excellent down home style restaurant in town, Patti's, will send a car to pick you up. Feels like heaven after the ride down from Hoppie's.

Excellent stop, looper central, 2015-09-30
Captain: , Ft Myers, Florida (1663)

Good service, diesel $2.91/gal, Pumpout $7.00 with fuel. Courtesy car available for 2 hrs, just pay for gas used. OK yacht club restaurant on site. Dry county so u BYOB. We were lucky to be there for the yacht clubs annual crab/seafood fest--$25/pp was very good , BYOB. About 20 looper boats were here, lots of docktails. Very good ships store, will hold packages if you have shipments sent to them. Boat repair facility on site. Patty restaurant good to visit. The Pork Chops are the thing to order. Patty's will pick u up and take u back. Nice grocery 5 min away. Patty's surrounded by several shops, bank and post office.
Good walking or biking. Good clean restrooms and laundry with 3 washers and dryers.

The Very Best, 2015-09-25
Captain: , Portsmouth, VA (430)

You cannot find a better, finer, more outstanding marina than Green Turtle Bay. We have been here for a week after coming down the Illinois, Mississippi, and Ohio ... doing the "loop" for the third time, third visit to GTB. All you ever want with docks, electric, water, wifi, cable tv, pools, fitness, a terrific spa, two places to eat on site, ship's store, and a working yard, courtesy car. Terrific staff everywhere, everyone exceptional! Cannot say enough great words about this location!

Nice Way to Kick Off the Season, 2015-05-01
Captain: , Peoria, IL (310)

When my wife approached me to drive her and her friends to the annual quilt convention in Paducah, KY I informed her how low the odds were that that was going to happen. Then she mentioned that Paducah was at the north end of Kentucky Lake.... (she's a sly one....)

We rented a condo at Green Turtle Bay Resort where she and her friends stayed in complete comfort with a lake view. The price when split amoung 4 ppl was comparable to what they would have paid for a hotel. The ladies LOVED it. (add a couple of brownie points for me!)

My natural survival instints kicked in so I stayed the week on the boat at the marina. The sailing was GREAT every day. The marina is clean, shower facilities nice, the Dockers restaurant had great breakfasts and the Commonwealth Yacht Club had great dinners. The chef was eager to create veagn meals for me and did an excelent job. All in all, a very enjoyable week. We are already making plans for next year!

Be ready for these guys to spoil you!

A Restful Stop After the Rivers, 2014-10-29
Captain: , Green Cove Springs FL (1380)

We looked forward to coming to GTB after paying our dues on
the Debris Laden Old Miss and Heavy Tow Traffic on the Ohio.
Stayed from 10-25-14lthrough 10-28-14. Used Guest Passes at the Yacht Club, also dinner at Bill's. Restroom/Showers just beautiful and right close to the transient docks. a 60 x 20 slip for a 50 ft boat at $59.00 Inc electric, plus sales tax was a good deal. This is a definite stop, dont drive by this one. Would highly recommend Green Turtle Bay. Capt Helen and Chief Engr Bob

First class Marina, on site spa was a bonus. Well stocked parts store.

Staff cares, there were 8 of us coming in after 6PM and Carrie and the other staff stayed and waited for us (well after 7:30 before they got us all in.)

True five star marina, 2014-10-15
Captain: , Gulf Breeze, Fl (6909)

When here is 09 bathrooms were marginal...they are now first rate private individual bath showers look new and spotless. laundry also.
All is still valid. Although pricey for the area this is a very nice resort still full service facility.
Back again in 10-2014. All still valid. A very, very, good full service marina with all you could want. Exceptionally clean and first rate bathrooms and facilities.
Truly a welcome rest stop after coming down the flooded Mississippi River. This is peak season so be courteous enough to call ahead for a reservation to help them fit you in. Several boats damaged in the run down the debris loaded river were repaired here and continued on. As I said, a full service facility.

Great Treat after 3 Nights at Anchor, 2014-10-07
Captain: , Johns Island (230)

Spent 5 days and enjoyed every minute of it. First class service, docks, courtesy cars, ship's store, biking, hiking, spa, pool, special looper BBQ, Patti's Restaurant. Easy entry and exit. All you would need for a reasonable price

Great Marina, 2014-10-05
Captain: , Bay Point Marina, Marblehead, OH (180)

We stopped here for repairs after having hit a weir dam very hard on the Mississippi. We were very worried that our damage was extensive. The maintenance manager, Gary, put us at ease and said it may not be as bad as you think and that many times damage is limited to just the props. He scheduled us to pull on Monday, and by Friday we were repaired!! The damage was limited to just the props! While the props were off, our boat was put back into the water and shuttled back to the dock with a small work boat. While under repair, we were not charged a dock fee!!! Further, the bill was quite reasonable. This marina is first class! We were located very close to the office and bathrooms and Yacht Club Restaurant. Strong internet. Bathrooms are very nice. We also got a haircut for just $10 at the Spa located in the marina. There is a nice little grill called Dockers where you can get breakfast and lunch. There are courtesy cars you can sign up for. Also we rented a car from Enterprise in Paducah. Enterprise will pick you up even though its 30 miles away. Green Turtle Bay Marina also honored all of the Loopers by having a free "LooperQ" under a tent, which was a barbeque with pork, muttin, baked beans, and cole slaw. These guys are a class act! So glad we stopped here. Todd Russell on Ocean Breeze

A must stop., 2014-10-03

Excellent Marina, 2014-09-21
Captain: , Palm Beach Gardens, FL (1897)

Not only is this marina a godsend after the MS on a year like this but they really cater to boaters.
I have been here twice once in early spring 2013 and now in early Fall.
The marina staff are friendly, efficient and accommodating.
They offer looper discounts from fuel to spa discounts including men's haircut and wash for $10
Their loaner car program works very well and the vehicles are on good shape and they are generous on mileage etc.
The transient docks have finger piers on both sides and are plenty wide.
The marina is well protected from weather and pride of ownership shows in how it is kept up.
The service department is right on site and I observed several looper boats getting hauled to check and repair running gear after the MS.
Definitely a must stop.

Perfect marina, 2014-09-21
Captain: , Massapequa,NY (986)

This marina is like heaven after our time on the Mississippi. Great docks, friendly staff, great prices & looper discounts. Restaurants, pool & spa on site. Town nearby & golf carts and courtesy cars available for a fee. Must go to Patti's for dinner.

A comfortable, very pleasant, one week transient experience, 2014-08-03
Captain: , Nashville,TN (437)

Our little two-trawler "flotilla" docked for a week, waiting for Mississippi River waters to further drop after very heavy Spring rains..... destination Minneapolis. Staff at the Fuel Dock, Ship's Store, Yacht Club and boat yard were uniformly pleasant, knowledgeable and accomodating. The helpful attitudes were pervasive and obviously genuine.
Facility: Our 20x60 slip had very welcome, full length fingers on both sides, excellent power pedestal and great water pressure. The Ship's Store is extremely well equipped and the resort grounds are very pleasant, with lots of well kept grass and trees (we found turtle nests and babies!).
We'll definitely be returning.

Great choice, 2014-07-18

Been here twice - clean, courteous, well protected. Good power and water.

Enjoy walking around the area - much larger than it appears from the docks!

So we came here to fuel and take shuttle to Patti`s. We docked and a staff member came over afterward we asked about shuttle to Patti`s and a courtesy slip after many run around answers it was pay for a slip by the foot get fuel or eat at their restaurant.Ok let's fuel very windy only one gas pump took more than one try to get next to pump the staff member there was a guy age 40 to 50 was very unpleasant and got me a little hot so done with fueling back to our slip by the way got $112.00 in gas the slip was two down from fuel island the staff watched us tie up no smiles ,thank you ,or help.Called shuttle and went to Patti`s which is a great atmosphere with friendly people. We did not rent a slip for the night or tip the sorry staff and after this experience when up in this area I will find some place else to fuel. But if you have a big boat and a twenty in your hands they may love you.

Management response:
Patti's is the main draw in our little "village" of Grand Rivers. Although Green Turtle Bay and Patti's are not "related" other than by proximity in Grand Rivers, we do promote Patti's a great deal, especially to first time or one time customers. But, Patti's sells a restaurant experience while GTB sells a marina and/or resort experience. We charge $0.35 per boat foot to dock for Patti's. We forego that fee if the boater buys fuel or other items. I believe it was me who explained this to Capt. Whale. I don't recall the whole conversation, but I herein offer my apology for having been perceived as unpleasant. Sincerely, Bill Gary IV, Harbor Master.

The Best Of The Best, 2013-12-16
Captain: , Green Cove Springs, FL (165)

This is the most expensive marina we have stayed at. They have a well stocked ship store with parts and propane. They have everything... at a resort prices. This marina is not for the looper on a budget. They have a rental car at $12 an hour, pool, full service mechanics and lots to keep you busy. The showers are awesome and private.

We did not find the staff to be as friendly as those at the Alton Marina.

Or course we would stay here again if we could afford it and had money to burn.

Management response:
All rates are "per boat foot" GTB overnight dockage is $1.25 per night or $6.25 per week. We have two outddor pools, one indoor pool, an exercise facility, two restaurants, private showers, all accessible as part of your dockage fee. Our courtesy car requires a $20 deposit for two hours of usage, which is refunded when a gas receipt is submitted as proof of fuel purchase. Over that two hours can create a rental fee. Please compare us to other facilities. Bill IV

An enjoyable 2 days, 2013-10-30
Captain: , Dog River Mobile, AL (293)

We arrived in the rain, they helped us tie up, then took the trash bag.
Super nice staff, the ships store is reasonably priced. BUT the Restaurant...WOW, affordable by any standard, we had Crab Cake and Jambalaya, dinner for 2 with coffee $42.00.

First time to use a courtesy vehicle, $20 deposit, ask you to replace gas, gave us maps to the closest Walmart, and the keys to a Jeep Cherokee.

We are going to Patties tonite, SPECIAL NOTE: RESERVATIONS NEEDED, then call 15 minutes before you need to be picked up.

A very nice place to take a break for a day or two.

The little things, 2013-10-24
Captain: , Chicago, IL (958)

Ditto on all the comments below, plus modern & clean showers with great water pressure and plenty of hot water. Patti's has a van that will shittle you back & forth to the restuarant. Please note: this is a 'dry county', if you want wine, beer, cocktails at the yacht club or anywhere in town you must bring your own (you'll be charged a minimal corking fee).

It's An Oasis, 2013-10-14
Captain: , Castine, Maine (2964)

If you put Green Turtle Bay anywhere in the world it would be a 5 star marina. But come into this wonderful place after a week of schlepping down the rivers and you really feel like you are entering an oasis. The docks are terrific with long finger piers down both sides, good water and power. The staff is helpful, friendly, and always accommodating. But the best part is when you walk off the docks.

There's a lovely restaurant at the private yacht club on site which you will receive privileges to with your dockage. The club house sits out over the water for a lovely view. We stopped in twice during our stay. Dockers is a small breakfast and lunch stop on site. We enjoyed a good breakfast there.

The wellness center has exercise equipment, an indoor pool (there's also an outdoor pool near the conference center), and the best part, a spa. Hair, nails, facials, massages, everything you need for a good pampering.

There's a beach where we took the dogs swimming in the morning and plenty of places to walk among the condos and cottages. A very nice ships store. A boatyard and fuel dock. Courtesy cars to reprovision. The town of Grand River is just a half mile walk where you can stuff yourself at Patti's. Make sure to try their pies. They even have a van that will pick you up and drop you off. When you're there check out So Cool across the street, an eclectic little shop.

At the suggestion of the marina we saw a show at the Badgett Playhouse right across from Patti's. It was fantastic! Make sure to find out what is playing.

We were having such a good time we decided to stay on for the Hunters Moon Festival. It was a charming piece is small town fun. It was a hard place to leave and definitely a highlight of our cruise.

Great Marina!, 2013-10-02
Captain: , Illinois (2422)

I will mirror all the previous good things said of the marina. The only thing that needs attention is the on site cafe, not to be confused with the yacht club restaurant. 'Dockers' has good food but served on paper and styrofoam at china prices. The coffee tastes bad and the sweet tea isn't any better. Patti's restaurant has outstanding coffee.

Management response:
For 2014, Docker's no longer uses disposable dishes. We have also upgraded our coffee to a fresh ground roast. Please come give us a try.

A Welcome Oasis, 2013-09-29
Captain: , Chattanooga, TN (483)

After being in the Illinois, Mississippi, Ohio River system for nearly three weeks, we arrived at the oasis of Green Turtle Bay Marina. Everything cruisers want is here or nearby. The staff is welcoming and professional. The facilities are first rate. Marina guests can even use many of the condo services, like the health club, swimming pool and such. The marina is great about accommodating transients and Loopers. In fact, one transient section looks like Looper row.

For provisioning, there is a small IPA grocery store in Grand Haven, a Food Giant and new liquor store in Eddyville about 8 miles away, and a Walmart and Kroger in Benton in the opposite direction. GTB has a fleet of courtesy cars for guest use. You can also rent golf carts to tool around to Grand Haven and local restaurants.

We would rate it five stars even if we'd not had the northern river system experience. It's that good.

Great place to stop on the Loop, 2013-09-26
Captain: , Racine, WI (360)

We just spent a week at Green Turtle Bay and enjoyed every minute. The people are great, provide lots of local information, have both golf carts and courtesy cars available for short trips, nice outdoor pool, restaurant, boat store, but the people make the place shine.

Best of the Best, 2013-09-07
Captain: , Grand rivers, my (10)

I've been to many a marina and resort. Green Turtle Bay has without a doubt more bang for your buck than all the others. The employees bend over backwards to make your stay/meal/experience special. If you want a great place to leave your boat, stay in a condo, go to eat... Try Green Turtle Bay.

An oasis after the rivers, 2013-09-03
Captain: , Trenton ON (658)

GTB is like paradise after the hot and dirty rivers. The staff are helpful and the dock hands are friendly. The facilities are well kept and clean. The Internet is fast. All Loopers stay here and for good reason. their courtesy car comes in handy for resupplying the galley. The ships store is well stocked. We had parts send here and Laurie at the ship store went over and above to help us out with holding it for us till we could get here to pick it up. Much thanks to her.

great stop, 2013-03-30
Captain: , Cincinnati (1800)

We stopped to spend the night and was pleasently surprised by the friendly, prompt, and courtious service. We did not take advantage of all the amenities GTB has to offer because we were tired and left early the next morning. We would stop here again.

Awesome Marina, 2012-11-12
Captain: , St. Louis, MO (1696)

One of the best marinas we've been to. The transient slips are wide and straight in. Large basin for easy maneuvering. Very nice facilities. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Good food at yacht club and Pattis 1880 Settlement. Grand Rivers is a blink away by loaner car. IGA store is a little understocked by its got the basics. Worth the hassle of the Mississippi and Ohio rivers.

Great. Well Run Marina, 2012-11-05
Captain: , Detroit (647)

Second time we have stayed here and always enjoyed our stay. The staff is very accomodating and works to make your stay enjoyable. Commonwealth Yacht Club onsite has good food and is open to boaters staying in the marina. Courtesy van is available.

They do have loaner cars, 2012-10-02
Captain: , Spring Lake, MI (379)

Agree with the great ratings. They currently have 3 loaner cars. You can get 2 hrs per couple in a car, and if you take it after 4 PM, you can keep it overnight. If you stay in the local area, they ask you to put "some gas" in. If you take it about 25mi to one of the two Walmarts near Paducha, they ask for a $20 deposit and ask you to put that much gas in and show proof to get your $20 back. All in all a more than fair policy.

Captain: , Erie, Pa. (1876)

All of the prior great reviews are accurate. Docks float. Diesel was $4.63. Power good. Enjoyed massage at their spa. Water depth very good on approach and at dock. Dinner at Patti's was excellent. Breakfast at Dockers was very good. No offer of loaner car. 8-10 loopers were present and interesting to talk with. Stayed two nights. Dock rent very close to $1.25 after sales tax including electric.

great stop, 2012-09-16
Captain: , Cape Coral FL (4176)

Great stop here. THey have several courtesy cars, nice floating docks, staff is knowledgable and helpful and polite. Laundry and clean restroom toilets/showers right on the transient dock. Laundry cost $1.75 each but there are 3 washers an 3 dryers. In town there is the famous Pattis 1880 restaurant with 2" pork chops and fantastic pies. There is an IGA grocery, an ice cream shop (cheap), and a really nice playhouse (Badget) across the street from Patties. There is a Baptist Church next to Pattis also.
Not much else in town. This is a dry town. The other boaters who are drinkers had to drive all the way to Paducah to get their booze.
After running the MIss, Ohio and Cumberland Rivers this is a good place to spend several days or a week. You will see other Loopers here. And that becomes a social event for dinners and happy hours. Dog friendly too.

Terrific Marina, 2012-09-02
Captain: , punta gorda, fl (1328)

Great staff. Excellent well protected transient docks. Heads/showers very nice. Several swimming pools. Courtesy cars. Dockers restaurant for lunch was good. Commonwealth yacht club for dinner was only adequate. Badget playhouse was very entertaining show. Beach on lake. Town is small and mostly uphill about a mile. Enterprise car in Paducah will pick you up but have to use marina courtesy car to return rental car. Excellent well stocked ship store on marina grounds.

The staff couldn't be more accomodating. The facilities are excellent. Don't miss dinner at Sugar and Spice. Paducha is a cool town as well. The river heritage museum has a barge simulator. It's tougher than it seems.

Sugar and Spice, 2011-10-17
Captain: , St. Augustine, FL (4015)

Green Turtle Bay Marina has many good qualities, including a close, famous, tourist restaurant -- Patty's. There is a better restaurant with great food and an outstanding dinning experience -- Sugar and Spice. Chef Marilyn Krantz has built a teaching kitchen in her home and serves meals in the evenings -- reservations required. The menu changes each month. We were there in October and enjoyed the best German food as her theme was October Fest. It is great fun with a group; invite your friends. Call between 3pm and 6 pm to make reservations 270-362-2362.

Dont attempt to come in after dark., 2011-10-17
Captain: , Fort Myers, FL (141)

After dark you will be hard pressed to find the channel. The Towboat US guy was busy every night pulling boats off the sand bars. With the investment made you would think they could put up a few lights at the harbor entrance and channel markers bigger than an bleach bottle.

Full service marina, 2011-10-16
Captain: , Dunedin, FL (6425)

Great stop, not as friendly as the smaller marinas but GTB has every amenity. Had use of courtesy car to run into to town for groceries and mail. You can also take it to Paducah for price of fuel. Jan made full use of the indoor pool and water arobics classes. Two resaurants on site.

Goof protected harbor, nice docks, good service department. Frist class marina. Transportation options. Pool, Brand new geat restrooms and showers. Great place to keep a boat long term. Don't miss Pattie's two inch porkchop down town. They will pick you up.

I felt like transient trash, 2011-03-30
Captain: , Waverly, WV (116)

Stopped here Aug. 2010, and I agree with the other reviews as far as the facility, top notch. Ships store & staff at the ships store also tops. Staff at the office, I did NOT kick in the teeth, even though I was treated as if I had. Pulling up to the fuel dock in a cross wind, my wife on the stern reaches a boat hook to a strapping mid 20's lad who just looked at her, until she hooked a cleat herself. Oh well, guess they dont see many boat hooks around here, our mistake. Got our slip #, staff pointed us in the direction, and that was it. Now I can dock by myself, but this was in a tight corner with a boat on one side that stuck way out of its slip and the "Tow Boat US" pulled up in the way on the other side, with a pretty good cross wind. This spot was also beside the office, (not far for them to walk). We got no help, but the staff did set inside in the A/C and watch us fight with the wind and the tight spot. The overall attitude of the dock staff was that we were just a nuisance. We will never stay here again.

New bath and laundry facilities at GTB are awesome!, 2011-02-25
Captain: , Green Turtle Bay Marina (10)

We've always enjoyed the amenties and friendliness of the staff at Green Turtle Bay, however, the bath and laundry facilities available to boater's were not on par with the rest of the resort. Well all that has changed and the new bathrooms are now nicer than most that we have seen at other marinas. We think we have selected one of the best spots in the country to call home port.

Great Place To Relax, 2011-02-25
Captain: , Green Turtle Bay (10)

GTB has completed some great renovations of the marina. New private bathrooms and showers, a new coin laundry facility, a facelift in the boaters rest and PEB surfacing on the gas dock make this a must stop. The Jade and Earth Spa, Dockers Grille and Commonwealth Yacht Club are also top notch.

Great Stop - Would Definitely Come Back, 2010-10-10
Captain: , Cleveland (2062)

After being at anchor since Hoppies on the Mississippi, we arrived at Green Turtle Bay Marina - what a wonderful place to rest and recover! 3 courtesy vans for trips to Paducah (30 mi) to any kind of store you need. Personnel were very helpful. Previous reviews were correct about the lack of adequate washer/dryers and restroom/showers could be improved. All in all though, a very protected good marina. Breakast and lunch on site with the Yacht Club dining room available for dinner. Also golf carts available for rent for the 1 mile trip to Grand Rivers and IGA.

My Favorite Place on the Cumberland, 2010-09-20

Good strong protected docks. $10.00 a night if you rent one of their condos (which are very nice!) Temporary membership in the Commonwealth Yacht Club comes with rental. Good c-store, breakfast and lunch restaurant, all necessary needs are available.

Green Turtle Bay Marina, 2009-10-22

Nice marina; provides a welcome respite after completing the Illinois, Mississippi and Ohio. Yacht Club on premises allows boaters to use the facilities. Nice fitness center, pool, yoga & stretching classes available to boaters. Two courtesy vans to borrow. Enterprise in Paducah will pickyou up if you're renting a car.
Too few washers/dryers for boating population. Showers undersized as well. Stay 5 nights for the price of 7.

Great stay, 2009-10-19

Spent 9 nights here and loved having the indoor pool and gym.4 vans available. Would have been 5 stars if the restrooms and showers had been in better condition and there had been more of a personal feeling that we have found in the smaller marinas.

If you want a pool and fitness facility and weekend parties, this is probably 4 stars. It can handle lots of big cruising boats. It is so big an indivual gets little attention. In fact the office staff preffers watching the TV instead of listenting to the VHF. Kentucky Dam is better in my opinion.

Resort Review, 2009-07-14
Captain: , Eddyville, KY (282)

A bit pricey compared to the other local Marinas. Ship Chandlery is one of the best of the Marinas on KY Lake or Barkley Lake. Restaurant is restricted to members or transit slips. A hamburger stand is availble to visitors. Docks and restrooms in need of repair, cleaning and painting. Good dining and some shopping available in Grand Rivers, a couple miles away. If you are not renting, storing or buying there, staff wants little to do with you.

Deteriorating Badly, 2009-06-12
Captain: , Burnt Store, FL (489)

We have stayed at GTB about 6 times, as transients and seasonal renters. This last time will be our last, for good reason. Having reserved months in advance, directly with Bill Gary IV, we found, upon arrival, that we were assigned a completely unacceptable berth. The berth was dirty, had insufficient power, constant bird droppings, and was located several miles from the marina center by road. After discussions with Bill Gary IV, no solution was offered.

We left for Kentucky Dam Marina, where we were very codially received and bearthed for the season. We recommend that others consider this alternative.

Stayed overnight on 7 June 2008. Very clean and friendly. Water pressure in shower was a little low. Beware of someone brushing teeth while you are in the shower, brrrrrr. Overnight dockage entitles you to temp membership in the Yacht Club. Yacht Club has really good seafood. Try the mushroom appitiser and the scallops in cream sause!

We stayed here over the summer in 2007. It was nice. The bathroom/shower facilities are a little skimpy. May get a cold shower if someone is doing laundry. Fuel prices seemed a bit higher than neighboring marinas. Ships chandlery has pretty good selection of stuff.
